Lovely as expected from a Belhaven pub

Probably the best place I've visited to eat in a while, they have a mobile app to order from and the staff regularly check on your table, the food quality is great for pub food and I will be returning in the near future

Nice pub, atmosphere and staff. Food good for price, however Steak pie, nice but a bit too salty. Love the dog biscuit and water station. Came back again today and had lovely comfortable table by fire.Some board games available so enjoyed game of uno. Great seat with dog who enjoyed a sausage from the doggy menu. Food great for the price although again my pulled Mushroom stroganoff a bit too salty. Nice staff. Family thoroughly enjoyed mixed grill too,

First time visit to the lovely Peebles and after a morning walk around, I needed a nice lunch and somewhere to hook up to Wi-Fi and send some emails etc. This place was perfect for what I needed. Prompt and warm service (thanks, Reece!), great little spot and one I will return to 😊. Thanks County team!!

May look nice on photos but definitely not a place to stop if travelling from our of town. Landlord refused to serve a latte at 9pm, unless you wanted expresso And apparently the crisps were for display only. Definitely made an out of towner feel like they were trespassing and small. Plenty of other fantastic and acommodating places to rest nearby , but if you're looking for the words warm and welcome, bypass this place

Discusting customer service. A genuine kind hearted guy doing a charity walk to raise awareness for the homeless and was made to feel most unwelcome and wouldn’t even let him order a coffee last 9pm. What a crock. Should be ashamed. Even after the guy told you what he was doing (a 590mike round trip on foot wild camping the whole way for charity )you couldn’t care or even acknowledge his efforts. Let’s hope you loose your business and end up same way. You’ll soon understand it’s nice to be nice.

Lovely place , however very much spoilt by the landlord. Recently visited by a young man clearly on a charity walk , not looking for freebies, but hoping for common decency. This owner doesn't have none Demeaning , belittling and no customer services . Thankfully the customers visiting there were welcoming and accepting. Wouldn't go there again . Disappointing and unnecessary .

Dreadful customer service from the owner. A guy who is a hero that has been walking for 2 weeks doing it all for charity for the homeless was treated with no respect. After having a few drink in there in the evening he was then refused a coffee as they don’t do coffee after 9pm but was happy to do him an expresso. The guy is doing a 500+ mile round trip on foot and wild camping the whole way and when mentioned what he was doing to the owner he didn’t show any respect. Hopefully he never finds himself in a bad situation. What an awful guy.

Great food, lovely service. Already recommended it to a friend going down to Peebles this week. Only thing I didn't like was the background music but it wasn't so loud that it was distracting. Also they have a dog menu!

Went on a Sunday at 1.30 No Sunday dinners left. Ordered from main menu and the food was spot on. Only complaint is it took a long time to get table when it wasn't busy, quality of food made up for the 40 minutes wait. Definitely come back

I really liked this place. It had a great atmosphere with plenty of different seating arrangements which gave it an intimate feel .

Called in for some lunch, went for 2 x lunch specials, 1x hot honey hallouimi wrap and 1x hot hallouimi chabatta with drinks good value at £8.49 each. Nice staff, checked if meals were OK, nice pleasant atmosphere when we were there, dog friendly. We did have one small issue, we had to purchase one of the drinks extra as there was a problem with the till not accepting the offer advertised on the menu (coffee), not a big deal but something they should have been able to resolve, would it put me off returning, no. Overall a good value, nice meal served by friendly staff.

Here is a traditional pub on Peebles High Street. Inside there a few nooks and crannies and a separate area called the library.  There a number of options for sitting - either on stools, comfy chairs or sofas.  The upholstery is a bit jaded/frayed on a few chairs/stools.  There are a fair number of TV screens for sports fans. On our visit they were all showing past games and were on mute and music was being played. There is a good selection of draught beers and a menu offering a range of eating options. We had lunch (Hunters' Chicken and Scampi) and found both were good, standard pub grub and well priced. Service was good and friendly though it felt like I waited longer for my dessert than my main!

Went in for the afternoon and early evening Sat 26th with friends. Kris was incredibly helpful, sorted a table for the 6 of us and was a great host throughout our time there. Good selection of drinks and big screens for the football too 👌

Cute little pub that has excellent food and atmosphere. My husband and I stopped in for a pint and lunch while visiting Peebles for the day. The staff is friendly, beer is cold, and food is tasty.

Kris was an excellent barman, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome on our trip from ‘up north’ (Fife and East Kilbride 😂). Kris was super helpful booking us a table, and even went the extra mile getting us in straws and likes (for tequila) out his own pocket. Would definitely visit again. What a class place!

A pub/sport-bar that has a surprisingly good numbers of tasty vegetarian and kid options. Well worth the stop if passing by. They are kid friendly and dog friendly. The services and food was very timely. Though we hit it on a quiet Monday night. Parking is a bit limited along the high street… don’t have any recommendations except maybe give them a call.

Absolutely charming.... Food huge choice & tasted great, massive drinks choice, The two ladies Courtney & Rachel were unfazed by the enormity of how many people were needing served... They continued being polite, sympathetic acknowledging people, smiled throughout, hard to do when waiting people are putting pressure on to be serviced. Great front of house staff...

