I absolutely adore ROKA. The black cod is phenomenal 👌🏻

-chutoro was not chutoro - salmon tataki was dry - staff forgot dishes - skewer meat was questionable 1 star due to the chutoro not being actual chutoro.

The food at Roka Aldwych was excellent. We opted for the seasonal tasting menu, which was extensive and provided a generous amount of food. One standout dish was the seabream fillet with ryotei miso and red onion, which was perfectly balanced and packed with flavour. Service was a mixed bag - while drinks and table clearance were slow, one of our party had a food allergy, and the staff member who took our order was incredibly diligent, demonstrating great menu knowledge to ensure everything was safe. The biggest issue, however, was the noise; while I love a lively atmosphere, the combination of loud music and poor acoustics made conversation difficult. It’s a beautiful, open space, but perhaps some sound adjustments would help balance the energy with comfort. A great spot for those looking for a vibrant setting, but not ideal for a relaxed dinner with conversation.

Came here for a birthday meal and it was amazing. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was good, and the service was fantastic. They had lots of gluten free options, and the staff really looked after me with allergies and were very knowledgeable about cross contamination. Every item that we ordered they would talk us through what was safe for me and what wasn’t. Would definitely recommend!

The restaurant has a pretentious atmosphere that does not support the actual experience. Yes, you can leave your coat at the front, there are many servers, place looks modern. But! The noise of loud music from the lounge is quite loud in the restaurant area. The acoustics of the restaurant is horrible and you would need to shout and strain your hearing to have a conversation (we were 6 and it was pretty impossible). Waitress did not confirm order and actually did not record it correctly. So we had some rather disappointed people at the table. And the food… it is ok. But not more. We think similar style restaurants with less pretence actually have better food. Sashimi, meats, sushi were all just ok. So I don’t understand why the hype?

Ella se había ido. Luego el segundo plato, lo mismo. De repente, los cursos tres, cuatro y cinco se llevaron a nuestra mesa con pocos segundos de diferencia. ¿Cómo se supone que voy a disfrutar de un menú degustación con 4 platos diferentes en mi mesa a la vez. El personal simplemente no hablaba lo suficientemente alto como para ir por encima de la parte superior de la música bastante alta y estaban constantemente corriendo alrededor, que no es algo que esperaba aquí. El problema principal que experimenté y algo que no creo que los clientes deban escuchar en el comedor fue que un miembro del personal de camareros tuvo una experiencia pobre con un cliente de pago que todavía estaba sentado en su mesa comiendo. A pretty bad experience. This place is heavily overrated because of its name. Yes, it looks nice, but it’s not an authentic Japanese spot serving great sushi. I was there to film some content for work, and a waiter treated me like I was crazy—constantly reminding me not to include him in the videos, as if I were a child. One particular staff member, a tall guy with light eyes and a grey jacket (probably the only tall person in the room), even **followed me into the bathroom** after I got up to wash my hands. He watched me suspiciously, as if I were playing some kind of joke, when in reality, I was just doing my job. A terrible experience—I’d recommend other places instead. Don’t waste your time here.

I felt quite disappointed by the experience, certainly not what I expected for the price you pay and a valentines dinner, you can find equal or better Japanese food at half the price in London, staff was nice, but the music was too loud, we where sitting at a table next to the main entrance and a lot of times there where clients waiting at the door for the wardrobe and and all the cold air from outside was getting in, we wished we haven't left our coats in the wardrobe. Food wise the cod and crab gyoza where a highlite, and the rest was quite average and overpriced... £10.20 for just 2 salmon nigiri you guys are taking the piss, Also they know the food is supposed to be shared but they serve uneven portions of everything.. instead of 6 maki you get 5... Very sneaky, desert was also very average and uninteresting, I ordered the hokkaido ichigo cheesecake, and they served me a deconstructed mess, a flavourless sponge cake with a blob of cheese ice cream, a diced half strawberry and some crushed biscuits. Would not come back

The staff is missing in action. Even when you manage to get in contact they talk to you as if they don’t want to be there. The food is good but overpriced for the quality. I believe sticks and sushi is a better place to go.

