Cafe TPT in City of London, Westminster

First time eating here thinking it was authentic Hong Kong style cooking, but not only it was not and dishes were quite small. Why the one star rating is because at the end when the bill came, they automatically added a 10% service charge which was no where printed on their menu or advised to us beforehand. On top of this, they also rounded up each dish to the nearest quid. So if it was 13.80 quid, they charged 14 quid. Well we had 4 dishes so that is 80 pence extra they charged. This is dishonest practice imo. We had the roast duck and soya chicken on rice and it was pathetically small with no skin on the chicken as it should have and only 4 very tiny pieces of each for 13 quid they charged iso 12.80. Bubble tea was 5.50 quid and the tea tasted very diluted and did not have any resemblance in taste to an authentic Hong Kong style tea should. At the end I refused to pay the 10% service charge that they wanted to charge due to their dishonest practices. Rounding up each item in price is not right either. I would never recommend CAFE PTP.

This restaurant forces customers to pay a service fee, and the staff are extremely rude and aggressive. The food is also terrible — completely not worth the price. I do not recommend this place at all. Stay away!

Excellent roast meats and very delicious cold milk teas.

The worst 3 roast meat and rice I’ve ever eaten. There was a sweet soya sauce put all over the rice and meats and this stopped the skin of the roast pork from being crispy. The roast pork also had a boar taint flavour to it. Duck was very mediocre and the char siu was hard.

I had a wonderful experience at this Chinese restaurant! The portions were generous, ensuring that I left feeling satisfied. Each dish was bursting with flavor, showcasing the deliciousness of authentic Chinese cuisine. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a delightful outing that I would highly recommend to others!

Small hong Kong style restaurant in china town. Limited number of seats (not sure if they had an upstairs). Food arrived quickly. There was a lot of cigarette smell near the end of our meal and it was quite strong - I wasn't sure where it came from. Ordered the pork chop rice (oven cooked style), hainanese chicken rice, and a pineapple ice drink. Pork chop rice: very large portion. The rice was plain rice. The pork chops were decent, but the sauce was a bit too thick. also felt very thirsty afterwards for the rest of the day, so I'm not sure if they use a lot of msg or not. Hainanese chicken rice: not nice. The portion was quite small, with only a few bits of chicken that had bones, and it felt like the end bits of the chicken. The skin had a lot of hair on still, so wasn't that appetising to look at. The rice was nt too bad but didn't feel like it was a proper hainanese chicken rice. No ginger/spring onion oil sauce, but you get a soya sauce and a chilli sauce. I wouldn't recommend ordering the hainanese chicken here. Pineapple ice: kinda like crushed frozen pineapples. Normal - not my fave, but it was ok. 10% service charge is charged at the end.

We got mango grapefruit sago, which was really delicious. Highly recommend!! Only issue was the service, we were seated and ordered 1 mango sago, as we just wanted to share a dessert among the 2 of us, but the waiter denied saying you need to order atleast 2. Then we asked for takeaway and were told for card payments it has to be above £10, and we ended up getting 2 sagos to go. These limitations just annoyed me overall, ruining the experience. But since the dessert was good, I'd suggest it.

The mango pomelo sago with tofu pudding is so yummy 😋. If U wanna try a dessert taste of Hongkong, it’s worth to come to try !! 🧡

Asian street food, very good price/quality and quick and friendly service. No posh dining, but highly satisfactory! Frog legs with salty egg were especially savoury.

I've eaten at this restaurant several times, the food is simply delicious! I recommend ordering the crispy pork, as well as the tofu dishes! Very authentic and reasonably priced food!

The roast duck was great but there is a mark up for dine in n restaurant still charges a 10% seevice fee 😓

Authentic HK milk tea. Fried beef hor fun okay but a bit oily. Wanton mee not recommended as the noodles were too soft and soup was bland, too. Water grass jelly with yam sago not bad. Staff were helpful though. Last but not least, minimum £15 per person which we didn’t see in the price list outside the cafe but found it when we read the menu inside the cafe.