Terrible. They did not book our table even though it was confirmed. The staff did not understand what cross-contamination was. The vegan food was terrible. After paying they then told our guests there mixed grills could not be completed and had to be part substituted. It was a hour wait for food. When it was all served it was terrible. A totoal embarrassment we just ate and left I would not recommend this place its terrible dirty and has terrible service and food.

I was in today with my girlfriend , the soup was lovely the haggis fritters and lentil soup were lovely to, my nachos were nice to , however the fish and chips my gf ordered were an absolute disgrace, so much so the fish was half a fish burnt and soggy in the middle, 12 chips also, the fish and chips alone were almost 13 quid. I felt for the staff, run of their feet doing everything, but please do not insult the public by charging what you charge for fish n chips, ihave been coming to the county for years from edinburgh, are you new owners, or is it the greene king thing , some people judge a place on their last experience, if that fish is anything to go by, it will be our last, i know for a fact the complaints about the fish n very little chips will have been many today, we saw people being served the same burnt fish as we left. Sort it or the place as an eatery will dwindle .

Lovely meal portions of small plates are very large. Think my eyes were too big. Food was lovely though.

Point deduction for waiting. 30 mins till food arrived. That said, very busy. No wonder as meals ( small plates) were delicious and well presented. Katsu curry really good. Staff very friendly. Atmosphere very relaxed and warm. Blue light card accepted readily. Will be back soon.

Visited Peebles and ended up in The County for something to eat. As it was Thursday (steak day) I had a lovely Sirloin steak cooked to perfection, my wife had Macaroni with garlic bread which she enjoyed very much.

Food was excellent 👌 my partner said the gammon was the best he had had in a long time, my halloumi wrap with honey was delicious, also the salt and pepper chicken with katsu sauce.. definitely recommend.

Came as a group of 12 after golf. Food was very good, quick and tasty. Bar staff and staff were excellent, nothing too much trouble

Waited an age for food then sent it back as it was luke warm. So disappointed as it should be better than this. Clearly short staffed too. Just not good.

We visited here for some food and drinks, we weren't disappointed. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and the service was first class. Good variety of food choice and drinks. The staff are so friendly, very welcoming and accommodating. Would definitely visit here In The future. Good value for money also.

Of the many places I ate at throughout my trip, this was hands down the best! They were super busy with a 45 minute wait for food late in the evening, but well worth it. Fun staff, fun customers, great atmosphere, excellent food & drink! Bathrooms are up stairs and through doors...use them before you've had too much to drink! Dog friendly!

Came here during a short, nearby holiday. We actually came 2 days in a row because of the lovely atmosphere. Having a 3 year old means we like a table in a corner away from others where possible and this suited us perfectly. The first trip there was excellent, and the food was great, especially for a fussy wee one! The second time it seemed like they were understaffed, and unfortunately they didn't come out with ice cream for our daughter after a long wait so we left, but luckily there's an ice cream place directly across the road, so disappointment and tantrums averted! These things happen though, and the staff were otherwise great, and friendly.

Ordered two bbq chicken and cheese panins from the Menu. When they came the paninis had definetly been under the grill to long. We should have sent them back but mentioned at end of meal to waiter. Was dissapointed by his respone and lack of customer service. Will not be eating there again.

If there was a 0 star rating option then I would definitely choose it. Decided to visit this place to have food after a 5 hour car journey, to have what we thought an amazing meal. Well I was definitely wrong. Started off when ordering starters. We specifically asked for a side dish to be brought over with our mains, however it arrived along with our starters. Obviously not life changing, but still slightly inconvenient. Additionally, we waited over an hour for our mains to come, even though the place was pretty much empty, which we were soon to find out why. The first main we ordered was a halloumi pitta bread, which was more like gloomy pitta bread as it was harder than a brick and looked like someone had vomited on it. The second main was a “honey chicken burger”, but I guess I had mistaken it for a plate of salt with a side of burger, as it looked like it had an entire bottle of salt poured on top of my meal, which was sickening to look at, never mind eat. The third main was fish and chips. The batter was crusty and the fish looked as if the was caught in the Anglo Saxon period. After reviewing the state of our “food”, we decided it would be best to not end up being sick later that evening, so ended up finding somewhere else to eat. The waitress was very apologetic, and it’s understood that it was not her fault, however as I said above, we arrived after a 5 hour car journey so we were starving and just wanted food, so this was very frustrating as we then had to find another place to eat at 8pm. The waitress asked if we would like a refund, which was accepted however we only got half of, and then after questioning why, they were apparently “unable to issue a refund”. Maybe the till is as old as the fish? Will definitely not be returning in the future and would not recommend to anyone that enjoys not being sick after their food.

