Ordered takeaway chicken tikka massala - good. Pilau rice and garlic naan - good. The lamb Rogan Josh was on the menu as medium heat. No heat at all. Very few tomatoes and underseasoned as a whole Needed some salt. Lamb okay but could be less dry. Very light heat to Bombay potatoes. Delivery time - good. Price- good.

Heard of a new chef so thought we’d give it a try. Absolutely delicious meal, delivered as promised. Sylhet is back! Really lovely lamb, no oil etc.

NEVER AGAIN. We went for the Tuesday special offer. Ordered Lamb madras. Hardly any lamb, just small chunks. Also tried to order chicken tikka masala which they used to do for an extra £1. Not any more, so ordered ckicken jalfrazi. Chicked tough as old boots and I have never had a curry like it. Full of onions sitting in oil. Horrible.

Visited on a busy Saturday evening, the service was friendly and efficient without being rushed. The food quality was good and served hot (hot plates being a good touch). Overall an enjoyable meal at a reasonable price.

This was such a great dining experience, we stayed at The Lamb and this place was about 4 mins walk away. The atmosphere and the linen table clothes and efficient staff made this an up market curry meal for us. All the food we ordered was excellent, the mushroom rice was the best we have ever tasted. Great quality and a reasonable price, well done to all the team.

Arrived to be seated on a cramped table by the toilets. Wrong drinks serviced. I plated my curry and rice; once I’d tasted the curry I realised it was not what I’d ordered. Plate taken away and replaced with the correct curry but no rice to go with it. Lamb was tough. Flavours were bland from lime pickle to Ceylon.

There's no short changing here, plenty of content and quality is very good. Will definitely return. Keep up the great work.

Liked the look of the restaurant from the outside so decided to give it a try. Glad we did. A warm welcome set the style for service that was friendly and efficient throughout. Super food that was beautifully cooked. Very generous portions meant that we took some home. Standouts were Tandoori chicken and a huge but delivious King Prawn Puri. A decent bottle of chardonnay (took some back to our apart) a couple of pints of Kingfisher and a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The leftovers still taste great this morning ...

It was our second visit within five weeks for a last minute mid week booking. We often order takeaway from here which are always very good, it fancied dining out. There is a specials menus that is only available when dining in the restaurant so it provides the opportunity to try something different. The food was amazing and did not disappoint. The restaurant is immaculate and cosy, staff/owner so friendly and good value for money. Highly recommend.

Had a takeaway as a bit of a treat. I don’t want to get emotional about it, but it was the nicest meal I‘ve ever had! I cant recommend the lamb Ceylon enough. The meat is just perfect. The sauce is thick and so flavoursome. It was the perfect level of heat and a beautiful blend of warm spices and cool coconut milk, just perfect. The rice was dreamy. The lads even threw in some bhajis and poppadum’s! Food cooked on time and really friendly chat at pick up. Really cant praise this place enough.

Just had an exceptional Indian takeaway from this restaurant, delicious good quality food, clean plates all round, definitely recommend, they do delivery too which is a bonus for a Saturday night.

Went here on a date night this weekend. Really really friendly staff, great service and most importantly superb food. Highly recommend the Lamb Ceylon. Lamb is cooked to perfection and the sauce is rich and just the right heat. The wine was a great pairing too. 10 / 10 would recommend (and need to try more dishes!).

Great curries. In particular the Tuesday evening special menu is terrific value for money at £12.50.

A weekend trip to Ely and a need for supper resulted in a takeaway from Sylhet. The food was delicious and we will order again on a future visit.

We were boating on the Ouse and stopped at Ely for a curry. We picked Sylthet from the several on offer and we’re not disappointed. Friendly staff and the most excellent food. The chicken chart starter ( with a purée) was fantastic followed by a garlic chilli lamb was superb. Too much to eat at one sitting, we took the excess back to the boat for lunch the next day. Wish we passing by again but we wanted to pass on our experience for other travellers and devotees of good curry.

We stayed at a hotel a few doors down and had a takeaway. It was the best Bangladeshi food I have eaten and my wife was totally ecstatic about her tandoori chicken. The staff bent over backwards and even threw in a fantastic sag aloo for free as a welcome back present as it has been a long time since I have lived here. How many restaurants would lend you plates, cutlery and a tablecloth because we could not go in with our dog? I’d totally recommend to anyone. Look forward to coming back soon.

Pre ordered and paid for meal online for delivery only to be told 1 hour after they opened they don't deliver to my area. Why let me order in first place.

