Waterside Cafe in Highland

Cute little cafe. Ginger and plum cheese cake was lovely. Perhaps portions a bit big? I would say check your tea cups as ours had tea stains in them.

We stopped by this café on a rainy day while traveling along the coast of the Scottish fjords. It had a very cozy and homey feel, like a place run by a family. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The interior was simple, but the atmosphere was warm and calm. It was nice to take a break from the road and enjoy the view of the bay through the large windows. The food was tasty, and the prices were reasonable, especially for a tourist area. Everything felt natural and made with care. We were happy to discover a place like this — honest, quiet, and with a personal touch. Definitely worth visiting if you’re passing by. We’d love to come back someday.

We ordered 2 full breakfast.. the sausages were old as were the beans like they were left over from yesterday. Eggs were good tattie scones were okay. Bacon needed a little longer cooking. Coffee was good As were the cakes But definately not worth £40 If it’s coffee and cake you are after then go but breakfast I would not recommend At no point did anyone ask if everything was okay 👍 We also sat outside and waited 45 mins for this place to open based on google reviews. Very disappointing

Lovely little cafe with a great view out across the loch from the window tables, also has some outside tables. Friendly helpful staff and good food. Enjoyed the soup and the cakes.

Very expensive, and bordering on a rip-off: 21.30 pounds for a mozzarella, red onion, and tuna sandwich... If that's not a joke, I don't know what is! Avoid at all costs 😡😡😡

Love the waterside cafe, came for the first time over a year ago and now back in holiday. Perfect coffee after walking up a big hill and many GF cake options which is great when a coeliac.

We stopped for tea and cake, which were tasty, and the team was friendly and helpful. It's a perfect stopping point if you are coming from Inverness, a bit of a leg stretch along the front and then indulge in a tasty treat.

So glad we stopped here for breakfast. All the staff were so lovely, it's super dog friendly and the food was amazing. All the produce tasted so fresh and flavoursome, you could tell it was locally sourced. Great value.

Stopped off at the waterside cafe in between stops on the NC500, lovely little place with super friendly staff and amazing food for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend to add to places to go if passing the area. *Downside was that maps showed as closed so almost went to a different place, so glad we spotted that it was open as we passed

Stopped here for a takeaway lunch as we were travelling, very busy, after I'd placed my order the queue was out of the door, food was delicious, fresh and presented lovely in a box to take away, highly recommended.

Great wee place!! Husband had the cooked breakfast, and I had the homemade granola yoghurt with loads of fresh berries, it was perfect! Coffees hit the spot too. Highly recommended!

In short, we visited on pizza night and they were some of the best pizzas we had ever had. Okay slightly longer version, I have been lucky enough to try pizzas throughout a number of Italian cities and one restaurant I ate at, is consistently voted in the top 20 pizzerias in Europe. The pizza's would not have been out of place at any of the Italian restaurants I ate at, they are fabulous. I hope the young chap who creates the Waterside's pizzas continues to do so and if so I am positive we will see his pizza's in the top twenty someday. Sorry I should note that the cafe is very stylish and very popular. All the staff are friendly and helpful. It's not unusual to find this gem full, so I recommend booking in advance. Note, if you are unlucky and can't get a table, ring and enquire about takeaway, as I believe they offer this service. Looking forward to visiting again next year

This was only a coffee and cake visit so can't really comment on the food quality. The cafe was absolutely packed but service was as ever first class.

We went to Waterside Café for breakfast a few days in a row. Our group had a wide array of dietary requirements and we were amazed to see so many delicious options for all of us! The staff was warm and welcoming and the (vegan and/or gluten free) cakes were fantastic! Highly recommend giving them a try if you're in the area.

BEST SCONE OF MY LIFE. Stumbled across this place and I am so glad I did. Great vegan and gluten free options. We got breakfast to go, myself the avo toast with vegan feta which was delicious and my husband the champions breakfast which he got the plant based version of their homemade granola, yogurt and fruit, this was beautiful to look at and tasted even better. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Dog friendly too which is a big plus. We got scones to go, after years of being vegan I’ve had a few vegan scones and they’ve all been okay, these scones were the best I have ever had including non vegan ones. Can’t recommend this place enough, great latte too! will definitely be back!

