Tgi Fridays - Durham in County Durham

We have visited quite a few times, for bottomless brunch, but last visit 14th September was my daughter's (small) hen party, I must say it was a such a pleasure to be looked after so well by all staff, Never had to wait for drinks and food was lovely, Would most definitely recommend,

We went here last night as a treat for my partner and I. It was absolutely disappointing. We arranged a booking online in good time for 730 and arrived just before this time, We were stood waiting for someone to come and greet us but could see noone around. Eventually after a loud cough from myself someone came and saw us to our table after waiting around for 5 minutes. Once our server was Fiona, whom was trying her best considering it seemed very understaffed was trying her best. After a short time we had our orders taken. We ordered 2 starters and 2 mains. Whilst we were in there, there was 5 tables the whole time of out visit. There was one who came in after us and was told there was a long wait on food (we were not advised on this by the gentleman who seated us) after about 25 minutes we were told our starters were not available and we opted for something else. Our starters came out at 815 and then we waited a further 40 minutes for our mains after the starters were taken away. I could see the hot lights where the food was being stored after it was made where I was sat and the burger my partner had ordered was sat there for 15 minutes before being brought over causing it to be rock hard stale on the bun so it was sent back and was told it would be 5 minutes. 15 minutes later it came back out and some how in this time the burger patty had be burned charcoal. Already frustrated at this point we asked for the bill and left almost 90 minutes after we arrived. Disappointed and hungry. Personally I feel with less delivery orders going out, which I had watched going from the kitchen to the drivers, and more staff to help the poor server this restaurant would have been more of a successful visit. Very disappointed.

Visited as a family in June and it wasn't up to what you would expect. Long wait and uncleared tables everywhere. We are always up for giving a second chance and booked a table in July. We arrived on time and were told we would have a 30 minute wait even though we had booked. They had an issue in the kitchen and were short staffed. There were only 10 other people when we were eventually seated and another wait to order our drinks and food. Again very slow to bring our food and my order was wrong so I had another wait. The food was OK and the waiter was pleasant. If you really like the food there and don't mind a long wait then go for it.

Russ was our server he was absolutely fantastic In making sure we had a a fab time. He made sure I was catered for as I have an allergy so he told me what drinks I couldn’t have. He was really faultless

Went at lunch time, it was dead for the atmosphere. But have to say the smash burger was one of the best i have had in a long time

Don't normally do ratings, as im a hospitality manager myself. But felt I had too on this one. Food was very poor and tasteless. Service was very poor, staff need to be more aware of customer needs, tried several times to get attention from staff to order another drink, gave up in the end. Im gluten free and this Being a large company I expected that they could cater for this, but as with most places it isn't actually catered for, they just take anything with gluten in off the dish and don't replace it with a gluten free alternative. So your basically paying the same price for the dish but not getting the complete meal. With so many gluten free products readily available know, it shouldn't be hard to replace the item. First time there & definitely won't return.

Fiona was unreal really lovely women made my best friends birthday the best it could of ever been so happy with our bottomless brunch would 100% recommend all staff are a star

We walked in a Saturday lunchtime. the staff were welcoming and before they showed us to a table, they asked about allergies. I mentioned mine. Once sat at the table, I was given a pad with the dishes which would work for me. I chose chicken salad and requested it without dressing. The other three members chose from the menu. The food was cooked and presented well. It was a great experience.

What a beautiful place the staff are amazing and so friendly went well out thery way to help you, the food was stunning. Everything was so nice. Yes I will be going back.

Food was delicious, gimlet was amazing, Ellie A was super friendly and attentive.

Eve was the best to us, she was the only one who came and asked us if everything was okay and kept us topped up, i love her, the drinks were fast she asked if we needed topped up

As I entered TGI’s Durham I waited four minutes with no interaction with any staff and walked out despite it being empty (with the exception of two ladies) however there was what appeared to be a member of staff in a black hoody eating a pre packed sandwich and Doritos probably on a break at a table near the bar but no staff on the floor. I went outside and returned after two minutes and waited another two minutes before greeted by someone speaking loudly behind the bar saying there will be with me shortly. I waited another three minutes before being seated. I explained I don’t require a menu as I would be ordering the bottomless sesame chicken strips and a refill Coke Zero. After about two minutes I received my Coke Zero and a further six and a half minutes I received my sesame chicken strips which to my shock had a pitiful sprinkling of salad and a pot of sauce not even half full accompanied by six to seven pieces of chicken. Upon seeing this and in shock I complained and the staff seemed surprised and apologised. At that moment I told him my experience so far with waiting, going out and returning and waiting again. He apologised and said there was only him. For a evening service I would have thought more staff would be on. I requested to speak to the manager and he stated he was one of them. I requested his name and he stated it was Bear. I told Bear I would not be accepting this service and he repeatedly said that’s fine to which my reply is no it’s not as the service is bad and I still need to find somewhere to eat. I told him I was leaving and he once again said that’s fine. As I was leaving I observed two members at the front door seen vaping, not a really good look for those coming and going. As I am a regular at TGI’s throughout the country I know what the norm or service, waiting times and food presentation and sadly TGI’S Durham falls well below any standard your other restaurants have and I had previously been here and suffered service not very dissimilar to this occasion. But like anywhere you have bad days. Sadly the two times I’ve been here have been very bad and I will not be returning.

