Would not stay here again. Service unpredictable. Some are very good others were not. Waited 40 minutes for breakfast, and the porridge was cold when delivered . The food allergies processes are not good, and the menus are not detailed. Staff, when asked told us to a look at menu. We complained and had to ask each time for the chef to say what dishes suitable .When we explained about cross contamination to the waiting team, we were told they came in separate dishes. There is a clear training need for staff and there should be clear allergies information included on the menu

Just home from a 1st time visit at the Marine Hotel. It was a treat for my daughter and I and it is one we will not forget. We received a very warm welcome from Gordon the Concierge who greeted us with a smile and helped us in with our luggage which was great as we both use walking aids. He set the scene for our break with his caring support, ensuring our room met our needs and speaking highly of the facilitieson offer. The staff who served us in both The Seal and at breakfast in The Rabbit were extremely attentive and again this added to our enjoyment. The young gentleman on duty at the pool both nights was very supportive of my needs and understood my anxiety about trying out the jacuzzi however reassured me he was on hand to help if I required it. Fortunately I managed with my daughter's help, which was a great achievement for me, but I appreciated his assistance. Your staff are a credit to you and given this was the first time we had been at a hotel with a Concierge I do believe that the meeting and greeting by Gordon made us feel welcome and helped us value the experience for what it was, a relaxing break. Please thank him and your staff on my behalf. Tina Milligan & Jennifer McLelland - room 111

Staff are very pleasant this is our 2nd stay the facilities are very good, I thought the room we had was a bit small and TV was to the left of the bed which made it uncomfortable to watch Food in the rabbit was lovely for dinner I had the salmon and sourdough bread for breakfast it could have done with a little butter on the bread as it was quite dry or even a little cream cheese But overall, great value and we will return

My husband and I had Sunday lunch at The Rabbit restaurant and drinks at The Seal bar. We arrived on time for our booking but were kept waiting at the entrance for someone to show us to our table. Not a great start but it all went better from there. We had chosen the Sunday Roast with music booking and had a lovely table for 2 overlooking the golf course and beach. We both had roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and veg. I'm not a huge red meat lover but it was so tender with a flavoursome gravy and perfectly cooked vegetables we both loved it. There was also a chicken and pork option on the menu. We decided to splash out on dessert and were not disappointed. My husband was adventurous and chose the Ayrshire blue cheese with honey cake and celery which he said was amazing.

Came here as a group of 11 to celebrate a 60th birthday. The hotel was great at helping us maintain an element of surprise. I would say that when the wee bar is full then there's not any obvious place to congregate or sit for lunch as a group we did end up going back up to one of our rooms and ordering room service and whilst Stephen was helpful there was a significant 40 minute delay in some of or food arriving with no real acknowledgement of the delay. Though it was rectified within 15 minutes of calling to flag the issue. The room service was not cleared away from the room on the same day instead being cleared by staff at 06.55 the following morning (Sunday) which in my view was unnecessarily early when they knew we'd ordered it at three pm the previous day - anti socially early. The facilities were great, changing rooms were clean, pool was nice. The complimentary squash access was wonderful as we were able to book and play three times over the weekend. The sunday lunch was a highlight and the beef was delicious.

second time here and to be honest not quite as good as last time. we were given a table next to the window which had splendid views across to arran, good start. waitress asked if we would like some bread and butter before our starter "that would be lovely" i said, she went and brought the butter and put it on the table then walked away with the bread, not so good, eventually we caught her eye and asked for our bread "oh do you want some more". we ordered our meal and a bottle of chardonnay [which was excellent] , starter came but no sign of the wine, again had call her over to remind her about wine, it is not as if the restaurant was busy. our meal was good although our main course which i had lamb ribeye and my husband had sirloin could have done with more veg. especially the sirloin steak what was on the plate was 1 tomato 1 medium mushroom and a small quantity of very nice chips , surely you don't need to buy an extra portion for you main meal. will give the restaurant a second chance and report back how we got on .

I was taken there by a friend as a birthday gift to enjoy a relaxing Spa day, which was excellent and everyone should do it. We went into the restaurant for lunch and were not disappointed. On arrival we were met by a smiling member of staff who showed us to our table. We requested a table at the window to look onto the water and this was not a problem. The staff were friendly and attentive as we asked about the menu. We both ordered the haggis starter which arrived quickly and was beautifully presented and a good size portion. In saying that it was not heavy or stodgy, very light infact. We then ordered a chicken dish with mozzarella cheese and turnip. This again was beautifully cooked and presented. The menu is not in the least overpriced especially the wine considering the standard of food and service. I would definitely recommend as a treat and would love to return at some point, just a pity it is so far from home.