Food is ‘normally’ good from here but with an occasional let down, a few months back my wife picked a chicken tikka massala which she had previously enjoyed from here, however this time it was barely edible - when I rang to complain I was...

Returned from long drive home and ordered takeaway as too tired to cook... what a disappointment! Food was an hour late and I ordered Vegetable Salee - I could not get a fork in the undercooked vegetables and the dish did not contain the sliced...

Having had a phone call confirming our booking AND a text we were phoned just 8 minutes before our booking saying the table had just been given to someone else. This is appalling lack of service. We were actually parking our car!!! Having eaten here...

We have just had our delivery. Used sylhet for 20 years, dining in and take aways. Always our preferred Indian restaurant of choice Must admit I was very disappointed this time. First time in years. Flavours were lacking. Artificial colouring was massive - my tikka...

This Indian has always done lovely food and I am sure it will continue to do so. Unfortunately, they raised their delivery charge from £1 to £3 plus a 'service' charge during lockdown. I was happy to let it slide as they announced a 10% discount during lockdown so it wasnt such a big deal.Now lockdown is over the 10% discount is finished but they continue to charge £3 delivery and a service charge.I'm looking for a new takeaway after 7yrs of ordering from Sylhet, I think they are taking P. I am hoping they change this in the near future for the sake of their loyal customers.

I have used this restaurant a couple of times for take away and it has been amazing. The staff are ever so friendly and helpful on the telephone, the food is second to none and the delivery time is brilliant. I will definitely use them...

Our first takeway curry during the Covid-19 lockdown and probably the best we have ever had, so easy to order and get delivered. Excellent service from ordering through to delivery, cant wait till the next time, keep it up Sylhet.

Not had a take away from here, well it was very nice . Order was taken over phone by a very pleasant gentleman ,told it would be half an hour and it was and they were very busy. On arrival home food was still nice...

The title says it all really. Waiting 2 and a half hours for a take away - simply not good enough. I was given a full refund which is the reason for 2 stars, and the food was actually tasty, but cold. Must do better.

Visited here as part of a group of 6 people. From walking through the door we were made to feel genuinely welcome.The food was excellent, as was the service. The waiter that took our order was funny and engaging whilst being extremely professional.After taking our order, he asked if any of us suffered any allergies.Looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely meal here over the weekend, we had booked a table and on request they let us change it at short notice with no problem. When we got there it was quite busy but this didn't affect the food or service, the food was all lovely and piping hot on arrival. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, would definitely recommend this place for a good curry in Ely.

My wife and I had a meal here and mentioned that she had a nut allergy.

Me and my husband went with our grown up son who is allergic to nuts and eggs to Sylhet for a curry. We could not fault the customer service we received, our waiter was so helpful with regard to our son's allergies and suggested suitable dishes all of which were gorgeous. The food was beautiful and tasted so fresh. Thank you so much we will be back again!! Special thanks to our lovely waiter :)

We decided to have a take away curry tonight,so we ordered from our favourite Indian takeaway. When the food arrived it was hot and the delivery driver was very courteous, it went down well on a Friday evening, keep up the good work Sylhet.

We celebrated my wife's birthday with 4 other people at the Sylhet ... superb ... the service was great, the food excellent and all very reasonable ... highly recommended

I had my birthday party here in November and had invited family to join me at my favourite restaurant. We were well looked after by Zahid, Shemem, Monica, Andrew and the team. Hok the Head Chef did us proud. The intensity of flavours (expertly blended and combined) was nothing short of wonderful. Thanks again to you all! Everyone can't stop talking about how good it was.

2nd time we have been here in few years as we visit Ely to visit family, great food, great service and nice atmosphere. we will be back soon....

An evening with friends.The staff were friendly and service was excellent but my food was not! The food is quite expensive and so one would imagine the quality of the food to be first class. The friends we were with had tasty food however my vegetarian meal of tofu was the worst I have ever tasted. ...chewy and inedible! The first plate was taken away and replaced by another which was not much better. I left over half the plate and did say that it was not nice and for me a disappointment!A good will gesture would have been to take the price of my meal off the bill...but that didnt happen. If someone wants to have some peaceful days, Sylhet is the place. Less noise pollution, light traffic.

Location, decor & service first class. Food was OK but not top - perhaps the dishes were a little too ambitious. The surprise was being presented with a tablet asking me to choose the percentage tip as a selection of buttons topping out at 30%! Wow! Cheeky and disappointing

Had a really lovely evening here with my Husband, The food is excellent and all staff are very Friendly ( smiling and Happy ) The restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is very relaxed,also the setting is really nice. We have walked passed it a million times as we live near by!! Can’t believe we’ve been missing out for so long☹️ Will most definitely be going back very soon.

