Misato Japanese in City of London, Westminster

I like Misato for its food and the perfect location. We had the luck of finding a table pretty quickly as it is a usually a busy place in the centre of London. Had a really tasty udon which I do recommend as it’s a good quantity too.

Wow this Japanese restaurant is amazing. Small but cosy, always visit this restaurant When I’m in London. The food is really the best , especially the chicken Katsu curry rice. I will always order the chicken or pork Katsu curry rice when I’m here!

The place is cozy. The service is excellent. He atmosphere is wonderful. And the food could not be less. In addition to affordable prices and THEY DO NOT CHARGE YOU FOR TABLE SERVICE! If you want to eat well this place is ideal.

really tasty food, big portion and friendly staff. i visited alone for lunch and had the teriyaki salmon bento box with miso soup which was perfect for a rainy day.

Came here to eat on a busy Saturday at 4pm Was seated almost instantly. Staff very friendly and organised. The actual decor needs a bit of a spruce up. Table and chairs were very close to each other, walls appeared a bit dirty and I was sat in front of a metal electric heater which was very dusty. The staff all had big smiles on faces, were professional and attentive. The menu has a good selection. Myself and my partner had rice dishes which were very filling with good portions sizes. The food itself wasn't the best I've tasted and was cold. The place needs a renovation and a review of the menu.

A highly recommended site. We ordered two dishes, both with generous portions and impeccable presentation. The quality and flavor were exceptional, with value for money that is hard to beat. The chicken curry, in particular, was a real revelation, certainly one of the best dishes I've ever had.

Debería haber pedido curry grande de pollo katsu, que por su "grande", es en realidad un tamaño regular normal, para adultos con apetito regular. Mi hijo de 6 y 9 años pulió su propio udon de karage MÁS mi pequeño pollo Katsu curry entre ellos. Tristemente este no es el mismo restaurante que era precovid. Diré que el personal es súper amable, encantador y profesional y sirven con una sonrisa cuando el pequeño restaurante está cayendo y con una línea fuera de la puerta. Me encanta el personal.

Superb restaurant at the entrance to Chinatown! What a pleasant discovery! Very attentive service despite the large crowds, delicious dishes, a varied menu and very reasonable prices! We went there twice and what wonderful surprises!

Nice and inexpensive place to eat in Chinatown. The servers are very nice. Ask for tap of water, if water in a carafe suits you because it also saves money.

This is an absolute value for money place for Japanese food.

Great little spot in the heart of Chinatown. Nice atmosphere and decent service. Ordered the chicken katsu curry with rice which was really simple but very flavourful. Costs about £40 for 2 people with drinks so decent value for the Westend.

Absolutely divine food, very generous portions and very well priced, especially for London. I ordered a tempura Bento and absolutely everything in my meal was fantastic. My husband ordered a salmon Don and the quality and thickness of the salmon was worth every cent of the price. The dining area was quite crowded but well worth it for how good the food was. If you are looking for good Japanese food at an even better price, please consider stopping here.

Little restaurant and good food

Attended with a friend who is vegetarian. Had very little options for vegetarian food. Cannot comment on the rest.

I had a salted grilled saba fish and Zaru udon. I specifically asked for the udon not too soft and they listened!! My friend had prawn curry rice and it was also good! We also order some nigiri 🍣 and all of them are tasty. In London, these are the normal, decent Japanese foods for daily life. Because the foods are very like homemade foods that I ate in Japan, so I asked the waiter and it turns out it’s a family business and the father and mother are making the foods. That makes sense why the foods are decently good. I cook a lot at home and I know when you should respect to the foods, they must be good. Will definitely come back and try more stuffs. Misato is already in my list when I go to Chinatown. 👍

Tried this restaurant after reading reviews, very tasty Chicken Katsu and Rice, go for large portion, it's normal size main course really. I will be returning, thanks!

We went on the recommendation of a guide and it was a success. The ramen was delicious and fairly priced for what London is. Furthermore, my partner was afraid in case they made his dish too spicy and they brought him a sample to try. They were very kind.

Excellent service and food! Feels authentic

A very busy little restaurant, food is reasonably priced and large portions, I went for the Beef Udon, plenty of beef though it lacked a bit of flavour, the broth was tasty though. Simple and no fuss, the staff are attentive and immediatley asked if I had allergies, I wasn't waiting very long to order or pay either. Would recommend.

Misato is a brilliant find, a reasonably-priced and good-quality Japanese restaurant right in the middle of Leicester Square - and amazingly, not packed full of people when we went. The place is clean and simple, with very fast service, and a good selection of sushi, ramen, udon, and other Japanese staples.

The décor is relatively old, resembling a family-run, traditional eatery. The space is quite cramped and not very comfortable to sit in, yet it’s very popular, and you’ll need to queue for a table during meal times. Chirashi Don The sashimi is relatively thick-cut. While the freshness doesn’t quite match what you’d get in Japan, the generous portion makes it satisfying. Sushi Bento It looks quite substantial and is filling, but something about it feels a bit off. Melon Soda The scoop of vanilla ice cream is impressively large, but £5 a cup feels a bit pricey. Considering the price and portion size, it’s relatively affordable for London. However, for those with a refined taste and a love for Japanese cuisine, it might just feel average.

One of the waitresses was especially kind in showing me how to use chopsticks. It is certainly a recommendable place, with reasonable prices and no additional service charge, which sets them apart from other restaurants in the area.

Most genuine hosts ever! We unknowingly walked in after they closed and they were kind enough to offer us a table for 4, with limited availability on the menu. Owner (?) apologized for the limited options, which is very understandable, given they were cleaning up for the night! Food came quickly, was good and all the staff were kind and accommodating, never making us feel like a burden, as they were cleaning up -even cleaned all the menus! An exceptional experience, especially since we walked out of a different restaurant in Chinatown shortly before due to the exact opposite type of experience. A true gem, Misato!!!