You will be thankful for the food since there aren’t many cafe’s open all the time around here. The quiche was decent and grilled sandwiches fine. The cakes are dense. so we poured our coffees over them. The staff are super friendly and nice.

When we walked in, we where made to feel like an inconvenience for taking the last available table. When placing our order (at the till) we where made to wait while everyone behind us was served first. Our food took ages to arrive, several other tables where served thier food before us despite arriving after us. When we finally got our order, one dish was missing, the paninis we where served where cold, but did taste OK. Would not return.

Exceptional Caffee, with delicious food, the nicest staff and beautifully arranged space: display of all goods have been made with care and lovw. You can buy here some souvenirs, local cosmetics. Travel guides availabe for reading, toilets clean and equipped with care. Overall I am impressed, this caffee is a rare thing!

Very nice little dog friendly coffee shop by the shore of Lochcarron with excellent food and friendly service. I specially recommend the scones, the Eggs Benedict and the green smoothie. The service is a bit slow but therefore everything looks and tastes freshly made, so it is worth the wait.

The most adorable cafe right next to the loch, with lovely people. I was blown away with the Honey Walnut sweet treat and had the best Chai latte so far in Scotland. I can highly recommend this cute place… everything was just perfect from the food, coffee to the service ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A lovely cafe you can tell the owner really cares about her buisness, the decor is lovely the food is amazing, great quality and well presented. We went in a little late in the day, but we was still met with a smile and my gluten free requirements was met with ease with a brie & bacon melt my husband had a chorizo panini then i had a gluten free Nutella brownie my husband had a pecan tart both was thoroughly enjoyed along with a fantastic cappuccino 😍 The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and I would totally recommend here if your visiting the area. And would like to thank the owner for serving us even though late in the day and catering for those of us that are gluten free 🤗😍

Nestling among the waterfront cottages in the picturesque village of Lochcarron lies the Waterside Cafe. The food is very nice and served by lovely staff. The cakes and pastries looked amazing Comfortable interior- clean and tidy with various touristy items for sale. Would recommend a visit to the cafe if in the area.

A welcome pit stop for lunch driving the NC500. The food was really nice and the owners/staff also very friendly and welcoming.

Food was excellent! Great sandwiches and also had a smoothie that was delicious.

Arrived after a soggy ride, parking is opposite the cafe with a lovely lake view. Was only a pit stop whilst waiting for my friend to arrive so was a cake and cuppa for us. Omg this cheesecake was so yummy. Well worth the money and taking the time to indulge.

Literally like it's name, a cafe at the waterside, except it comes with really good breakfast, cakes dessert and coffee. A must try of their avocado toast with egg and their Bagel!!

Travelling the NC500 in September, options on the section between Shieldaig and Inverness for breakfast seemed to be limited. Having finally found the waterside cafe, it was extremely busy with limited seating. It was a long wait for the food, but worth it.

We really loved this cafe, it's a gem. Great atmosphere and the staff were all absolutely lovely. We enjoyed the food very much - particular shout out to the delicious vegan cakes and scones! It was great (and a difficult choice!) to have so many options. It was also lovely how kind the staff were to our dog, who very much enjoyed the treats and attention (and the chance to show off her tricks)! Thank you to our favourite cafe in the area!

Awesome service! The kitchen was closed when we arrived, but they were happy to make us 3 dishes, coffee and beer.

Just stopped off for a hot drink, ended up having a snack as well. Scone and strawberry tart lovely, top marks! Some other food came out to other customers, looks like we need to come back again. Very friendly staff who can't do enough for you, lovely idea behind the cafe as well. Dog friendly, can't fault the place at all.

A lovely cafe on the main street of Lochcarron. We stopped for breakfast and I was delighted as they offer Gluten free options, for breakfast, lunches and a good selection of cake! And our pup managed a treat too. Service was good.