Booked an overnight stay for my mum with the pulling factor of dining at Two Fat Ladies - one of my favourite restaurants in Glasgow. Although we couldn't fault the lovely staff or the venue - I hate to admit it but I was very disappointed. There was no wow factor. My starter of smoked chicken and mango was less adventurous than my daily packed lunches, my scallops and black pudding for main were cold. My mum enjoyed her lamb but again - was nothing special. The whiskey sauce to accompany the haggis, neeps and tatties had been overcooked and over reduced. This is not the standard of the Two Fat Ladies I know and love. We didn't stay for dessert or coffees as disappointed with both starter and mains and the dessert menu didn't have choices that were exciting. Gutted as was thoroughly looking forward to this dining experience and left flat.

Our family decided to have a nice meal out for Christmas this year and all met up at Two Fat Ladies at the Marine Hotel in Troon. There were ten of us, all with different tastes, likes, and we only ever all get together at Christmas. I'd read several of the reviews before we went and I wasn't really sure what to expect. I wasn't disappointed. Firstly, the restaurant had a nice serene atmosphere that was evident from the moment we walked through the door, our coats taken, and we were shown to our table. The service was impeccable (I spent several years in food & beverage hotel management and I notice things most people miss). Attention to detail was present through the entire meal. I even noticed one of the waiters serving a second round of drinks wait until a story had been finished before serving the drinks so as not to interrupt. And the food! What can I say, but that it was extraordinary! I had a fishcake to start, the sea bream for my main (which was seasoned perfectly), and creme brulee to finish. We were given a tray of warm mince pies, that were homemade and it was a fantastic finish to a great meal. Even the tea was fabulous. I would most certainly eat there again and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone. Brilliant place for a lovely meal!

Read other reviews and the jury appears to be still out. I can only give my own opinions Lynne booked a birtday surprise for dinner, bed and breakfast.Good choice from the fixed menu.Starters I had the haggis, neeps and tatties. Lynne opted for the patte. No complaints from either of us.Two complimentary glasses of bubbly were part of the deal which Lynne quaffed hank you very much. I stuck to plain iced tap water (yes I am a cheap date).Mains for me was the sea bream which was delicious but the clam ratatouille was suspiciously short of clams and had a strong olive aftertast.Lynne had the beef and scoffed the lot mopping up the sauce with some bread.Service was friendly and efficient.Only just missed out on a top rating because of the clams in my clam ratatouille playing hide and seek with the olives.

My Wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time as paying guests, our previous visit being as an invitation from the hotel to the Opening Taster evening a few years ago.I left the booking late but managed to get a table for two at around 8pm on Saturday evening. Upon arrival the restaurant was quite busy , but not crammed. We were welcomed, had our coats taken and shown to pour table by a very courteous member of staff. Unfortunately from this point forward the service was poor.We ordered 3 courses & Wine from the a la carte menu. The starters were fine (I had soup & my Wife had a Goats Cheese tart). Our first service issue manifested itself in my having to ask for a soup spoon, and only one piece of the bread of my Wifes choice being available. For the Mains we both had Fish. Both dishes were good, if not particularly inspiring. It was part way through the mains that I realised that there was a lot of commission nearby. This turned out to be the changing of the white linen table cloths and what was obviously the waiting staff setting up for breakfast the next morning. I found this particularly off-putting and certainly not something I would expect mid evening. Our plates were slow to be cleared and we eventually received some dessert menus, and eventually our Dessert orders were taken ( I can only assume the waiting staff had clicked into full Breakfast Prep mode by this stage, resulting in a lack of availability for their evening guests). I had to be on my toes once the Desserts arrived, as the staff members made to split (like a banana), as we had not received cutlery. On the basis of service up until this point I was concerned that my Wifes Cheesecake may turn during the proceeding wait.We decided to retire to the bar, only to be told we could not transfer our bill through to the bar and settle upon completion of the evening. All in all a pretty anaemic and disappointing visit, especially as our original visit promised so much more.

I travelled a fair distance to get there after receiving a birthday gift of afternoon tea. I was very disappointed in the outcome. Surroundings are quite quaint but I struggled that the China teacups, plates and saucers didn't match. Maybe I am rather pedantic but it adds to the experience. The food arrived - not sandwiches, but sliced ciabatta bread with minimal filling on bread with green garnish - banoffee bite size cake; with choc cube filled with cream - minimal bite sized meringue and some sort of blueberry bite sized sponge.2 scones - 1 plain and 1 fruit, were very dry and slightly stale asked for mine to be heated which waitress was happy to do but then it came back with solid edges. They were happy to offer a soft drink as I was driving so no wine - and then 'offered' a pot of tea also...this concerned me that the pot of tea appeared not to be a part of the deal initially??Definitely won't rush back or recommend :-(

Some hotel restaurants are really good, some aren't. This one sadly isn't all that. I think the layout of the rooms doesn't help, but the who place lacks atmosphere and fun.The staff are all quite young, friendly enough but a bit aimless and lack training. Is Kir really that exotic? When we eventually got ours, it was both warm and oddly flavoured. They also arrived almost simultaneously with the starters. Its called an aperitif for a reason. The food was decent - not spectacular or adventurous but good. My scallops were plentiful and accurately cooked. Pudding too was good. So, not bad but a bit staid .