The Brunch, as always was delicious ,the service, as always , was on point .. but what raised the bar this time was the fact that we arrived late and accepted that we'd have to cut short our 2hour Brunch slot ,so ,not only were we surprised but we were sincerely grateful to the Head of Guest Services who greeted us at Front Reception and rearranged our seating arrangement so we could enjoy the full 2hour experience . A thousand thankyou's sir for being considerate!

Amazing Experience at Roka We didn’t have a reservation but decided to walk in, unsure how many people would actually join us. Despite being fully booked, the team at Roka was incredibly accommodating and even brought in extra chairs as more people arrived. We never felt rushed, even though they mentioned they would need the table back at a certain time. Later, they came over and told us they had made alternative arrangements, so we could enjoy our meal without any pressure—such a thoughtful touch! The food was absolutely outstanding, and the service was top-notch. A special shout-out to Henry, the manager, who was incredibly attentive, and the bartender John, who made our drinks just perfect. We’ll definitely be coming back again!

It's been a while since I've been to one of their restaurants, and this location feels a bit more like a high-end bar or club, similar to some of the restaurants in Shard. Decided to go for the tasting menu, and it did not disappoint everything was delicious, fresh,substantial, and beautifully presented with fine attention to detail. My only criticism was that when food was brought to my table, I did not receive a proper description of the dishes, as the servers either spoke to fast, did not explain properly or/and the music was a little too loud.

ROKA was an easy choice, recommended by a well-travelled friend with a taste for great cuisine and experiences. From the exquisite starters to the perfectly presented pork ribs and sirloin steak mains, every bite delivered on quality and flavour and then came the perfect dessert platter. The unlimited starters concept was a highlight—be sure to save room for your mains! The attentive service from Davide and Linh was exceptional, keeping the experience seamless without any rush. The ambience stood out too: elegant décor, and it was refreshing to see that none of the guests, including the younger ones, seemed glued to their phones—something rarely seen these days. Parking on nearby streets (like Chancery Lane) was hassle-free on a Sunday. At £163 for two, including drinks (one person on a drinks package) and service, it’s a fantastic treat. We'll definitely return, possibly with the whole family for a birthday celebration. Highly recommend.

Specifically booked this for NYE, Where advertised if booked after 9pm £140 per person you have access to the roof top fireworks and champagne at midnight, this is the only reason we chose here, when we got there we was told it was sold out?!! This should have been clearer on the website. Absolutely ruined the whole entire night. Appalling level of service.

Great sushi in a pleasant setting, making it a solid option in the area. While it’s not authentic Japanese cuisine and the restaurant could use a bit more personality, the atmosphere is still lovely, and the food is consistently good. The wagyu gunkan is a standout and my personal favourite alongside the black cod and sesame spinach.

Me sentí apresurado a despejar la mesa para la siguiente mesa. El camarero se acercó a nuestra mesa 15 segundos después de sentarse preguntando si estábamos listos para ordenar. Ni un hola, feliz año nuevo, ni siquiera pidiendo agua o bebidas. Nos apresuró. En general la comida era buena, pero la experiencia en general dejó un mal sabor de boca en mí y mis familias.

We started with beautifully presented Sushi and Sashimai followed by a wonderful selection from the Robata. Our first waiter came across a little bit uninterested. We booked a birthday brunch and he didn’t explain any of the brunch, the normal or premium options. We waited quite a while for food for our brunch and then were told we were on the last sitting and that the kitchen closed at four. Before we received the food, we were told if we wanted extra we could order more. This was a little confusing as we hadn’t got the original food yet? But they would rather you have more food than not enough so encourage you to order more. The food is amazing. It’s really good value and I would definitely recommend it. Julian and Alleta were incredible and really kept it fun and professional. They answered all of our questions and sorted out the GF menu which was brilliant. The only thing that let us down was the slight rush to order more food and the original waiter.

Quite expensive for some of the dishes. Highly recommend the lamb.