Was looking for somewhere nice to eat and saw this place with a 5* Google rating but..after being here, I can only assume the rating is because of the low-ish prices. The food however, is bad. Really Bad. The sushi box was just overcooked rice with a lot of vinegar and some of the fish smelt strongly fishy (which fish never should). If you've ever eaten sushi before and enjoyed it then you will not enjoy this place. The katsu curry was also bland and the only positive was the tempura but even that needed some flavour. Definitely avoid, don't trust Google 5* ratings! Edited: reflected that wrong smelling fish couldn't be more than a 1 star

Brought my granddaughter for her first taste of Japanese food she'd been wanting to try an we weren't disappointed wonderful tasting food an all came in a good time at a good price 👍🏽👍🏽would definitely go again, I had the beef udon an granddaughter had fried chicken udon..also she had the watermelon ice cream float an she loved it...

Fabulous quick sushi eat in china town.

Misato has become a big disappointment! Over the years, it has turned into an overpriced gimmick, which is such a shame. A decade ago, you could get a massive plate of food for £5.20, and the restaurant had a good vibe that was popular among students. Now, the prices on the menu have more than doubled, the portions have shrunk into small bowls, and the food quality remains cheap and unimproved. Not to mention, the clientele has also changed for the worse. Honestly, I would not recommend this place at all. The food is not great quality and was never meant to be. If you want better value for money, I recommend looking for places in quieter areas around Bloomsbury and King's Cross.

The service was very good... but the food not so much, I ordered the chicken terillaki because having an allergy to shrimp I couldn't order much more and it was a little bad for my taste, I left half the plate

If you miss Japanese food, come here! ! The katsudon was really delicious. The rice was also imported from Japan, and it tasted perfectly delicious. I guess all the store staff are Japanese? When I realized that I was Japanese, I was relieved that they were serving me in Japanese. I was also healed by the proprietress' smile.

This place is worth it. Very cheap and nice katsu curry. But I do not like the salad with it. Overall very good.

Good food selection. Okay generous portion. The udon can be more “appealing” in look but the taste of the soup is nice. Real estate was a bit old. Needed a renovation. Toilet sink was blocked somehow. No high chair for kids though they DIY chopsticks for kids to hold better Seating is quite crowded.

Near Chinatown. The tables are so close together that the space is very narrow. But it didn't matter because the food was so delicious. All the staff are friendly. Chirashi don, beef udon, and two cups of green tea cost 44.5 pounds. I canceled one dish because my order was missing, but they gave me free green tea mochi ice cream. It's so delicious that I think it would be a good idea to order this separately. Chirashidon is really delicious. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes sushi. I ate a lot of sushi during my trip to London, but regardless of the price, this was the best. I recommend going with your parents and not in that kind of atmosphere, but going for a quick lunch with a friend.

Great fried chicken. No service charge.

Arrived around 12 and was fairly empty. Great choice on menu , we went for Bento boxes as couldn't decide . It was amazing , lots of food all very delicious. By the time we left there was a queue at the door . All staff were great, very friendly and helpful.

I was craving for some curry pork tonkatsu and ordered it and did not choose from the staff recommended items. I added a side of miso soup. The pork was a tad modest; quite thin and small and did not taste sweet or fragrant. It was nice to be back at this long-standing establishment. Clean space and attentive staff.

It's been great place to eat with great food, large portions, low prices. However for the past 3 years the prices kept increasing (x2 or higher even...) and portions shrinking. It used to be packed and busy, with lines of people outside waiting, these days - half full. Keep in mind when visiting. Will be visiting other places going forward

I went to this restaurant when I was a student. This Japanese restaurant is located in China town, which is very convenient. It was a rainy day, we got in this restaurant to have some warm food. We ordered chicken tonkatsu (egg on top of fried chicken with sauce), my husband had chicken katau curry large, my son had salmon Maki and edamame. Food, as usual tasty but compared to previously 8, 9 years ago, it has garnish like cabbage slice, tomato, and mayonnaise, which now has taken off. In addition, all prices were gone up due to economic inflation. All in all, it is a convenient place to eat and no service charge at all but highly recommended for tips.

Estábamos en la zona y decidimos conseguir algo de comer de aquí. El lugar estaba bastante ocupado, pero nos mostraron a una mesa de inmediato. Pedimos bebidas que tenía una pinta de Asahi que estaba bien, no está mal en cuanto al precio. Para la comida tenía el pollo katsu arroz al curry (grande) que estaba bien no era el mejor que he tenido, parecía ser más salsa (no parecía ser grande solo una porción normal de arroz y pollo). También tuvimos un poco de "edamame" que estaba bien. En general, el lugar parecía limpio, la comida estaba bien, precio razonable. La ubicación es buena. El personal parecía amable.

Good value for money! The staff were very accommodating and efficient. Orders were promptly served and amenities were clean and orderly. Good serving sizes and very tasty, authentic food. The branch is located in a conveniently less crowded street of Chinatown which was a plus and was fairly easy to get to. I no longer see queue when I come but the food is still good. It got pricier but it's still a good value to eat in central London. I recommend pork katsu teriyaki don. The thing I disliked is the disrespectful server last time I came, probably an intern...

Misato is consistently amazing. Extremely quick service, great prices for London and top notch food. I am a huge fan of the pork katsu curry udon and find myself craving it often😝. The interior is a bit drab though but in a way it adds to the charm.

Very good restaurant, value for money nothing to say. I had the chicken teryaki which was very good and in good quantity. My partner soon had a tempura and it was very good and the quantities were really more than adequate. I only give the atmosphere 4 stars because it's a little noisy but that's really to be critical.
