The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish… unique with a fantastic blend of flavours. The menu has a fantastic range of options to cater for everyone. There was a slight wait for our food however, the quality was worth it. We came for the steak pie and were not disappointed, it was served out of the dish at the table with vegetables, chips and a puff pastry top. We were presented with homemade scones before our starters arrived. They also have a tempting dessert menu. From the moment we were seated our waitress, Caitlyn made us feel welcome, hanging our coats up, greeting us with a smile and attending to our every need with impeccable professionalism. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and she offered excellent recommendations. She was on the ball and attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our glasses were always filled and that we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Despite it being busy, she made an active effort to get to know customers. The service was prompt, and the food was delivered hot and delicious. Caitlyn went above and beyond to make our dining experience special, her likeable personality and enthusiasm to work shone through in the way she spoke and managed tables on a busy Saturday night. I highly recommend The Tavern at Strathkinnes for a delectable meal with top-notch service. We will definitely return when next in St. Andrews.

I have to say one of the best meals I’ve had it was the pork belly , my wife had haggis stuffed chicken our friend had a sirloin steak and commented that how can a steak taste so different, the service was top of the world and the waitress was very very good, we had a good conversation with her ,

We were at the Tavern this evening because my cousin was visiting and it was a weekly meal stop for our grandparents. Today was our grandfather’s birthday so it was so important to us, that his memory was observed and that the meal was enjoyable. We booked the table and arrived on time. My cousin was told the beer choices and ordered one of them. The waitress came back and said that wasn’t available…a glitch we thought but it seemed to be the theme for the night… My husband ordered chicken and haggis and my cousin ordered soloing steak, her son ordered fish and I ordered fish. Cue the poor young waitress, yet again, to tell us the steak and chicken were unavailable and she said it happens a lot that, at the end of the week, they run out of things…not ideal. My husband can’t eat fish and six of the menu choices were fish based and the risotto was with steak so he was left with the only choice being a starter. Not ideal and no apology whatsoever. I don’t think we will be back and the “trip up memory lane” in memory of our grandfather was not very good to be honest. It seems that you should either ask what they have left before you order or go at the start of the week, when they’ve ordered things..

Lovely pub outside of St Andrews. Menu was really nice with varied choices. Decent food and reasonable prices on drink. Ambient cosy feel to the restaurant, service good and nice touch with warm cheese/ garlic scone to begin with! Looking for honest food outwith the ‘high prices’ of St Andrews, definitely worth a visit. Really enjoyed the evening, thank you👌🏼

This spot is great for a casual night out in a traditional pub setting. Family run, the menu offers a lovely selection of top quality mains done to perfection. My favourite is encrusted salmon and the fish risotto. You’ll definitely need a reservation as this is a popular restaurant/pub. Monday night there is usually live traditional music. Its off the beaten track which makes it less touristy but the ambiance is always warm and inviting. It’s 5 minutes from St Andrews with stunning views from the edge of Strathkinness. Staff are delightful and attentive.

Visited The Tavern looking for dinner without making a reservation, and although they were fully booked, they managed to accommodate the two of us in the bar for food. The staff were lovely, very attentive, and happy to provide anything we needed. The food was delicious, definitely the best we've tasted in the St Andrews area. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for homemade, fresh, delicious meals whilst in the area. It also has great views from the tables outside.

We had been staying at lodges in Cupar, and The Tavern had been recommended as a place to eat. We were not disappointed. On arrival, we had a warm greeting and shown to our table. The waitress was polite , courteous, and friendly. There was a wait of 40 minutes for our food, but it was freshly cooked to order .We had the steakpie and the haggis chicken both were lovely, we didn't manage dessert . We will definitely be back when we are in the area.

Amazing food at and amazing place with lovely friendly staff. Ate here on Monday and they coped with a group of 11 of us (including 2 children) with no issue. All food was lovely and came within a reasonable time. The children's menu is the same menu as the main menu just with smaller portions resulting in a happy child as she could have what everyone else was having. Very reasonably priced. If we are in the area again we will definetly be back.

Had a lovely meal here and finished it off by listening to the folk musicians and singers in the band. Great ambiance and friendly pub. The only disappointment was that they are no longer dog-friendly in the bar which puts them at a disadvantage with many of the great St Andrews pubs.

