Having frequented this restaurant for more than ten years, I believe it's high time I shared my thoughts. Without fail, each visit has been a delightful experience, with the delicious food and attentive staff consistently exceeding my expectations. This establishment has truly become a go-to dining destination for me, and I eagerly anticipate my next visit. For those seeking a dependable restaurant offering mouthwatering south Indian dishes and warm service, look no further. This place has earned its spot as a regular haunt for me, and I wholeheartedly encourage others to give it a chance.

Most authentic south Indian / Sri Lankan dishes ... I love them...and the owner and staff are so warm and welcoming!!!!!

Get the Mutton Chettynadu with some rice and you'll find that part of your soul you were missing.

Only put 1 star because I had to. Longest wait ever, chef kept saying 10 minutes 3 times!

Mixed review. Best dosa in Watford by far. No confusion or hassle like other dosa houses in Watford. Eaten in here before and it's cosy with friendly staff. The owner is a real gentleman. This is my second time ordering food from the Ganesha restaurant. I decided to go with the thali at £10.95 per head it's a bargain. The food was tasty but way too spicy for my wife. I like my curry on the spicy side. The portion sizes were good but too much rice for two people. They could easily substitute with another dish. The sweet vermicelli was lush, but needed more of it. The vaida was excellent too. Probably wouldn't order the thali again unless I was on my own. Like I said, I highly recommend their dosa, noodles, matar paneer, and iddly as have ordered them before and they were superb. Just be warned. If you chose spicy, you're going to get really spicy! Overall I like Ganesha restaurant and we used to eat in their many years ago. Lovely people that run the place.

Its been over a year since I was last able to visit. I had been craving a good dosa for ages and certainly wasn't disappointed today. Freshly made and absolutely outstanding - great value too!

I visited Ganesha last weekend. It was a pleasant experience. I tried the fried chicken kotthu roti, mutton rolls and samosa. The service took quite long. The waiter didn't know about spices or what was in stock. When the food arrived, it was nice, but I wish it spicier than normal. Overall, the food was great value.

Ordered parotta and chicken gravy and mutton gravy , only to find out later it is only the gravy they deliver not even a single piece of chicken and mutton. Was very very disappointed with this service.. wondering why do they specifically say that pls order chicken gravy or mutton gravy then if you just have to send some tomato gravy????

Ganesha has its own charm. Not an Uber spacious restaurant but once seated you are treated like royalty. The food is spot on. Do try the devilled fish, putty with sambar and the mutton kuttu Parotta. It is delish!!!

Great place and lovely Dosa. Kids loved Chocolate dosas too. Your coconut chutney was awesome. If I had to moan about something then prices of your dosas.

We move into heartfordshire a few month ago and tried this restaurant randomly. It was so good and consistent that we go there most Fridays after work, love the dosa, chicken 65, chicken gravy with parota. The amazing food is matched by amazing and warm staff. Love it so much. Thank you

The food here is great, have eaten in and had takeaways. Always been top notch.

Food was average and so was the service. I have ordered from there before and that used to be really good. Hence why I went to eat in. Maybe chef has changed or the management has who knows. They have been a 5 star restaurant before so give it a chance I guess.

Ganesha has to be the best value for money restaurant in Watford. The food is lovely, especially devilled chicken & masala dosa. A must try, but make sure you eat in!

Best Sri lankan takeaway within a 5 mile radius. Wouldn't recommend as a place to eat in though.

Had been there with my friends two times. First time we ordered some vegetable biryani And second time i ordered chickhen lollipops. Had terrible food poisoning both times.Have gone through vomitings and motions and had to visit gp. I thought when it happened for the first time may b its not bcoz of ganesha food. But after second time am damn sure its because of their food. The restaurant management please be careful about your food quality and hyginene as ur playing with people lifes.

