We happened to stumble across this hidden gem after visiting the aquarium and we enjoyed it so much we went back for more a few days later! What really struck us was the passion that has gone into this business. A little off the beaten track but well worth a visit! I really hope this becomes a chain as it surpasses any mainstream burger chain in the country. Come to England soon!

We went twice in a week with a large group. Food was quite frankly brilliant. Best burger I've had in a very long time. Smashed fries were something else. We loved the owners enthuisiam for his food and knew we were into a hidden gem. Well priced food and a sea view. Honestly couldn't recommend it more. You deserve to be packed out, keep up the good work 👏

2 star review purely on the food nice place nice people. Burger patty was tasty enough. The bacon on the other hand was barely cooked and it was just fat. Killed it all with too much questionable sauce. It was served too hot and I believe that's why the whole thing was soggy. I came for food through a recommendation unfortunately not to my standards or anywhere near the level of other burger establishments within the town and on that basis I would say it's very overpriced for it's quality and location.

Come here all the time and never had a bad meal from here! The food is incredible- think five guys but better and cheaper. the rosemary fries are amazing and the milkshakes are made with ice cream from Janettas. The staff are lovely and the service is great. The location is great, tucked in right next to the aquarium so if its a nice day you can sit out on the balcony and eat your food, when the weathers not so nice you can sit by the window and watch the sea rage away. Also before the aquarium began its renovations if you timed it right you could sit in the restaurant and watch them feed the seals, so once the seals are back there's that extra perk as well. Honestly best burger place in Fife!!

Tasty burgers and fries, including veggie burgers BUT no kids options, no other real options apart from burgers/fries/drinks. Also, worth noting that the menu section titled ‘plant-based burgers’ is referring to the fact they feature Beyond patties, but several of the options contain dairy cheese and not very clearly labeled as such. Not the cheapest for a cafe vibe (~£10 for a burger plus £4+ for fries) but very tasty. Quick service, all disposable tableware. 6-7 indoor tables with 3 high chairs, plus a good amount of outdoor seating on decking near the aquarium/sea.

We visited early evening, wanting a tasty and simple meal and Saints Sizzle was delicious. They took the order promptly, brought drinks straight away and the rest of the food arrived as soon as they could prepare 3 fresh burgers with fries. The atmosphere was great, jazz music brought a little flair and our table had sea views that would come with a MUCH higher cost at the other hotels and restaurants on the coast. We stayed for dessert and ordered a second round of drinks (IPA, Sauvignon and the house chocolate milkshake). The burgers were well made and were very tasty and the fries were excellent. I had the mashed fries - I loved them! The diner is on the same site as the Aquarium and would be an ideal stop off after an Aquarium visit. It’s also right on the edge of the beach. I didn’t quite know where I was walking to but following the Aquarium signs would do the trick. We visited after reading the Tripadvisor reviews - I decided to disregard the, er, ranty review recently, about the burgers not being vegan. I’m really glad we went, it was a fabulous laid back meal with great food and breathtaking views.

Came across this afternoon leaving the aquarium. There was a little confusion over the plant based burgers being vegan or vegetarian but it was very easy in the end as they can be made either way. We asked for vegan everything and got vegan cheese, bun, sauces etc. Burger was nice and made quickly but the rosemary chips were amazing. Nice little find. Vegans don't be afraid to ask :)

UPDATE AUG 2024 Please be aware that their plant based menu is only the burger patty and not the whole burger! VERY misleading and I've only just learned that when I ate here I consumed dairy cheese under the illusion it was a plant based burger. Extremely irresponsible and odd that they wouldn't just buy vegan slices and buns.

We went in briefly and asked for a table. We were directed to a table however the table itself was not very clean, the chairs and the cushions also did not appear clean and had marks on them. The menus were of the laminated kind but they felt very sticky to touch and did not feel clean. We did not feel comfortable to stay. The food may well have been good and I have not rated the food as we do not know but we did not feel happy with the environment. I expect the owner will make some critical response however first impressions do count and our first impressions were not good at all. I would like to return one day to see if there are changes for the better.

