Ordered a take away at 7.12 pm today 27/04/24. States an hour for delivery. Rang at 8.35pm. I was told it had just left, and would be 10 minutes. Okay that’s fair enough, still early, I thought to myself. 9.05 pm still waiting, so rang up and cancelled 😡 Alas I will not be giving them my custom. 2 hours to long to wait, and I don’t like been lied to.

We tried Bengal Fox for a takeaway tonight for the first time. Really good vegetarian options. May eat in the restaurant next time.

My wife and I had a superb dinner here...2 nights in one week we enjoyed it so much! Food is well presented and very tasty. I was for the biriani and my wife the Kismiri. We had a nice size portion and didn't have to wait long for the food. Waiting staff were attentive and very friendly.

I was excited to have a relaxing birthday, so I ordered from Bengal Fox rather than cooking. On UberEats, some restaurants fulfill the delivery themselves, so you cannot track the driver. In this case, you need to trust what they tell you. I ordered at 5:15pm and was told the latest delivery time would be 5:55pm. I called at 5:55pm, and was told 10 minutes. No problem, it's still early. So we wait, and call again at 6:10pm, 15 minutes later. "10 minutes," we're told. The worker who answered the phone then hangs up on me, and doesn't pick up any subsequent calls from me. So I then call from my wife's phone. Again, at 6:30pm, I'm told "10 minutes" due to an issue on the motorway. I'm convinced the food isn't coming, so I tell them to skip the order and I get a refund from Uber. At 7:05pm (110 minutes since my order was placed), the delivery driver turns up and we sadly turn him away as I had already cooked some frozen food for dinner, on my birthday.

This was actually for a delivery on line The food is always good. Direct on line to order wouldn't allow delivery so had to go by Just eat £3.95 extra for the same item . I did agree to the order but feel Bengal Fox owners need to be aware and to be honest I will not do it again

Very disappointed with our food from this restaurant. Cost £47 for food that lacked so much flavour and had a thick layer of oil on top. Looking at the good reviews made us feel confident that we were going to get great food but these people must have unreliable taste buds as we did not agree. The jalfrezi and madras tasted very similar and were the same in colour. The prices are too high for the quality of this food. Will not be eating here again. Giving 1 star for the delivery times and driver.

Easy to order from the on line menu, it all arrived complete and on time and it was delicious. We'll be back!

Went here for a work meal and the staff were really friendly and inviting, the curry was nice and flavoursome with nice soft rice and great poppadum. It was a clean and inviting environment. The only thing which needs some attention is the benches out the front they have seen better days

After receiving our delivery order we quickly realised that some items were missing from the order. We called the restaurant and were given no apology. Not good enough. This negative review could have been avoided had there been some semblance of an apology and could have been remedied with a goodwill gesture. Apart from thay the food was mediocre and cold. GO TO THE CHEQUERS IN FORDHAM INSTEAD!!!

Excellent evening meal. Two types of chicken Jalfrezi , a chicken dish with coconut and a lamb dish. An exemplary Nan bread. One of the best curries we have had for a long time!

Ordered papadums mango chutney and mint sauce, chicken tikka balti and salmon shashlik balti but swopped one of the rice's for a plain naan. After eating our papadums we then went to eat our main meal only to find out that we didn't have our naan. After several attempts to call them we finally got through. The lady on the phone apologised and went to speak to the manager, after speaking to him she said that they will be making one straight away and will be sending it out to us. It didn't take long to arrive but I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't that hot. Anyway there was lots of balti enough for four people and it was full of flavour and the sauce was nice and thick. Will definitely order again despite the mix up with the naan.

I'm half Indian and grew up in the west midlands. So I know my curry. This was oily, fatty and generally quite poor. Spice level was not what they advertise, much lower, food was fatty, huge chunks of peppers (like half a pepper). Won't be trying this again.

me and my friend ordered for the first time last night and we were BLOWN AWAY with the quality of the food we received. The lamb cutlets were succulent with the most incredible sauce and both our curries where absolutely delicious. I would not change anything at all. I highly recommend you order from here!!

