Lemon Grass in Watford

I’ve ordered from here many times and have never been disappointed! The food is always fantastic, and the service is just as great. The staff are lovely, friendly, and polite, and even when it’s busy, orders arrive quickly. My partner and I love starting with the salt and chilli peppercorn squid. For mains, he loves the curry laksa, and I enjoy the sweet and sour chicken or black bean beef with egg fried rice. So many options, including vegan choices! Highly recommend!

One of the tastiest take-outs I’ve had in a long time. Fresh and tasty with no cloying, gloopy sauces.

Atmosphere , hardly anyone ever in there , but a lot of deliveries seem to keep this place afloat Hygiene rating was 1 !!! A few years back and seems as though it’s only a 3 out of 5 now

We where looking for a late lunch early dinner before we went to Harry potter studios. I came across lemon grass. It's near the station which was handy for us. The lunch menu looked great, good price too but we just wanted a main course. My daughter had chicken noodles with peanut sauce, it was beautiful. Mum got black bean which she enjoyed and I had the katsu curry with coconut rice. I really enjoyed mine. Portions were big. Great value for money.

Enjoyed a family evening meal out and loved the food here. We started off with the Korean fried chicken which was so delicious, chicken was soft on the inside and a bit of crisp on the outside, the spicy mayo wasn’t spicy but it was really tasty. We also ordered the set platter for two which came with a range of foods, including: spring rolls, tempura veg, Korean fried chicken, prawns, ribs and then the pancake duck. I ordered the chicken Phad Thai which was so good, lemon gave it a great boost of flavour, they had crushed peanuts on top but I would love it if it came with a peanut sauce… that would be to die for. Ordered the coconut ice cream which I haven’t had since a child so that gave me a bit of reminiscence and it tasted amazing. Staff are lovely and accommodating. Would recommend to enjoy a meal here if you are around Watford.

Came here for a dinner with my wife, only a short walk from home. Major discovery! Had prawn toast, chicken wings and duck pancakes for starters. The portions were so big I was already full before the mains came! Taste was flavoursome as well. For mains I had Laksa and my wife had Mee Goreng. Portions were heavy and the taste divine, will come back to try all the other dishes!

First time visitor. Small yet comfortable establishment. Food portions were good. Food was nice. Staff/servers very nice and friendly.

Food was really good, very nice, clean, plenty of flavour. Ingredients could be a bit more fresh I felt, but the sauces were nice. Good size portions, needs music to create some ambience, maybe a water feature? Don't really want to hear everyone's conversations. Parking is also an issue, but overall the food was very good and the staff were friendly enough.

Ordered via deliveroo on a Sunday + Food came very quickly - barely half an hour + Big portions + Low price - Tom Yum had 3 prawns in each, and not much substance. - Prawns were definitely frozen ones - Pad Thai tasted like it had been microwaved, the noodles broke apart as they were put into a bowl - Noodles were thin and soggy, further implying these had been reheated Had to stop eating and throw it away unfortunately. Unless this is a new style of making Thai food that I'm not familiar with, I was very disappointed - the reviews are otherwise decent, so maybe this is a Sunday evening issue.

My family and I have dined at Lemon Grass several times, and we absolutely adore it! The cuisine is consistently fresh and delicious. The staff members are incredibly warm and hospitable. We look forward to returning again soon!

I've been to Lemon Grass a few times and honestly I think the food gets better each time. It's a nice mix of pan-Asian food, with Malaysian, Thai, Chinese and Japanese food being served. This particular visit we had the mixed starter (prawn toast, satay chicken, ribs, spring roll, seaweed); it's not huge portions but it is tasty and satisfying. I had the Panang curry, and my other half had the Rendang curry. Both were quite spicy and very tasty. Service is good and you're not left waiting! Absolutely worth a visit, particularly if you're in a group where tastes vary as there's something for everyone on the menu.

Food was very bland. Has Ribs, Gyoza and multiple main dishes that lacked much flavour. Not impressed with the food. The Rendang Curry was flavourless and the meat was very dry.

Food was expensive a poor quality. Service was non existent and the atmosphere not as good as a greasy spoon. HATED the whole experience.

I've only tried takeaway by delivery, but it's very good quality Thai food. Good enough that I was happy to make it my regular after trying a few average ones in surrounding areas. The massaman curry and soft noodles with soya sauce are two of my staples from here.

The initial greeting as we walked in was brusque, the decor was poor and felt like a cheap cafe. We thought the food would be good reflecting on the extensive menu. Very disappointing and definitely will not recommend or return.

