A lovely independent family run business. Nice fresh healthy food and very friendly staff. Vastly better than the PLC dividend machine that recently opened opposite.
I happened to be at a loose end in Canvey Island, saw a banner advertising Anita’s Tearoom, and went to see what it was like - it was worth the diversion along the sea wall! I had the 10 item breakfast, and it was served quickly and in a friendly fashion, and was very tasty (special recommendation for having Irish White pudding on the menu which was a very pleasant surprise)
Reasonably priced and enjoyable. Certainly set me up for the day!
A fascinating exhibition of new work by Cambridge born, London based artist Ian Rawlinson. The exhibition runs from 5th October - 1st November 2024 at the Edge Café. The preview takes place on Saturday 5th October from 6.30 - 8.00pm.
REFRACTOR is an exploration of collective memory as seen through East Anglia's military past. Prints and collages are inspired by connections to places and structures in North West Norfolk. Rawlinson adds intrusions and abstractions to the images, drawing out the notion that these places are portals where different timelines meet. The EDGE CAFÉ is open Mon - Sat 09.00 -16.00
I've been going regularly to this pop-up stall for the last 5+ years. It is one of my favourite places in Basingstoke to grab something to eat...it's just a shame it is only around on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I would probably go here far more often if was open all week. Highly recommended if you catch them in town. This is definitely THE place for Thai food in Basingstoke...I haven't seen anything this good since Kwai 2 closed down in Lychpit.
It is authentic Thai food with great variety of choice. I will usually buy some Moo Ping (pork skewers), chicken satay or fish cakes if I am after a bite of lunch; I buy the Chicken Massaman if I want to buy something for dinner. The aromatic and natural flavours are definitely different (in a good way) from the Asian "chain" eateries in Festival Place. It's as authentic as it gets.
The servings are very generous and prices represent value for money...they could put the prices up a bit and it would still be decent. They only take cash so you need to come prepared...the only cash I have around in my room is literally just a fund for this place.
The only downside is that there is often a 5-10 minute wait to be served as they are very busy. I think this is a combination of them being very popular but also service being relatively slow. I have sometimes baulked at the queue and regrettably had to eat somewhere else due to time constraints.
Called in Saturday night, ordered four various dishes, and as always, absolutely first class.
I live in the next village that has two Chinese takeaways that don't even come close, worth the travel every time.
Everyone enjoyed, and we will definitely return.
Fantastic little find. Wiggle through the wine shop to find a lovely little bar at the back with helpful service & a cosy vibe. Really helpful lady running the shift (very well indeed!) recommended a delicious Greek wine which was perfectly reasonable at £33 for a bottle. We’re local & will certainly return!
We were travelling to hawkshead with our little one and needed to stop for lunch, having a google we found nikitas Bistro, and the reviews looked great so we popped in!
Well it didn't dissapont, the bistro is quaint but charming and welcoming with plenty of amazing cakes on display to draw you in.
The team were amazing with out dietary requests and made sure all our food was safe, they were all lovely and welcoming and we had a fab lunch, good portions and well cooked. Some vegan/dairy free alternatives which is amazing for us, we were able to do some switches to make the food safe that they were happy to do for us which was lovely.
Would definitely recommend a visit 🌟