I have had numerous excellent experiences at Sylhet, Ely and have been remiss in not reviewing here earlier The front of house team (ably lead by Shimem) are efficient and friendly - special mention for Monika and Eddie who go about their work with smiles on their faces and who are polite. The food itself is lovely...and is an expertly blended mix of spices and ingredients - many thanks to Hoc the head chef and his kitchen team for their tireless efforts in pleasing our difficult group of family and friends over these last months...many of us are vegetarians or have specific dietary requirements.

The waiters seemed very hurried & some had difficulties in understanding. The restaurant wasn't very busy for a Friday evening and the food was average.

There isn't much to say about the curry here. It is mediocre without much flavour or depth. We have been spoilt by curry palace in cottenham and would recommend the trip over there than settling for here.

Used to be our ‘go to’ takeaway until the last 2 occasions food was inedible, as either far too spicy or ingredients used that weren’t ordered also not as expected or even liked! (Swapped chick peas for garden peas, broccoli was sent instead of cauliflower etc. I also asked for a dish to be medium rather than mild, but they made the wrong mild dish more spicy than anyone could physically eat)

The food was wonderful, great taste, all you could ask for. Slightly let down by the service, who got confused several times.

Called in for Sunday lunch, for my first visit to this restaurant, my wife and I were greeted with a warm welcome. After being seated I was impressed with the cleanliness of this establishment.

My husband and I ordered a chicken biryani with madras hot vegetable curry and a prawn salee which should be medium hot, both had very little flavour, needless to say we were very disappointed with our meal.

Staff found us a table on a busy Friday night. Had wonderful starters and scrumptious main courses with sides! Yum yum! Thank you Sylhet!

I've had takeaways from here on numerous occasions. Every time it has been spot on. I'm a particular fan of the Lamb Naga. They will even make it spicier if you ask them. Great service.

Myself and a friend visited this restaurant on the 4th November 2017.

We are regular customers at this restaurant and are always very well looked after by friendly staff and management. We visited on Saturday evening 21st October and the food was absolutely delicious (chicken Pathia and Dansak). The sides were equally good and we were not rushed. The decor is fresh and the ambience was good. The restaurant was busy and so was the take away service. We have no need or desire to venture elsewhere.

Llamado en sábado aproximadamente 6 p. m., y aunque estaban completamente llenos, sin problemas me dieron una mesa, la comida era excelente, inmejorable, el personal era muy amable y no te hace sentir prisa en cualquier momento, bien vale la pena el esfuerzo de encontrar.

Mi esposa y yo probamos algunos de sus curris esta noche y me encantó. Ella tenía un Pollo Tikka Masala (común) y sabemos que no recuerdo qué comí, pero estaba delicioso. Me dijeron que el hombre quería algo nuevo y él hizo la sugerencia. Recomendaría este lugar. Además, está cerca de la catedral, en el caso de que ya están en ese camino.

Conseguimos una llevar y llegó rápidamente y era absolutamente delicioso. Buenas porciones de tamaño! Se utiliza todo el tiempo.

Just had the best curry for a long while, but then again you normally get a great curry from Sylett in Ely. Great to be able to order online and get it delivered to your door.Keep up the good work.

No starter for me this time.Tandoori salmon main - very tasty. Menu had lots of choice.Drinks - draught lagers x2 plus others.Pudding - ice cream with cherries. A good sized portion.Staff - a weak point of this place. A couple had very weak English skills. Decor - smart and good for a romantic meal. Toilets were clean and smart as well. Price - reasonable.

Got a take away the other night and the food was really good. Unfortunately the containers where only half full. At about £10 a dish I was shocked at how stingy they where.

Food was excellent as usual. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was not up to its normal standard but we were in a large group and the restaurant was very busy.

We have been to the Sylhet many times (in fact this was the second time this month) and I regret writing this review. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and nice food. Last night my husband ordered biryani and asked for the veg curry to be hot, he checked with the waiter that he had written this down. When the meal arrived, the curry was incredibly bland - which he told the waiter who literally shrugged his shoulders and made no offer to change it. As we left we were asked if we had enjoyed our meal - my husband told them of the problem with the curry, to be told 'maybe it will be better next time!' Needless to say he was really cross - as he had paid for it to be good this time. As far as he is now concerned, there will not be a next time. To me, if there is a problem with a meal you always give a restaurant the opportunity to correct the problem - the good one do, those that don't .....