Has the cost of living gone too far? I visited the County Inn in Peebles on Sunday 21st July 2024 with a friend for a late lunch. I ordered the Beyond Meat Burger for £10.69 which is supposed to come with “skin on fries” and a portion of onion rings according to the menu. When the food arrived there was a scant portion of around 6-8 standard oven chips scattered thinly across the large oval plate and the onion rings were absent. When I enquired about the onion rings the waiter brought me a while enamel oven dish with a grand total of 2 onion rings, one of them regular sized and another tiny one the size of a 10p coin. I could not believe that food service standards have slipped so low that 2 onion rings and 6 chips counts as one adult-sized portion. I would not even count that as a child-sized portion. What will be next, charging to breathe the air inside the pub? I work in the local tourism industry and will not be dining here again nor recommending the place to my guests. The management should seriously think about their pricing, portion sizes and whether they can still run a viable business when they can only offer meagre portion sizes that would not fill the stomach of a baby.

Brilliant pub live music was good but too loud

Really nice place for a munch (and probably a pint or 2 as well). Friendly and welcoming staff and the tables were nice and clean, which is always a good sign. We stopped off on a Sunday afternoon for some lunch and were definitely not disappointed. My wife got the beef pie with chips, veg and gravy and loved every single morsel. Really great quality beef and she said the gravy was exceptionally good. I went for the salt and pepper chicken strips with chips, grilled veg and katsu sauce which was also phenomenal. Both servings were very generous considering they were only ~£10 each! Will definitely be back!

Was in for lunch today (Wednesday the 12th of June) just about bang on 12 noon when they opened. The lady who served us was great! She was friendly and very efficient too taking orders, running the food and checking back to make sure everything was alright with all the guests. A big step up since last time I visited a year or so ago with the nice addition of the pool table room at the back too. Katsu curry was great as always at Greeneking pubs. Keep up the good work guys will visit again next time I am in town!

This is a corporate (Belhaven) Pub but one that I liked. Great beer selecton, friendly bartenders and a good setting for such a large pub. Did not try the food.

Lovely pub/restaurant in the heart of Peebles. Main restaurant is wheelchair accessible and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was really nice and good value for money. Will definetly go back when next in Peebles.

Nipped in with my wife for a bite to eat and a pint. Served by Reece who was very friendly and prompt with everything. Ended up having an issue with the Greene King App which he resolved for me very quickly. Meal and drinks were absolutely delicious!! 10/10 on customer service and meal quality! Very happy (and refreshed!!!).

Have been waiting for 2 hours for my food, absolutely ridiculous. seriously understaffed very slow with serving people. RAGING.

Nice looking place and food is okay (when they actually have what you want to order), but that’s about all it’s got going for it. Every single time I’ve been here, there’s been issues. Either they don’t have stock (like when they didn’t have Jamesons on the very day they advertised the Jamesons promo on facebook) or the staff is rude (one specific guy comes to mind). Service is incredibly slow at times causing us to cancel our order and leave because we waited over 15 minutes for a drink and seeing other people getting their drinks immediately after ordering. I’m disappointed EVERY single time I come here.

Sat outside yesterday and had coffee in the sun, staff were friendly and funny too! Thanks again for the nice coffee and a seat in the sun at the front of the hotel, nice for bikers as plenty seats outside and on street parking.

We went to The County on Friday. They were short staffed and Sam the barman was covering all bases at speed. He did very well. Our turning point came when Ivana arrived. She was absolutely amazing and served us so well. The food was delicious and very reasonable. We enjoyed our time at The County. Well done to Ivana and Sam for their excellent service.

Bought the vegan katsu curry and it was amazing! Portions were massive and the prices were good. My meal and pint of lemonade came to about £12.50 which I believe was well worth it!

Visit most weeks . The county Inn has a nice atmosphere. Staff are welcoming and friendly . Great pub to be in when any sports fixtures are on . Good menu choices . Chicken wings are great .

Fast friendly service from Ebonie. Good food, well priced. Definitely worth popping in if you're looking for a drink or meal.

Had the misfortune to visit here today when in Peebles on business. Almost everything I asked for , no matter how basic, wasn’t in the menu. Nice pint but left to go elsewhere

If I could give it a zero I would. Worst meal I have ever had. My kids were horrified at the burger, burnt ,tiny and the bun fell apart, obviously had been frozen. We waited an hour for it too Just awful! The bad review is also for the staff, as after we complained we watched them laughing in the kitchen .

My husband and myself took a trip to Peebles to have a little meal for my upcoming birthday. We had the sharing staters of chicken wings and chicken strips then I had the chicken burger and my husband had the cheese and bacon burger. Food was delicious, fresh and hot. Will 100% be back. The chef Thomas cooks the best meals! Highly recommend to everyone.

Went in for Sunday roast you could tell they were frozen potatoes and Yorkshire pud, beef overdone not served pink as advertised. Didn’t accept my blue light card even though this is advertised outside and inside. Bar staff sour. Bit of a shame as it’s a nice space. However we appreciated the small selection of board games and being dog friendly.

Had a lovely lunch on Monday 18/03/24. The food was fantastic, good portion sizes (my step mum actually said her Katsu curry was too big a portion!). My father and I had Scampi, chips & peas which was beautiful. Much better than places like wetherspoons. The gentleman who served us was very friendly and polite. I will definitely be going back again!!!
