Hakkasan Mayfair in City of London, Westminster

Having dined with the Tao group before at the Ritz in Mexico City, we were highly anticipating this experience. However, the service fell very short and felt very uninviting, there was no assistance with the menu, explanation of what items were coming to the table once food arrived. There were a lot of staff coming and going from our table, pouring water sloppy and splashing all over. We selected the plum tasting menu and luckily the food made up for the lack of friendliness. Some dishes were greater than others with the dumplings and dessert taking the lead on our dining experience. Overall, I’m not sure I’d be willing to come back to a tao establishment given the inconsistency in services and standard.

The location is very discreet but the atmosphere was amazing. The food was amazing and the portions were very generous. Definitely recommend!

Duck two ways and dim sum would definitely be the highlight of Hakkasan food-wise for me. I usually go for XO sauce for the second way of my duck and would recommend the same for anyone who hasn’t tried it yet. A selection of dishes to share and try a bit of everything is ideal as the portions are not small but not big either and each one is a unique blend of flavours that everyone should try. Cocktails, loud music, and high-end dining: the atmosphere is phenomenal and very upbeat. Great for friends night out, or a date.

One of Londons best restaurants. Very nice design, friendly and knowledgeable staff giving great recommendations. Intimate atmosphere with great music that sets a good vibe yet is not too loud enabling to have a conversation. Very tasty cocktails. All dishes that we ordered were phenomenal - shrimps in curry, wagyu dumplings, extraordinary rice and amazing pak Choi as well as an extraordinary duck salad. A place definitely worth returning to.

This Chinese restaurant is decorated in a Western style and was once a Michelin-starred restaurant. Are the rules a bit strange? If I order a set meal, do I have to order two portions? So we ordered the soup and ordered the soft-shell crab. The soft-shell crab was very crispy and fragrant. The ingredients were very similar to rice noodles, and the taste was very special. The pre-dinner cocktail was served first. The large ice cubes were sprinkled with gold foil, and the taste was mild. The first avocado salad was rich in flavor with many side dishes. The crab meat cake is garnished with caviar, and there is popcorn underneath which makes it very crispy and fragrant. There is a piece of dried pineapple on the beef ribs, which is sprinkled with gold foil. The beef has a little fishy smell, but the texture is very smooth and tender and overwhelms the fishy smell of the beef. The shrimp fried rice is large in portion and tastes amazing. The cabbage is shredded very finely, and the rice grains are stir-fried to bring out the fragrance. The fried rice is really good. The shiitake mushrooms in Babao Vegetarian Cuisine are very large and plump, but they are really fragrant. ...No need to explain the other dishes... This restaurant is the most expensive meal I have ever had in the UK, but it is also the most delicious and filling meal. The Chinese restaurants in the UK are really terrible. I really have never had a decent and delicious Chinese restaurant in the UK. These Chinese restaurants are very mixed! Not specialized!

The service wasn’t very good , no one really helped

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant on Sat night. i booked a post theatre dinner with a reservation at 11.15. They accept reservations up til 11.30 I had my son and daughter with me. We arrived at 11.10 and were told to hurry up and order as the kitchen was closing, so we put in an order and ordered a drink. All of the food, starters and main courses arrived ten minutes later, with all the dishes piled on top of each other on the tiny table. The food quickly went cold as it was impossible to eat it fast enough. It was a cold mess! We were astonished at what happened. The waitress then brought our second round of drinks and three minutes later a bouncer dressed in a black coat walked up and told us to hurry up and finish our drinks. At this point i was disgusted and asked for the bill which was £368. I called over one of the staff who looked more like management. He asked for my receipt and went over to the till and was speaking to the bouncer and waitresses. He returned with some strange looking pot of desert in a bag and said sorry about that. He did not return my receipt either. it was all utter rubbish and we got up and left without the time to drink our second drinks. Hakkasan should not advertise late bookings on opentable as they do not wish to honour them. The night was an expensive insult’. I shall not be returning.

Great food Definitely get some cocktails too! Fantastic service

I came here to celebrate the lunar new year. To my surprise there was a lion dance there which was really interesting to watch! The food was really delicious even though I ordered from the taste of hakkasan menu (which was reasonably priced! ) the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The venue was really nicely decorated however it is quite loud (after the lion dance as well).

The food tastes okay, quite average. I think the service is not very good, maybe because there are too many people, and it takes a long time to order and pay. The atmosphere is not good either, because there are too many people and the whole restaurant is very noisy. If you are here for a date, it is best not to choose this restaurant.

Had the taste of Hakkasan menu £39 per head with a starter, main and dessert and being a vegetarian there was ample choice. Food was delicious and service was excellent.

