What a gem! Market Street hotel is located right across the street from Waverley train station. We stayed in Great Britain for 21 days and the bed here at Market Street Hotel is ranked the highest. So COMFY. The room was well-appointed, the mini bar was stocked with drinks and snacks, the staff was so helpful/friendly, the room was spotless, and a fantastic shower. The location is perfect. It is so close to everything we wanted to do on this trip. Market Street hotel had everything we needed to enjoy our 3 days in Edinburgh. What a way to start our travels in Scotland. We would definitely stay here anytime we're in Edinburgh. Highest recommendations for this place ❤️
Stopped for a piece of cake and a cup of tea. It was a lovely, easy quick stop on our journey and we enjoyed it very much. The almond and cherry cake was delicious.
Very nice restaurant mixing classic/ modern British and European cuisine.
Although for a Saturday evening in August was quiet, it seems this style of restaurant would do far better in somewhere like Bristol or Manchester or a more fashionable rural area such as Cornwall, mid-Somerset (I.e., Wells), the Welsh borders or Aberystwyth where there will be far more more foody clientele/ customers and where the chef could be more adventurous

Microwaved dry scrambled eggs, couldn’t eat them. Blasting eggs in a microwave is not a culinary skill you should be paying for! Lady very nice and offered me an alternative fried egg which looked like a poached egg, coffee was nice & sourdough good quality but I won’t be back for microwaved eggs!

We ate here after a show at the Playhouse on a recommendation from a family member that lives in Edinburgh. The restaurant is spacious and light and the service is superb. Our waiter Gabriella was so patient with us (5 chatty females who hadn't seen one and other for a while) The menu had lots to choose from and on the whole the food was good, although the calamari wasn't great and although we ordered the tortilla medium it was a wee bit dry. The pork cheeks though were outstanding as was the paella. All of the portions were a really good size and great value for money, as was the wine. This restaurant could really cash in on its locality to the theatre but it absolutely doesn't. It also doesn't include the service charge as standard which is another absolute bonus in my eyes and the service was outstanding! This is an absolute gem of a restaurant in the current climate of excessive overcharging by most other restaurants. A definite worthwhile visit ✨️
The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish… unique with a fantastic blend of flavours. The menu has a fantastic range of options to cater for everyone. There was a slight wait for our food however, the quality was worth it. We came for the steak pie and were not disappointed, it was served out of the dish at the table with vegetables, chips and a puff pastry top. We were presented with homemade scones before our starters arrived. They also have a tempting dessert menu.
From the moment we were seated our waitress, Caitlyn made us feel welcome, hanging our coats up, greeting us with a smile and attending to our every need with impeccable professionalism.
Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and she offered excellent recommendations. She was on the ball and attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our glasses were always filled and that we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Despite it being busy, she made an active effort to get to know customers.
The service was prompt, and the food was delivered hot and delicious. Caitlyn went above and beyond to make our dining experience special, her likeable personality and enthusiasm to work shone through in the way she spoke and managed tables on a busy Saturday night.
I highly recommend The Tavern at Strathkinnes for a delectable meal with top-notch service. We will definitely return when next in St. Andrews.
Tranquil place with popular cafe on the station. So good. We had banoffee cake and lumberjack cake and was blown away. So do not miss this gem of a place. The drive there is fabulous. May see stags and birds of prey on the way. Staff were great too ! You’ll need to be able to take the step over the bridge to the platform!
Sorry no cake pics
