The best restaurants in Scotland

This is a lovely, friendly cafe in the community; it had been a while since I'd eaten there so was really hoping the food would delight - unfortunately not I'm afraid, the coffee was great but we ordered the goats cheese tart and it was really rather unpleasant. Very chewy and bouncy, very bland with the occasional (very) overpowering pop of strong goats cheese. Salad was under whelming too, hard under ripe tomatoes and sad looking bits of lettuce. I'll just stick to coffee in future!

Very disappointing lunch very slow service, only one menu for four of us to look at, placed my order explaining to the waitress I am allergic to peppers so none on my salad , out came my lunch with peppers, also asked for a ham cheese and mustard and no mustard was on my sandwich, nobody came and checked on us after recieving our food and drinks , would not recommend this place at all!!!

We found this randomly on our holiday to Orkney. Very much in the middle of nowhere but lovely beer and a nice atmosphere. A great place for a drink, food and some souvenirs.

First time our family has eaten here and we were all impressed. The parking is free if you are dining or staying within the hotel, let reception know and you can check your car registration in. Food and service The service from Charlie was excellent and the food from start to finish was extremely tasty.

Popped in for a Saturday lunch. The place was packed. The staff were ran of their feet but the server let us know she would be with us soon and couldn’t have been more apologetic. We did want to have some cakes but nobody came back to clear the table despite it quieting down. Food was tasty.

Fabulous place for a relaxed lunch. An authentic family run restaurant adhering to very high standards. Superb and authentic Italian food, fabulous service and a warm convivial atmosphere. If you are in the Scottish Borders, very highly recommended.

Been a few times even last week. The usual cheer male staff member barely spoke and just mumbled the bare minimum. Told him I had an egg allergy then be served a breakfast which was obviously cooked in same pan as eggs. Lucky we noticed the egg white all over bacon and black pudding. NOT ACCEPTABLE. Staff needs up to date allergy training. Allergies can kill.

Gem of a traditional pub beside the canal. Warm and welcoming.

This is a magic wee place. Excellent cake and coffee in a pretty garden setting, with friendly and relaxed service and a cat that was keen to try for a sample of my cappucino (denied). In the shop, a good array of small gifts and really lovely handmade candles and skincare. I bought candles and body lotion. While I fully appreciate that folk need days off, I was disappointed to only be able to visit over the course of my visit as closed Friday and Saturday. I'd have definitely popped in again and made a few more purchases if I could have.

Good food and service. Close to the hotel. Must have been good as taken by colleagues who'd visited the previous night. For the UK good value for money & decent portions. Certainly a welcome change from the average and all prepared just for you. I'd certainly go back.

Cozy little coffee shop with great coffee and delicious breakfast & pastries. Great spot to eat in or do takeaway.

The cafe was at best half full but a very rude lady informed us she couldn't serve us - no explanation or apology. All very strange and incredibly poor customer service

Genial! El bocadillo de pastrami buenísomo! El café muy bueno. El servicio y la atención excelente. También tienen sopa. El local es pequeño arriba pero en la parte de abajo hay un comedor que imita los vagones del tren, muy acogedor!

The worst breakfast I've ever been served. Even the dog didn't eat any of it. A complete waste of money. Avoid unless you've no taste buds.

We live in the area and are delighted to now have a lovely restaurant to enjoy!