A must visit while in London. Quite possible one of the best meals I have had. This Cantonese hot spots attention to detail shows in the cocktails, 🍹 with a branded round ice cube to the perfectly arranged dumplings so visually appealing, you knew they were going to be tasty. Hakkasan’s staff was attentive & professional. The chef 🧑‍🍳 served a white rice so full of flavorful spices… throughout dinner we had a DJ playing the perfect mix of music. The decor was also a feast for the eyes… ❤️ and follow

Excellent service from door to table and the chefs and waiters/waitresses. They did really well and accommodated my group with all our needs including their set menus. My group enjoyed and I’m happy they had a good experience in London on their visit from outside London. Five stars! 🌟

The food was really nothing special. You could find exactly the same stuff for a fraction of the price in Chinatown and it would be much better. You’re only paying for the location and the snob factor which frankly I couldn’t care less about. In fact, it’s a little pathetic.

The Iberian pork and venison in particular were fantastic. Great food and service.

Did not like in the downstairs part if I’m honest. Took a while to get first drinks- but fine after they eventually came over. Food is excellent but they probably could have spaced out the dishes a bit more as got cold. Don’t get me wrong, this is a first class restaurant, but these are important details when parting with £200 per head.

Hakkasan Mayfair was an incredible dining experience and the perfect introduction to London's culinary scene during my first trip to the city. From the moment I walked in, I was completely captivated by the restaurant's sophisticated and vibrant atmosphere. The staff were truly exceptional - especially Edgar, who was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive from start to finish. Their menu recommendations were spot on, showcasing an impressive understanding of the cuisine and a genuine desire to ensure I had the best possible dining experience. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Every single dish was meticulously prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with incredible flavors. The culinary craftsmanship was evident in every bite. The atmosphere was another highlight - simultaneously cool, elegant, and energetic. It struck the perfect balance between fine dining sophistication and a fun, welcoming environment. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to London, and Hakkasan Mayfair will absolutely be my first dining destination. Surely will be coming back soon!

I visited the bar only (No food) and the cocktails are some of the best I’ve ever had! From the revisitation of Negroni and all the others, they were all top notch!

Expect your bill to be around £700 for four people. The food however was worth it.

Best part about this place is the service. We were served mainly by Aziz who was great, but the whole staff was super kind and helpful. We also enjoyed the variety of flavors! I loved dim sums, crispy duck salad and stir fried beef! P.S. it was great that we had no issues visiting this place with newborn in pram.

Nice food, but very crowded and tables are way too close to each other, feels like you are sitting together and sharing the conversation.

You really can't go wrong here other than when you end up getting seated next to an over-excited Instagram posting group, that gets a bit annoying. Not the restaurant's fault I guess, but I suppose they could introduce a no phones policy? Top class food and service which should be enjoyed, not photographed and posted for self glorification, no?

Great food and Music I try to attend every time I go to London

Took a friend here to celebrate their birthday. The food was fine, but not amazing. I think for the price, I would expect more creativity, given the brand etc. I had steamed sea bass which was nice. My friends ordered beef and pork dishes which they enjoyed. Dessert was very good! Our waiter was really attentive. It was a bit loud at times so difficult to hear each speak but overall we had a nice time. There are so many places in London with amazing food at half the price so for that reason, I wouldn’t rush back.

the duck salad starter and beef main were both unreal and the service was great. 10/10 experience.

Nice location. Very expensive food...I only recommend the dim sum-...the other dishes are either too expensive or a little less expensive but almost all fried (without this being indicated on the menu)...overall...not worth the price expense...which was 60 pounds per person (total 120 for 4 dishes: a vegan dim sum selection and 3 small eats...which are still plentiful (not very small) and can be shared, without having taken wine and without dessert). If you want to see a nice place in London come here... if you want to eat well go elsewhere ;)

We had a fantastic server and I’m sorry I can’t remember his name! Food was superb, particularly the Dim Sum. Despite the hefty price, I’d definitely go again, the food is that good!

The food is very late. The timing is not accurate. Be careful. 10:15. We handed over the table. It is now 11:00 and you are paying. The bill was forged. An employee says that she ordered a bottle of champagne and we are Muslims and we only ordered! When we proved that with pictures, she changed the bill but did not admit that it was false.