Had really nice meals here while we had our overnight stay at the hotel. Service was excellent-both friendly and efficient. There was a good menu choice with some daily specials on offer too. My first impression was that portion sizes looked a little on the small size but having had three courses I felt well satisfied. We stayed on a DB&B basis so our meal was part of a whole package so I can't comment on individual prices for the meal. Breakfast was excellent with a great "cold" selection as well as normal cooked options(waiter/waitress service). This is on of the hardest reviews I've given. All 3 courses were really well cooked and tasty but the overall feel of the restaurant was one of a buffet breakfast type of place more than a Two Fat Ladies. There is loads of staff but they do not appear to have anyone managing the restaurant. You are served by numerous different individuals who are all pleasant and very keen but just don't look like they have received any training whatsoever. We never got asked if we wanted drinks and didn't get our complimentary champagne. We had a day "doon the watter" for our visit to Two Fat Ladies' chain. Very welcoming waiting staff showed us to our seats, and when I said that, on the 'phone to book, I'd suggesteda window table, we were immediately taken to a table for two with an excellent view of the Clyde - and even golfers digging their way out of a bunker. The menu choices were not overly extensive, but there was at least one item in each course which suited us. The portions were not too much, nor Nouvelle Cuisine; just right. Food was cooked perfectly to our taste - my main course of lamb almost melted in my mouth. My starter of H N and T was delicious, and the sweet was quite healthy (for once, for me!). My wife was equally appreciative and enthusiastic of the whole meal and ambience created by helpful, knowledgeable waiting persons who had time, too, for a wee bit "craic".

The menu was so good I had trouble choosing, and I actually had the scotch beef three times during my stay in the Marine Hotel as it was so good - just melt in the mouth! I had three courses each night when I would normally only have two.Very professional staff and service. I would not hesitate to recommend the restaurant.

If your staying in the hotel try it but you need deep pockets. The bar gives more value but limited choice. Better off having a drive into town and trying one of the local pubs that do food. Also if your sitting in the bar be prepared to have to listen to all the golf bores.

Restaurant is a little dated, and service wasn't anything to write home about. Nor was the food. Food was average. A couple in our party of six didn't like their meal at all. They felt the Seafood (shrimp and crab) tasted like it came out of a can. We had two nights in Troon, and chose not to eat here on the second night.

I had lunch here which had been a gift from a relative. I had expected the restaurant to have been done up since it changed to Two Fat Ladies but I did not see much change. The menu for lunch was quite boring but the food was OK.The service was good but I was disappointed. With such a good range of restaurants in Troon I will not be going back

Visited the restaurant while staying at the Marine Hotel The service was amazing, the food was amazing and the views were amazing. I would definitely recommend the Haggis for starter and the Veal Steak was cooked to perfection. Quality all round. Will be back.

Two fat ladies on a bank holiday Friday was a calm and tranquil place. Having adked for a window table and stsying at the Marine for 4 nights we were a tad disappointed to get a view of the car park!! Nice balanced choices on the menu but when they came they were competent but unimpressive. They had 'run out' of dessert wine...what? The service was charming but a bit gauche. We didnt have one waiter but a succession of smiling scottish youths who had to continually ask who had ordered what. Bit of a wadtef opportunity for excellence in this grand old hotel in an unparalled position. Reasonable prices but id rather pay more and be excited!

On a recent trip to Troon we stayed at The Marine Hotel and had a 3 course dinner at this restaurant as part of our package. There was a good selection of choices including meat, fish and vegetarian. My husband chose haggis starter and the beef main whereas I had the ginger fish cake and sea bass. All were presented beautifully and tasted good. Unfortunately for me the fish accompaniment had a lot of pepper and onion which doesn't agree with me so I had to leave some of it. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious to finish off the meal.We also had afternoon tea here the following day, which was great. A few too many with cream though for my taste buds.Staff were all polite and eager to please but could perhaps be more knowledgeable about the dishes they are serving.