🛑 Huge warning to anyone visiting St Andrews anytime soon 🛑 (I will be reporting to trading standards) I visited St Andrews and found this amazing looking plant based menu next to the Aquarium. Having two vegan kids and being vegan for 15 years+) I was pleasantly surprised by the menu. 👇 I ordered the Umami-mushroom cheeseburger and instinctively felt something was off, but double checked that I’d ordered from the plant based menu and carried on. After finishing and feeling slightly queasy, I asked them what cheese they use, to which they replied “cheddar slices”. None of the extras on the Beyond Meat burger are plant-based!! I asked them why they were advertising a plant-based menu (in green for full effect) if it wasn’t actually plant-based meals that they were selling, to which they replied “we only say the burgers are plant-based”. Thankfully, the kids didn’t eat much and I’m fine other than a sore tummy, but this is seriously misleading and potentially dangerous if someone is very intolerant to dairy. They just did not understand what I was trying to tell them, and continued to argue that I was wrong. I guarantee many people have eaten here assuming that the plant based burger menu is…plant based!?…so this is a warning to be VERY careful if you are in St Andrews and see this menu.

Lovely place, great location and stunning views! Service was good, table side order and delivery with option to order via QR code. Went with the Umami Mushroom burger, with Scottish prime beef, sauted mushrooms and melty cheese sauce. Smashed fries with Cheddar cheese sauce. First impressions: 10/10 Pinhole foil wrapped burger, steaming the bun. Mega load of fries with cheese sauce on the top. Biodegradable wood cutlery, napkins and Heinz ketchup and some vinegar in the tray. First bite of the burger was absolutely delicious. Could instantly taste good beef. Unfortunately, the mushrooms were very heavy on the rosemary, to the point where it overpowered the rest of the ingredients. Overall....could have been great, just a little heavy on one ingredient detracted from the experience. Fries...tasty... but, I suspect the oil hadn't been changed recently, definitely left an old oil weird aftertaste. And very, very oil heavy. Final thoughts: lovely venue, absolutely stunning views. Food is ok, a few minor tweaks could make it epic. 4/10 recommend.

Well, I must say, I don't quite align with the glowing 5-star reviews given by other viewers. While the burgers were decent, they didn't quite reach the level of excellence I've experienced at Five Guys and Shake Shack. Unfortunately, the burgers we tried were a bit on the salty side and somewhat soggy. The cheese fries suffered from excessive saltiness and lacked the desired crunch. Additionally, the shake portion was rather small in comparison to what I expected. On the bright side, the staff was pleasant, although it was interesting to learn that they required the owner's approval to offer a student discount.

I'll be honest about this place because I don't want to be negative and sound like I'm trying to be mean. The food in this place was great. It was very juicy, tasty and especially hot. The fries were just as good as the burgers. The portions were pretty generous. We really can't fault that at all. There's lots of little issues else where. First off is the service. Look, the guy serving us was nice. Top bloke. No actually complaints with him personally. But this place really needs a single person out front to keep things in check. The food took a while to cook and that's okay, but the lack of communication with the customers is obviously a negative. Also, the tables were sticky. Maybe it's the type of soap used because it didn't look or feel dirty. But it was a little icky to lean on. The upstairs is quite loud, booming and echoey. It's fine for general chit chat. However, I'm going to sound right horrible for saying this. But when we went in, we were between two tables of kids who have learning difficulties and were quite loud. My wife and I have a lot of patience for these sort of things, but other people would have walked due to the noise amplified by the rooms acoustics. As an example, the children in the aquarium were undisciplined, loud and screaming. How awful would it have been if that crowd were in. It's hard on the ears and maybe some furnishings to lessen the empty room acoustics. I know this sounds negative. But I'd happily come back. I mean, the food is what counts and we loved it. Got exactly what we wanted and were very happy to pay for it. Just some things need to be worked on. All the best to you guys and we'll be back next time we're in town.