Really disappointing time here. I go to TGIs regularly and I had bottomless brunch for the first time in Durham which was really upsetting. We came for a celebration and they didn’t have any Prosecco after we’d upgraded to cocktails. I complained to say that we hadn’t received our cocktails after nearly an hour to which the staff were extremely unhelpful and seemed to be obstinate on purpose.

Great food. After an hour and a half, rang the restaurant to cancel the order. They said the food was already waiting in the locker ready to be collected but no one was collecting. All the meanwhile, the app was saying ‘food being prepared’, and estimated delivery time continually being extended. After 2 and a bit hours, I went to collect the cold food myself. Estimated time at the time of booking was 40-55 minutes and in waited in excess of 2 hours. My child went to bed before her food arrived!

Russ was amazing, very helpful and attentive. Lovely atmosphere and he engaged in conversation, made us laugh etc. thoroughly enjoyed and will be back because of Russ!

This location is spot on for amazing desserts and cocktails. Top customer service and friendly surroundings. Can’t wait to go back!

Went on a Wednesday evening for all you can eat chicken wings. Well worth it. Fiona was our waitress and she was busy, but always on form with her service and suggestions. Second time having the wings. Looking forward to the next time.

Whilst they're enjoyable to visit and eat in the menu has a much smaller range of meals than it used to have. This particular TGIF has great service and my rump steak was cooked well, so many restaurants overcook their steaks.

We had a fantastic meal here on Thursday the 13th June. Great value for money and superb service was provided by our server Fiona. She had great knowledge of the menu and was very attentive. We would definitely return!!

Lunchtime cocktails with friends.

Standard TGI Fridays, food is nice, presentation the usual tiny bit different to what on the menu, nice chips. Service took a while even though the place was empty. But food and drinks were nice.

Extremely expensive for lack lustre fare.

Had bottomless brunch the food was lovely but the rest was poor. Had taken 20min for the first drinks to arrive which was only spirits very poor communication from the staff to bar. Then after first drink they ran out of vodka

I took my daughter for the first time to enjoy the £5 cocktail specials. From the moment we entered Russ was friendly and welcoming, He then guided us to some recommendations which were delicious! What a pleasant experience from a great brand ambassador. Ellie was lovely too while taking our payments. Thank you both so much, we’ll definitely be back.

Nice food spacious and clean. We went midday so place was dead. Nice food, we got the chicken share plate ive forgetten the actual name of it. Only problem is that its quite expensive.

Burger was beautiful the glaze sauce is pretty amazing fries perfect not salty or anything the chef is some boy

Totally amazing, the food was gorgeous and as were the cocktails, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and contributes to an amazing atmosphere. Our server, Lewis, was extremely friendly and attentive the whole evening.

Horrendous experience! The food tasted like it had been sitting out for days, and the service was as slow as molasses. Save yourself the disappointment and dine elsewhere.

If you enjoy food poisoning, then this is the place for you! I spent the entire night hugging the toilet after dining here. Absolutely appalling hygiene standards.

Me and my partner booked a table was my partners special birthday. The staff didn't look at the book for our table. When we were taking to our table it wasn't set at all. we were sat down got a menu handed and the girl left we sat and sat so me and my partner got up and went else where.... so I have been told and seen good reviews it's my birthday April the 3rd. Me and my partner are guna book a bottomless brunch and give it another go 👍

Ok just luck of consistency.. one day burgers are nice and grilled other day just just roasted and taste bit fishy ..

Setting in the Durham restaurant was very nice and we were served by Ellie who was a great host. There were four of us (all adults) who all had different meals and each of them was ‘okay’ but nothing more. The cost however was very expensive in comparison to similar settings. Overall, we enjoyed the meal but the very high pricing would stop us returning.

Eve was a polite waitress and she made the experience fantastic, food was excellent and delivered very quickly well done

The food was delicious. I ordered from the set menu and everything was great and a decent size. The pilsner was really refreshing. The staff were very attentive and the service was very quick.

Me and my sister decided to book here for Bottomless Brunch, as we were out celebrating her birthday! The staff were all warm and welcoming, making sure we always had topped up drinks! The restaurant had a great atmosphere and amazing playlist! Nothing was too much from the staff, and they even helped to celebrate the birthday with a slice of their signature cake and of course the famous TGI birthday song! Russ (manager) and Dylan W (name on our receipt) went above and beyond to help us celebrate our day, and I would highly recommend the Bottomless Brunch to any and all friends/family!

