Tango Durham in County Durham

The first few times I went here, at the old location, the food was great. I went recently and it was all really basic bordering on bad. The chicken burger and bacon weren’t crispy at all, hardly any lettuce or sauce on it, the chips were soggy, clumped together and undercooked. It all just seemed shot together in a rush. It’s a shame cause it’s a nice vibe but I probably won’t risk going again. Staff are lovely though 👍

Food was lush atmosphere was good. Bang in the heart of Durham on saddle street. Menu was good with vegan and gluten free options.

Absolutely unreal burgers !! Brilliant service and a great restaurant.

Went for the Diablo and some chicken tenders: - expensive £14 for burger and chips - doubling up the burger is not needed - was a bit greasy and dense - Diablo was not spicy and was boring. 4.5/10 - tenders are OK but not worth £3 each. There is a Mexican spice blend over the top which is nice if you like those flavours. - Chips are a bit oily - service inattentive. Lots of student types “working” / chatting with each other.

Dog friendly! The food was great and staff were really friendly and helpful and gave our dog, Bella, a lot of fuss. The nachos were especially good. Lots of veggie and vegan options too. Would definitely go there again if we’re back in Durham. Good location as well.

Let me just start by saying the food was fabulous, the new surroundings are very smart and in a great location. However, we had to prompt the staff twice for service and the place wasn't even busy. We'd been sat for a good while and the staff were too busy chatting with the barman to even take our drinks order. Starters arrived very quickly, before our drinks, which again, we had to ask for and which we could see, were on a tray on the bar, waiting. We did not pay the service charge and we won't be back. Not the first time we've had poor service here.

Easy to book a table for a family meal. Professional and friendly staff greet you on arrival and show you to your table. The drinks and food order was taken after having time to review the menu. Our meals arrived in a satisfactory time and was beautiful as always. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Tango is great at what they do, burgers, grills, fries so definitely go if thats your food of choice. Haute Cuisine it ain't. Staff are lovely, friendly and helpful and don't keep asking you if the food is ok while you have a mouthful of it. Worth the added service charge. 😁

Sadly this isn’t going to be a good review! We were a group of friends and relatives celebrating a birthday. Firstly I must compliment the staff who were excellent, very friendly and professional. But, we were informed that both the Chicken and the Fish were off the Menu, also one of the Vegetarian options. And the Local Gin (Durham Gin) was not available. Most of the party ordered Burgers, which were very unexceptional. So apart from the fabulous staff, I couldn’t recommend this place. Sorry.

We had a great meal here. The burgers were fab, as were the sides (BBQ pulled pork fried and onion rings). The portions are a good size and it's a great value menu. I hadn't been to the old location, but this one was lovely - nice decor, enough room between tables and there was a good atmosphere.

We chose to visit Tango whilst out for the day in Durham, it was a busy establishment and we had to wait a little while to be seated. We were offered a seat at the bar so we could get a drink, so we did not mind waiting. When we got seated, we looked over the menu and I opted for the Gravy Train Roux. This burger consisted of signature rich beef, bacon, gravy, American cheese, matchstick potatoes and roast garlic mayo. The meal was very filling and full of flavour and the fries that came with were well seasoned. We were seated in the front of the restaurant on a table that was very close to another, I felt like it was a little too close to and we were intruding on the other party’s meal. The service of the actual food was rather quick which is great but we sat for a while with our bill waiting to pay and we felt a little out of the way being sat at the front.

Food was alright, had better burgers, but ambience and service was good.

'Snack' lunch. Hot, filling and tasty.

Been meaning to try this place for a while now, so pleased I finally got round to it! They recently moved to a new location and it is gorgeous, the building has so much character, I absolutely loved it! We were seated really quickly and our servers were all super friendly and helpful. I opted for the K-House from the signature menu, and just wow! Has to be the best burger I have ever tasted, it came with home made skin on fries that were to die for too. Already planning our next visit 😍

First time visiting tango and was very impressed, food was next level and service was good ,and to top it all of the decor was very modern

Decor looked lovely so decided to go in, we were not disappointed with our choice. Lovely friendly staff, great beer and fantastic food. We both had burgers and couldn’t fault them, chip portion big, so hubby got a double helping.

Put simply it is ‘absolutely belting food’. Burgers are the best ever, chips are ridiculously good and despite being a burger joint my veggie mrs said it was sumptuous. Service quick, efficient and friendly. Would visit over and over and would recommend to anybody.

Came here for our Christmas family meal. Although it was very busy and a little crammed, it was lovely. The best burger I've ever tasted. Bit of a late review, but only just getting round to it. The whole family enjoyed it, and was a great start to our yearly family Christmas weekend get together.