Nice ambience, great meal presentation, friendly staff and most importantly, great meal sizes and overall quality

First and foremost, the overall impression is that the price can not defend the food and service. We ordered quite «normal» food based on common raw materials (satay chicken, slices of meat, tofu and noodles) and ended up paying £150 for food only. Even though the dishes, except for the tofu, tasted very well, I miss a sense of creativity and finess on the dishes. In particular when you take into account the reputation they have and the price they demand. We also ordered a carafe of wine and a drink each (two in total), adding up to £80. The bland taste of the drinks made them a disappointment. In addition, we asked for the drinks to be served as starters, but we got them in the middle of the meal. Drinks should be an easy fix compared to food, so this feels very strange. Yes, the waiters cared about the visitors by being kind and gently giving advice, but when they do not follow our request, and also answers our questions wrongly, the service does not add any value to our visit.

"Exceptional Dining Experience: A Must-Try" The dining experience at this restaurant was absolutely fantastic. The ambiance sets the perfect mood, complemented by exceptionally attentive staff. The highlight, however, was undoubtedly the food. Offering some of the best Chinese cuisine I've ever tasted, every dish was a delight. I highly recommend trying their menu; it’s a must for any food lover!

We had an issue with our reservation & we waited for one hour to fix it & there was one excellent employee “Maria” who helped us through it & managed to find a high table then the service was very very late where we took 1/2 hour to order the food & other 2 hours to receive it all. It was one of our worst experiences in the restaurant around the world except the marvelous “Maria” who tried her best to make it good experience however the other employee wasn’t helpful at all & the service was very late.

I have eaten In Hassakan several times and usually enjoy it . New Year’s Eve was a terrible experience. The set menu was not crowd pleasing. Welcome cocktail was nit good either and took 30 mins to arrive . Food then came very quickly and altogether leaving no space on the table its was all too much and a turnoff . Many tables had this experience. We were also told we need to vacate the table by 11.30 for another reservation which of course could not happen as the awful desert had not arrived by then . 1 out of 5 of us ate the desert as it was very disappointing .

As always, great food and ambience. The DJ for NYE played some fantastic tunes. The guests were varied from young families, older couples and glamorous youngsters. Our waiter in particular was very helpful and polite and helped us get the à la carte order spot on, particularly for my wife who is vegetarian.

Unfortunately Hakkasan is still coming up as a Michelin starred restaurant but it’s not, they lost their star. We booked it because we wanted an evening of fine dining because it was a very special meal for us but instead it seems to have turned into a family restaurant with lots of noise and hubbub. we had a couple of overpriced cocktails but declined to eat

Great experience at Hakkasan for dinner. No halal options but staff are very aware of any dishes with alcohol in them. Seafood dim sum was the highlight, highly recommend. Steamed Chilean sea bass was good but lacked a bit of flavour; melted in your mouth and had great texture. Jivara bomb for dessert was really good actually. Overall, I'd recommend Hakkasan for an occasion if you enjoy fine dining here and there. Like most high end restaurants, you’re definitely overpaying for the food but the atmosphere is really nice. Service is good, nothing really exceptional. I did not feel like we were “looked after” but that’s fine. We were given some truffles to take home, which was a nice touch though!

Amazing food choice, quality, presentation and taste! Atmosphere was great but the music was intrusive. Service was good, but not to the standard expected. Would certainly revisit!

The Peking duck with beluga caviar wasn’t our favorite

Outstanding food and drink undermined by poor service (not including the hostess who greeted us; she was lovely and welcoming). We had 3 different waiters and orders were forgotten and/or slow. And the coat check person clearly didn’t want to be there as she slung our coats straight over the counter and onto the floor.

A great ambience, excellent service with the waiters being very helpful, and high quality food. Overall an enjoyable and superb experience. A favourite place in London for eating out.

Completely over priced nonsense. Signature dishes served with wilted salad that wouldn't have looked out of place in a grotty Harvester. Service that could barely raise a smile, be bothered to work out which of the cocktails we were being served contained alcohol and which didn't (leaving us to have to work it out) or remember to place an order for all the dishes we ordered. It felt like a very tired and extremely overpriced experience trading on a brand name whilst delivering an experience that doesn't even come close to delivering on food quality or service from a restaurant that is 25% of the cost. You can tell that they don't care because I sent them detailed feedback when they requested it after our booking but nobody bothered to respond. Avoid this place. -------------------------- UPDATE - they still haven't replied to the detailed feedback they asked for via their booking system. --------------------------- UPDATE - they now replied via email with the same templated response they post here: 'We would like to sincerely apologise that you had a disappointing experience whilst dining with us at Hakkasan Mayfair. It is only with our guest feedback that we are able to improve time and time again. I can guarantee that I will pass this on to the relevant management teams for review to make all the relevant improvements. Once again, I would like to highlight how much we value our guest feedback and we hope that you visit us in the future so that we have a chance to redeem ourselves.' Not a single concern we mentioned was addressed.

