Awful. I was hoping for a nice hearty meal, I ended up with two revolting starters and a very badly mixed cocktail. This place puts the “T” in Ship.

Enjoyed two evening bar-food-style meals here. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. Although it looks like a pub, this is more of a restaurant and has a good range of dining choices, so it isn't truly 'pub grub'. Very tasty. Large portions. Excellent value. There are a range of eating places in Eyemouth. The fact we visited here twice speaks for itself.

Having gone to Berwick for the day and our daughter not having been to Scotland we popped over the boarder with her and came across Eyemouth almost at tea time. We had a wander on the beach, watched the seals in the harbour and then came here. Luckily it was warm enough to eat outside but the bar area although small is dog friendly. The food was really good and not too expensive. Local ales and decent choice at the bar. Lovely location right by the harbour. Staff were friendly too. A very lovely dining experience.

May 2024: I visited here for an evening meal with my family. Great first impressions - the venue looks nice, great location and very clean and tidy. Also got a lovely welcome from the staff member who showed us to the table. The food was absolutely incredible, the steak pie was one of the best I've ever had. Portion size is generous too! Also highly recommend the haggis bon bons for starter. The interior decor in the toilet area is a sight to behold - if you've seen it, you'll know what I mean! Only downside to our visit was the pace that the staff operated at. They were constantly darting between tables, gathering plates from multiple tables at a time and very quick to serve/clear up. The (very) fast pace just slightly overpowered what would be a nice chilled and relaxed atmosphere. That being said, the food was amazing and for the price/portion size, I would highly recommend and will be back in the future.

Four of us ate here, passing through the town for a night’s stay. Having been told that the inside was full, and that we’d have to eat outside (it was spitting with rain), we waited 15 minutes and tried again with a different server, and found that inside there were now several open tables: more experienced staff might have said “we’ve got a table coming up soon, would you like a drink at the bar”. Now seated, two of us ordered fish and chips, only for the server to realise half way back to the kitchen that they had run out. So we chose the “Steak ‘n real ale” pie: this was a curious concoction, as the beef was bland and a tad dry, yet the gravy was distinctly salty: presumably the two elements were assembled late in the process. The puff pastry top was good though. The Macaroni cheese was certainly cheesy, and served in a decent quantity. Scampi too was OK. The chips were good. For drinks, the glass of white was OK, but no more. Belhaven’s “Best” bitter is said in the brewer’s blurb to be “a sweet malty beer bursting with notes of toffee and caramel”), but this pint was disappointingly flavourless and thin: if that’s truly their best, this is one beer to pass by. We didn’t worry about desserts as we’d spotted an Italian ice cream shop just down the road. A little over-priced for what it actually was (£16 each main dish), this was average pub food, but no more than that.

Decent place. Food was good overall, though seafood linguine lacked much flavour in the noodles. The chorizo special was good. Haggis Bon Bon’s were tasty and well presented. Menu is a bit confusing, with a nautical theme, yet the sea bread was not at all sea-based. Beer selection was basic, nothing really ‘crafty’ when compared to other places these days, but fine - the Ice Breaker was solid. Good, friendly service. Decor is clean and modern, but a bit soulless. This isn’t a cosy, welcoming place you might expect from the outside, but more modern in the Ikea-vibe of things. A bit of a miss, perhaps. Good but not great for the price.

We came on Wednesday when they offered two pies for £20. We both had steak pie, fish pie was also available. As it was a special offer I lowered expectations but this was a mistake. The pie had poppy seeds in the pastry lid which were extremely delicious. The pie had a bottom as well as a top. The meat was plentiful and succulent. The chips were delicious and there was a lovely selection of vegetables none of which were overcooked. They were piping hot but still had good bite to them, as it should be. The portion was extremely generous. I was glad that I didn't have a starter and there was no room for dessert. The member of staff was rushed of her feet but still very attentive. I feel bad as I didn't state that I wanted to leave a tip before our transaction went through. I will be returning with a double tip as everything about our experience was tip top. It didn't do any harm that they were serving my favourite beer. Jarl by Fyne Ales. I can't wait to come back!

We were staying next door at the Crown Inn to attend a wedding in the area however commencement of their lunch service was leaving us tight for time so we popped in here instead in the knowledge we’d get a decent snack. The stairs may be a challenge for the less able however it’s worth the effort as the produce served is very good. We both ordered quiche which was served with salad, coleslaw, crisps and a Balsamic dressing (£6.50). I’m not usually too keen on Balsamic however I used some from the small pot provided separately and it turned out to be fine. The quiche itself was very good. We had coffee (£3) and tea (£2.80) which were very good too but since we were a bit pushed for time we had tray bakes as takeaway - Millionaire Shortbread for my wife and a slice of Aero Mint for myself. Both priced at £3.50 they went down well with a coffee the following day when we were back home! Service on this occasion by the two young females serving was pleasant and efficient. Overall cost for lunch was a reasonable £25.80.
