Visited this pub more than once this week. Nice friendly landlady and staff. Cheap bar prices. Very small bar but there are seats outside at the front, which is a bit of a suntrap, or in the large beer garden at the back. Locals chatty and helpful. Thankfully dogs not allowed in the bar as a couple of dogs in the very small bar space would be accident waiting to happen. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Not dog friendly despite having a beer garden so didn't go in. Our dog comes with us on holiday so we only give dog friendly pubs our custom.

Big sign at the door saying dogs are not allowed in the building….. Up to the landlord but I certainly won’t be giving them my custom.

Give it a miss, shown into a grim snug / dartroom, food poor, lasagne is mince and pasta sheets. Tasteless. and all the cursing and swearing from the adjoining bar is easily heard, although the sign in the hall says you can take children in. Wouldn't recommend.

Tried The Anchor for a meal. One person serving in bar and taking car of "restaurant". Were shown into a dark and dingy room which resembled an old fashioned parlour room. Waited an absolute age before being asked if we were ready to order. Wasn't impressed with the home made lasagne - very dry and no bechemel sauce which part and parcel of lasagne. Would not recommend and will not be returning there any time soon.

Average food, old fashioned pub. We didn’t return after our first experience whilst on holiday. There was a small separate room for the restaurant, we were the only people in there. The bar was separate and did seem to be quite busy.

On holiday at St Abbs, this was a great place for Sunday Roast. Have been to the other pub in Coldingham previously but tried this partly cos the restaurant is on the level. Great meal and even did a small option for Mum. Beef was very tender and Mum said the pork was the best she had had! Also loved the rhubarb and raspberry crumble. Friendly folks, even gave me lessons on how to fold the origami napkins - I asked :)

Popped in one evening for food and a couple of beers whilst staying in Coldingham, friendly staff with an adequate menu. Food was freshly cooked and piping hot and tasty. Would drop back in when we are in the area again.

My friend & i stopped off here on Monday & Tuesday for drinks, while out walking her dog. We sat outside the front of the pub & watched the world go by. On Tuesday we were asked if we wanted to sit in the back beer garden, which we accepted. It is a huge area with lots of benches, bird tables (with food), dog bowls, a childs bike & a couple of scooters! There was plenty of space where children could play wirhout annoying the adults at the benches. The staff were friendly and came to ask if we had found the water bowls for the dog to get a drink too. Two glasses of white wine were £7, so reasonable priced too. We could have sat here in the sun all day 😊 will definitely be back!

Lovely quaint little pub in the village on Coldingham. Family friendly- children had a lovely meal followed by an ice cream which they loved. The gentleman who served us was brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely toasties and chips for lunch. Will definitely be back again next time we’re up in Coldingham.

Visited this quaint pub yesterday, the dining room is like stepping into your grannies living room, however this adds to the ambience! Food superb both my wife and I chose the chicken curry with half chips & half rice which was really tasty! Kids both demolished theirs to be treated with an ice cream cone with sprinkles which had them grinning ear to ear. Will visit again... Definitely.

Had a meal and really enjoyed it. Two of us had the fish and chips which was delicious. Staff very friendly. Pub very old fashioned and in need of updating but in a way that added to the charm. Would definitely visit again.

No airs and graces to this pub but a friendly welcome and basic pub food served in a separate room (children welcome). Fairly good choice of food to suit all tastes.

As previously mentioned, there is not much to chose from in Coldingham but I’d try somewhere else. Popped in for evening meal with some friends. Shown into restaurant. Felt like we were caught in a time warp and was visiting my great-granny’s. Ordered steak pie and chicken curry. Friends felt curry not homemade but said it was “quite nice” while steak from pie was lovely - melt in the mouth. Couldn’t cut through pastry unfortunately. Good portion sizes tho. Didn’t stay for dessert. Staff cheery and friendly but that’s not enough to make us return. Sorry!

Service was good and food came on time but can't say it was anything special, just your average frozen chips and lasagne was ok....:/

Not an area of Scotland where there is a lot of competition but it was perfectly adequate. Looks rather quainter than it is but in the absence of choice we had a nice enough meal.

Bad food, from Iceland, from frozen. Not good, insipid. Bland, not fresh, not home made. Avoid at all costs.

This was an unexpected delight. An old fashioned pub with photos and decor that made you feel like you had gone back in time with fond culinary memories to match. I really enjoyed my meal here. Homemade using local produce, the food was tasty and unpretentious. The best bit was the puddings - jam roly poly and custard being a highlight for me taking me back to my childhood. Courteous and efficient service. Reasonable prices that you don't often see for that quality of food. Nostalgic and unpretentious. A pub with integrity.

Menu prices more or less same as others nearby, despite down market pubby style. Too expensive, considering social type of footfall.

Spotted the pub signs and the exterior looks appealing with the old village cross just across the way and plenty of free parking nearby at the priory. The usual range of food - but no real ales in casks. The restaurant is small and cosy with an open fire and lots of local photographs, many of 'The Anchor' in Victorian times. We were served quickly by the barman and clearly it's a happy place as the laughter from the kitchen added to the good atmosphere in this traditional eaterie.

I have to say this was a Sunday lunch and we well 2 of us had a starter of prawn cocktail then roast beef dinner which I have to say we both thoroughly enjoyed would say if you were in Coldingham go and get the Sunday roast which is really great value. Our partners both decided not to have the Sunday lunch and one had the mini mixed grill, I would have hated to see the large mixed grill what he had was amazing and humongous, and finally the next meal was chicken curry with half and half , rice and chips which too was delicious and extremely filling. I would recommend here too for lunch

I'm afraid I won't be back. Went to use the facilities and I went into toilets and heard giggling didn't hang around but imagine my dismay when 2 of your cleaners came out of said toilets doing up trousers and straightening themselves up!. Absoloutley disgusting. I've the names of both. To say I'm appalled is an understatement. I came in to shop not witness sex acts. In uniform at the workplace! I'll be informing my friends and family. If this is how you allow your staff to behave! Disgusting if my daughter had been with me and saw that I'd have rang the polis straight away!

First time visit to the lovely Peebles and after a morning walk around, I needed a nice lunch and somewhere to hook up to Wi-Fi and send some emails etc. This place was perfect for what I needed. Prompt and warm service (thanks, Reece!), great little spot and one I will return to 😊. Thanks County team!!