A large restaurant arranged on the ground and basement serving modern Chinese food with good service.

Excellent food however the service should have been better considering the price. For example we waited quite a while for drinks each time we ordered and it took some effort to get the waiters attention if we had any questions. Overall service felt commercial/clinical rather than personal. I personally wouldn't return for dining in.

The service was initially very slow indeed. Waited over 20 mins for drinks to be offered. After having a quiet word, things sped up. The food was, as always amazing. Love Hakkasan, but the service sometimes lacks the quality of the food that’s served.

Was allocated a great table. The food was amazing with regular ask if we needing anything. A lovely ambience evening.

We was very disappointed firstly the tables are to close together the people sitting next to you are on your lap it’s ridiculous. The food is so overpriced it’s laughable £38 for chow Sui pork we got 5 tiny pieces of pork the wouldn’t feed a cat and had absolutely no taste to it. The food was average at best not much taste to any of it really disappointed really bland tasteless food the place itself held a good bubbly atmosphere if you want to get ripped off go there they are robbing you for your money BE WARNED!

I enjoyed the vegan dim sum—it was delicious! However, the chicken senapi with steamed rice was not tasty😖. The reception staff were very welcoming, but overall table service was just okay/dry—considering the 11% service charge, I expected better. Was it worth the money? Unfortunately, no.

Fantastic food and table service. Shame that the front of house ladies were so rude about us having children and pushchairs after the booking team had left a voicemail saying it was ok, just no high chairs. Also a shame that the wooden structures were so filthy which was really highlighted when the lights shone on it

We've been several times and normally are very happy, but on this occasion the service was poor and food was barely warm when delivered to table. Not up to expectations.

We dined at the restaurant for dinner. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was exceptionally delightful. However, one area that could benefit from enhancement is the dress code, as I believe this establishment should implement a dress code policy.

Experience was outstanding. We were also given a desert for my Wife's Birthday with her name on it. The only thing I did not like is they made me wait 30 minutes which I felt was really frustrating since I made the booking weeks in advance.

In the early 2000s, I dined at your Hanway Place location several times weekly for business lunches. As a top nutritionist now fortunate enough to eat at exquisite restaurants worldwide, I wanted to express my deep disappointment with my recent experience at Hakkasan Mayfair. During my last visit, which included three esteemed guests—well-known business owners who regularly dine in fine establishments—we encountered a series of concerning issues that I feel compelled to bring to your attention. First and foremost, we were made to wait 45 minutes for our table, which, while crowded, was utterly unacceptable. When we approached the staff to express our concern, we were met with rudeness instead of the customer service we expected. Unfortunately, things escalated further when we went to find our table ourselves (any waiting area was manic)and requested it be cleared for our use, only to be told we would not be served. The disrespect we experienced was shocking—especially from a restaurant of your calibre. Throughout the evening, there were additional mishaps, including incorrect drink orders being served three times, with the staff asserting it was our fault. It was hard to believe such a lapse in service could occur. While we appreciated the effort put into the food, the quality was notably mediocre compared to what I remembered from my previous visits. Most notably, the overwhelmingly sweet dessert did not align with our anticipated refined dining experience. Sadly, I will not review your restaurant on my social media despite posting complimentary restaurant reviews to my many foodie followers most weeks.

We came here for dinner for the first time. The service was exceptional, very attentive polite staff. The food was very good and the cocktails were delicious. I enjoyed all the dishes we ordered, the famous peking duck was also done well and served nicely all ready to eat. It was very busy even for a Sunday night and I liked the ambience. I didn’t give 5 stars because it’s quite pricey and the restroom is a bit small for the number of tables they had. We were also asked to leave our table and sit at the bar after about 2.5 hours because apparently they needed the table but we stayed at the bar for another 2 hours having drinks and the whole time we didn’t see anyone sat at our table and there were actually a few other empty tables, so don’t understand the rush of getting us out, not great

When ordering make sure to inform them to serve starters before main dish or otherwise they might serve the main dish even before the soup or salad or the appetizers

Small portions of food . I really enjoyed the food I got but it’s not the place or food I enjoyed it was the company of my partner. They give you a set menu if you have a voucher as a gift with tiny portions of food , no voucher big plates of food ?

The place is now relying on its old reputation it taste of food for the price is not good enough! We had the premium most expensive menu and finished not satisfied!

A superb place in every sense. The perfect mixture of delicious food, a great choice of drinks and a fabulous atmosphere will spice your stay and enjoyment just enough that you won't be able to resist coming back again.
