Lovely little cafe that serves fantastic food and coffee. The cakes are delicious too! Customers can sit in or takeaway. Well worth a visit.

Cracking bit of food. The bacon was propper, homemade sausage patties were spot on, and the homemade fresh bread for the toast was superb. Not the first time I've been and definitely not the last.

Bloody lovely! Had pizza, loaded chips & white choc & strawberry waffles. 100% the best place for takeout food in the area by a country mile! Fresh, homecooked scran. Decent ingredients & a good sized menu. Coffee wasn't bad either!

Had my first experience here and it didn't disappoint us. Very clean and professional establishment. Very friendly staff. Not your usual greasy spoon. Nice choice of menu. Good quality food & cooked just how we like it. Can't ask for anymore. Highly recommend eating in or taking away from here.

I’ve been buying from them for quite a few months and I honestly can’t fault any of it. The food is absolutely delicious. My favourite would be the El Americano burger which is really good. I’ve tried most of the other items on the menu and all of it has been spot on. Would definitely recommend.

Sexual chocolate in a mini building of joy. Beautiful burgers made from the most polite, friendly cows possible. Each one tastes like a little bit of heaven mixed with a shot of adrenaline. Become a staple on my lunchtime fixture lunch list. Beware they close at 2pm. Get in early.

Felt compelled to leave my first ever review since social media was invented. Outstanding double burger, never tasted better in 10 years, reminiscent of the fresh burgers you enjoy in Spain when they use ground quality meat without any additives. Forget cheap food vans, pay that tiny bit extra for a quality, healthy burger. Great Discovery!

Food and service was amazing it's a must do for your food

Everything was lovely, but I would say the egg and sausage let it down. Very under cooked. I was shocked. But other than that everything else was lovely.

Me and my boyfriend popped by this place after reading trip advisor reviews that are mostly really good, we were not disappointed, it was clean, the staff are very attentive and friendly. The only downfall was my first option was not available however what I did receive was very tasty, my partner was very satisfied and always notices good quality food which he did comment on. A lovely start to our day, service with a smile makes a difference, thank you.

Just stopped for a 45 and found this little gem! Absolutely! One of the best sausage and bacon rolls I've had on the road in ages. Exactly how it should be done. Toasted rustic roll with crispy bacon and a pork sausage patty, and to top it off, skin on fries! Beautiful!

Best BLT I’ve ever had, bacon was crispy, lovely bread and the chips tasted so fresh and fluffy but still crispy on the outside. Little bit more than chains but you pay for the quality. Definitely go again and try the pizza and burgers. Lovely staff and organically run.

The food is flawless, just a shame about the service you're subjected too. For people working in hospitality you'd think they'd be a bit more chirpy but you can always count on being greeted with attitude when going to charltons.

Home made buns best around if you fancy the usual or looking for something different these guys deliver the goods

I first tried Charltons when they dropped off some freebies at our office when the Lister Road unit opened on Peterlee Business Park in early 2016. The theory that "the more you give away the more you'll sell" worked on us and everyone in our office has been hooked ever since. My personal favourite is the mackerel sandwich - fresh bread, beautiful filling, lots of it and not too much mayo... perfect! Try the Horsebox on Spectrum Business Park in Seaham too. Such a friendly team too.

Have to say I love this place! All the food is great and all homemade. My particular favourite has to be the Pork and Chorizo burger. I have tried most things on the menu and love it all! Some how they also make salads taste good!!

Had an amazing 18 hour pulled pork butty with homemade slaw. Really generous helping of pork and great value for just £3. Then had a lovely gooey brownie for just £1.

A breath of fresh air from other caterers which we have used in the past for our corporate events and meetings - fantastic freshly prepared food, hot and cold, delivered to our door. I can't get past the bacon butties, really good quality bacon and soooo very tasty! Also tasted the sausages and burgers which are top quality and delicious. Highly recommended for a breakfast or lunch stop. I'm not normally one for fast food but the free range and quality of the meat appeals. Just as well I don't live too close as would be there everyday! Keep up the good work Charltons.

I cannot rave about Charltons enough! The food is delicious - wholesome, great quality, home-made and fast! I've tried quite a selection from their menu and never been disappointed. The service is great, with friendly banter and a warm welcome. Seriously, if you haven't tried them yet you really, really should! They even bake their own bread, which you can buy to take home and let the deliciousness continue!

Ever since this little horse box has set up outside of my workplace I've had the cheeseburger and bacon sandwhich . Everything from the bun down to the salad is unbelievably tasty . Now everyone in my workplace is raving about them . Seriously , these are the tastiest sandwhiches I've ever eaten . Everything free range and organic too . Blows all the other vans away . Never known a cheeseburger to not taste greasy . Give it a go

Went with a couple of friends the other weekend to get some hangover food and it was absolutely brilliant. Definitely do back food was lovely!

i went here last week after hearing rave reviews and seeing their facebook campaign wet my appetite for what appeared to be something different in the area.i had a half day at work so took the opportunity to go, the menu board looked great and the first great sign was that i was struggling to make a choice. i opted for the cheeseburger and when i got it i was pretty much blown away, the burger was clearly not what you get in the rest of places in peterlee and you could tell it was made of propper meat, then after my first but i realised it was cooked with super confidence as it was not overcooked but coked where there was still a little bit of colour in the center of the burger, i think this shows just how confident the owners are in the meat they are using.

Had a sausage butty, fantastic quality, but it was all about the freshly baked bread for me. I had forgotten what a proper roll tasted like!

Stumbled upon the converted horse box while driving to Castle Eden golf course and had a bacon and egg roll. It was delicious. Homemade buns and excellent quality bacon. Went back yesterday for a cheese burger and it was equally as good. Will be visiting again soon. Keep up the good work Charltons!!

I called at the horse box before a walk in Castle Eden Dene and it's probably the best burger that I've had in ages. All of the ingredients are fresh and cooked to order. It's the perfect start for a walk to Horden Beach through Castle Eden Dene or a walk to Hartlepool along the Haswell to Hart Walkway.

I have only been to the van near Castle Eden but great little bait stop, cooked in front of you and I understand even the bread is home baked. Friendly couple running it too. Sausage and chorizo and sausage and black pudding are equally good.

Amazing food served from a unique converted horse box and now also served from a unit on Peterlee industrial estate. Totally different to your usual butty/burger van that chuck any old meat on the grill and throw it in the middle of a white bun. All food here is well prepared, well cooked and well served with the added bonus of tasting delicious. No need for ketchup or bown sauce here. When you have the pork & chirizo, the pork & black pudding and the classic burger on offer it makes you wonder why anyone goes elsewhere. It's often difficult to choose something new when you're remembering the taste of what you have previously had. I'm working my way through their menu and enjoy trying their new products, keep it up guys.

The food is of a high quality, freshly made in house , great value, I recommend the hot and crispy BLT. Ideal for breakfast and lunch, also for fresh coffee.

I love Charltons. They bake the bread fresh, and make their own sausages and burgers. Always have a special on with inventive twists to meals (as well as the basic sandwich).