Another of Watfords hidden gems. Such amazing food & lovely staff. Really check this place out, especially if you haven't tried Sri Lankan food, this is a special place & delicious food 😋

Nice Indian and Srilankan restaurant

Just had the opportunity to taste "The Best Urundu Wade" since leaving Sri Lanka. We used to frequent Saraswathi Lodge Colombo where we enjoyed authentic North Sri Lankan dishes. It was like a trip back memory lane. The wade offered was just without a doubt the best we have had . If you love authentic Sri Lanka Wade, Urundu Wade and Mutton Rolls Ganesha is the only choice in the area.

Ordered food at 5.45 pm and it's 8:10 pm, still no sign of delivery despite calling two times. Food is apparently ready but driver is on his way, no apologies and no other response. You expect customers to keep waiting for 3 hours past dinner time ? how do you define your service Ganesha? There is always one hour or more delay but todays was the ultimate. I'm expecting the food to arrive COLD and that is IF it arrives and also expected to pay? EXTREMEY DISAPPOINTING

We went for a family (9 people) meal on a Sunday, and we were treated to some absolutely delicious Sri lankan / South Indian food. We had a huge variety on our table, and every dish was highly praised by the person eating it, I had the most delicious Paneer Masala Dosa while looking on in jealousy at my daughters vegetable Thali. The service was amazing, the waiter did so well to listen to my in laws bend his ear about sri lankan food 'back home' and they were so impressed with the food they ordered takeaway as well. Really great value, friendly, delicious, we will definitely be returning soon, I have my eyes on a vegetable thali tray!

Decent South Indian fare. I found the Indo Chinese egg fried rice to be authentic tasting. We prefer mutton biryani from here.

Bought Friday Special South India Thali, according to the manager / owner they don’t serve Sambar or Rasam with their Thali 🥹 Quality of Thali was pretty poor 🙄

Most of the food we had was good but the Vegetarian Thali was the worst one I ever had.

Visited this place on a Friday. This is the day they have Thalis. This is a tray of food with different portions of curry and rice. Absolutely delicious. Friendly staff and the people eating in there were friendly as well. Have had takeaways from here in the past that were really nice.

Par excellence. The food is superb and really tasty. We had starters and mains and every item was really good.

Have eaten at Ganesha several times over the last few years and have never been let down by the service or the quality of food. Have brought friends and family here too and they have all been impressed with the food. Have tried multiple Sri Lankan restaurants in the UK and Ganesha is by far the best. Brilliant work by the team here, I hope they realise how good they are and go from strength to strength.

Omg the food here is sooo tasty. Its so fresh and so tasty. My favs Included the chilli paneer starter, chicken friend rice, paranthas with gravy, cauliflour manchurian, alu parantha. It's just made when you order and it's just delicious.

Best South Indian/ Sri Lankan restaurant I have ever visited in England. Amazing Food, Authentic Cuisine, and Very Friendly Service.. I have eaten many times, and every time I have received delicious food.. Highly recommend, and they pay special attention to individual customer requirements. Their food is ok but they are definitely scam artists. I made an order on deliveroo and they missed out one part of my order. When I called them, they tried to say it was in the bag instead of just admitting that they messed up and then when I got deliveroo to arrange a redelivery for the missed item they rejected the order. It’s a shame because the way you have a successful company is through customer loyalty. If you’re rude and lack integrity, then you’ll be destined to fail. So I give these guys 1 more year before they close up shop with their bad attitude towards repeat customers.

We ordered our first Ganesha Sri-Lanakan/South Indian food takeaway last night and were nervous whether it would be good. It was really good! And we are not easily pleased. Medium spice was perfect and as other reviewers state, portions are good. Lamb was just the right consistency, not chewy or undercooked, nor soft and pappy. Prawns really delicious and tasty. All 5 dishes were really lovely, top marks. Keep prices where they are and other local Indian restaurants with higher prices, will lose share to these guys.

Best South Indian/Tamil restaurant in town!

The mutton rolls were exceptional. The taste takes you back to Sri Lanka! What was particularly impressive was that the rolls were filled to the brim with meat and filling, instead of half empty like other establishments. We would thoroughly recommend to any body looking for authentic and delicious food.

The Food Hygiene rating is 1, in addition, staff cannot distinguish between different levels of spiciness when requested by customer. They dont understand the difference between medium, mild and hot. All dishes ordered were too hot. Disappointed, and you need to upgrade your Food Standards Rating.

