Eden Coffee House in Scottish Borders

Took my wee dog in about 11.15 am , exceptionally welcoming staff found us a great table - and even lent me their glasses to read the menu as I had forgotten mine 👍🏼 Squeezed me onto the breakfast menu which was about to stop , gave my dog biscuits and were all round great hosts. Breakfast mix was superb , a lovely spread of neatly sized , hot and fresh mushrooms, eggs , beans , avocado mash, tattie scone and whole meal toast.

Habe eine Pause auf meiner Fahrradtour in diesem Café gemacht um mich aufzuwärmen und zu trocknen. Die Gastfreundachaft war aussergewöhnlich, vielen Dank noch einmal für die Hilfe beim Trocknen meiner Jacke! Das Brot mit Avocado war ausgezeichnet und auch der Kuchen.

What a find this place was for us! Our son had his settling in days at nursery nearby so my partner and I decided to take our minds off it all by enjoying breakfast here together, not once but twice one week apart. This was the second time we went (the first time was excellent as well!) and I had the smashed avocado on toast with added bacon and my partner had the eggs florentine with added avocado. Both dishes were delicious and you could tell that the ingredients were well sourced. The gentleman that served us was very warm and welcoming, as was the staff member a week prior. The coffee is fantastic and if you're looking for a large then that's what you get! My large coffee was very generous and even the milk pouring dish was lovely and thoughtful. We are planning to go back again in a couple of days and we overheard the couple sitting nearby us saying the same. The atmosphere, the food and the service were second to none. We loved both our visits and look forward to our next!

This place absolutely made our visit to Melrose. Breakfast was so good that we booked immediately for the last day of our trip. Beautifully presented delicious food, polite, accommodating staff, and a great buzz. The second time we went, we chatted to a gentleman who I assume was the owner, a delightful man, and he even found a my wallet, which I'd dropped in the car park without realising. Legend. Don't miss it.

We had our lunch in here during a stop with Rabbies tours. We were so pleased with the food and service. Very good prices and extremely tasty food. Definitely worth a visit

Fantastic food, friendly, helpful staff who were only too pleased to provide us with ‘tourist information’ too ! Do not bypass this lovely bistro.

Absolutely superb, there were 4 of us for lunch today and I have to say it was delicious, I had the tempura prawns with extra sides , and honestly it really was lovely, we all enjoyed our lunch thankyou.

Very pleasant lunch with my wife today with great coffee and a very good Ciabatta sandwich. I had a Haggis and mushroom Ciabatta which was fresh and full of flavour and my wife had the eggs Benedict and we shared a side of their seasoned fries. All in all a very nice experience with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

Gorgeous food, made really welcome and my dog Harley was too! Service was fast and friendly. Lovely cafe environment, busy with locals too, really liked it will return.

Absolutely fantastic cafe in melrose, me and my boyfriend took a mate here for breakfast and we were pleasantly welcomed by a lovely manager and a nice waitress. We got our table straight away and ordered within 10 minutes, food was great, service was amazing and lovely staff 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a nice place for food, coffee or cakes !! I love coming here, the staff are aways welcoming and accommodating, the food is excellent and the tables are kept clean. A friend and I were here for our vegan Christmas lunch- full of flavour, fresh and delicious! Thank you Eden Team, we will be back!

Who would’ve thought that we will find the best Cafe we ever been in Melrose, Scotland ? Just by coincidence whilst in a tour we came in this place looking for something to eat. The place, the service and OMG the food is just great!! To top it up they have the most accommodating menu I’ve seen, they got a normal menu, a gluten-free and a dairy-free, and also it is dog-friendly, even have an small section in the menu for then. It was so great that we felt the absolute need to tell them to keep doing whatever they doing as they are the best Cafe we’ve ever been in. Thank you Eden! Hoping to come back whenever we return in Scotland.

Ate at the Eden coffee house in August 23 and thought it wad quite good. Visited today 23/11/23, the menu had changed and so had the quality if the food. Cheese ham and tomato on brown bread for me and chilli chutney tomato on brown bread from the vegetarian option for my wife. Coffee was great but sandwiches were bland and tasteless. After the first bite we looked at one another and agreed that the sandwiches were poor. The bread resembled something mass produced in the 1970's. (If anyone can remember wonder loaf, soft cotton wool like and lacking substance.) Cheese was processed thinly sliced and plastic like and the tomato....Well it was red, but utterly tasteless. Absolutely no reaction from the staff other than they would pass on our comments. Don't think we'll be going back, and on today's experience certainly wouldn't recommend it. In fact my advice would be try somewhere else.

This lovely cafe welcomes customers with open arms. We have been here many times over the years and the food is consistently excellent. Their soups are delicious and the staff( namely India and Simon plus all others) are attentive and professional. We sat in front of a lovely fire with our large German shepherd dog and relaxed as we had a break from our walk. Keep up the good work!

We called in by chance for a bite of lunch as we were staying at the nearby caravan park. We had a lovely lunch. Smashed avocado and poached egg and the soup of the day with a cheese scone, which was delicious and warm. The guy who served us was very pleasant and even gave our two dogs a treat each. They were more than happy for us to move to the table next to the log burning fire when it became free. The only thing that would have improved our visit would maybe have been a little background music. Otherwise it's somewhere we would recommend and will call in again when we stop at Melrose.