VEGANS AVOID! I was lured in by a long menu of plant based options. After paying for our order I was informed the bun had cow’s milk in it and was not vegan. I would never have ordered a burger without a bun. They were unwilling to refund or give a discount on my order. Only fork no knife with a £9.50 sad burger. Let us pay at the end rather than the start so I am not tricked. Also no toilet roll in the toilet but edible chips and good view.

A great trip down memory lane. Thank you. You guys know how to flip burgers. You perfectly captured the essence of a good hamburger experience. I never thought I would find In-N-Out-grade material in Europe. It’s in St Andrews, everyone. With wonderful views, great music, lovely staff, and outstanding fries. Keep up the good work! Addendum: the unfortunate reviewer who claims that the paddies are not caramelised has no clue. A smashed burger should develop the Maillard reaction, not caramelisation! The latter is the result of sugar oxydation, while the former aims to achieve a chemical reaction between amino acids precisely to reduce the proportion of sugar! This reaction occurs at lower temperatures than caramelisation and is essential for the delicious crust that forms on the outside of the patty. Understanding this difference is crucial for appreciating the art of cooking.

Update: Downgraded to 1 star for poor response from the owner! I was holding back in my review: your burgers are the definition of mediocre and bland. Hands down one of the worst burgers I've eaten. If you as a chef cannot take the heat, perhaps get out of the kitchen ;). Anyway, I highly recommend any prospective customers try out the other nearby burger place in town. Clearly far nicer people working there. Same price point but actually enjoyable and high quality. Original review: We gave this place a shot after seeing the glowing reviews and were excited for a scrumptious burger. Unfortunately, I don’t understand the hype around Saint Sizzle. Both our burgers lacked juiciness and caramelisation of the patty. There was no caramelisation on the fried onions either. This lead to a dry burger with a distinct lack of umami flavour. We didn’t like the fries either- too sweet tasting from using a high starch content potato. The type of burger you get here is very reminiscent of Five Guys (which I despise due to the dry texture and blandness). If you love Five Guys and underwhelming burgers, you’ll like probably like Saint Sizzle.

This is the best burger spot in the UK. I say this as an American burger lover. The patty is crispy and meaty, the cheese is perfectly drizzledly melty, and the bun is just right to contain it. Our extended family of 3 adults and 5 children (ranging from 10 to 6 years old) ate here one Thursday lunchtime in January. We were visiting the aquarium to entertain the children during the school holidays and decided on this restaurant for lunch. It's just at the side of the aquarium building which you can reach from the gift shop or if you're not visiting the aquarium there are a set of steps down to the restaurant outside. Inside there were 5 small tables and one large table just perfect for our group. It's a bright and airy space with more seating space downstairs next to the toilets perhaps for peak season or events. After being seated, we could tell the restaurant just had one staff member working (the chef). Some people who had sat down decided to leave after waiting and not receiving any service. Big mistake for them! At most we waited 10 to 15 minutes to place our order (with the chef). Being seated at the table next to the big window we just enjoyed the views of the St Andrews shore line and the crashing waves. We then waited another 10 minutes or so for our burgers, fries and drinks which were brought out (by the chef). The first thing we noticed was the proud presentation of the meal by the chef which he did for every table. He didn't look unhappy nor flustered. The meal came in a neat basket with sauces (including proper vinegar - yum!) and cutlery. It was not thrown to you in hurry (though you'd forgive the chef if he did as he was working there on his own). And then... WOW! The burgers were amazing, so tasty, soooo good! It took me back to a Puerto Rican burger joint in New York City. The patty was sublime and you could taste the quality of the meat as it crumbled in your mouth. We went for the regular classic cheese burgers and the Saints Sauce was this perfect mix of tomato and mayonnaise I think - it was such a moist burger to the very end. The toasted soft bun and foil wrapping which the burger comes in means everything is held in nicely. It wasn't one of those burgers where you're trying to figure out how the heck you'll fit the whole thing in your mouth - it was just the right size, quite filling and super value for money for the taste alone. Fries were delicious and generous (like Five Guys but at the fraction of the price), tasty and crispy. I'm regretting not looking at the menu properly so I'll just need to go back and try their other burger varieties. I had food envy as I watched these three young students devour their burgers at the table next to us who had clearly known about this place as the wait didn't bother them at all. All this and did I mention it was just O N E staff working? Not only did we see him serving his restaurant diners but we also saw him making orders for collection and the aquarium staff too! Well compliments to the chef for everything and he should be proud of the great quality food and service he put out there on that day. We certainly enjoyed it!