Great meal with myself and the wife after reading some previous reviews, great food with background folk Monday music from some locals jamming which was very pleasant. Food was all home made and was of far superior quality to some of the intown restaurants and well worth the taxi ride out. Some fresh and warm hand made scones as a wee freebie also a lovely touch. A very worth while place to visit if you are staying in St Andrews for a few days in a lovely quaint tavern.

This is the second time I’ve visited in the last 6 weeks. I ordered the same thing again as it was so good and I’ve been dreaming of it ever since. The pecan & seaweed encrusted salmon is unbelievable! Please never take it off the menu. The sides with it are perfect too. Every dish on the menu sounds so amazing!!! This is not your average pub grub. The Chef is special, please keep him forever!!!

What a find. Great welcome from the moment I walked in. The owner, had great knowledge of his product and his enthusiasm for food and beverage simply shines through. Louise served in the restaurant with charm, finesse and friendliness. Anywhere that offers a huge garlic scone as an amuse bouche is off to a flier in my book. The starter of king scallops and black pudding served on a bed of pea jus was sublime and the fresh and light Albariño only enhanced the flavours messing with my senses. The melt in your mouth steak pie which followed, with hand cut chips and deliciously presented seasonal veg- forced the procurement of a beautiful fruit driven Rioja crianza. Heaven, and two bites into the starter I booked again for 2 days later. I could have had any one of the desserts but plumped (appropriate) for the meringue, strawberry ice cream and Chantilly and Graham sneaked me an off piste glass of Aus Chardonnay dessert wine. The cost of all of this was ludicrously fair given the incredible quality of ingredients and skill deployed in preparing and presenting to guests. I waddled home incredibly happy. Seriously, a very high benchmark has been set for all local hostelries. Thank you.

My wife and I were staying close by for the weekend, and saw the Tavern was walking distance, so we chanced our arm with a last minute booking. There was a function on, filling the main dining room, so we were in a seperate room. We were worried we might be forgotten about but it was the opposite - staff were on the money, very quick and attentive. I had the fish tacos and pork belly and my wife had the haggis and mushrooms and risotto. The quality of the food was unbelievable, especially for the price. Our two courses, two beers and a bottle of wine was around £100 and worth every penny. At the end of the meal, we asked if there was a local shop as we needed milk for tea in the morning. Unfortunately there wasn't, but after we asked for the bill, the bill came with a bottle of milk from the kitchen, as they 'couldn't see us go without a cup of tea'. If you're in the area, go out of your way to visit. If you're not, go out of your way to visit.

I ordered the salmon coated with nuts and a herb butter sauce. The salmon was burnt black at the bottom. Fortunately my companion loves burnt food so he ate it. The rest of the salmon was very dry and there was no sauce. The restaurant was busy and nobody came to see if our meal was ok. When the girl came to remove our plates I asked about the sauce and said that the salmon was dry and badly needed it. She came back after talking to the chef and said that the sauce was underneath the coating . My companion had the smoked haddock risotto which was divine. Not impressed with the salmon though

My husband and I managed to book one of the last tables available tonight and had a fabulous dinner at this little gem, accompanied by some great quality live music! The food was amazing!!! I am a vegetarian and often have to settle for not so interesting/tasty options, as the majority of smaller restaurants still seem to treat vegetarian dishes as second class. This was not the case at all at the Tavern! I had a vegetarian haggis wrapped in grilled aubergine with some red cabbage and cauliflower rice, amazing sauce and chunky chips on the side! And it was absolutely delicious!!! I am inspired to attempt to replicate this dish at home! The second veggie option on the menu was Mushroom and Courgette Risotto, which I am sure would have been as delicious as the dish I had. My husband had pork belly stuffed with apples, which he said was very tasty! Special mention deserve freshly baked scones with butter served here as an appetiser (in place of more common bread rolls)! Service was very professional and friendly! We will definitely be back again!

I chose brie in breadcrumbs with beetroot relish and although the brie was tasty there was very little beetroot relish. The Tavern although coronovirus closed is offering a takeaway service. We had fish and chip collected last night and it was a lovely tasty welcome treat. Thank you very much for continuing to provide meals to us in Strathkinness in these difficult and upsetting times.

Stopped off here for a meal by chance. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious and fresh and reasonably priced for the quality. Service was fast and friendly. Complimentary scones while we waited on our meals. Would definitely recommend.

Popped in here for a quick Christmas Day drink when visiting the area. Lovely atmosphere and we were made very welcome. Pity we hadn’t been staying longer or we would have been back!
