Decent Dim Sum, but Service Needs Improvement We were looking for a good dim sum spot in Newcastle and came across several recommendations for Happiness Inn, so we decided to give it a try. First impressions weren’t the best—the restaurant felt a bit run down, and since it’s located upstairs, we weren’t sure if there was wheelchair access. It’s definitely a no-frills kind of place. That said, it wasn’t too busy when we arrived (about a third full on a Saturday lunch), and we were seated quickly. However, what really disappointed us was the lack of service. No one came over to ask about our tea or drinks—a basic courtesy in any dim sum restaurant. Even more frustratingly, other diners who arrived after us were served tea and had their orders taken without even asking. Despite there being four or five waiting staff standing around, we had to gesture for attention after sitting there for about 15 minutes. I was close to walking out, but my partner managed to flag someone down. Thankfully, the food itself was decent. While some dishes were a bit bland, the portion sizes were generous, and to our surprise, the prices were very reasonable—much lower than expected, making it great value for money. However, another letdown was the lack of egg tarts—they only serve them on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, which was a disappointment. Overall, Happiness Inn is worth trying if you're after affordable dim sum, but don’t expect great service. Be proactive when trying to get the staff’s attention!

We have been coming to Shobab for decades. It serves the best Indian food in Whitstable, reliably and consistently. I love the king prawn puri, and the chicken shashlik. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I have no hesitation in recommending Shobab... Spread the word!

I really like this place, I go somewhat regularly with family or my husband, and seems to be really good each time. The staff are friendly and are understanding when I change parts of a dish as I am fussy with food! 90% of the time we sit in the restaurant but we have ordered takeaway once and we weren't that impressed after our experience of sitting in before. What is a bit annoying is that they don't use the same quality ingredients for the takeaway. A dish I usually go for is a chicken chow mein, in the restaurant they're super thin noodles, tender chicken and just a generally nice flavour I enjoy a lot. But for the takeaway away, they use normal noodles that are larger, and there's not much flavour, what there was, I didn't really enjoy. Just a shame as we loved what we got in restaurant and not the same for takeaway! Probably a cost thing, but absolutely should be the same! It is always pretty quiet, but I don't mind, actually quite nice. Definitely going to keep going, but only to sit in!

I have to say I’ve been going to this place for years now and it is definitely the best Indian in Manchester for value taste and just some really top quality Indian food. I would advise you try this restaurant if you haven’t before as it is truly fantastic.
