Venice Cafe Upstairs Restaurant in South Ayrshire

Specifically returned here for a 2nd visit as the 1st visit had been so good! We found this place by accident around 3 weeks ago & were pleasantly surprised. The food was fantastic and the coffee is the best we've found in Ayrshire! And all very reasonably priced! Give it a go. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

We stopped-in today, for the first time. The service was great. The food was superb! And they make a great coffee....Nothing more to add except to say, we will be back!

Popped into the Venice, having not been for a number of years. Loved it. Menu is fantastic - good food, kept simple. Fairly priced. Coffee lovely and warm. Salt & pepper chips - wow - a real treat either to sit in or take away. Only thing I would say …. To make for better atmosphere would be nice if there was back ground music (even just a radio) as it can be awkward if not busy. Highly recommend for sit in or take away.

Tasty very bus waited a while but because there was a golf open that's to be expected in fact everywhere was packed we will have a meal at a little gem we found when we arrived in Scotland last week thanks

We visited the Venice Cafe today for brunch and it was of its usual high standard. One of these times we might try getting something other than our favourite French toast with maple syrup and bacon...but it is just too good. The staff are friendly and welcoming and you always leave feeling like your custom is appreciated. 100% recommend.

We stopped here for a bite to eat before the ferry. I was surprised to find somewhere on a Monday in a small town with such good gluten free and vegan options. The food was tasty, came quickly and was a great price. Would recommend.

Visited on the 17th March at lunchtime, Grace was our server and apologised as there was a slight wait for our order to be taken but to be fair it was as if everyone had all arrived at the same time as everyone all left around the same time too, so all the staff did well coping with that. The food was excellent, it was brought out freshly made and was really tasty, my daughter who is a really picky eater had the French toast with bacon and really enjoyed it, my husband had French toast too with maple syrup and he said it was one of the best ones he’d tasted, i had scrambled eggs and toast and it was well presented and tasty. I would definitely get it again. I will go back there again as the ppl serving were polite and the food was super tasty, might have been a slight delay in order being taken but with what seemed to be everyone coming in at once it was understandable and the food/drink was served really quickly and freshly once order had been taken. Will be back again

Great soup, average toastie but excellent and friendly service. Very accommodating with a baby and had lots of gluten free options (and knowledge). Would return for another bowl of that soup any day!!

We had popped down to Troon for a walk to blow away the festive cobwebs and decided to go for lunch since the weather wasn't great. The cafe was busy and the very nice young woman who served us suggested she take our phone number and let us know when a table was available. As promised, we got a call within 5 minutes and we returned. We always have the French toast with maple syrup and bacon and it was dynamite, as always. Great food and a warm welcome, what else do you need?

Delicious food, great service, perfect for lunch or brunch. The very nice owner gave us a little Christmas sweet treat to take away, which was a lovely touch.

Great little cafe! We stopped for breakfast on our weekend away and will definitely be returning on our next visit. Quick service, friendly staff, reasonable prices and the food itself was top quality produce. Decorated lovely inside and offers a selection of lovely cakes.

My husband and I had a lovely lunch here. Cullen Skink and loaded fries with salt and chilli chicken. Both dishes were lovely and fresh and the waitress who served us was really nice and friendly. Reasonably priced too, would recommend :)

A lovely warm welcome from the team on arrival. We always like to choose an independent place to stop at where possible We ordered Cullen Skink soup and a bowl of chilli chicken with wedges. Plus hot drinks. Our server explained what the ingredients were in the food which was good The food was very tasty and piping hot It's always good to try some of the local cuisine when you can and the soup was delicious Definitely a nice place to stop for lunch

Welcomed with a warm friendly greeting, service was prompt and friendly, best coffee in the area- worth the visit alone. Mains were brilliant and good sized portions. Good selection of cakes so indulged in a treat at the end. Good value for money Would highly recommend this wee gem to anyone.

