Oh my the lemon cake is to die for. Outstandingly good! We enjoyed coffee and cake outside in the sunshine.

This cafe-cinema-theatre truly is a great benefit to the town of Hawick making use of a superbly renovated historic mill building sitting over the Slitrig river with great views over the water and town. A glass balcony hovers over the water and makes an unusual and popular place for a coffee and snack at the end of the High Street. The staff are delightful and very friendly. The menu offers light meals and drinks and the venue is a good meeting place.

Stopped for a coffee here. Had a table overlooking the river. Lots of space over two floors and obviously very popular as it was busy and buzzy. Good coffee - will visit again.

Do not take children of any age in after 8.30pm as you will be asked to leave. I was told (the same as a friend) that the time to leave was 10 pm by other members of staff here. I had been told on Monday nights that kids were welcome to stay and watch the bands as it was a restaurant, not a bar. So we decided to go and support it but were asked to leave. Hardly had time to finish our drinks. Families on holiday beware!!

There are three buildings/attractions within Heart of Hawick and the towerhouse is the museum. It's free entry and spread over 3 floors delves into the history of the textile industry in Hawick. Modern interpretation, hands-on displays and plenty for children to do including find the soft sheep toys.

With an abundance of Cafe's to choose from in Hawick we chose this one because it had a big poster on the door stating 'dogs are welcome' we went through to the seats overlooking the river and sat and relaxed, we had our coffee and was just waiting for our food. A lady then came over and told us abruptly that we couldn't sit there and we had to move, I asked which tables we could sit on, we were told the only the tables at the front of the café, there were 2 of them, so if 2 dogs are in the café you have no where to sit.I asked the lady why there weren't any signs explaining to dog owners where they can sit, to save the utter embarrassment of being up-ended mid lunch to the other end of the café. Her response was ' there are signs on the tables you can sit on' it transpires there are round paper coasters on these 2 tables that say dogs welcome at these tables, which is great if your already sat at them tables. The coffee was alright, nothing special, id like to tell you how the food was but they got that entirely wrong also, I asked if they did 'sausage rolls', I was told 'of course, I said ' I couldn't see them on your menu, you definitely have sausage rolls?' 'yes, I was told. after a 15 minute wait and being kicked to the other side of the café, a bread roll with 2 link sausages turned up, they couldn't even get a sausage roll right. We left our food and coffee and left.We wont be back, don't advertise your a dog friendly café when your not.

We had lunch on a dull & chilly day in Hawick, and were not disappointed. We can recommend the veggie sandwich. VERY tasty!

Parts of the outside don’t look that inviting but the cafe is nice inside and had a cool overhanging glass extension over the river. Hot dogs were good, and we had some unexpected musicians performing some classical music which was really nice.

Just what I needed - hot soup and a roll on a cold day. And live music thrown in as a bonus. All at a very reasonable price.

We arrived mid/late afternoon. So many shops were empty which always lowers ones impression of a town. But the rushing water of the river beneath the bridge attracted attention, and then we noticed the cantelever addition to the old mill building - and people were eating and drinking in there.

We came across this venue on our first day in Scotland which corresponded with a little music festival. The little bit we saw of the festival was entertaining.

The Borders Textile Towerhouse should be an individual “what to do” inclusion on TripAdvisor, instead of just part of the Heart of Hawick entry.

Went in for coffee and it was nice. Could do with more staff but didn’t need to wait too long for someone to appear - they were delivering an order to a table. Sat overlooking the Slitrig river which was scenic. I would go back again for coffee, not tried the food but it looked ok

The Heart of Hawick has had a revamp since we were in the Borders last. It looks very cosy, but when we ordered pizzas were were in for a shock: all the more interesting pizzas had disappeared from the menu. Only four remained, including pepperoni and Marguerita, which were not appealing.

We visit Hawick on a regular basis and tended to come here for a pizza (when you can get it) and bottle of wine each time we are in the area. We visited today and I was shocked to see the price of a pizza increase from £5.50 to £8.00. On top of this they didn't have any more in stock anyway. All items on the menu appear to have had a substantial increase for some reason. I appreciate they are fresh but I'd guess around 60% of our visits we have gone elsewhere because they had sold out. Today it was only 1pm and there were none left. This isn't a restaurant, it's a licensed coffee shop so to place that sort of price increase on a pizza puts the establishment now in competition with an Italian restaurant. I think I will just be heading to a restaurant in future.

This place has just been revamped and so has the menu and it is dire!! Pizza has increased over 50% in cost with 50% less topping than used to. There is now very little selection on the menu and it seems everything has been streamlined to an inch of its life!! Come on Beanscene what used to be a great place for a visit and a blether has lost its appeal to locals please re take a look at the menu selection and bring back the old favourites, such as chillies and nachos at a cost to suit local residents who visit EVERY week and not the pander to the tourism market!!

We tend to eat in the café on Monday nights, when String Theory is on. Usually, we'll have a pizza, but the paninis are nice too. The coffees are really good and the cakes are scrumtious! Staff are working hard, but they still have time to listen to your questions.