My wife, my daughter and I had a lazy Saturday lunch overlooking the Royal Troon golf course from the restaurant at the Marine Hotel which is now under the auspices of the Two Fat Ladies group. Everything about the experience was first class. The menu and wine list give the diner a very good choice and the ambiance and the staff were top notch. Nothing too pricey either!! A special thank you to Kevin and Aaron who looked after us very well. We like to take our time over a meal and there was no rush at all. Highly recommended and a place we will visit again shortly

Bought a 5pm £29 champagne lunch deal for me & my husband really looking forward to the experience. Surroundings felt very dated and clinical haggis, keeps & tatties starter tasted watery. Main courses much better, desserts average. Table service okay but felt a bit rushed. We had purchased a bottle of wine & desserts, settled our bill at the table left a tip as standard only to then be stopped at the restaurant exit by a severe looking Vicky who asked can I check your table has been cleared, asked our name then I assume she checked we had paid before she then said that's fine and we were dismissed...not what I would expect after spending £100 for lunch and won't be back or recommend to all our friends & colleagues who have asked us to let them know what our experience was like.

The food here was nice - a good step up on previous visits to the restaurant here. Its clear that everything is made with fresh, good produce. The portions weren't too large and we were offered some great homemade onion bread while we waited for our starters to arrive. Whilst the food was good, it didn't leave me with the really great feeling i have after eating at the buttery or shandon belle. I'm not sure if this because the restaurant itself hasn't managed to achieve the atmosphere you usually get when visiting other two fat ladies restaurants. The decor, while clean and pleasant, doesn't really make you feel you're anywhere special-it's a little bit 'meh.' With the exception of the view out onto the golf course, however, which is lovely. The staff were very friendly but unfortunately the service was slow. We had to wait a good long while for our drinks to arrive and for our dessert order to be taken. We also had to wait a while for the bill to be squared up. As a few of us had other commitments following lunch, it did begin to feel like we were continually trying to catch the wait staffs attention.....Simply put, it's just missing that something extra you expect from Two Fat Ladies. It's definitely worth a visit - like i said the food is good - but i'd like to find a bit more of a buzz in the place and a faster service.

Having eaten at Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery and in Glasgow City centre I expected similar very high standards of food and service at The Marine, however I was sadly very disappointed. The food was quite bland and the service poor. In fact on the evening we ate there a party of three American gentlemen after ordering their main course were presented with only two meals! After asking two of the waiting staff where the third meal was and not receiving a satisfactory explanation ( or a meal! ) they asked to speak to the manager. About 10 minutes later the " manager " approached their table to ask if there was a problem!!! She obviously had not been told about the "missing " food! Eventually the meal was served about 20 minutes later. At breakfast next morning our cooked food was brought to the table before we had finished our cereal and fruit! This also happened at other tables. Poor attention to detail.

Great staff and great food. I went because it was dog friendly while I was working away from home and needed somewhere I could take the dog. Really really good food, not just standard pub food but actual quality offerings. I had seared tuna steak one night which I highly recommend, chicken supreme another night and a burger the other night I was there and it was all top quality. Brilliant friendly staff as well. I went midweek each time so it was relatively quiet, but good music at a good volume and a great selection of beers if you're a drinker.

What a wonderful shop and cafe the hub of the local community. The manger Alex and Young worker Becca are fabulous such excellent customer service. I'm currently walking the entire UK coast path solo for the RNLI with my Big agnes tent Aggie since July 4th over 7,600 walked and I am staying at a campsite nearby yo rest a sore ankle. Wow I arrived and was treated like a local welcomed in offered coffee and cake. The atmosphere was heartwarming everyone happy picking up provisions hot food or stopping by for a chat. A lost dog was found and kept amd cuddled by a staff member till the happy owner arrived to claim his doggy ❤️ fully recommend this wonderful place. Thank yoy manager Alex 5 star .

We live between Deeside and Dorset and rarely in Ayrshire but down for wedding and decided to go to Scott’s as knew the owners through business over 20 years ago when they just had a couple of places & heard a lot about their massive success . Honestly , we couldn’t fault it and … we eat out a lot . From a genuinely lovely welcome from Beth to excellent service from all the staff ( Isabelle was particularly charming & efficient ) - wonderful choice of menu , terrific cuisine and good value for money …. With a charming view . Some people look to find fault wherever they go but , we genuinely found Scott’s faultless ( inc toilets , decor etc etc ) . Absolutely SUPERB - 10/10- well be back and Soon 🥂

We visited for brunch this week, it took a long time to get service. When we did order we had a lengthy wait for the food. The food arrived and it was mediocre, the eggs were over cooked and lukewarm warm. We have eaten here before and the food was good but a big disappointment this visit.