Went to Roka for the first time yesterday for a friend's 60th birthday. 7 of us went, and we did the £55 deal. Plus, the £20 unlimited wine or prosecco. We booked a few months ago but due to popular demand we didn't get into the main restaurant we were seated in the bar area. Apparently, the restaurant area fills up very quickly. We arrived a little early and had to wait quite a while as the people on our table were running late. Had a glass of fizz whilst waiting. Once seated, the waiter was great. I told him about my nut allergy and being vegetarian. He showed me a separate menu, and I chose the baked eggplant as my main. The waiter then filled our glasses with either prosecco, rose, white, or red wine, whichever we wanted. The startes came, and they were all amazing. The waiter brought me my own starters that had had no cross contamination. The waiter made sure I had lots of different starters. Everyone else had the mixed sharing starters. Everyone, including me, loved the starters selection very fresh and lots of different flavours. All the time, the waiter was topping up our drinks and checking if we needed more food. Then the mains came once again. I was given mine separately. I had the eggplant, which came with asparagus time, tender stem broccoli, and grilled mushrooms. The others on the table had salmon, chicken, or ribs with different salads and potatoes. The food was amazing and there was lots of it. Then the dessert came once again. Mine was separate. Everyone else shared a huge platter, including mango Sorbet, chocolate chunks, chocolate cake, mango, pineapple, melon, strawberries, raspberries, lychee and little moons. All served on a bed of crushed ice. Dessert was amazing, so fresh, and something that suited everyone. I have to say this was some of the best food I had ever eaten. The £20 drinks package, I definitely got well over £20 of drink in the 2 and a half hours you get at the table. Service was amazing. The table we had in the bar area was lovely quiet and felt like we had our own little area. As a person with a severe nut allergy and being vegetarian, they catered so well for me, and I felt safe and well looked after. I would like to try the main restaurant next time as it has funky mood lighting and great decor, but saying that our table didn't lesson our experience. It was still amazing. The people there were a mixture of young and older. Lots of people looked liked models and very trendy. I would recommended this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food.

Sashimi was delicious, highly recommend the dumplings and the ribs. The yellowtail salad, baby chicken and tempura was disappointing.

Can't even call it Japanese, the brunch food was embarrassing...its like some cheap Japanese restaurant quality charging expensive price....the sashimi was thin and badly cut like an after eight chocolate, and the rolls looked like the size of a rolo chocolate. Ignoring the price, I honestly would enjoy my food more in Itsu. DONT DO THE BRUNCH!!!

Brunch at ROKA was amazing. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. The starters filled us up before we had our mains which shocked me but was definitely an enjoyable experience all together with a great vegan menu too.

Amazing pre theatre meal. Such delicious dishes. We were blown away . Set meal cost 38 pounds each and 5 pounds extra if you wanted a dessert. The sharing starters were incredible … tempura, sashimi, gyoza, sushi and then our main courses of ribs and salmon teriyaki. We were in good heaven! And then deserts… wow! the miso Creme caramel was incredible! The restaurant seemed a little short staffed.but staff were friendly anc helpful. It is a loud buzzy restaurant but we loved it! Thanks for an amazing meal!

Very value for money brunch, unlimited starters is great and the main portions are large which is good however I was feeling already full from the starters and the manager was very kind and let us take it home. We were originally going for the Nobu one however I highly recommend this.

Having been to many, many Roka brunches over the years, I have realised that Aldwych Is the least pleasant experience. The food is below par, as is the service. On my most recent visit, I was unfortunately sat next to an extraordinarily unreasonably behaved child. Obviously, I understand that this cannot sometimes be helped. But the experience was less than enjoyable. No apologies Or attempt to make my brunch more enjoyable were made. I have come to the conclusion, That only Canary wharf Roka brunch is enjoyable and value for money. The atmosphere food and service is always much better than Aldwych. Will not return to the Aldwych branch in the future

It’s always a pleasure to dine at Roka Aldwych. This occasion was exceptional special as my dear friend just got engaged. The food, atmosphere and staff were brilliant. The only reason why I marked down the food is because the portion size for the sushi rolls we ordered was very small and not the same quality as usual. That was disappointing. Everything else was great.