Decided to travel 8 miles to breakfast here. Mistake! Restaurant nice enough looking. Considering this was quite early and not many customers the toilet (yes only one) could have been cleaner and smelling nicer. But to the breakfast. I did think about having the full breakfast and this may well have been nicer. I opted to have two breakfast rolls. The rolls were cheap and nasty, think of a six pack out of the cheap and reduced section of a supermarket. They were really bad. I had asked for the bacon on my rolls to have the fat removed and to be medium to well cooked. I received cindered bacon. The fat had not been removed but in an attempt to perhaps hide it the 2 very small rashers of bacon on each roll had been had been cremated (may it rest in peace!) I left half of each roll and had removed the bacon onto the plate. The server did not how to manage this - she did ask if everything was ok and tried to just walk away as I told her no! Would not return! Tom

Day out in Troon with wife and two kids. Went around 3pm and it was very quiet. Warmly welcomed and service speedy. Menu was a mix of played meals and snacks, sandwiches and soups. Varied and appealing and priced well we thought. Two of us had sandwiches, one had macaroni cheese (which was the best we’d tasted!) and one had a loaded fries bowl (bacon, black pudding, onion and cheese sauce). Food was fresh, piping hot and very tasty. Drinks were good and also well priced. Food came in good time and staff checked back that we were happy. Chatty but not overbearing. We had coffees to take away and these were very good quality too. We are not in Troon often but will definitely be back when we visit the town again. We also found out they do a Tempura menu on a take away basis which looked great too.

This was our first experience at this welcoming establishment. We three each had the full Scottish breakfast with tea. The food was plentiful, tasty, well presented and very good value for money. Service was friendly, attentive and prompt. The only niggle concerned the availability of ketchup and brown sauce, which was provided (upon request) in individual small sachets, placed on the table, one-each at a time, necessitating further requests. A bowl/basket containing an assortment of sachets, brought to table with the food, would alleviate the issue.

Had a double roll, which was perfect, and a takeaway soup which I payed £4.00 for, nxt time I went in it was £5.00, just eat orders of takeaway soup are £6.00, is something not right here

Lovely, friendly service. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with “I’ll be with you in a second” while other customers were being looked after. So many places just ignore you - it makes all the difference just to be acknowledged and welcomed. A really good and varied menu and all 4 of us found something to our liking. Just a lovely experience all round.

The Venice Cafe in Troon is a modern style of cafe/restaurant with a comprehensive menu. We were in for breakfast and both chose the breakfast wrap which consisted of square sausage, black pudding, bacon, tattie scone and a fried egg in a toasted wrap. Served with beans on the side it was substantial and very tasty. Service was prompt and friendly.

Where to start. From going in to be met with warm friendly staff, to going over the wonderful menu. Deciding on poached eggs and avocado on soda bread toast . Perfection on a plate , then having a smooth aromatic coffee . Amazing taste . 5 stars . Can't wait to go back

Went to the Venice today with my wife and 17 month old grandson. The food and service were excellent. Only reason 1 point was deducted was that there was a slight issue with the WiFi for contactless payment. Otherwise excelkent

Light bite with a friend. When at door asking for a table, woman responded passive aggressively and proceeded to serve a table. Obviously busy, but she could have handled herself better there.Young guy in the jumper came to our table to apologise. At first puzzled, but then we realised he had gotten our Nougats the wrong way round (I was given my friend's order and vice versa). He was nice enough though and more enthusiastic than some of the female staff who looked unhappy, though I know what working in a restaurant can be like!On an aside, a family member said they heard the owners having an argument recently. Not the best public image.Clearly, this establishment is no longer in its heyday.

Down at Troon for a rare day away and needed something to eat, it doesn't look much on the outside this place but we're so glad we found it.Its small but cosy, the seating is wooden but it's ok, food was slow to arrive but was well worth the wait, Fish n Chips were well cooked and tasty with a generous portion, Roll & sausage & bacon were lovely & top quality.We couldnt leave without trying the cakes on display and they were a little bit of heaven, a bit pricey but worth the extra for the quality of the food we received, we'll definitley be making a return visit, would highly recommend.

