Had a lovely lunch in Drift after a walk along Troon beach. The weather was gorgeous so it was nice to sit outside. The staff were friendly and service was quick. There is a good choice on the menu (also for dogs!). I had the Greek avocado with poached eggs which was delicious, full of flavour and very tasty. My husband had the brie, bacon and cranberry toastie which he also enjoyed. We will definitely be back next time we are in Troon.

On the pricier side for a pool/spa/gym membership, but well worth it. Great, well-maintained facilities. The pool has a sauna, steam room, hot tub, plenty of loungers, floaty toys, and a huge window facing the beach. There are certain adult-only hours which are listed on the website. Super relaxing and luxurious, and they even provide towels. The gym has every machine I can think of, a wide range of loose dumbbells, kettle bells, step platforms, etc, and a squash room. There is a timetable of various exercise classes. Smaller towels are available for the gym as well. Lovely staff who will greet you like a friend, gorgeous location, generally not too busy. Restaurants within the hotel are again not the cheapest but very good. Be aware if you are disabled you may need to wait for access to the dedicated changing room as families tend to use it, despite it not being advertised as a family changing room. On the plus side your carer gets free entry and the staff go above and beyond to accomodate your needs. Any problems I've reported have been quickly and efficiently dealt with

We have been here before but, the service at that time was terrible. However, we though we would give it the benefit of the doubt. It wasn't too busy so, the waitress sat us at a window seat.We waited patiently for some time and my husband eventually tried to catch the attention of one of the several waitresses who were wandering around clearing tables. He was ignored on all three attempts. I eventually went up and asked at the till if someone could take our order. I sat back down and waited again as the waitress began dealing with another customer. There appears to be no one in charge at weekends and service is haphazard to say the least. We left and went next door

Just a wee day out, ended up in Troon looking for somewhere to eat, and what a find Tempura was. Can’t fault the food or service at all, 10 out of 10, 5 stars, however you rate it, top marks.

We visited for High Tea. This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and a good view depending on where you are seated. We were apparently the only folks that reserved tea that day and the restaurant was empty. There was no one to greet us at the host stand. We were finally noticed by a very busy server that was also serving the large bar area in the room next door. Our reservation (which I not only confirmed but added an extra person to) had to be located. The tea, sandwiches and sweets were good. Nothing really stood out. The server was not able to attend to us as well as she had to keep running back to the bar. I had higher expectations for this old and established location and it did not deliver.

If sitting on a tatty faux-leather banquette, blistering up like a bad pluke, is your idea of quality then this is your place. The food is not any better. Bacalao came in a cold dish quickly making the chorizo and black pudding taste like your chewing fat. The menu reads great and you think you’re in for a treat then, when the food comes, it is so disappointing. Drinks service was forgotten – doesn’t make for exciting times, especially with only four tables in the place! It felt like there was more atmosphere in space. When the waitress ladled Troon’s least exciting Patatas Bravas onto the table and spilled oil over one of the diners first-time-worn blouse, well, this doesn’t lend itself to a good day either, especially when that person is your wife... Kudos to the poor girl, she did make a genuine and heartfelt apology and took details for the manager to contact us which was re-assuring. That there was no call from the manager is, given the day’s experiences, not surprising but entirely expected from an establishment that doesn’t have working locks on the toilet doors. Places like this chase people away to the city instead of highlighting the offerings a small coastal town like Troon can offer. I suppose they’re holding out for the cashflow increase during the Open in 2024, well my advice if you’re one of these visitors is quite simple - look elsewhere. If a restaurant doesn’t care to spend money on the basics such as seating and toilet door locks why would you want to spend your money with them? I can’t think of one reason to go back. Not one.

We do/did regularly stay here but nowadays, i would be wary of them. A good hotel gone bad? possibly but it does need to be fixed or all that million pound plus refurb will go to waste. bad food good service = ok good food bad service = ok but bad food bad service = bust