Amazing Chinese food, very authentic and delicious, good service as well. We had the whole Pekin duck, the Szechuan chicken, fried rice and steamed rice. Would definitely come back 👌🏻

I had an extremely disappointing dinner experience at this restaurant on 27 January 2025. I ordered the duck and crispy pork rice, but it was a letdown from the start. The duck was mostly bones and fat, with very little actual meat. The crispy pork wasn’t much better, as it was similarly fatty and lacked any real texture. To make matters worse, the BBQ sauce was poured on so heavily that it completely drowned both meats, which was frustrating since I couldn’t even taste the flavors of the dishes without being overwhelmed by the sauce. While eating, I began to notice the poor quality of the food and decided to take a trip to the male restroom. To my surprise, there was a leak on the side wall, and I ended up getting my hand wet. This was unacceptable, and when I went to settle the bill, I decided not to pay the service charge due to all of these issues. The waiter, however, seemed more interested in blaming me for not raising the issue sooner, rather than addressing any of the problems with the food or the restroom. He didn’t offer any apology or gesture of goodwill, such as a partial refund or any form of compensation, which made the experience even worse. I left the restaurant feeling extremely frustrated and angry. I won’t be returning, and I highly advise others to think twice before dining here. If you do decide to dine here be sure to double check the quality and quantity of the food BEFORE you give into your hunger as good quality and quantity is not guaranteed at this restaurant!

Not my first choice place for food but it works if you’re having a late night

Service was quite fast. Long queue but get seated after 10 mins of waiting. Food was good.

The food is decent but nothing special. The service was fast and attentive.

For such a small place, they have a great range of dishes - almost too much choice. We had the hot & sour soup - nice balance ; squid - very tender ; brocolli with garlic - perfectly cooked al dente ; singapore fried noodles - good portion size and pretty flavoursome. Going back tomorrow with my son , let’s see if his 🥢 skills have improved 😀

1. All the meat ordered was very, very salty, not Hong Kong-style at all. One bite of meat requires three bites of super "light" fried rice. 2. The egg fried rice is very light + very dry + has a hard texture. I don’t know if it’s because the meat is very salty so it’s cooked very light😲 3. The attitude of the staff and manager during checkout was also very uncomfortable. We just asked the staff if we could waive the service tax, but they directly asked us to ask their manager with a black face. As soon as the manager came out, he morally kidnapped us and asked us who the employee was. If we pointed out that the service was not good, he would handle it. We stressed that we were just asking to see if there was an option and we were willing to pay for it. We also expressed our understanding that the manager said that service tax was a recognition of the employees' service, but the manager was a little bit Feelings of embarrassment and anger, I was treated with inexplicable malice, which made me feel very uncomfortable and a very bad experience. (I cherish every opportunity to eat Chinese food in the UK, but this time I was really disappointed.

Good food. Polite staff. Homey environment. Amazing place ,went for my birthday, been a few times the food is tasty, service, the lady upstairs was polite and the environment was homey.

Hidden corner! It may not be pretty on the outside but the food is authentic, it is very tasty and the owner is very nice (Chinese-English gentleman) and you can also pay by card (unusual in Chinatown) we will repeat!

Used to be one of the best, most authentic Hong Kong style eateries. now overpriced and rude - came with a small child and refused table cause we said fourth person joining but we would go ahead and order, and he refused to seat us! Especially annoying as we began going to this restaurant in 2010 before it was trendy

We bought a whole Peking duck to take home on site. Everything was packed quickly, and there was also delicious dark sauce and tips for preparing it at home. Absolutely great taste, lots of meat. Highly recommended. We also bought a second duck from another restaurant (supposedly the best Chinese restaurant a few blocks away). The one from Café TPT won in all categories (taste, waiting time, friendliness of the staff).

Overall a terrible experience. Zero flavour and chicken kung pao was filled with carrots and very little chicken. To make it worse the service was extremely bad. Extremely rude attitude once you order. Hygiene seems lacking too. Definitely avoid this place.

Food was very authentic and tasty. We had the braised eggplant tofu, wonton soup and mango grapefruit tofu dessert.