I was blown away by the customer service and will return time and time again. I would highly recommend the Cajun fries and milkshake - both are outstanding. If you are ever in St Andrews, you must visit Saint Sizzle! It is located next to the Aquarium on the Scores and near the Old Course.

Best burger I have had in St Andrews. And the cajun spiced fries were out of this world. Will definitely be ordering again.

We hosted ours sons 21st at St Sizzle. James was very helpful and accommodated all our requests. He allowed us to put up banners balloons and decorate the tables. He kept the beer chilled. The atmosphere was great. The food was fantastic. Fries were hot and crispy, plenty for everyone. The burger was certainly the best I have ever tasted. What a great place to share a special time with our son and his friends.

Easily the best burger I've had outside the US and among the best compared to those I've had back in the States. I'm an American and I'm passionate about burgers. These guys really know what they're doing. Had the classic cheeseburger. Highly highly recommend.

I seldom rank a burger restaurant a five-star, but this one really deserve more than just five. I tried ‘Umami Mushroom Cheeseburger’ and ‘Cajun French Fries’ and they were all incredibly delicious! The sea view was also making food better. Isn’t it?

Found this spot on Google when I was researching places to eat near The Old Course. As a big burger fan I chose this place. The smash burgers were amazing and the fries were tasty too. I had the cheeseburger with fried onions and pickles, highly recommend. We had a friendly young man serving six of us. Some of our party forgot to order drinks as he didn't prompt it, so we went without. Totally our fault for not being prepared. He got busy and we didn't want to do another transaction to order more. Saw some milkshakes being served and they looked amazing too. The outdoor picnic tables looked lovely by the water. We sat indoors and I found the environment to be a bit noisy as the loud jazz music echoed in the small space.

Excellent and unpretentious American-style burger joint located next to the Aquarium. Simple menu focused on burgers, fries (not chips!), and milkshakes. Equally great for the "ugly American" tourist looking for something that tastes like home or the proud local looking for a tasty yet not expensive cheeseburger. The fried onion burger (grilled onions for you Yanks) was particularly good, and the servers were quite friendly. Will come back.

No idea why this isn't number 1 for burgers on St Andrew's! Stopped off for a night on the way to Aberdeenshire and couldn't believe our luck. Lovely spot right on the water tucked away next to the aquarium. 'Proper' simply cooked burgers, not full of crazy toppings, just super tasty and fresh. And what a spot.... beautiful views just a few minutes walk from the town.

What a gem of a find after a lovely visit to St Andrews Aquarium! In our almost 2 weeks on holiday in Fife we have avoided any fast food franchises that we could eat when at home. However, as a local St Andrews business we have this a try! Best burger patties I think I have ever had, so tasty and the red onion and red Leicester burger was amazing. We have 2 portions of fries between 3 of us, as recommended by the staff and it was plenty and they were so tasty too! Would highly recommend a visit for delicious food and to support a local business who pride themselves on their food and service, both of which were excellent 👌