We got takeaway a lot from here during lockdown and every time it was superb . The Cajun chicken tempura with pasta salad and fries being an especial favourite . Also tried the roast dinner and it was great just wish we had ordered more ! The owners are really nice and friendly and accommodating .

With Mother in a wheelchair, well into Second childhood and father in tow (94&91) and me feeling this is hard work .......... We were wecolmed in with open arms and a Smile by a very lovely young lady and and young man .... Shown to a window table that we'd chosen and on this atrocious inclement day we had coffee and tea served with a couple of absolutely huge scones......... The one and only downside if you can call it that apart from mother using the top of Scone as a frisbe and it landing on floor the butter was rock hard and stuck to knife more than what's left of the Scone........ I think we were all greatful looking out window rather than looking in.... we had seconds when it came to drinks and apart from hiding from weather, We had a lovely hour or so in Cafe............ It's such a refreshing change to get good old fashioned service........ Actually it's not old fashioned.......... It's refreshing to be given service and treated like a human rather than a grunt and dumping coffee or throwing scone down and snapping the money like I Owe You A Living.....

I had the worst meal in ages tonight. Dried up and overcooked Salmon which was white. All meals looked bland and badly presented. Asked if anything was wrong when I just ate potatoes but just took my plate away when I said it was dry and overcooked. No offer of anything else

Nice wee cafe in Troon and allows dogs which is a bonus. Myself and wife had soup and sandwich combo. Cullen skink was tasty and not overly strong. Tomato and red pepper soup was ok too. I had a prawn wrap which was in hindsight a mistake as came warmed and the prawn sauce just ran all over the place ... could have done with some lettuce or something in the wrap as well. But overall would recommend as the place has a nice feel and as stated in title the service was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely try again. Also the breakfast menu looks good.

Recently visited with my family for a spot of lunch and what a mistake that was.. The very young and very immature staff were unhelpful and we were made to feel more like we were keeping them back from there gossiping or whatever else the children of today get up to, they were untidy and they were dirty.The food was even worse, child 1 got macaroni that had soggy over cooked pasta(who knew pasta was so hard to cook) and tasted very bland most certainly did not taste of cheese, daughters 2 had a cheese toastie and some how they managed to burn the outside to a crisp (but had quite clearly tried to scrape away black) and the cheese inside was still cold and not melted, what kind of cafe can’t even get something as basic as a toastie right.. this is all before my panini even arrived, which after waiting for 10mins after kids were served it finally arrived and guess what it was burnt too but at least the filling was hot.. when I approached to complain the child waitress just looked at me and said ok thanks, not even an apology or an offer of something else..So after this I decided to leave the food on the plates and leave, only to be presented with a bill for the untouched food.. to which I politely stated I would not be paying and left money for the drinks only..Maybe the manager needs to learn quality control and ensure all staff are up to par, maybe even employing a more experienced staff memeber for front and employing someone that can actually cook for the kitchen..Poor quality food and service, won’t be back..

Stay away for takeaway! Visited withy my wife who is 9 months pregnant and we waited 25 minutes for 2 paninis which take around 3 minutes any where else. Paid £12 as well. Very expensive.

first time ever i have written about a place. i have just left The Venice after being served the worst breakfast i have ever had. everything was over cooked, on the verge of burnt, apart from the mushrooms. paid £10 wont be back Andy

We went to this small cafe at the end of lunchtime. My husband had set his heart on loaded nachos with haggis, jalapenos and cheese. Unfortunately they had run out of haggis. As he tried to decide what else to have, the member of staff said, dont worry, I'll just nip over to the butcher's and get some fresh. What more could you ask for. Thank you

I went along to my first meeting of the ABW networking group which was help at The Venice Cafe last night, and although we were told that there would be a little buffet, I was really blown away with the wonderful hot and cold spread that was on offer. Absolutely delicious curries, veg lasagne, salads and chilli con carne. I had eaten before I arrived but I had to taste the food, which was delicious. Diet starts today!Really lovely helpful staff too and I also found out that they organise events and birthday parties upstairs, which has a great layout.This place is a little hidden gem of a restaurant/cafe and I wish them all the best. They certainly put in the work and the new owners deserve to do well. Will certainly be back and can highly recommend

Went to food here this afternoon. The staff was friendly and was seated straight away.

