Fat Hippo Durham in County Durham

When I first ordered, I was given a delivery time of fifty minutes. However, it then changed to an hour and a half. The actual delivery process took ten minutes, it just took them that long to start cooking my order. Not impressed.

Never ordering again late and cold ridiculous why take the order if you can’t deliver it even Luke warm

Food was outstanding but was a little cold had to reheat a few bits but burgers were perfect

it said 30-50 min wait online for food. I ordered at 5:52 and it said it would be 40 mins. It took 1 hour 25 mins to arrive, delivery time kept being delayed. My food also arrived freezing + stale. the driver sat outside my house on phone for 10 mins

The food was great when I went to fat hippos and had it there but when I ordered for delivery, fries came soggy and the burger less than warm and the bun a bit dry.

The warm food was cold by the time it was delivered, I think there was another delivery or detour taken in the opposite direction making it cool. It's a shame as the food would have been good had the delivery been direct. Dynamic timing is ridiculous

food was on time but stone cold and was like the burgers had been sat there hours. dry! first order and won’t be ordering again

The burgers and fries were all great but I had a shake and that was absolutely shocking. £6.50 for warm milk drink. Need to sort out how they are delivered or just take off the delivery menu. Burger was perfect though

I placed this order at 5.27pm i got an email confirmation at 5.40pm. the delivery time continued to change, i received the food at 7.10pm, that is over an hour and a half late as the time originally given was 58minutes then it was 28 minutes. i called fat hippo at 6.33pm to ask why the time kept on changing and they confirmed the food was ready and waiting, my food sat for 40 minutes cooked and waiting for delivery. it didn’t say it was getting prepared till 6.53, which i know to be incorrect.

Ordered at around 16h15. Requested delivery for 17h30. Order arrived at 18h15. The burger was very nice and still warm.

What a great little place. Great food, burgers are lovely. I don’t know how the likes of McDonald’s and the like make any money anymore. When it comes to a burger these independent places like this are changing the game. Delicious buffalo tenders and tots! Will come again. My only issue would be more draught lager selection. But that’s a personal choice I guess. Big shout to Charlotte and Ruth. Thanks

Canny little restaurant. Very cosy vibes and food was on point. Pretty expensive, but it’s definitely classy food you’re paying for. Took my partner here for Valentine’s Day and she loved it.

First time going. Nice layout, friendly staff, clean, and possibly the best veggie chicken burger I have ever had.

Went with some work colleague, had the cod sandwich, it was decent but I was done with it in a minute and didn't fill me up, even after borrowing some of my colleague's chips. Had to stick with water because they refused to blend my own protein shake, despite we left over £250 there. I won't come again.

Food amazing, service amazing. Lights too low but Charlotte was amazing !!

Not a driver I hope to get again. Both shakes and the dips completely crushed and spilt everywhere, dripping out of the bag even as he was holding it. Glued to whatever he was playing extremely loudly on his phone, eyes on the screen the whole time I fumbled trying to take the bag because he was so glued to the screen. Food cold but tasted nice.

Wanted a really good burger and got exactly that. Great choice with fast and efficient service.

Good food, nice staff, clean table. Even advised on places to visit. Fair game to them. And the milkshake machine actually worked, unlike York.

Food was cold and the burgers were just threw together, no lid on the pots of soggy chips just threw in the bag.

Great place for a burger. We went on a Saturday night and the place was very busy. It did make the service slow but the food was definitely worth the wait. Vegan food was excellent, only food criticism was the Gluten Free bun was tiny compared to the burger. We went back for lunch on the Monday though and the food was excellent again.

Over 2 hours delivery and the food arrived cold and had to be microwaved!

food was fantastic but the delivery time was shocking though no fault of the restaurant. The delivery time kept changing so contacted the restaurant and found out the delivery driver hadn't got to the restaurant even though it stated otherwise on the app but the food was still hot when we got it

The barstaff are incredible and very very friendly I'm not much of a burger lover but they explained all the options and asked my preferences the staff was very natural and happy to banter whilst I was eating and they cleaned and sorted behind the bar... nicola was especially wonderful... only suggestion I have is it would of been 6 star if coffee or latte etc was available

Fantastic burgers, great service & dog friendly too. Went for the Swiss Tony, tasted amazing. Staff were really helpful & friendly very accommodating even though we'd not booked & had our dog with us. We were served by Sarah 👌🏻

Went with a party of 8, seated straight away in a comfortable area, with the member of staff attending our group friendly and attentive. Drinks and food usual prices these days, but were excellent quality. Bill was pre split on the receipt which was a nice touch.

£25 for two burgers and fries. Food was not delivered hot and the chips were stale and tasteless. Really disappointed with our order, won't be ordering again.

The staff and atmosphere were great, but the food itself wasn't very good at all. The bread felt slightly stale, and the chips were not great at all. I've been to Fat Hippo in other locations and have had a mor positive experience. Perhaps it was an off day

I’ve been wanting to try this place for quite some time but it was disappointing. Ordered a Fat Hippo burger and some Cracking Wings. The burger patty was thin, dried out and some in places burnt. The onion rings included on the burger tasted of nothing. Needed some more seasons nonetheless. Hand cut chips, bland. No flavour whatsoever. And the wings. I had one out of the serving. It was drenched in oil.

Food was really good, delivered quick and hot! Only problem we had is that they forgot our ranch :(

GLUTEN FREE ✅ Visited with my boyfriend and was delighted to find out they had a separate fryer for sides for GF customers, only thing I couldn’t have was chicken due to the coating, but there was no extra cost for GF! Beautiful food and will definitely be back

Ordered 5.55 6.30 delivery states delivered at 20.55 however only 8.20 call restaurant and order been ready since 6.30 so been sitting for over 2 hours in limbo as of now not received. Tried to cancel but can’t will never use again!!!!!!!!!!!

Lovely food lovely atmosphere as usual, vibrant and satisfying. The almost-perfect place to spoil yourself whether meat eater, vegan or vegetarian, except for the practice of calling everyone "guys".....all the time and incessantly- my wife is blatantly female; she has front bumps end everything....do we REALLY present as extras from Goonies???!!! (Heyyyyyyy youuuuuu guyssssss.......)

This was the most disappointing meal ever. The food was stone cold. In the past it has been barely warm, but at least the flavour and quality was good so I did not complain, but this was barely worth eating. Wrong beer too.
