Shera Indian Fast Food Takeaway in Newcastle upon Tyne

Worst meal we have had, asked for well done naan bread but got it very crispy, just like a packet of crisps, chicken very very tough also chips were still very hard, I can honestly say what a waste if money and would never use them again 😕

Cannot fault them great food and service highly recommend 👍🏼

Open but never seem to answer the phone

I ordered a shera special kebab, with all the meats. £9.95 What I got when I got home, was a kebab with kebab meat. Nothing else When I rang up to tell them, I was told its the new menu. If you are going to lie, make it a good one.

I just called up wanting to order after a disrespectful, rude and arrogant worker constantly saying inappropriate comments to me. I was disgusted! All I wanted to do was order a takeaway and he didn’t let me speak just a shame really 😢

First time ordering from here, delivery was quick, food came nice and hot. There was something missing from the order but a quick phone call and that it was sorted and that was also delivered quick too. Friendly polite staff, Food was very nice. I'll Definitely be ordering from here again.

Will NEVER order again! Waited nearly 2 hours for our food, was cold, driver went to wrong house and was very rude and arrogant when he did eventually turn up!! Really bad customer service

We have recently moved to Wallsend and we absolutely love this restaurant. The food is fantastic, lovely and tasty and good size portions. Favourite takeaway

Waited an hour and a half for our food on deliveroo and it never showed up. They said it had been delivered but it wasn’t. Didn’t offer anything for the bad service.

Bit quite for weeks day food is ok service not up to standard for the price u pay .

The food is wonderful except that you have to check every thing is there. Missing a starter and an entire biryani sauce.

Rang last night with an order for the family for collection and was told it would be half an hour. Arrived at the restaurant to pick up and made payment. The waiter walked away and so eventually I asked where my food was before being told that the chef was out doing deliveries so hadnt even started cooking our order yet. Was told the chef would instead cook it and deliver it to us after he returned to the restaurant within 30 MORE minutes. A wasted trip. It didn't arrive for over another hour (i had called to cancel but was told it was on its way) and when it did finally arrive the driver laughed at our obvious disappointment with the service. He did promise £10 discount from our next order. However tonight upon placing my order that changed to 10%, he continued to haggle and barter rather than honouring our agreement and basically tried to get as much money from me as possible before I cancelled my order. £2 discount! No thanks. My parents and I were regular customers under the previous ownership for 30+ years so I am highly disappointed that I will not be going back.

The Food is excellent but portions are underwhelming and the service from the two young lads was good when we raised an issue we were given a fair discount and we left them with praises would recommend this hidden gem!

Food had no flavour. Back ground music very load and distorted. Staff not well dressed (looked quite dirty). And to top off the experience lost count of how many flys were flying around and dead , not only on the restaurant floor but the toilets too. Very poor for what used to be a very good Indians.

First of all waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food! When it arrived the bag, my pop and my chips were saturated in BRIGHT GREEN mint sauce which has now stained my door mat!! And was all over our hands! We went outside to the driver and handed it back to him and kept the pizza instead as I was eating the pizza I turned it around to see this.. it was cremated!!!! I ended up throwing my dinner away what a waste of money!!!

One of the best experiences I've had the pleasure of experiencing in the North East. I've been looking for a good Indian place for a while now, to no avail. I came across this place on Just-Eat and thought I'd try going in for a pleasant dining experience rather than a takeout. The food was amazing, the closest thing to a true Indian Cuisine experience I've ever had. The customer service was superb, with the waiter taking a keen interest in making my experience as pleasant as possible. All in all, one of the best experiences I've had in the North East when it comes to Indian cuisine, would definitely recommend.

After recovering from a bout of flu we both thought our taste buds needed stimulating. Our Google search came up with The Shera in Wallsend(Formerly The Light of India) We went early evening and were escorted to our table by a very pleasant man. The restaurant was bright, spacious and spotless(No flocked wallpaper) All the food was hot and delicious and we nearly managed to eat everything apart from some rice. Mr Ahmed offered to take our picture together...a nice touch as you nearly always have to ask. If you like Indian Food this is a must visit when in North Tyneside. You will be hard pressed to find a restaurant serving such high quality food at these prices. Needless to say we will be returning to the Shera in the very near future.

Came for the first time with friends last night. The food was really nice with prompt service and friendly staff. We will be coming back.

only had takeaway from here but quality and service very good . every meal we have tried has been tasty and large portions too. shame they stopped doi ng half portions but it proved to be a bit of a headache for the chef especially when busy but would recommed you try this place as is very reasonable. i will try a sit in meal and let you know how it goes but staff always seem friendly when i collect my order.

We went on a Saturday evening after a few drinks down tynemouth and food was alright but the service was atrocious as for the owner spoke to 1 member of our party very Rudely will not be returning here again

I previously rated this restaurant 5 but this is the second Sunday banquet meal I have been disappointed with. So what's changed? They started over blending the sauce so it's like soup and each curry is not distinctive enough in flavour. when i compared two curries it was hard to taste a difference between them. I hope they go back to the quality and effort they had when first opened. Sadly will now try another restaurant as a result and check back for one last try in a month or two.

Appears to be more popular for take away than sit in, however on couple of occasions we have sat in the restaurant we have felt well & truly spoilt by the staff, very attentive. The food is home cooked, so expect a little wait, but you will certainly not be disappointed, Would definitely recommend

Warm sweet and cute restaurant. Food is very much like home cooked meals and ideal for those that miss mums curry or authentic home curry. Lacked seasoning in various items such as salt. Service was not brilliant as at times curry bowls were being carried over my head and I had to be cautious incase it tipped over me. Also the tone and language does not come as polite or friendly by the staff members. This place is an ideal takeaway than a restaurant.