We've been here a few times for both lunch and dinner and have not been disappointed. The set lunch menu has plenty on offer and is good value. The portion sizes are generous and we've always had leftovers to take away. The staff can be a little more attentive at times, but it's the food we're going for and this is always delicious and satisfying. I love being able to request ingredients to be added to dishes. For example, I recently asked for broccoli to be added to an aubergine black bean dish. Definitely recommend this restaurant, but make sure and call to see if they're open as we've shown up on a Saturday to find them closed even though Google noted them open at the time.

Excellent value 2 course lunch menu, good miso ramen too

Went for lunch with 12 of my work colleagues - the service was excellent and the food was really tasty and very good value. Everyone enjoyed it and would like to go again.

My partner and I have just had a meal here, we are not local, staying nearby for work. We found the food to be excellent, great variety, the portions are huge. The Thai spring rolls are amazing as are the pork gyoza 🥟 very good value for money I feel, staff were perfectly fine. Would definitely recommend. Only thing I would sort is the lighting, flickering lights were giving me a headache. Still recommend for the food though. 😁

I've been coming here for Thai food ever since moving to Watford. Excellent taste and brilliant value for money. Tip: for afternoon takeaway deliveries you'll need to order via app like just eat etc however for evenings phone restaurant directly and they'll sort out delivery themselves.

Lovely little place in Watford. We had the Lemon Grass Feast, so tried a bit of everything. All of the food was really really tasteful, and the peking duck was really well made with great flavours. All of the starters were delicious, and the curry main course was also so so good. We were unfortunately already very full by the main course but I highly recommend the Lemon Grass Feast menu

Turned up ordered no less than 5starters and 4/5mains between 3 of us. Most things were "okay" and im being very generous here, I’ve had a lot better , but locally it’s the best of the worst. Ordered lamb with spring onions and it was like eating leather. Explained this to a lady who claimed to be the owner, who refused to accept this and even ate a piece from the plate itself in the restaurant and said she would not refund the money. We were prepared to order another dish but the owner was rude and obnoxious and didn’t care what I had to say. Who knows what is possible acting like this in front of us with no shame, id hate to think what happens behind closed doors. She carried being very vocal and ate the dish at the counter explaining she doesnt like to waste food! Ive found out today that Lemon Grass has a food standards rating of 3 out of 5! Lovely food, great selection of styles of asian food. Friendly and welcoming staff. The katsu curry and the teriyaki chicken were superb!

We ordered multiple times over the last few months, and the food is simply delicious. Everything we tried is authentic, super tasty, and fresh. I will rank according to our taste: 1) tea smoked shredded chicken 2) beef rendang 3) red or panang curry 4) crispy shredded beef 5) all rice and noodles (though my fav is steamed Japanese pearl and my partner's nasi goreng) 6) chilli and basil chicken 7) soups 🍲 7) laksa Once we got so inspired, we ordered twice in one day 🤯🙈😆 We must one day visit restaurant.

Das Essen schmeckt hervorragend! Alles wird frisch zubereitet , und das Essen wird sehr heiß 🔥 serviert ( bei take away ist es zuhause noch sehr heiß 🔥) Die Angestellten sind sehr freundlich und alles ist sehr sauber! Kann man aufjedenfall weiter empfehlen:)

Excellent food and very pleasant and friendly staff. I came in with a dog and asked permission and they allowed us in. I saw the staff connecting at personal level with the other guests too. Food was absolutely amazing! Glad to have stumbled up on this place close to home.

We found this place via google and was pleasantly surprised with the nice and yummy they offered. The staff was good and overall ambiance was good too. It was not the best chinese I have easten but a good one.

Whilst the food is good and portions good when eating at the restaurant. The takeaway portions on the other hand are significantly smaller and therefore overpriced. Would not recommend this restaurant for takeaways.

Worst place ever! Only 1/2 mile from take aways on st Albans Rd that are 1/2 the price and 10 times better. Worst birthday present I've ever had. Made my wife and I both ill stodgy stir-fry veg boiled potatoes in the chicken curry yuk!

Me and my wife just moved to the area and both being chefs we both love our food… the restaurant was clean and cozy. The food was amazing, full of flavour and we both left incredibly happy and full. Will definitely be back soon!!! Thanks guys for a great evening

Food was good, atmosphere good but l was overcharged and when l mentioned it their English wasn’t so good. Oh and they put 10% service charge on bill which l think is a bit rude. I typically pay 15% tip in cash.