If it was down to the food, this place would probably get 5/5. However, it’s not. So they haven’t. We went to the restaurant out of convenience, being with a 2 year old that was still excited after visiting the Aquarium. We waited 10 mins to place our order, we then waited 35 mins for said order to appear. Fast it is not. The food is brought out wrapped in foil, in small plastic crates. Novel, if the crates were clean. We checked to make sure our food hadn’t actually touched the crates, as they really were dirty. For a burger joint it’s expensive and you don’t even get a plate. McDonalds get away with that cause they’re relatively cheap. When your pay up to £10 for a burger you want a plate and proper cutlery not wooden tooth picks. As well as being slow, the waitress that served us couldn’t have been less interested if she tried. The card machine already thrown down on our table before we’d even ordered, not even a thanks or a smile. We were charged 50p extra after asking for mustard, which never appeared until we had pretty much finished our food. I had the cheese jalapeño burger and it was lovely. My wife had the umami mushroom burger and it was good. My 2 year old had a plain burger and it was good. The buckets of chips are nice and the portions are pretty big. So if you’re going to, give yourself plenty of time. You’ll need it.

I really can't say enough how good these burgers are! We popped in a few weeks ago in passing and were amazed so we had to come back. On second visit it was again confirmed! They are just so yum! The fries are great too and the whole family has a new favourite place to eat in St Andrews. The staff are so polite and friendly too. You won't be dissapointed!

Superb food, view, staff. Had a quick munch here with a friend late on, greeted with a warm welcome and great service. Will definitely be back! All the best. Edit - after further trips here i noticed the chips had changed due to change in frying oil, peanut oil to vegetable oil is a cheaper alternative but somehow the prices went up on everything? I’ll hold my hands up and say I don’t know what it takes to run a business but surely you either lower quality or up the price, usually not both. The peanut oil fries were some of the best I’d ever tasted, now the change to vegetable is just underwhelming. Sad to see but maybe that’s just the climate for the small business’. Sadly have to change my star rating and my frequency coming to Saints Sizzle, lovely people though and hope they succeed.

Haven’t posted here for a while but need to do this review after 2 visits here this week. I live here so have tasted most of the burgers in town. This is hands down the best of a very good lot. Star of the show however is not the excellent burger but the rosemary fries. I really think they may be the best I have ever had. Food and service here is hard to beat. Do yourself a favour and pay this place a visit

This place is a gem - the best view in St Andrews and fantastic burgers and fries. Perched on the cliff next to the Aquarium, you can sit inside or out and enjoy real food fast. We visited with our teenagers and loved eating looking out at the sea, the cliffs below the town and the old tidal pool. Slightly hidden away, but worth searching out for its location alone. They also do delivery but we say sit in and enjoy! We will definitely go back - must be even better when the tide is in under the deck🙂

Visited here during a trip to St Andrews. We each had the classic cheeseburger and Cajun fries. The burger was well seasoned and juicy with perfectly melted American cheese. The well seasoned fries were reminiscent of Five Guys fries but even better! Our server was very polite and the service was very quick. The restaurant is right by the water front and beside the aquarium which provides a gorgeous backdrop to lunch. Outdoor and indoor eating or take away are available. Will definitely be visiting when we're next in St Andrews!

I ordered a classic cheeseburger and fries here for takeout one evening while we were visiting St. Andrews. The food was delicious and the owner was so friendly and gracious. My husband remarked that it was one of the best burgers and fries he has ever had :) The place is just a few minutes walk from St. Andrews Old Course, so it is very convenient if you are hungry and looking for a quick bite to eat like we were after walking the course!

I ordered a 10" hot vegetarian pizza and a chicken pakora. Despite paying for an extra topping of jalapenos, there still wasn't many. The pizza was "stodgy" and not very nice. Regarding the pakora, despite being a starter, the portion was huge and quality wise, it was okay. Sorry to say but overall, I was very disappointed and at £17.10 it wasn't cheap for what I got.

Excellent service, food (even smaller portions available), fresh veg (not frozen), good pricing too. Only accepts cash which isn't a problem, but you can't pay for food at the bar as its separate from the pub. All round excellent. 🎈RECOMMEND 🎈