Visited today, arrived at 2pm and no food served until 2.45pm. No one came near us when we sat at a table despite there only being a few tables occupied and 3 waitresses. Ended up fetching menus ourselves, finally orders were taken, quite a wait before drinks arrived and even longer for food. Dead flowers in dirty water decorated the table. We moved these to another empty table as they were putting us off our food. The waitress picked them up when she cleaned the table and put them back. Pity the service was so bad as the food was quite nice when we it finally arrived. We weren't the only ones who were left feeling dissatisfied, the gentleman at the table next to us gave up waiting to be served and approached the waitress to place his order. He had to ask again when his coffee never came. Service put us off returning.

The Venice is one of the best Cafes in this part of Ayrshire they had a good selection of food but recently their variety has got better and better, they are doing some really good specials and on our visit "Cullen Skink" one of the best fish soups going served gluten free and with very good gluten free bread. One of three soups choice , vegan offerings. and a variety of pulled pork and burgers. The cafe does serve decent coffee and with their improved offer I think they are winning goal over the coeliac sin our family. My daughter has been a fan of their smoothies and milkshakes for a while and whilst small we can say it is family friendly and the prices are to.

Popped out with family for a quick coffee in Troon and decided on the Venice Cafe. Even late on a Sunday afternoon it was busy and we managed to get a table at the back on the raised seats. Orders tea, coffee and the kids got smoothies with a wee scone to provide sustenance. All lovely and fantastic service from the waiting staff. I couldn’t help but notice the food being served at the other tables which looked yummy .We’ll be back !!

Previously visited Venice a few times & had good service & good food. However we went in as a family party of 6 on Xmas Eve & I was very disappointed.

Too many tables in a small space, makes it claustrophobic. The service was poor as one young lady was trying to clear tables, set up orders and handle the counter!

You can’t do eggs, you ain’t no restaurant.

Popped in for Hot Chocolate and cake on a cold day and unfortunately we were disappointed. Hot Chocolate was cold/lukewarm and cake was hard. Waitress apologised and quickly re-heated my hot chocolate and offered an alternative cake but we declined that gesture and instead she took the cake (which we didn’t eat) off the bill. All in not great for what is in the main a good cafe in Troon which clearly should be better. Staff were very helpful and accommodating but eats/drinks were a poor show on this occasion.

Visited 09/12 and had a good breakfast and coffee on a cold day!

Popped in for a coffee today following the change of ownership. Staff were very pleasant and customer focused. Coffees were excellent but I did note the advertisements/references to Illy Coffee had been removed from behind the till - although there's still an Illy plaque on the wall outside.

Visited here this morning after a walk at the beach with our 13week old pup. The staff were lovely and friendly. Food cooked fresh, of a high standard and great value. Most importantly for us as new dog owners is that our dog Koda was welcomed like a VIP with a bowl of water and treat. We will definitely be back.

Always go in the Venice usually Sat or Sunday. This is the first time since under new management .price was still the same for the six item breakfast ,but using cheaper ingredients,black pudding etc. Also we asked for scramble egg but got one scrambled and one fried egg.will probably go back to the swan .

So disappointed with our lunch today. Waitress clearly didn't want to be there and the food was quite poor from what I am used to at the Venice. Don't know if it's under new management but I won't be returning. Sorry. To expensive for that quality of food.

Every time we are in Troon meeting up with friends pop into the Venice for a coffee sometimes have food...good food staff are lovely very friendly good service would recommend anyone to go in and try

went to the Venice for breakfast. Ordered French toast and a bacon roll for the wife. Food was excellent, but the service was not very good. Waited nearly half an hour for our food and the café was not busy. In fact a guy who came in 10 minutes after us had a full breakfast served to him before us. The girl who served us was lovely, but the cook must have forgotten about us.

Nice friendly staff. Good tasty food with lots of choice on menu. Seats could have been more comfortable and tables bigger to give you more room. But ok....