Service was painfully slow, place was cramped and the food was okay. the shrimp dumpling was full of prawn which was lovely but the broth lacked flavour. The crispy pork and rice was nice.Egg fried rice was a bit bland and dry.The chicken liver sizzler was nice with big mushrooms. But again lacked a distinct flavour.

An extremely awful experience. The boss was blatantly racist. 非常糟糕的体验，老板对说普通话的顾客极度不友好。 I arrived before 7 PM, and while the restaurant wasn’t full, there were several occupied tables. A white customer was sitting alone at a four-person table and was treated with respect and politeness by the owner of the cafe. However, when I said I wanted to order dessert, the owner refused, saying they don’t serve dessert during dinner hours, and immediately told me to leave. The double standard was obvious — displayed a clear bias. The service attitude here is far worse than most Chinatown restaurants. Completely unacceptable. Avoid this place.

Foods are not really great and outstanding. However, the service attitude is the worst that i have seen. In UK, the tips generally is a discretion. Consumers has absolute discretionary choice whether to pay or not to pay. I asked not to include tips as I don’t see much service in the shop and of coz, it is my discretion. The manager or the owner went mad, scolding me for not paying the tips and so on. He told me not to come back his shop again. To be honest, I will not come to this shop , without needing his reminder.

The worst Chinese food I've ever had. Very bad quality food. I couldn't eat most of it. I asked the waiter what they recommended and ordered a pork chop with rice dish and a drink. The drink was icy and had beans in it. The main meal was terrible, it seemed like pre-prepared egg fried rice with very fatty pork on top, and a sugary sweet and gloopy yellow sauce on top. It all tasted like it had been cooked way in advance. One table nearby that I started a conversation casually before eating asked the waiter what the dish contained when it arrived and she said she didn't know. She invited the manager over who told the people near me it was not cheese but a not spicy curry but couldn't give details about the ingredients. It gave me the impression they didn't even know what it was made of. It was so bad I couldn't eat most of it and couldn't finish my drink either. I spent just over 22 pounds on what appeared to be preprepared or microwaved food of very low quality. Chinatown is a tourist trap in my view, the restaurants here invest most of their money in rent and not much money in food quality and amount.

Foods are average nice! Jer-jer chicken pot are super nice, bak kut teh also near to Malaysia taste! Price are reasonable at this area, recommended to try!

The boss was very nice and reminded us not to have our phones stolen. The food is also delicious and affordable, more substantial than many other Chinese restaurants. The portion is huge. I hope the boss will always be so kind and will review him often 👍☺️good service, nice food, top characteristics of staff.

Delicious food though is a bit pricy, one seabass, morning glory, rice and some tea sum up to 50 pounds for two.

Beef Flank curry is to die for! Literally the most amazing beef curry I’ve ever had. The manager was telling us that it’s one of the most popular dishes since the business started. Jer Jer chicken is so tender and so flavoured. Amazing service as well - definitely will be coming back

La primera vez que vinimos a esta tienda fue para un aperitivo rápido porque la comida se ve muy tentadora. Los fideos desenfrenados son buenos con los hinchables. Las bebidas que pedimos, que es té de leche HK y hielo de frijoles rojos, estaban a la altura de los estándares, al igual que cómo se obtiene en Hong Kong. La segunda vez que vinimos a esta tienda fue para comer su carne asada y fideos. Esta vez pedimos los fideos de Singapur y fideos Fujian y carne asada. Los fideos eran muy buenos fideos esp Fujian. Muy auténtico y delicioso. El pato asado es bueno. La carne es jugosa y tierna con la cantidad correcta de saborizante. El cerdo asado estaba un poco por debajo de la media. Tiene el olor a cerdo y la carne estaba un poco seca. Este lugar no es lujos, no nada, típico estilo café HK pero con un personal amable y un buen servicio. Intenta ir a horas no punta. La comida fue servida muy rápidamente así que, no hay necesidad de esperar mucho tiempo

Been here multiple times and have always had the best food ever, there may be a line on weekends outside but it goes by super fast. Super friendly staff inside and great value for money food. Best place to dine at chinatown in my opinion.

