We make a special visit from Edinburgh to this Restaurant 5/6 times per year, the food is very good although expensive. I ordered and paid for Fish & Chips and Greek Salad with Keish ? for my Wife, with our drinks.£32.00 The young Man came to our Table to advise there was no Keish ? left. My Wife re-selected Greek Salad with Prawns & a portion of chips I was asked to go to the Counter with the Young Man to adjust the order and was asked to pay 95p difference between the cost of the Prawns against the cost of the Keish ? which I did The food was delivered to our table my Fish & Chips arriving first, my Wife advised that I start my meal while it was hot. My Wife's meal arrived and She was enjoying the Greek Salad but there was no Prawns. I was asked to go to the counter to pay for Prawns which had been omitted, I refused and my Wife had some of the salad, the meal was spoiled for her. No Prawns were offered. This spoiled our visit & our day out! She Managed to spend a further £35. in their shop. No more visits to this venue, complaint very badly handled.

Lovely lunchtime treat after our visit to Floors Castle. We spotted The Terrace Cafe when we visited the beautiful walled garden and had a quick view of the menu before we ventured down to the castle, which is only a 10 min walk away and we had parked the car at the gardens anyway, so one we would be back. Upon entering the cafe, we were greeted warmly and asked if we wanted to sit outside as it was a warm sunny day. With a view like the walled garden, we were pleased we did as the view was lovely and each table had a parasol to protect us from the sun. We could smell the Wisteria, which was absolutely stunning. We both ordered the lamb burgers, which were really tasty and the chips - wow. I decided to take the fennel coleslaw out of the burger as it was delicious with the chips. I couldn’t resist one of the tasty looking cakes and had the lemon & coconut cake recommended by a guide at the castle. This was delish but pleased we shared a slice as I don’t think I could have managed a full piece! Highly recommended place to dine.

This hotel has lots of cosy, quirky corners as well as an impressive larger dining room. We were here for Sunday lunch (note - this menu differs from other days) and were presented with a reasonable choice of well priced mains. Everyone's food was lovely (the roast beef was cooked superbly) - generous portions and beautifully presented. However there was no mention of small portion options which many places now offer - one of the group struggled to even eat even half of the meal (and sadly couldn't even consider dessert) so while the food was lovely, it would have been nice to have had more appropriate options for folk with smaller appetites without wasting food.

Visited this pub more than once this week. Nice friendly landlady and staff. Cheap bar prices. Very small bar but there are seats outside at the front, which is a bit of a suntrap, or in the large beer garden at the back. Locals chatty and helpful. Thankfully dogs not allowed in the bar as a couple of dogs in the very small bar space would be accident waiting to happen. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

We enjoyed a great dinnere here! Service was mostly very young people which is nice to see. They were all lovely, polite and friendly. For a starter we went with chicken & ham terrine which was nicely seasoned and went really well with the tarragon mayonaise. As a main we had sizzling steak (peppercorn sauce was incredible) and lamb 3 ways - delicious! Tender meat, rich gravy, nicely roasted carrot. For pudding we enjoyed the lemon tart acompanied by super tangy lemon sorbet and chocolate mousse! Definitely worth a visit if you're around.

Great food indeed, very good quality friendly staff, only downside it did take a while. Ham hock starter was to die for and the steak was perfection. The dessert certainly hit the spot. Certainly what you need after a long day in the saddle.

A group of 10 including children, parents and grandparents had the most fantastic evening. We were given one of the dining rooms to ourselves, and the setup was perfect. Comfortable chairs, the highest quality table cloths, cutlery, and glasses. The scene was set for a great evening! We started with drinks which included a fine Rioja for the more discerning of us, and some fine ales, which were thoroughly enjoyed. The children and drivers also had a fabulous range of soft drinks to choose from. Whilst consuming the aforementioned beverages, we perused the excellent menu. Lots of fresh local produce, and lots of interesting options. The staff proceeded to take our orders. You will not find a more warm, helpful, professional team anywhere else. We were very well looked after. Starters ranged from seafood, to brie, and the sensational venison and salami with caramelised onions and olives: wow! The mains didn't disappoint either. Mussels in white wine sauce was a big hit, as were the pork medallions, the chicken, the duck, the mighty Wheatsheaf Burger, and the fish and chips for the kids. We didn't think there would be room for a 3rd course, but it was just irresistible! An incredible selection of ice creams were available, but no chocolate sauce ---- well, that is what we thought. How wrong we were. Michael, The Proprietor, headed off to the kitchen and prepared a chocolate sauce to the children's delight! The Easter cheesecake was enjoyed as was the excellent cheeseboard (which was the perfect accompaniment to a 2nd Rioja!). But there's more! Two of our party had travelled from far afield, one of whom had a penchant for sticky toffee pudding which was not on the menu that evening. The delightful Jo who had looked after us so well all evening, had a chat with The Chef (Jean) who was more than happy to make our guest's own personal sticky toffee pudding. The perfect way to end a perfect evening! Everything was perfect, even the bill at the end, which was very good value for both the quality of the food, and the service. If you haven't visited yet: then you are missing this gem of The Scottish Borders.

Very disappointed! Food came to the table and friends was wrong, did half pizza and half pasta with a friend and it came there was literally about 4 bits of pasta and 1 prawn. Pizza did come and it was wrong but then we sent it back and got new one but then that came burnt which i was starving by this point as the tiny pasta portion did not fill me up in any way. I have had pasta before and this was never the case it was aways full and 6 prawns for the pasta which it should be 3 prawns each. Sadly wont be back as this has put me off as it is an expensive place and the experience was not what i expected :(