We dined here yesterday after a very long day at WB Studios- all 7 of us were suitably hungry and looking forward to a nice meal to end a fantastic day. The service was OK (I've had worse but I've had better at McDonald's- so take that as you wish). We didn't have to wait long for food and most of the food was very nice- the food that was a little disappointing was merely subjective, so nothing against the restaurant itself. When it came to the bill (a little over £160- so very reasonable for 7 of us) there was a service charge added (like most restaurants these days). We requested to pay the total, minus the service charge (we like to decide how much we tip, not to be told how much we should) and the waitress's demeanour changed and said we had to provide a reason why we didn't want to pay it! I replied that it was optional as to whether we paid it or not (like it is in every other restaurant- unless previously stated that it is a mandatory charge). You could tell she wasn't happy and upon leaving we were ignored by several of the staff (who were all huddled together by the 'reception desk'). It was a bit disappointing as we had all looked forward to eating there and it ended the day on a bit of a 'slump'.

We visited yesterday for an early evening meal, very good food and excellent service and the price was amazing, will certainly be returning soon.

Best Chinese in Watford by a long shot. Not only was the food tasty and fresh, the customer service was brilliant. My flat is tricky to find as it's a new build but the lady stayed in contact with me as did the driver right up untill our food was at my door and on our plates. Thanks again guys. We visited here at lunchtime, as our usual restaurant was closed. It will now be added to our list of favourites! We were warmly greeted, and given a choice of main menu and set menu, (which was excellent value, and included a drink!). The starters were a generous portion, very tasty, and hot. The main course was also very tasty, and so big a portion, that there was enough to take home for supper! Thakyou for a wonderful meal!

One of the best noodles i ever had and the spring rolls were absolutely incredible. Great customer service, child friendly, food arrived super fast.

This restaurant is rated 5 star on here not sure how ! The customer service when we visited was substandard! We ordered a few dishes and most were okayish however the beef randang tasted horrible , you could taste the raw spices and when we gave our feedback the waitress decided to give us a lesson in geography and where the dish originated from as if we might have been unaware or ignorant when we ordered it. We have had this dish many times in other Malaysian restaurants and it tastes fantastic as opposed to the disgusting mixture of onion and raw spices that we were saved. I will definitely not be visiting again and for the level of customer service will discourage any of my friends or family from vsiting or ordering from this establishment.

Best Oriental food restaurant - family and I had internal vote! Excellent value for money - good size portions, and tasty dishes. We've now know exactly what we like - Chicken Pad Thai, Duck and Chicken Satay. You wont be disappointed. Dining in restaurant is a little dated and some difficulty parking. We prefer delivery/take-away, but eating in staff are friendly .

The decor and ambience might not be great, but the food and service were exceptional. The serving staff made us feel very welcome and were helpful The dishes we selected were different and really tasty. Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and will definitely consider returning when we next visit Watford.

There's a rule of thumb among those of us who are globetrotters and have been fortunate to eat our way on a global scale. Be on your guard against any "ethnic" restaurant that offers more than one national cuisine on its menu. Fusion cuisine is a different concept and almost always a disappointment. Lemon Grass is NOT such a restaurant but more of a United Nations of Asian cuisines under one roof, with four of the great cuisines represented in-house by Thailand, Hong Kong (Cantonese), Japan and Malaysia. The kitchen & front of house staff is Malaysian and they boldly go where their ambitions take them. Got that, have you? I kicked off with a Hot & Sour soup, a ubiquitous menu item at Chinese (Cantonese) restaurants here in the UK's multi-ethnic restaurant scene. HOT & sour in that order although its kick was more reminiscent of the fiery Southern Thai and Chinese Hunan cuisines respectively. I loved it but needed a glass of cooling Tsingtao beer to slake my fired-up taste buds. A hearty introduction to this restaurant's patchwork of Asian cuisines. Malay-Malaysian Rendang was well-prepared and generously served. Front-of-house staff scored high marks for their welcome and friendly service. It remains to be seen if the other cuisines on offer deliver satisfaction all around. I relish the opportunity to find out.

Found this restaurant after going to 2 others on route for a takeaway which wouldn't serve us as we didn't have any cash on us and the cash points weren't working. Found this one which had a restaurant so naturally they take cards... Winning a Chinese actually in the 21st century! The restaurant looked nice but we wanted a take away between jobs so ate in the van but the restaurant was dead anyway and they seemed to be taking a lot of orders on Just Eat. The food itself was amazing, highly recommend and really not surprising as it's a proper restaurant not a greasy tax dodging takeaway!

