Came here with a friend whilst it was a little quiet and got two lovely bagels! Couldn't help but get a hot chocolate as well, and a slice of red velvet-the slice was absolutely massive, and waiters very friendly. Nice spot!

Ok let me just say the burger patties are excellent top quality and delicious buuuut the main problem for me is the use of brioche buns for burgers they were flabby and greasy they shouldn't be anywhere near a burger this could be easily remedied by adding bun options and would easily be best burger in the area till then i wont order again in a hurry....sorry

We went to this restaurant for a lunchtime pizza and a couple of drinks. The pizza when it came was beautiful with three chosen toppings on a thin crispy base. The beer was nice and cold and the atmosphere relaxed on new years day. The service was prompt and friendly and we shall return again this year.

Turning up with my family, my wife, who uses a walking stick, nearly slips on the wet tiled floor. We were then told there is no access to disabled toilets, you have to walk up two flights of stairs to get there. If you have a walking disability, don't even bother with this place. We are then seated and the service is OK, a bit slow which I'm putting down to being a Saturday night, but waiting 15 minutes for just a glass of water seams excessive. We come to order desserts to be informed that the waitress would have to check in case our table was booked out, which if it had been we wouldn't have been able to have desserts. This seems ironic as it was the service speed which would have stopped us. Luckily it's wasn't, but the game next to us were told they had to leave as their table was booked for another party. Staff were pleasent enough and prices were OK, food was lovely.

We went here years ago (same place but it was in a different location). The food is still great. The topped fries and burgers were really good! Service was okay, nothing special (it was better a few years ago). Unfortunately they add an optional service charge and I NEVER give a 5 stars when they do this! (Just add more to the food costs if you can't afford to pay your people!)

UNFORTUNATELY Cape to Cairo Shildon is closed now. Totally unexpected find in Shildon. Very interesting and different menu cooked by one of the owners who is from Sierra Leone and therefore had her own take on all the dishes on the menu. Both the chef and her husband are extremely friendly and made the visit even more memorable. We were fascinated to find that the first passenger railway in the world started outside the restaurant (which was a pub in those days) and passengers bought tickets actually in the room we were eating in. Well worth a visit and we'll be back soon

WOW! My fiancé and I dined at The Rib Room while staying as guests at Ramside Hall on New Year’s Eve. The food was out of this world, the steak was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten! Every aspect of the meal felt extra special. The staff were friendly and attentive and it was a lovely atmosphere, a slice of France in County Durham! Sadly we’re not that local but if we’re ever back in the area we’d return in a heartbeat.

Great live music venue on a Friday night. Good beer, great bands and friendly folk to chat to. Never tried the food there so can't comment on that
