The best restaurants in Scottish Borders Lowlands

Lovely, cozy bar. Great chicken leek, mushroom cassarole. Must have been half a chicken in it, delicious. Starter tomatoe soup, enough for two, delicious. Great service.

Got a cheeseburger which had a green tinge to it. My partner had pancakes with cream and maple syrup and asked to have no cream. When the pancakes came there’s was a lot of cream on the pancakes. Apart from not getting what we asked for the pancakes were ok but were definitely not made there.

We ordered a takeaway afternoon tea for three for Mother’s Day and were not disappointed with the amazing selection we received for a very reasonable price. Everything was very fresh and tasty, from the finger sandwiches to the homemade quiche and sausage rolls, the macarons, tiny cakes and scones with jam. Displayed on my folding afternoon tea platter it certainly looked the part for a wonderful Mother’s Day afternoon celebration whilst staying at the nearby Castleview Holiday Lodges at Lauder.

We have had several meals at the Carfraemill in the past few months and they were all excellent. The service is friendly and helpful and the portions are very generous and the prices are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend!

Attended the "Carvery" for Sunday Tea. and was really pleased with the quality of the food and service. It was busy but service was quick and efficient and the staff very attentive and friendly. We will definitely go back again.

The best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Cooked to order and perfection. The gravy was delicious too. Owner was lovely too

Had an amazing lunch. Had the baked camembert sharing platter and the ham & lentil soup. So much flavour and quality. A great tearooms.

Such a lovely place. Beside the river. Lovely walk along it. Beautiful cashmere to admire( even if admiring is all you can afford!). Really nice staff. Interesting displays of original machinery. Home baking. Lovely coffee.

Sadly now seem to be closed. Unfortunately the Main Street of Jedburgh offers nothing in the way of dog friendly cafes... the only town in our trip across central Scotland to have that issue.

Having read some earlier reviews I was a little apprehensive but can assure prospective customers that the poor reviews are really not justified .Yes the menu choice was small but the three of us had different main courses and we agreed all were delicious. Luckily my wife's haddock and chips was too large a portion so I had to help her finish it. What a hardship! Nice crisp batter and triple cooked chips. Service was adequate, if a little slow, but we were not in a hurry. Nice ambience and reasonably priced.

Took my wee dog in about 11.15 am , exceptionally welcoming staff found us a great table - and even lent me their glasses to read the menu as I had forgotten mine 👍🏼 Squeezed me onto the breakfast menu which was about to stop , gave my dog biscuits and were all round great hosts. Breakfast mix was superb , a lovely spread of neatly sized , hot and fresh mushrooms, eggs , beans , avocado mash, tattie scone and whole meal toast.

A very welcoming atmosphere, heat staff who were very dog friendly. Food was good and would recommend the restaurant and beer!

Came here for breakfast, both had full Scottish. Really nicely presented and very tasty. Helpful staff. Clean, nice environment. Good value.