Not a great experience. Average food, drink exploded once can was opened all over me, staff didn’t really seem that bothered. Lots of other places that would be more customer focused. Table at the back where staff were hanging about so felt crowded and rushed.

Yuanyang milk tea is fragrant and smooth. Laksa's portion is large and has many ingredients. The stir-fried vegetables are full of flavor and the soy sauce chicken is generous and delicious. recommend

We came for some authentic Asian food. The food was good with special recommendations - beef hor fun, mango sago dessert and the pineapple ice. Prices can be slightly a bit higher than standard. The service was good.

Me encanta este lugar. Es un café chino apropiado - no vaya esperando un interior elegante o una hermosa decoración, pero sin duda puede ir esperando buena comida y una gran relación calidad-precio.

Food here was again on par. Ordered Singaporean stir fried vermicelli. They did use thinner rice vermicelli, but the frying style did not have yellow ginger powder. The hot spicy was added by addition of hot chilli paste. The Portuguese styled baked pork chop rice is better. My son likes it. No need to say, any BBQ styled duck and pork is not real Cantonese style. Good for table of 4 and not too pricey saves it. Milk tea and Yin Yan are also considered good in Britain.

Worth a try. Dishes tasted nice and quite authentic, given that they were cooked in the UK. The price was good comparing to those same restaurants around. The atmosphere was somehow a bit busy though it was not at the time I was there.

I am absolutely in love with their desserts! Especially the Mango & Grapefruit Sago (it’s truely amazing) and the one with Beancurd aswell. I come here ALL the time to get the same Sago. I have tasted dozens of Mango Sagos and everytime they are never as good as this one. Please TRY THIS ONE 🙏🙏. The braised aubergine and tofu dish was so so good! Came with sticky rice. Seating is a little tight inside, but there is standing room (and one chair) to wait to pick up your order to go. Service was quick & polite. Pricing was very fair for the generous portion served. And they have multiple veg/vegan selections which is great! Fyi - Late review (dined here on a visit, almost a year ago, wish I’d had time to come back and try more dishes!)

Chinese broccoli Gai Lan was fresh and is worth a star. Roasted duck and BBQ pork were dry and rough, and also with too much soy sauce. Wonton soup's wonton pork and shrimp meats were spoiled. They offered to replace it with another wonton soup but we instead settled with another dish - soy sauce stir-fried noodle. It turned out to be watery like pouring soy sauce over the noodle. This restaurant's name TPT is super misleading.

I love this place! Been going here for years, owner and staff both very tentative and efficient. And if you want real traditional delicious Chinese food this is the place. Not to mention it’s a lot cheaper than most restaurants in china town

The food were not really taste like hong kong style and it was quite poor to be honest. I refused to pay for the tips and asked the waitress to remove it. She keep asking questions and not willing to sort it for me. After that, she asked her boss to come and do the same thing. The boss said their waiters will not be happy about it and paying tips is like a must. I strongly feel like it is emotional blackmail and got threatened. This behaviour is very rude and disrespectful. I won’t recommend you to try this restaurant as they misuse the tips culture and disrespectful to customers. There are quite a lot of options in china town but NOT TPT.

A satisfying meal. I got the sweetcorn soup with crabmeat, pork slices with mushroom, butter & herb prawn. Everything was delicious. I expected the prawns to have those crispy egg floss but it was mostly covered by cereals, as you can see. The prawn was crispy & fresh so it still tasted great. Would definitely come again!

We popped in on a recent visit to London, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is great! It's a little on the small side but there was enough room for us to sit comfortably and enjoy our food. The toilets are downstairs and the ceilings are very low – if you're around 6' tall you'll have to stoop! Prices for the area were very reasonable too and will be happy to eat there again next time we're in the area.

The dishes are delicious, especially the specials on the wall and not on the menu. The atmosphere is just okay, but it’s packed on a Monday night so it must be popular for its food.

TPT = Street Hawker Stall This busy restaurant in Chinatown is a good weird fix when craving Malaysian/ Singaporean food. The black hokkien noodle was spot on. Morning glory with fermented bean was tasty. Not sure about the la-la soup - very weird flavoring in it, like it’s got Indian influences. Disappointed with the butter prawn.. it had cornflakes inside of egg floss 🙁!! The Tofu pudding was the highlight of the night. So smooth, unfortunately you have to pay the overly price for it!!