Ganesha never fails to deliver great food. Their dosas are always light & crispy & they have a wide variety to choose from. I would recommend the veechu roti which is a very thin roti along with any of the curries. Their parantas are also good as are the kothu dishes. A must try.

We visit this unassuming restaurant regularly (travelling 12 miles each way) as the food is just so amazing! My Gobi 65 and Paneer curry along with masala vadai were totally delicious, as was the lunch special (lamb curry with several veg dishes). Will be returning here time and time and time again, gorgeous food. Ordered too much intending to take leftovers home, but left empty plates behind us. Delicious!

Visited first time to order Masala dosa. But the taste was not as I was thinking or expected.

Dosas are amazing. We ordered veg samosa which was raw inside with a strange taste. Portions generally are great.

Warakum ana! I’m a Regular customer as love their home cooked food, fantastic flavours and spices and definitely would recommend to anyone reading this. I ordered the chicken and mutton lamb chettynadu with devilled fried lamb for starters and that was mind blowing LG tasty!!

Classic Sri Lankan dishes. Take advantage of the meal deal, have string hoppers and try the coconut sambol for extra spice. Fish cutlets on the side also! Lovely

At a puberty ceremony me and my family impressed the lunch supplied by Ganesha Restaurant -Watford. Standard Srilankan menu including spicy curries, Rasam, vada, pappadam etc. Really a delicious menu supplier 👍

Good South Indian / Sri Lankan cuisine food. The Rasam, Sambar and the chutney were fresh and great 👍🏽. The veg noodles needs a some thought, paneer 65 was too dry or stiff. Needs improvement. Veg paratha also was good I guess but not the same taste I am used to. Which is fine every chef has his own recipes. I would recommend this place and definitely going to support this local business. Well domes guys.

I am giving 5 star because this is the finest South Indian) Srilankan restaurant arround. They have a limited menu but all the items won't disappoint you. I have made a lot on online orders. The reason I am giving this review now is because just for a change I ordered food from another Srilankan restaurant and got a list of dishes which were real bad I mean real bad.... This is the best place to get your Srilankan food from Dosha , vada, starters , kothu to fried rice highly recommended from my side...

I am new to the area, and was asked by a very discerning friend to order some authentic Keralan/Ceylon food (please note, not "Indian" or "South Indian :) ) For those in the know, Keralan/Ceylon food is cooked differently with different spices and processes. It's not "spicy - hot" but spicy in the true sense of using good flavours and spices. So I find myself at Ganesha with Baskar and Gobi, the two brothers who run it. And they were just amazing. They suggested the items to order (and even told me to order less and come back for more another time :) ). The verdict: Superb food. Perfect portion sizes. And amazing people. It was all cooked to order, and tasted as it should. I'll certainly be coming back :)

Their option to deliver is amazing. I especially love their pacoras! I love everything about them except that the food is too spicy.

We ordered a takeaway from here, we ordered the mutton rolls, the mutton kothuroti, chicken 65 and the small Tiffin with 3 idlis, 1 vadai and sambar chutney. Mutton rolls - flavourful and spicy (as they should be!) But dry Chicken 65 - I wouldn't order this again, dry and chewy and not full of the 65 spices as it should be Idli, vadai, sambar and chutney - the actual idli and vadai were soft, fresh and really well made. This was let down by the sambar and chutney which were bland and not authentic in taste Kothuroti - this was the star of the show 😀 a classic Sri lankan dish made so well! Tasty, full or flavour and the mutton was so tender and well cooked - could have been spicier but appreciate they need to cater to all tastes. Would definitely return just for the kothuroti!

Highly irresponsible staff... specifically requested for no chilli for my kids Uttapam and ended with loads of chilli leaving my kid crying in pain. What if someone has serious allergy and they land in a hospital. Extremely disappointed.

I specifically requested not to put chilli in Uttapam as it’s for my kid however it was filled with Chilli... my 9 years was in all tears and crying. Really disappointed