On a rare visit down to see relatives we thought it would be a nice treat to have a takeaway from Bengal Fox having used them before and been happy with quality of food.This time however was an exception and none of us will ever be ordering from here again.The Biryani sauce when we opened the lid looked like a soup, had just 1 mangetout and a few other small pieces of random vegetables in it. The taste was absolutely awful so I thought I would just eat the rice which was equally unpalatable. I couldn't eat any of it and it ended up in the bin.The lamb meat in the madras was so chewy that another family member also went to bed hungry that night as he was only able to eat the sauce and rice.Overall very disappointing and an experience that won't be repeated.

We live in Burwell and have had a take out with the Bengal Fox a few times now. I thought it was time to write a review. The delivery service was second to none! So speedy and efficient. Our curries were so flavoursome and I couldn't fault a thing.If you are thinking about ordering a take away or eating in JUST GO FOR IT!

Exceptional food.This really is a gem of a restaurant. I have had take out from here a number of times and been thoroughly impressed. Food came neatly presented and looked like it was carefully put in takeaway tubs. My partner doesn’t do spice so we have sampled the tikka masala, butter chicken and the korma. They were all delicious, will be ordering again!

Having ordered from the Bengal Fox in the past (before lockdown) and been pleased with the quality and delivery speed, we decided to try it again tonight. We were very pleased. Both Chicken Rogon and Chicken Dansak were delicious and all food arrived hot. We were quoted 55 mins wait, but our food actually arrived in less than 45 mins, so we were very impressed. Will definitely be ordering from them again.

Absolutely inedible! Dhansak was okay, but the tandoori chicken starter and chicken tikka were wet and slimey. Clearly not cooked in the traditional way - we didn't even give to the dog they were that bad!Really expensive too considering the portion sizes were so small.Also asked how much including delivering - had the money ready and when the guy turned up the bill was £3 more than quoted.I cannot emphasise enough how bad this was. £40 in the bin!

We ordered takeaway - an average tasting jalfrezi and over sweet butter chicken. I had stomach issues the next day clearly related to the jalfrezi. Much better Indian restaurants in Newmarket. Wouldn’t return.

looked good, but whole family were ill. I should have known really , it took 2 hours to deliver, so one hour over the time slot, blame myself for thinking food after that point would have been ok. NO APOLOGY from Bengal fox, in fact , totally disrespectful and rude on the telephone ..They told me to go elsewhere

We live in the village and are regulars here simply because the food is always brilliant. They offer the same menu as take-away too which is dangerous/wonderful whichever way you look at it!

Disappointed with the vegetable curry - it was dry full of onions and a large greenish stalk but not a lot of much else! When we pointed it out to the member of staff he disagreed but then gave us a discount on the fish because he said we had eaten most of it. Apart from that service was ok and the chicken dish was fine - We won’t be bothering again

It was a Thursday night and we were 4 people turned up without reservation. The friendly staff welcomed us which was very impressing for a start. We had most of the Chef's Recommendations (regional dishes) and the taste and essence of food was just fantastic. Can promise that didn't have that authentic flavored Indian Food for many years in the UK. We spent around 120 Pounds and it was REAL GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY. Highly would recommend my friends and family, specially for their exclusive special dish like, SEA MIX BHUNA, GHAR KA GUST (Lamb Shank) and many more. Bengal Fox made our night out really well worth.

My family and I visited the Bengal Fox for a classic Indian meal, we were miss gendered and spoken to with snide comments and remarks from the staff. Although at the end they apologised for their outrageous and harmful language it was not acceptable behavior from any establishment providing a service. When we asked for a reduction to the bill based on the fact that our food contained Brussels Sprouts and other Sunday roast vegetables in a Jalfrezi, as well as being rudely spoken to they laughed and refused. The food was warm at most.

Very good venue. 8 of us went on a Friday night and it was very busy. A bit cramped on our table but we managed OK. A clean and tidy restaurant offering a wide variety of spicy food. Service was good and no problems. Food hot and tasty and presented extremely well. Price about right for what you get. A very enjoyable evening and we will make regular bookings to certainly go again.

Ordered a takeaway Friday night and couldn’t fault it! From the phone call to order to end perfect, when takeaway arrived, driver was very polite and not worried how weather was starting to change to give us a really lovely tasting Indian meal, highly recommend!

