Giacopazzi's in Scottish Borders

Wonderful fish and chips fried in the traditional way, with lard. Completely different from the "cippies" you usually find around. the breading is very light and very little greasy, this is due to the cooking in lard. Must try!!!!

Giacopazzi’s and Oblo’s Bar And Bistro, is a wonderful modern spot in the center of eyemouth Just next to the docks. Lit up with bright lights and a welcoming group of staff, this little spot in the middle of a quiet town lights up with laughter, smiles and happy faces. The food is incredible, and has only improved since i first moved here. I have autism so struggle in certain environments, but here is very friendly so i feel very safe here.

Very disappointed tonight having to write this. After our full family being loyal customers for years our experience tonight was absolutely horrific. My two year old daughter was a bit upset and the manager came over to the table asked us to keep the noise down as they had other customers or we would be asked to leave. As any parent knows it’s not as easy as that with kids at terrible twos , the manager was highly ignorant and totally unprofessional. Never have I had service like that in any restaurant in my life , absolutely awful. Very disappointed after having such a good experience the past 12 years.

Excellent service considering there was a queue out the door. We were really happy with our takeaway meal, which we ate across the road on the seated area. I work in the food industry myself and it can be hard to work under pressure with customers waiting. The team that were working behind the counter were doing their absolute best. Also, their ice creams are as good as the fish n chips, 10 out of 10

Avoid. Tried to order at 6.20 and was rudely told that "no orders were being taken " . I understand they are busy but being polite to customers costs nothing. Needless to say didn't wait and certainly won't be back.

Visited this place many times. It has always been very good. Had a sit down fish and chips today and was slightly disappointed. Batter and the chips were perfect. Unfortunately there was not a great deal of fish inside the batter. Service was promp but slow on getting the bill. Not the best.

Helpful staff and very clean place. Pizzas were good. However, the chips was definitely not great - not freshly cut and it was tasting of overused oil, that was not recently replaced , the aftertaste was not nice at all. Ice cream next door was delisious!

Under staffed long queue on inclement Sunday afternoon, pricey outside tables not cleared or cleaned. Incredible number of people simply using toilet facilities without using the cafe. Local youth using outdoor tables to eat fish and chips. Nice cafe could use attention.

Popped in today for a box of chips they had just been cooked fresh. Hot 🔥 and drenched in broon sauce awesome. Our yearly gravitation to Eyemouth and a revisit to Giacopazzi's. We had a cappuccino, then a good walk about for a few hours building up our appetite for our fish 🐟 tea 🍵 😀. Sadly, we didn't enjoy or finish our fish tea. The fish was fresh and flakie, but the soggy thick batter let the whole experience down. The outside was somewhat crispy, but the inside resembled a sponge 🧽. Heavy, oily, and not digestible.......upside staff were welcoming, friendly and polite.

Sunday evening: The reviews looked good so we thought we'd try them. Cracking fish & chips! Perfect crispy batter & perfect crispy chips went down well with chilled wine. Tuesday evening: our last night in Eyemouth we decided on another fish supper. Enormous tasty fish but sadly the batter let it down. Instead of the wonderful crispy, crunchy batter it was soggy with raw batter inside, impossible to pick up. I had to open it up & scrape away the raw batter from the fish. Disappointing, which is the norm? Soggy or crispy? Maybe because it was a different person frying?

Best Chippy in East Lothian area(well not that far) Clean, clean, clean, excellent staff beautiful chips & haggis, sorry I'm allergic to Haddock and no Cod available. Certainly the tastiest fry I've tasted, not greasy not too dry. I'll certainly go back for more!!!! Well done everyone, P. Fish was okay, not £10 value. Overcooked and expected more. The staff were unfriendly and looked a bit peed of at something. Took over 15 minutes when I was the only one in. Was going to get ice cream today but I will not go back. Avoid this place!!