We usually get takeaways from here and they are always fantastic - the food is amazing! Went into the actual restaurant for a meal and had a fantastic experience; wonderful food, lovely environment and friendly staff.

Fantastic my wife i and our 4 daughters 2 son in laws and granddaughter went to this restaurant tonight them living away from this area this is the first time we have all been together for mams birthday the service was excellent the meal excellent the price £103 for 9 of us well work out the maths starter main course and drinks please try this establishment every taste is different but this restaurant trys 100% to please

Tried this place with a few friends and we couldn't get enough of this delicious food. Service was friendly and the presentation of the food was amazing. This will now become our regular. Would highly recommend anyone to try it. Give it a chance if you haven't been and I promise you won't be disappointed.

Reading the good reviews decided to sit in instead of getting a takeaway. The restaurant has recently been modernised and is very clean and minimalist. Ambiance could be better as quite bright. Service was very good and they amended each of the dishes to our liking, ie more sauce, amending the heat from hot to medium. Excellent value for money for really tasty meal

Our first visit here. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff were welcoming and the restaurant was splendid. We were there for a family gathering we all had something different no complaints and a good time was had by all. We will certainly be going again.

My wife and I called into Shera on Monday night. The meal and service was absolutely fantastic. We thoroughly recommend this restaurant to all lovers of Indian food. We will definatley be visiting again.

Visited Sera last night with my wife as I've heard good things about it. We weren't disappointed! The interior is done out very tastefully and modern.The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was as good as I've had anywhere else, if not better. Nicely presented as well. Two starters, two main meals, a bottle of wine & two pints of lager for £40!!!

Lovely Indian takeaway. Whenever I get an Indians delivered, it's from Shera's. Everything is cooked to quality and not overly priced.I personally like my curries as hot as possible, so phoning up and asking for the Phal to be made hotter - they do a good job and happily make this happen.The only red-meat curry is Lamb, which is a little bit disappointing if you like beef like me. Card payment over the phone so you don't need to pay cash on delivery or use a 3rd party takeaway company.

Took my wife to this lovely little restaurant in Wallsend tonight. Nicely decorated and we'll presented tables, seated quickly by the very pleasant waiter. What can I say, the food came in good time, well spaced between courses and was top notch! Both my wife and I left feeling very happy to have found this little jem of a restaurant! Will be back!

Visited Shera last Monday for an anniversary meal with the mister. Although the restaurant was empty to diners, we figured that it was because it was a week night, however, the phone was quite busy with take out orders. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, airy and bright. We had a good peruse over the menu which is extensive and decided what we wanted, my fella order a chicken tikka masala, and I ordered the chicken chilli tikka masala, we also ordered poppa domes which came with the usual dips (we only liked the mango chutney and cucumber and mint dip, both of which were delicious). We also ordered chips, pilau rice and a plain and cheese naan bread. The fella had nothing but praise for his food, mine however was a bit spicier than I'd have liked, when asked what if it was ok, I explained it was quite hot. They were on,y too happy to make it milder for me which they did. We also had wine and diet coke during our meal, the house white which I was given was lovely, unfortunately I didn't get the name of it. The whole bill came to just under £36 and we left £40 as the service was so good.Only complaint was the waiter left in the midst of taking our order to answer the phone order that had come through, other than that, we loved it. loved it so much, that only this evening we ordered a take out from the same place. Well worth a visit

Absolute superb food , well presented. The Service was first class . Living back in Wallsend & It's lovely too have a cosy restaurant in my local town. Friendly atmosphere. Never tasted Onion Bahjis like that for a long long time. Spot on. Oh the garlic chips ;-)))) I will return with the mother in tow. Well done guys .

It was our first experience of the restaurant. They have a very friendly service, brilliant food- the chef is a talent, handcutting the onions in a beautiful shapes. Definitely would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Perfect place if you are looking for a quiet dinner for two or a family visit.

After having a couple of bad take aways from my usual place I'd decided to try somewhere new. I'm so glad I did because the food was excellent and the banquet deal was very good value and not restricted like some are. Keep up the high standards and you will have a regular customer for a long time

Had a few takeaways from here for a few nights then decided to go in for a family meal, it was amazing! Firstly, it is an amazing place itself, beautifully decorated! Then the staff are amazing, couldn't help you enough, very friendly. The meal when it came smelt amazing and it was outstanding, one of the best indians I have ever tasted! Very well done to the chef! Not to mention not only is there just indian food available but you can also order burgers, kebabs and pizzas ext. Which is great for fussy kids, plus you can bring your own drinks/alcohol but they do sell/serve alcohol and soft drinks too. All in all it was an amazing visit, so happy we went and will be returning! A very positive experience.

We had dined here when it was the Light of Indian almost thirty years ago - the Restaurant has just undergone a massive refurbishment/rebranding. From the moment we entered the restaurant the staff were very attentive, serving us drinks & taking us to our table which was immaculately set - refreshing change these days. The menu is excellent from starters to sweets, good portions at a reasonable price. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff which made for a special and enjoyable visit. give it a go, I know we'll be back!

My Family and I visited the new Shera Indian Restaurant on Wallsend High Street, Tyne and Wear. which used to be the Light of India.Under its new ownership it has completely been refurbished and now has three chefs who cover a wide range of, Indian, Italian, European & UK dishes.The menu is vast with something to suit every taste. The staff were friendly and welcoming and were especially nice and helpful towards the children.The food was well prepared and presented and exellent value for money.We had a fantastic night and I would recommend this retaurant if you are in the area.
