Steak Expectations - Horsham in Horsham

As a lover of food I have frequented many many street food stalls, this is the winner for my partner and I - be sure to check it out!

We popped to Carfax for some lunch and found Steak Expectations. The steak was amazing, there were various options of toppings / sauces and the chap serving was very friendly and pleasant. We would definitely recommend!

What else can I say? Great food cooked with care, the steak was superb and perfectly cooked and the sauces he makes are incredible! The only problem is that it's a 40 mile round journey for me to go there!!

Having tasted Grahame's steaks one afternoon in Horsham, we had no hesitation in booking him for our 40th Wedding Party Celebrations.The steaks were amazing and he himself was charming and helpful. We booked , his communication was poor ie not answering phone calls and messages but we were not unduly worried. We paid our deposit and then the complete balance of the money 2 weeks in advance of the party. Unfortunately when Grahame arrived we were unaware how disorganised he was going to be. Firstly despite being told that someone was being employed to help him , no one turned up . The first few steaks that were cooked were amazing and we were very pleased ,. However shortly after I noticed very long queues for the food. Graham was under great pressure because he believed his gas bottle had run out and was "limping along" trying to get the food cooked.Whilst none of our friends and family actually complained it was extremely embarrassing for us and also meant that while they were queueing they were not chatting or dancing to the band we had employed. In addition having requested gluten free bread which he had promised would be available for my coeliac friends it was not available. The vegetarian option also was unavailable because he was unable to cook the portobello Mushroom ( the main ingredient). The last few steaks had to be cooked inside the venue which I had not wanted as I did not want the smell of frying steaks.The final thing was that 10 guests did not turn up and although a couple of guest had more than 1 sandwich others didn't eat at all. So with the lack of wages paid the extra steaks not eaten I was disappointed that I had paid up front for a service that was sadly lacking.I contacted Grahame after the party and explained that I fully understood his problems but he had not delivered as promised. ,it turned out to be a faulty part not lack of gas . After a little correspondance I received an email from Grahame asking for my bank details so that he could refund some of the money.This was over 1 month ago. After many e mails messages phone calls etc. he still hasn't replied or returned the money.I have really tried to encourage him to reply . I had already recommended him to many people and still say that his skills in producing the steak sandwiches is fine. I could only recommend him as a market trader because I would not want another party to be spoiled like ours was.

Stumbled across this little gem of a stall yesterday at the Brighton Street Diner. Best steak sandwich we have ever eaten. Great to see onglet on the menu as it's practically impossible to find elsewhere in Brighton! Will be returning regularly.

Street food can so often disappoint. Not here. Excellent steak served in such creative ways. Some days he is not in Horsham but other towns are obviously reaping the benefits.

Visited Steakexpectations whilst visiting family in Horsham at Christmas. A rare treat for my husband and I, currently living in a country where a good steak is not available. Succulent and full of flavour. Tasty sauces too. Always something different on the menu to suit every taste. We will be back for sure.

The most delicious steak sandwiches you will ever eat, all lovingly prepared in front of you with fresh ingredients. Friendly owner who just adds to the lovely experience. Find this bright yellow stall and order before he sells out!

Lovely steak sandwich and the owner was really friendly and knowledgeable about the food he was serving. Will definitely be back.

A new enterprise in street food featuring the best steak sandwiches and a lot more..give it a go if you haven't already...you would be daft not to....

Locally sourced meat which is great! juicy succulent and perfectly cooked; gorgeous sauces! I love the classic with jalapeño sauce! This would be great for evening wedding food or corporate events! Nice guy too! Deffo recommend! Will be back

Huge variety, delicious and local! Highly recommend. The creative mix of sauces make every food option a real treat.

Having first seen SE in the market place back in September, I quickly decided to try it. I had the Thai-GRR. The steak was beautifully cooked, the flavours amazing. The following week, my partner joined in, she isn't a steak fan but she devoured hers before I got a look in, she has been converted! I also tried the Nutty Cow and the Guaca-have-one. New favourite must be the Nutty Cow, Cannot wait to go back and have a superb bit of food whilst supporting local trader. Thankyou Steak Expectations for some wonderful food, we will be back!

Unmissable bright yellow stall specialising in 'steak sandwiches' which has been a feature of Horsham Markets on Saturdays for four weeks now. The proprietor is clearly passionate about his product and I can attest, based on one purchase so far, that it is of very good quality. You can have one with almost any sauce imaginable, including hot chillis. Definitely worth trying and easily beats the type of thing you'd get at a burger joint.