Delicious vegetarian pizza. Smooth and friendly service. Nice decoration, a bit retro, but that fits with the Sicilian origins. Limited dessert menu, without sundaes but you can choose individual ice cream scoops - good for the line (small) but tasty.

I have been coming here for fish and chips for over 30 years.my daughter will only eat fish and chips from here. We drive all the way down for fish and chip and ice cream.coming this Sunday.

Pizzas were really nice and having both gluten and diary free options is fantastic. Only downside was the miserable woman taking the orders, no manners no friendliness just made us feel like an inconvenience to her.

Came to Eyemouth for a little holiday, saw this fish and chip shop near the harbour, queues were large for it so we had to try! - It was a lovely meal, fish and chips were perfect. Didn’t realise until we came out they had the most lovely ice cream parlour as well, perfect pudding :)

We had enjoyed Giacopazzi's ice cream many times at the Inn we stay in, so decided on a drive out to the gelateria in Eyemouth. Excellent choice available.

We reserved a table after seeing how busy it was. Decor is nice and the restaurant was clean and fresh. Lovely staff members. Good menu, plenty of choice and decent prices. Glad to see smaller portions available as I struggle with the often huge portions of fish and chips. Food was very good. Freshly made, hot and tasty. Good service throughout. Would recommend.

Portions are huge, you order the food inside then wait outside and approach the window when your name is called. There’s seating across the road beside the harbour. We did wait about twenty minutes but the wait was well worth it, best fish supper ever.

Nice friendly service and lovely food. We visited Eyemouth for the day and looked up where the best fish and chips spot was, this one seamed to fit the bill. Best fish and chips I've had from for a while and certainly the best I've had since visiting haggerston castle and surrounding areas over the last week. The kids enjoyed battered sausage and chips and also Ice cream for afters. Plenty of outside seating, Mixed with the normal Scottish hospitality and smiley service. All in all great experience.

We had been out for the day and had looked up giocapazzis on our way back. It said online sit in was open until 7pm. So we arrived to find a queue outside. My husband went in to ask was it the queue for takeaway or sit in, whilst I stood in the queue. He had explained to those at the front if the queue that he wanted to ask the staff a question so the people at the front were more than happy to let him. The female staff member consistently ignored him, did not make eye contact, even if she had said be with you in a minute or there's a queue, but she deliberately ignored him. It wasn't until a customer said to my husband on you go. Finally my husband asked the question about sitting in and she oh the takeaway is too busy so we aren't taking anybody in. 10 minutes of wasted time time. So we went over to the ship inn and had a lovely meal instead. I would have thought a simple sign on their stand outside would have been a way to communicate things better. I am giving 3 stars only because the staff in the ice cream part were so good. Pity it wasn't the same in both parts. Ice cream was also lovely and we only did that cos we get giocapazzis back home so the reputation had gone before it.

Haddock chips and Mushy peas, Haddock was mostly batter, and was rock hard along with the chips, found several bones in the Haddock too

Disgusting , everything tasted of oil, chips had no potato inside and the fish was all hard batter with dry flakey fish inside..not worth the 45 min wait

Best fish and chips in the country, hands down. We have tried many fish and chips shops up and down this land, and this place has the best balance of flavour, texture, and value for money. The battered haddock is very generously portioned with a deliciously savoury and crispy batter. The fish is perfectly soft and flakey, never overcooked. The chips are an amazing accompaniment with their own burst of potatoey umami. Whenever we drive by on the A1 we make sure to stop by for a bite. Cannot recommend this place any more strongly!!