The table was laid out nicely and the high chair we requested was in place. Restaurant was clean and smart. Waiters were attentive, took our drink and (obligatory) poppadom order once we were seated, and then took our food order when we were ready rather than interrupting us when we were still discussing the menu (like other restaurants do). Any questions we had about the food were answered straightaway. We had hot plates (thumbs up), food was served to the correct person without asking who ordered what. Food was delicious, a bit too much for one of the guests who took a doggy bag home and is looking forward to tonights tea! We had taken a birthday cake and the restaurant supplied us with plates free of charge. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

We visited the Bengal fox for a night out meal .the food was great flavour was fantastic in every curry .it was very tasteful .house special dish Ghar Ka ghoust chili fusion was enjoyable . The service was really good .definitely will go back again and will recommend to every one .

We ordered a takeaway meal from here that had no flavour at all just a burning feeling it was only a madras the garlic naan couldn’t of been any dryer, this is the worst Indian I have ever had in my life.

So often, you visit Indian restaurants and whilst the flavours hit the spot, the meal is let down by pre cooked cheaper cuts of meat. It's wonderful to see that The Bengal continues with the initial ethos that Bob & Lou from The Fox installed into the restaurant, insisting on quality freshly cooked meats. Their input at the start and the current owners continuation of this makes The Bengal I believe still one of the best in the area.

I pickup a takeaway at six pm on a Friday so they were not busy. It was so bland it was almost tasteless and one of the dishes was a special which was supposed to be very hot. The paratha was soggy and tiny, not worth £2. I had takeaways here before, about a year ago it was lovely, 6 months ago not so good and this time useless.I phoned the restaurant and complained,asking if they had changed chefs but they said they had not and if I come again they would offer a small discount, hardly what should have been offered and why would I pay again for such rubbish food?If you like indian food do not go here!

Take away order. The garlic bread was stale and cold. Both the Balti, mushroom Baji and dansak were tasteless and bland. Will not be returning again!

Saturday night take-away - we telephoned our order through and then picked it up 40 minutes later. The lamb pasanda, chicken pasanda and lamb balti were all very good.

That was my first visit since the new people took over few months ago and I didn't think it could get better than it was already. But it has. This is the best Indian meal I have had so far in the UK. The menu offers an interesting selection of dishes you wouldn't necessarily find elsewhere. I like the fact that they have included duck in the choice of meats. From the poppadoms which are so light, crispy and freshly baked to the dips which seems to be homemade then going into the meat Thali which is a selection of several little dishes you can try for a very reasonable price of £12 on Wednesdays, I can only just say you have to try it. It's just excellent. I still don't know how they manage to cook their rice. You often hear on TV cooking shows famous chefs saying your rice must be "light and fluffy". Until I tried the rice at the Bengal Fox I didn't realise you could eat such thing. It is just delicious. The wine list is very good with a gif selection. I tried the Chianti which is excellent but I would recommend the New Zealand Malborough. This is the best white wine I have ever drunk and I am not that keen on white. It's a must visit and definitely go again to try more of the special dishes.

My partner chose the Bengal Fox for a celebratory meal. We were not disappointed with her choice. My partner enjoyed the meat tali and my chicken passanda was lovely. Washed down with a delightful bottle of Chianti, the dining experience was a pleasure worth repeating....often

5 of us went for a meal at the bengal fox 8.30 on a friday evening ,every one of us really enjoyed the food ,the menu had several dishes you will not find in your local high street tandoori plus the ones you will ,the service was great and draft indian lager went down a treat.cant wait to go back and try another dish i havent had before

I have eaten here regularly over the last year or so and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and very tasty, with excellent specials and authentic dishes. We have friends who still rave about the Bengal Fox and wish that they had something as good nearer where they live. The take away is good, but dining in is better. Good service, nice decor and draft Kingfisher beer. The goat Ka Bhuna is delicious, but everything we have tried is also delicious!!

This was our first visit to the Bengal Fox, and this time it was for a take-away. We telephoned our order through, for collection. We ordered five main dishes plus a number of sides. We were told it would be about forty minutes and I arrived at the restaurant just before then to collect it. The food was ready right on time, all neatly packaged up. The food was very good, hot and tasty - and we look forward to eating in the restaurant itself.

used this local takeaway one evening, instead of my usual in Newmarket. Food was appalling. Indian food is my favourite. I mostly use Newmarket Indian Cuisine, or Lancer, so I know a good Indian meal when I taste it. Bengal Fox is VILE. Yuck!