The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean looking and bright - the menus is very interesting with lists of lovely dishes to choose from . There were 4 of us and we all chose something different - everyone enjoyed their food and its was tasty and freshly cooked.

We went here for our works xmas shin dig on the 3rd of December, The service was brilliant THE FOOD WAS AWESOME!! Everyone commented on how great the food was AND IT WAS EXCELLENT!!!!! The people who worked in the restaurant deserve such credit for the service they gave us all the superb delivery of the excellent food!! I personally highly recommend !! but this is my opinion and 17 others!! will be going back for sure!!

Had a takeaway last night, onion bhajis good and reasonable sized containers for curries, but extremely watery sauce which needed a spoon to eat., and very few pieces of meat. I ordered a drink whilst I was waiting which never arrived. Will not be going again.

Went today, Tuesday, we had their meal deal, £11, it was lovely & tasty, nice and clean restaurant with friendly staff, we will definitely be going back.

My family and I went for the Tuesday curry night menu and the chicken in the dishes was dry and tasteless. It was so dry, it was difficult to eat. I've had far better curry elsewhere. An experience but for all the wrong reasons!

I live in Ely so maybe I am biased but I love this restaurant.Great food, lovely ambiance, staff always friendly and attentive.So good in fact now I think about it I'm going to head there for dinner now.

The Sylhet is a good quality Indian restaurant, however, best enjoyed dining in. I would recommend the Chicken Madras, excellent. Decent value for money, however, not cheap. I have found that the take away doesn't seem as good as dining in, have ordered the exact same meal as a take away and it just wasn't as good. It was as if they had just cooked some chicken and poured a jar of sauce over it. They also didn't give me the onion bhaji's I'd ordered and I didn't realise until I gt home.

Generally very good food. I've had a few of the specials too and they are excellent. They seem to be happy to cater it your level of tolerance with spiciness too, which is very considerate of them. The only bad thing to say about them is that they have one waiter who doesn't seem to listen very much and is a bit... abrupt. The others are all excellent and very friendly.

Enjoyed a nice meal here, nice menu, good quality food and reasonably priced menu. We would go again next time in Ely

The food is always very good at the restaurant, but last night we had a really bad waiter who I felt was rude and not very helpful,so we are seriously considering going to the other Indian restaurant in Ely in the future

Really nice restaurant with contemporary feel, we were staying for a few days in Ely and decided to give their Tuesday evening special a go, we weren't disappointed, both of us had starters and mains that were of a style that we'd never experienced in any other Indian, all were incredibly tasty, and the mains certainly had a kick (Naga and Ceylon).Excellent value and portion size (with a doggy bag for lunch when we got home), on our list for next time we're in the area.

This is one of my favorite curry houses. The food is consistently good although when busy the service can be haphazard. Chicken madras is particularly tasty and they will also make lemon rice although it is not on the menu. Good value for money.

Staying with friends in Ely, sylhet delivered our takeaway, great service. The food was really good.

We went here for the first time recently due to our favourite Indian recently closing down. The service and food met our expectations, Speedy service, especially on a Saturday night. Good food, and really good wine. It was a lot better value than we were expecting. They slightly fluffed up our wine order, but we didn’t mind. Overall would recommend and we’ll visit again.Top Tip. Go for the most expensive wine. It’s still great value and is a fantastic wine.

The wife and I went to syhlet to try the curry club it happens on the 1st Wednesday of each month to describe the food. An authentic Indian dish not on the menu we found the food to be full of flavour, smelt delious , eye pleasing, to round it off its a "Taste bud Masterpiece"

We'd looked at a couple of Indian restaurants in Ely and very pleased we settled on this one. Try the Archer curry - had never heard of it but it was really tasty. Staff very friendly, service quick and prices very reasonable.

We booked a table for 10 people for Tuesday night expecting it to be busy due to the meal deal offering. Unfortunately only 7 of us could make the evening so on arrival we made our apologies only to be rudely told off by one of the members of staff.This wasn't a simple "that's a shame, maybe give us a bit of notice next time" but more of an angry secondary school teacher addressing his class who had forgotten their homework for the sixth time in a week. Although tempted to walk out and visit one of Ely's many other Indian's we laughed it off and had a pretty decent meal.Word of advice for people booking in advance - make sure your full party attends otherwise you may face the wrath of a waiter!I can't give a score of very good as I don't feel it's warranted considering the inappropriate dressing down we were given..