Lovely little unfussy cafe. Lovely food, good service and a warm welcome. Liked the hawkers menu, some more unusual dishes. Would recommend and return.

The space is a bit narrow, but the food is good. We ordered beef offal stew, sizzling chicken pot, and dry-fried green beans. They are all good and have an authentic Chinese taste.

This place used to be my go to spot for Roast Duck & Pork on Rice during my lunch break when I worked in Leicester Square in 2004 to 2006. The food was always consistent and absolutely delicious. Glad to see that this place is still open.

My sister and I had booked a tour, Sunday afternoon, we were just on time... half an hour was short... but we had time to eat the best duck I have ever eaten, with rice and some spectacular vegetables, asparagus. A small place but with a lot of charm, the best service, fast and extremely friendly. Important...they allowed us to pay with credit card. It's a shame we couldn't take photos, we didn't have time. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙂

It’s a no thrills place but the service is friendly and fast. The food is also amazing and pretty reasonably priced for London. Good sized portions also! One of my fav spots for food up West!

cozy place to eat; service is friendly, nice; the food we ordered are quite tasty, especially Beef Chow Fun (Fried Beef Ho Fun with beansprouts 乾炒牛河) really good(by the way, 乾炒牛河 is the dish to test if a Cantonese style restaurant is good or not). Other dishes we ordered are good too, including Won-Ton soup, fried vegetables, and crispy pork. Only if they could serve crispy pork with sauce on side would be perfect, instead they served with sauce pouring on it, which I don’t like it, but it is just personal preference. We even went back after dined in and ordered half roast duck and one more crispy pork yo take out for dinner.

The frozen lemon tea is delicious, but the three treasure rice scares me.

The best roast meats. I go here regularly for Cantonese style char siu or siu juk (roasted meats HK style). I think its the best one. Other dishes also good but I tend to stick to the simple, fast 1 plate meals not the more complicated dishes. Keep it simple and its great.

Excellent steamed sea bass, just add 15 minutes to your dining time. The shrimp dumpling soup was four dumplings in a small bowl and the only dish we wondered if it was worth the cost. Mixed roast meat rice brought back memories of Malaysia and a technically perfect preparation. The spicy green bean dish only improved with flavor while eating, ending with a bite so striking I wanted more. Bravo!

Several vegan options which were ok

Food was ok but the total cost with the service charge came to 25.20 (without service charge was 22.90) and when we gave 30 they only gave us £1.70 in change and got aggressive when confronted.

The food is nothing special, the duck is not recommended. Small portions at exorbitant prices… the interior design and toilets are a disaster

This is a no frills Hong Kong style cafe. If you want a cheap and quick meal in Chinatown, this is the place to go. Tables are cramped and you will most likely be seated right next to someone else, so no intimate conversations possible. I had roast meat rice - it was large plate and great value. The quality is not the best but it's more than acceptable for the price you pay.

Food was very disappointing. I came specially for the peking duck. It was very disappointing. the skin was so soggy and no flavor at all. Use to have the best Peking Duck I ever ate. Not anymore. All other dishes were blend as well.

Really wanted to like this place. but compared to even just Los Angeles quality this is mediocre. People love the baked Macau pork chops, it's a little strange to me and not exactly my taste. Everything else we ordered was also meh.

We needed a quick meal before heading to the Royal Opera House, and Chinatown is just nearby! We were looking for something cheap and after reading the reviews, we chose TPT. A big bowl of noodles for 10 quid, you really can't beat it. I had fish and pork belly in a clay pot for 17, and it was delicious. My sister had crunchy noodles with char sui. A meal for 4 people including beers came to 70 pounds. Very quick service and pleasant staff. The place is small and not glamorous or anything, but the food is good and the service fast.

First time in China town and to me it's like straight out of Jacky Chan movie. Go for Curry Laksa if you don't want take any chances, but all other things we tried are great too.