We arrived at 1930 on a Friday evening to find that we were the only ones in the Resturant but more arrived as our meal progressed. We were greeted and shown to our table offered popadoms and left to look at the menu. There was a lot of choice but were left a good amount of time to make our decision. The waiters were attentive and we enjoyed the atmosphere of the resturant and the food was flavoursome and very enjoyable I had the bengal kurma and my husband lamb ghosh kabalia which we would recommend. The meal was good value and we will be going again and would recommend to a friend.

We try lots of Indian restaurants and this one is very good. Their menu is small but great choice. Good value, not over expensive.

We were staying in the area and popped to the Fox pub for a drink, where we found this restaurant, we were there early, and it did get pretty busy (friday eve). the food was great, the kids loved it. Would happily eat here again.

We have been here a few times and decided during the pub's ale and cider festival to go in for dinner as an alternative to the BBQ outside. Because of festival, I presume, they were actually fairly quiet inside, however the food that came out was amongst the best Indian food we have had from any establishment and certainly the best since the relaunch as the Bengal Fox (and further re-launch after Christmas).I had the Rajhastani Murgh and my wife had the Tandoori chicken, both were extremely good. The nan's were fresh, hot and fluffy. The mushroom rice was also tasty.Great work!

We ate early so not many people present, so not a great atmosphere, but the service was quick and pleasant. We ordered a prawn special of the board and we both really loved it. Had a very good Bhuna with this and some sides, all very tasty. We will visit again when we revisit the area.

We went out for dinner on a Friday night & there were 2 other couples there & no one else. The service was great & food was delicious, but the music was inaudible & it was a bit awkward because we could all hear each other's conversations. Overall a pleasant meal though.

I ordered this evening from the newley reopened Bengal Fox. I recently moved to the village and live very near to the fact x so thought I would give it a try. We usually go to The Lancer to Montaz in Newmarket and always have exceptional food from both restaurants.OMG Quite frankly they should have left it shut!!!!! If this is the standard of food they serve, they should not be allowed to call themself an Indian restaurant.The food was utterly disgusting, tasteless, watery and artificial! It is a disgrace to call this place an Indian restaurant. I ordered poppadums with chutney, lamb samosas, onion bhajis, chicken korma with pilau rice, chicken tikka masala with plain boiled rice, chicken tikka dhansak and vegetable rice, circa £40.There is no way on this earth I would ever go back to this placeI ended up going to the Co-Op in the village to get a curry, which was far superior to the rubbish served here! Please do not go here if you want to have even a half decent meal.

This was our first visit to the Bengal Fox since its reopening and this visit was the best! There were six in our party and we all chose different dishes with chicken and lamb, which were all beautifully presented. The meat was succulent and tender in all the dishes and the flavours were stunning. All the portions were perfect amounts and piping hot. The staff were very professional and friendly, which made for a very enjoyable time. So glad that the Bengal Fox is up and running (brilliantly) again and we will be back again and again.

Just had a very pleasant evening with a Burwell couple in the Bengal. We tried a bit of everything, and it was all top quality. Tasty, served timely and presented well, by skilful waiters. Well priced, good choices. Recommend to book as not very big, and very popular.

I was really looking forward to our first take away from the 'new' Bengal Fox.However, despite the meat being tender and first class, 3 of the sauces were all the same colour and uncooked macerated onion pervaded two of the dishes.The Lamb Pathia and Lamb Dhansak were harsh. We like spicy curries but these were just hot, no real flavour. The Bombay Aloo was ok but not exciting and the Chicken Korma passableThe takeaway containers were full of sauce disguising how little meat there was - it would be nice to see the meat when you open the containers.The homemade naan was stunning and the pilau rice tasty if a bit oilyThe Bengal Fox is our local and I desperately want to see it improve and succeedPerhaps we'll try again?????

I have to say I wasn't blown away by the food but the presentation of the restaurant was very good and it was easy to find. Located next to the Fox pub, they share the same building. Plenty of drinks on the menu, drinks from the pub cannot be taken into the restaurant.

I love food and I am not afraid to try anything and everything. Since the Bengale owned I have been 3 times and have enjoyed the best Indian cuisine I have ever had in this country. Is full of flavours and you can taste every ingredients one street one. That was the most enjoyable foreign country food experience I have ever had. The prices are reasonable and the members of staff are lovely. I like the way they have redecorated the room it's warm and had a lovely atmosphere. I also tried for the 1st time a white wine from New Zealand,I am not particularly keen on whites but this one, I had no problem at all to drink it. I will be back worth my friend soon.