So.... my friend and I went there the other day (tuesday. went in and first of all it was 11:10 and the women said ooo sorry we don't open till 11:30 Total respect for that they have a time to open and that was totally fine. So we left and then came back after 11:30. We were greeted by a women who just stared at us and then I was like "please may we have a table for 2" then she goes "mhm" grabs 2 menus and says "BTW just making sure that you aren't coming in here just to each chips because we have big family's that come in here and spend lots of money" my freind said "oh ok sorry." Then the women said "And! We are very busy today so you can't stay long" for the record NOBODY was inside except us and the workers. Then I was putting my drink into my pocket because I got it from the coop earlier and was gonna drink the rest later and the women goes "oh! We serve drinks here so don't think about drinking that here" I told her I wouldn't. since she was so rude to us my friend said to her "can we just get 2 takeaway chips then" and she was so very happy that we got a takraway but what shocked me is that how rudely she spoke to us and offered 2 elderly people 2bolls of chips saying "the usual?" And was nice to them. The food was lovley and i normally go there if I'm going out with my friends in eyemouth but that was my first bad experience sadley didn't get the womens name but it s all ok.i do recommend

Massive queue but when I got that half fish supper which was huge, perfect crispy batter it was delicious & worth the wait. Eat it at the outside seating area across the road. Even though they were very busy the staff were very polite

Fish and chips was hot and crispy but the curry sauce was prepared in tubs under a heat lamp and wasn’t as hot as it should be. It was busy so a long wait but that was expected but be good if there was a bench at outside waiting window for anyone who needed it.

Waited in a huge queue on a Thursday night… seriously questioned my sanity …. Omg the best and that is saying something….. the BEST fish supper I have ever had!!!! And homemade tartar sauce…. Sanity saved —- diet not so……

As someone who had a trail shift in this establishment, I would not suggest eating! If you value the people serving you your meal, you would not eat here! The way other front of house and the fish fryers treat you is absolutely shocking. The fish has bones throughout and many customers complained about waiting times as they run things from the kitchen as well as the fryer, which made the kitchen staff angry and often caused heated tension within the kitchen and front of house members. Just a shambles of an establishment. DO NOT let your kids go here for a job.

Stood around for 15 minutes before being asked "can I help you?" by a very miserable and abrupt member of staff. It seemed the inconvenience of customers is very annoying for some people. The place wasn't very busy and I did notice two families who were waiting to be seated,leave.

I would love to write nice and good things, but we waited 10 minutes to get a table in the not very busy place. Then another 10 minutes passed before we got the menu. After that, since no one spoke to us and we sat in the smell of fried fish and were very hungry, we went to the restaurant opposite, which was nicer, better and cleaner.

2 x Fish and chips (one was gluten free) Chips were nice. Fish was ok, batter was pretty oily. And tasted a bit old as well.

This was our first visit here, and it won't be the last. The gelato was in a class of its own. The choice was extensive, and the presentation was excellent. We had the Godfather, a dessert that's made for sharing. Tried the canolli's, and they were superb. Staff were very polite and efficient.

Very bad fish and chips. Opened the takeaway box and there was a pool of oil at the bottom of the box. Fish not good quality, batter crispy but tasteless and chips of very poor quality. We had eaten there before and had great fish and chips which is why we returned today but we will never return.

Visited on a very wet and cold March day. Pitty don't allow dogs . We had a take away and sat in the car. I had the white pudding super and curry sauce,which was delicious.

Just a quick stop over but really enjoyed the staff were very helpful.

We all had fish suppers and sat outside on the benches with tables. Hubby had an enormous slice of fish with breadcrumbs which was crispy. Me and the Son had the tiddler, a smaller potion which is still generous. The batter was bubbly and crispy.

Probably the best delicious fish and chips in the world! Great ice cream too. Plus a range of interesting food options. We’ve been going for years and it just gets better. They’ve made a super stylish makeover of the premises. Very nice staff even when it’s rammed with hungry customers. It’s a great location right in the Harbour area, you can eat your tasty fish looking at the vessels in the working harbour. Long may it prosper.

We are in holiday in eyemouth and we have had both fish and chips and pizza asa takeaway from this amazing place! The service has been great, friendly and helpful. The food...wow the food! I have coeliac disease and very much enjoyed cheesy chips and last night I had a gluten free pizza in their stone fired pizza oven. OH MY GOODNESS the best pizza I have had since being diagnosed in 2005! If you're a coeliac coming to eyemouth please try this place for it's pizza!!!!