Chicken wings and fajitas was amazing!! And our dessert was so mega yummy ice cream topped with cake honestly heaven!! Jamie is also such a babe he was very entertaining and attentive and really made our visit memorable!

Fantastic experience from arriving to leaving, we were greated and served by Jamie who couldn't help us enough, everything was top class service. We opted for a birthday sundae for our child's second birthday ( shared by others ) along with other drinks, Jamie was very friendly and professional and Ellie who I believe made the sundae 🍨 was so helpful. We visited as a group of 5 for bottomless brunch. Food was excellent, a good choice & shared plates, sesame chicken absolutely gorgeous👌 The best part was the service they looked after us so well, nothing was a problem & made the birthday girls day! Plus we never had an empty glass 🥂 Much better than other brunches we've been to. Would highly recommend for a special occasion. Massive shout out to Lewis who served us, you made our day. Not usually a one to complain, however the experience here today has been terrible. Came for a family meal with 2 young children after being to the odeon. We waited 40 minutes to have our drinks order taken, the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk, we were sat in the middle of everyone getting drunk on bottomless brunch (not against bottomless brunch in any way, just would have thought better management would have been to maybe sit family's sesperate?), food came which was lovely, however no one came over to ask it was okay. Sat about another 20 / 30 minutes waiting for the plates to be taken away / to ask for the bill, so by this point I asked to speak to a manager. Manager didn't even apologise and just said he'd ask someone to come straight over and take payment. Would not recommend for a family meal (or bottomless brunch to be honest as the service was so slow, couldn't even get my diet coke refilled) and will use other restaurants in Durham in the future.

Just cannot go wrong with a bowl of sesame chicken strips and as an extra bonus if you sign up kids eat free! Great service by Kaity.

We visited Friday's for lunch on sunday as it's my daughters favorite place to eat. We were welcomed and seated by a friendly staff member. Kerry our server was quick to arrive at our table to take our orders as well as give my daughter a balloon and the colouring pack which she enjoys. The food was great as always and we can't wait to return. Kerry and another staff member (didn't get his name/possibly manager) really made us all feel comfortable and even gave us some extra advice on the bottomless brunch deal I enquired about. Look forward to returning!

We went here after having just been to the Odeon along the street. It was my choice for my birthday meal and I had the Sesame chicken strips with a salad and a bottle of cider. The strips are a fave of mine and have had them many times, first time at this venue though. My husband had a Fridays Glazed double stack burger and it was huge. We shared a side of mozzarella sticks and were completely stuffed after our meals. We were served by the lovely Ellie A who was courteous, friendly and very helpful.

Had a lovely lunch, had the 9.99 deal. Great server Chloe I kept our glasses topped up. Very friendly and helpful.

Visited with family from Australia, was greeted with a friendly service as soon as we walked in the door by Russ. We managed to get the best seat in the house, waiters Eve and Jamie were friendly and always made sure we had a full...

Lush experience here. Russ was lovely to us and even offered us a free drink to toast to mine and my fiancee’s engagement!

DISASTERCLASS! The food was dramatically disappointing, not only in flavor but in size. For what you’re paying I would expect to get a plate that doesn’t resemble a kids meal. The service was good but that’s just about the only thing. Will never be going again

Apart from the food (which is why we went) our experience tonight was really disappointing. I’ve been going to TGI Fridays for about 30 years and was looking forward to trying the one in my local city. I appreciate its Saturday night but the music was ridiculously loud and it felt like a nightclub rather than a restaurant. We asked a few times for it to be turned down but it wasn’t. If the place had been packed with revellers that would have been one thing but it was dead. We would have spent more money if it hadn’t been such a horrible experience. The cherry on the cake was when my 13 year old daughter and her friend were asked to leave when they asked where the toilet was. We did get an apology but it just soured the evening further. Obviously I am too old to go to TGI Fridays on a Saturday night. Judging by the number of empty tables maybe I’m not alone. We did ask to speak to the manager before we left but they didn’t arrive.

Far too overpriced read the menu and left. Which is what most people have done in that it was empty week before Xmas Sorry.

Stunning food, excellent service.

We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and the first impressions were great with polite friendly staff giving us a warm welcome and also a fantastic young lady playing acoustic guitar and signing! The covers had her own twist and it was perfect. Great experience and we'll definitely be back to sample more menu options and possibly take advantage of the bottomless brunch offer. We had the sharing plater followed by sloppy burgers and it was far too much food for two so I'd only order the sharing plater with a couple of extra sides. The plater was delicious 😋. The staff continued to give great service the whole time and very very helpful of any questions, so we'll done to the young team keeping so motivated on a Sunday lunchtime 👏.

We went new years day and struggled to get anyone's attention to get a seat. The food on offer was painfully overpriced for what it was unfortunately, there are much better offerings in Durham for the price. It's a lovely looking place but I don't see it lasting due to the prices, I don't mind paying a lot of it's worth it but this isn't.