We recently attended ROKA brunch and having done it numerous times before we were extremely disappointed with our latest experience. The brunch used to be so amazing but the service during our latest visit was awful. We opted for the bottomless option and waited 20 mins for an arrival drink and had to chase our waiter down for a top up on our wine. Our waiter appeared to be tending to larger groups as opposed the smaller bookings which only added to the frustration. Whilst the food remained great, the value of the bottomless brunch option is overshadowed by poor service and having spent approx £250 on brunch it was a waste of money with other establishments offering better food and service.

Food is fine, overpriced for the flavour and portion size tbh. If you want a good option, get the set lunch menu. We had: Beef skewers- delicious, chicken yakitori - nice but too salty, Scallop skewers - need more shiso/dressing, squid karaage - yummy dressing but a bit wet and portion again tiny with barely present/not really crispy batter. Miso soup, rice, softshell crab maki all nice and reasonable tbf. Really rated the highball cocktail. Restaurant was suuuuper loud even at the edge hence poor atmosphere

DIVINE food ! The crispiest of crispy Prawn Tempura, the crunchiest of crunchy crab, the dropping-off- the bone ribs... sigh... A matcha / chocolate / pear dessert like magic on the palate. Don't pretend to "know" Sake v well but we were all perfectly happy with the standard offering. Only 3* for atmosphere because it was a bit smoky with a fishy smell when we first walked in - could do with better ventilation. But overall, really, really, REALLY good. :-)

The food and service was just OK, nothing special. However we were allocated the worst possible table in the restaurant. Changing a table seemed too much of a trouble in a half empty restaurant and still we got the second worst table, right next to a noisy group of 12 and next to the waiters service area, having them passing by us every other minute and the manager standing right behind me talking to a waiter with his serving tray inches from my face. I used to like Roka, but we will now spend money elsewhere. Upon exiting the restaurant we complained and we were faced with indifference.

Service was very slow. Waited a pretty long time for the starters. Beef fillet disappointingly underseasoned. Black cod was good. The worst thing were the desserts. Tried the seasonal raspberry dessert and the chocolate & green tea pudding - both so horrible they ruined a perfectly average meal. The chocolate pudding was super dry - the flavour combination was really weird - chocolate, matcha & pear sorbet! Won’t be coming here again. Too expensive for what it is.

THE BRUNCH IS A MUST Saturday and Sunday First of all get there when you are hungry- it is bottomless (you get unlimited selection of starters and choose one main depending on the brunch menu you pay for). This is set for a period of time which brings me to my second point- get there on time because your clock starts to tick from time of booking. The late you are the less time you will have to reorder your unlimited starters. When your time for unlimited starters is up they will let you know that it's the last plates. Overall the starters were great, love the chicken nuggets and dumplings 😋. Went for the £54 menu which meant 1 main- I went with Salmon but I must say I did not enjoy it. I personally it not find it well seasoned blunt. Paid an extra £20 for bottomless wine/prosecco so come thirsty. In addition, received glass of bellini on arrival. Desert was well presented platter. I was too full by then but lovely selection. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND FOR GIRLS BRUNCH.

The dishes are very special And the service is great Many meats are halal.

Overall, not a good value for money experience. Service was the most unusual I've experienced with at times overly attentive service but also some really long waits. It's really rude to clear plates while people are still eating and while it seemed like this might to be accommodate more plates this was not in fact the case and we still waited ages for the next plates. Some of a food was very nice but other bits were quite average. Restaursnt is extremely loud and could barely hear the person i was dining with. Overall, I couldn't recommend to a friend and would not return, especially with the automatically added 14.5% service charge which seems very high - I was shocked to be asked if I wanted to add anything on top of that and was seriously considering asking it to be removed anyway, given the poor service.

Had an amazing evening at ROKA today (Fri-YAY) John Adrian who made our drinks and kept the company haha Loved vibes, music and cleanness of the place + professionalism of the staff. Will definitely be back!