I come here regularly, fish & chips are great but I usually come here for the amazing ice creams! Went last night for ice cream taking a considerable detour but the ice cream parlour was closed! Had dinner there anyway, really nice

Extortionate - £5 for a large chips - not really a large just a tray of chips. Tourists will pay it but for locals surely this is too much . Only one chippy in Eyemouth now so they have all of the business.

First visit since moving to the area and it was hugely disappointing. Front of house staff were dreadful, goodness knows where they’d dragged them in from. Food was fine but the extras you get by sitting in weren’t worth bothering with: warm white wine and tartare sauce that was more like mayonnaise. Brave the queues and get takeaway instead.

Visited Giacopazzi's for the fourth time. previous three times was excellent fish was excellent and chips were freshly cooked and very tasty. Service was also excellent. Last visit fish was very good but the chips were not fresh, greasy and overcooked and less of them. Service was not great. Big comedown from last visit.

Travelled from selkirk and really enjoyed the so fresh haddock and chips,ample sized portions too,restaurant is nice and clean,service prompt and polite waitress,toilets were spotless on leaving,thankyou!! 10/10

Terrible service. Arrived at 12.30pm for lunch with my two young daughters. Asked for a table - first waitress just walked away, no acknowledgement. Second waitress appeared and simply stated "There will be a wait" which was strange as there were plenty of empty tables and the book showed one reservation which the waitress checked. She asked how many the table was for and again stated "there will be a wait". I asked how long and she abruptly said "don't know". No attempt to help, explain, apologise or anything. So we promptly left, have never been spoken to so rudely when trying to buy lunch! Saw a large group on the way in and advised them to look elsewhere, so not just my custom was lost today

Quiet visit, servers were both a little difficult to hear over the ambient noise. Servings between servers were inconsistent in size, recognisably so. Ice cream was good otherwise. Queue handling could do with a rework as ice cream is served before anything else, and separately, so if you go in for a drink, then it might take a few minutes in busy periods for a server to direct you to a different till.

Difficult day.. Husband and I, with a 2 year old and a 5 year old.. We picked up a prescription from Kelso at 6pm, needed a chemist that would dispense so we had to travel from Kelso to Berwick to Tesco Pharmacy to get the medicines for our 2 year old. We decided at this point, having had no dinner to go to our favourite place in Eyemouth, arrived 10 mins past 7pm and they were cleaning all up. I was hoping they were making a quick exception but no one would even look at me standing at the glass, tapping on the window. I have to conclude despite my loyalty to them they are not so loyal to me when i needed them. I had to settle for McDonald's on the way home at the end of a disappointing evening! Probably we wont be back and we'll go to Mackays' in the future..

Lovely fresh haddock and chips. Would be nice if they offered triple cooked chips as an option. Good portion of tartar sauce as well. We went on Wednesday evening so it wasn't busy but interior clean and well maintained.

Take away orders are one at a time!!!!! Took ages to get my order placed, then another age to get the food. Never have I been to a chip shop that only cooks as its ordered. What a joke. Lots of annoyed people. Things need to change.

We go to Giacopazzi's on our annual visit to Eyemouth and it can be hit or miss in terms of service. We visited again in October and couldn't fault it. Food was very nice and the service was great. We rang and booked a table the night before and also ordered the make your own pizza kit for our daughter. The food is a little bit expensive compared to local fish and chip shops but it is a restaurant so it is to be expected. I was worried that with the loss of Mackay's in the area the quality and service of Giacopazzis would suffer due to not having any competition but I am glad to say this is not the case.

Called to Giacopazzi's as we were on holiday in the area. Food and Service was fantastic. Would highly recommend. Food is a little higher in price but it is a restaurant so to be expected.