Had a lovely meal last Friday, the food was excellent, would definitely recommend the set menu,it was delicious , particularly the pa nanga curry.

I really like this place. The staff were really nice, the decor is fine, the food is really good, especially considering the prices. A good range of Asian cuisine. I'll def be going there again to try some of the other dishes.

Great food for a really good price. The service rendered was really good as well and they took my call for takeaway really quickly and handled it well despite the various things I ordered and specifications. The Malaysian fried rice was good and the Kam Hiong chicken was so delicious (wish it had curry leaves though) but still it was so good!! Had a mee goreng which was not what I'd call a mee goreng but was more of a Singapore noodle instead?! For a Singapore noodle, it was nice but not a mee goreng.

Is lemongrass under new management? I went there yesterday and I have to say I feel forced to write this review. First on entrance the place looks dead with cheap furniture looks like a cafe, menu looks cheap, the lighting in the ladies toilet very dark. The staff are not welcoming at all and abruptly when talking to you. One staff member was telling of another in front of customers. Food was not bad but not excellent for the price I paid. The bill has no break down In price, just hand written amount. I was disappointed because I expected restaurant service and ambiance. Maybe they should just be a take away.

Close to Watford Junction and the hotel we were staying in, we took a party of 7 here for an early dinner. There is a very wide choice on the menu and you can mix Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese and Thai. It’s not fancy but it’s perfectly satisfactory and we thought the food was generally very good although some of the starters seemed to have been reheated, the mains were piping hot and fresh.

If you months ago I ordered from the shop I think people should know how rude and nasty some Chinese takeaway is can be specially to disabled people when you explain that you don't drive and you cannot return the food they get very angry I ordered a meal and I ordered crispy chicken what I got was five pieces of greasy strips of batter I called them and the lady on the phone was very abusive said I had to bring it back myself I told her I couldn't as I don't drive and I've spent quite a lot of money in that shop that night most of the food wasn't up to standard when you're paying for a service and you end up just with bit greasy batter I could you just going to check the chip shop and asked them to fry some better for me the lady on the phone Needs know some manners

My favourite Thai restaurant. Amazing quality food as well as being very well priced. I've tried most Thai restaurants in the Watford area and this is by far the best. If you are vegetarian you'll be especially impressed by the menu and they have a sushi chef! Good mix of Thai with Chinese and Japanese options too.

My daughter booked this restaurant because it looked upper class and posh on website. Imagine our dismay when we arrived and it was a bit like Joe's Cafe. Both Service and food could be improved on.

Ordered from here today had the special fried rice which was awful the meat wasn’t fresh, had the roast pork which was horrible the meat didn’t taste fresh and the sauce was supposed to be thick and bbq tasted nothing like described, also had the crispy beef which wasn’t as good as it was the last time I ordered. Let’s just say it use to be good but for the price you pay you might aswell go to London and get decent Chinese/Japanese

A surprisingly very good place to eat in a rather remote location. They have a good selection on their menu and the sesame prawn toast was amazing. Only thing I would say is the shrimps still had the tail on, which was off putting

This restaurant/ takeaway was recommended to us as our usual one was closed . We ordered two protein dishes , one egg fried rice and a bag of prawn crackers Meal was delivered by Uber eats The food was awful to put it politely Meat in beef kungPo was tasteless , onion was all outer skin , raw and tough Sauce was like brown water with raw red chilli thrown in Not infused or cooked in with the dish In my opinion pre cooked and micro waved from freezer Terrible Chicken curry no better and egg fried rice tasteless Cannot stress how bad this meal was and cost nearly £35 for three dishes and a half bag of prawn crackers I’m not sure who has written reviews raving about the food ? I was charged nearly £6 to deliver this disgusting bag of food which included a service charge ( for take away ???) And priority delivery charge ? On top of a normal delivery charge Total rip off from start to finish If you appreciate good Asian food this is NOT the restaurant/ takeaway to eat from Totally VILE

We had a long dark hair in the coconut rice. Food was delivered by Uber Eat so after checking a bit deeper about the restaurant on the Uber Eat app we noticed that Lemon Grass got a Health & Safety visit on the 21 May 2021 giving them a 1 star rating which is low enough to make some hygiene improvements. Order was made today 07/09/2021 looks like wearing a net on your hair in the kitchen is still not implemented…