While traveling from Sherborne to Perth (Scotland), my husband and I stopped in Durham for a break. We were pleasantly surprised by the town itself and stumbled upon this burger restaurant that offers a variety of unique toppings. We went with The Uncle Sam which was nicely grilled and topped with flavorful cheddar cheese, pickle, lettuce and tomatoes. The crisps arrived in a separate dish that maintained their warm temperature throughout the duration of the burger consumption.

The service is really tough but the T-wings are really delicious I came here without a reservation and the staff rudely opened up a four-seater with two people sitting there without even apologizing to them. But the wings are so delicious. Recommended

Excellent service and food. Visiting with 25 school children, staff could not have been more accommodating. Kids had a fantastic time; fab choice on the children’s menu and great value! Would definitely recommend.

We came to Durham for a date night, purely just to visit tango and a few pubs. The beef croquette starter and squid was unreal and the steak frites are not to be missed. The Mrs had the chicken tango burger and practically inhaled it. The Tempranillo wine was stunning, I just didn’t finish the bottle. All in all, 200/10 will be returning again. Always book to avoid disappointment :)

I was gifted a voucher a year ago that I needed to use, burgers aren’t really our choice of meal so we had been in no rush to visit. Have to say we were pleasantly surprised with Tango and it’s been over 5 years since I first visited. Staff friendly, venue was lovely, was really warm as a cold day outside and nice ambiance. The food was lovely. Like I say not a burger expert by any means but I thought my burger was delicious as were our home made chips. The only downside was the service charge they automatically added to our bill. Not informed on arrival of this and no option to remove. I always leave a tip for good service but I don’t think for 1 adult and a child should be automatically adding £5 (suggested is fine not added to bill)

We visited Tango , just for drinks but after seeing other peoples food coming out , we decided to stay and eat and we was not disappointed, we ordered the loaded Nachos which were fantastic. I had a great visit to Tango to meet up with 2 good friends, I had visited the old restaurant before and enjoyed it so I hoped this experience would be similar and I wasn't disappointed! I had the Uncle Sam Burger, my friend had the Diablo Burger and my other friend had The Parmo and we shared some onion rings. All tasty, served quickly in a nice atmosphere at a fair price! Best burger I've ever had, I got the lockjaw (double and upgraded fries). The burgers themselves were amazing quality and the pulled pork was delicious. some people complaining about the fries but personally I loved them. They're not crispy and they're quite soft, almost like a butter sautéd potato, and they're not over seasoned. You can add your own salt and pepper so not sure why that's a complaint for some people, I hate when I get food thats too salty. Awesome service as well. 10/10 will come back!

I’ve been to Tango in the past before they moved location and this new restaurant is much nicer with far more space and nice decor. The burgers are absolutely incredible, I loved the Van Man burger I had. Unfortunately, the chips we got were really awful and I’ve heard it’s not a one off occurrence. They’re just full of oil and are very floppy, almost like they haven’t been cooked enough nor seasoned well. Given that this is half the experience of a burger meal, I need to limit my review to a 3 for food! Staff were great!

The restaurant is new to Durham’s main shopping drag and replaces another restaurant that left some months ago. It was surprising how much the restaurant has changed and you can see the new owners have made some major investments that have certainly improved the feel...

Very poor service when ordering takeaway on my work break! Paid for and waited for food that was never coming.. the resteraunt allows you to purchase takeaway online even when they are not serving take away and the only thing you leave with is the hunger you entered with.. not even a discount on your next order, for their error in taking your money and making you wait until the order time, for food that is not coming. Apparently its the chefs discretion if he wants to make an order and he didn't want to.. DEFINITLEY AVOID!

Awesome burger and really great service

As a burger lover, I’m a big critic on any burgers I have. The burgers at Tango are a good portion size, and the burgers were actually soft which is uncommon in most burger restaurants. The softness of the burger was perfect as there was more flavour. The onion rings were huge, definitely fresh. Chips were okay. They have a mini bar on site and the cocktails we ordered were lovely too. Took a while to pay the bill, but saw they had a table of 10 people in. Overall really pleased with my experience here. Will be revisiting.

Hubby had chips with pulled pork they were divine, I had nachos that could have fed 3 the portion was way over the top, I am a nacho fan but they were dreadful, no real cheese it was a cheese sauce that you squeeze out,very plain nachos no taste whatsoever, sour cream also squeezed out of a plastic bottle, no salsa, diced peppers and SWEETCORN was their home made salsa,not a hint of tomato at all,to be fair to Tango the two boys serving were very nice and very helpful and I did not get charged for the nachos, would I go back...yes but I'd get the chips with pulled pork it really was sublime.If you buy the nachos remember it's not a one person portion it's enormous.

Lovely Tango double burger , nice wings, slaw and fries although next time I'd have a topping on the fries as they were a little dry. Good service and nice atmosphere to this place. Recommended.

Don't get me wrong, I love this place, but opening times are a bit misleading, google states it's opened until 11pm, but we weren't allowed in at 9:30pm, although there was plenty of free tables inside on a Thursday night, any ideas why?