This small Indian diner is attached to a local village pub, and is a must visit if you are in the area of Burwell. The food is of a high standard with very generous helpings being served. The staff are attentive however I can't help thinking that an extra pair of hands is needed in the kitchen as we had a very long wait for our food and the restaurant was only 30% capacity. However the quality of food made up for the delay.I would recommend booking as we had previously had to accept a takeaway on a Saturday night because we hadn't made a reservation. Didn't make that mistake this time.

Ordered takeaway from the Bengal Fox. I went inside to order and the scenery was very pleasant and modern. The staff were friendly and informative when I had to ask if the dishes I was interested in were vegan. The delivery took a very long time to come, however. This can be excused as we were ordering for a group of people and the curry when it arrived was absolutely amazing. When it arrived it was very delicious and filling, the spice levels were very nice and I was impressed by the large pieces of veg in the vegetable chana, it had a nice level of spice and was bursting with pieces of veg and chickpeas, absolutely delicious. Paired with the mushroom rice and spicy Dall Samba (and I say this because it was advertised as spicy and didn't fail to deliver, was absolutely delicious!) this made an incredibly delicious, spicy and filling meal and I would highly recommend this place for takeaway and I hope to dine in here at some point as the interior looked lovely!

Our family always enjoy a visit to the Bengal Fox. The food is consistently tasty and the environment minimalistic and modern, set in the pretty village of Burwell. My son of seven years reckons it's the 'best restaurant ever'.

I have been visiting The Bengal Fox twice within three weeks. I must say I have been impressed both times as I had two excellent meals. It started with the wine, Sauvignon blanc, New Zeland the Marlborough. I am not a great fan of white wine but I must admit I have become a huge fan of this one. Then we shared som papadum. They were freshly made, still very slightly warm, so crispy and light, the best ones I have ever had. I decided to chose a special dish. I usually pick up those just to avoid the very traditional bhuna or other dishes you can find in all Indian. I always think the specials will give you a proper taste of the real cuisine of a country. I got a lamb dish with spinach. It was absolutely lovely but where I really got impressed is with the rice. I always order a pilau rice. Have you ever heard in the cookery programs, especially Master Chefs, when they tell the chef "your rice is light and fluffy and perfectly cooked". Well I have always wondered what they mean about that's? Not anymore as I was lucky enough to experienced such rice. Absolutely amazing! The last things to comment about is the dining room itself, very nicely decorated, warm and stylish and the staff who are very welcoming and do know how to serve and please the customers. I will certainly go back again.

flavor was not there , only the tandoori chicken and starter dips were the saving grace in this meal. staff did not ask if food was ok or come and ask for more drinks etc, vindaloo madras and curry all tasted and looked the same , will not return as had so much better all around the region. could be so much better

Now Bob and Lou are at the helm, this is a great place to enjoy an excellent curry. The food is reasonably priced, the atmosphere is modern, fresh and relaxing. A great authentic curry. Don't miss Thali night on a Wednesday

This was my first visit since the Bengal Fox reopened with Bob and Lou at the helm.The whole restaurant is pleasing to the eye, refurbished to a very high standard, with clean cut lines and superior decor adding to the ambiance. Even the crockery catches the eye, being of unusual design. The friendly welcome and prompt service is to be commended.The food far exceeded my very high expectations. We all ordered different dishes. Crispy poppadoms with freshly served accompaniments were getting our taste buds ready for a delightful main course. My King prawn Dansak was delicious and 'toned down' exactly the way i like it. Onion bhajis my particular favourite were served with a fresh salad ( i could have eaten four more no problem!) Sag aloo and coconut rice completed this fine dining experience for me. At the and of our meal when asked if we wanted to take home anything left, we all laughed at the sight of empty plates and dishes! Keep on doing what you are doing, you do it so well. Thank you.

Its always a delight to go to The Bengal Fox knowing the food is fresh and always tasty. Staff will offer advice and the daily specials board is to die for. My wife particularly likes the fish curries. Unfailingly friendly, it is a delightful restaurant which I can recommend to anyone - and the house wine is good, which is a bonus!!
