Like another recent reviewer, a very disappointing fish and chip supper. Average quality fish with greasy batter and frankly awful, soft chips. Not helped by being served under the fish so soaking up the grease. This is not a tricky dish to get right and given the location it should be a dead cert (particularly at £17.50. Lovely service though.

Efficient and friendly service. However, the fish and chips were not good. The fries were soggy and greasy. Following our complaint, we were kindly served a second portion, equally inedible. The fish fillet was too greasy for my taste and my experience with this dish. Too bad. The haggis sweets, however, were very good. The steak pie as well.

We had been here before and enjoyed our visit. But unfortunately, today we left disappointed. Bar lady didn't seem to have any awareness of what was happening, only my wife and I in the bar area eating, and the music was overpowering, my wife had to stand outside to take an important phone call, even after 2 strong hints about the music. She didn't get what was happening, but wanted to know if we wanted dessert 😏. When we paid the bill, it had a fish donation on the bill, when asked why it was there, we were told you can ask not to donate. I feel this should have been made clear up front, not after after the event. Very bad practice, be warned ⚠️

FOOD The food was great, the fish 'n' chips were AMAZING, the soup was great, the kids menu was good and the steak pie was Delicious!!! STAFF The staff were polite and smiley ☺️. ATMOSPHERE I like that there are 2 parts of the cafe: Bar and Restaurant. And even though we didn't book we got a place, the waitors told us it will be long wait as it is busy but it wasn't after all!! All the sings/ names of the dishes were in style and funny. CONCLUSION I would say it is a really great place with reasonable prices (the portions are big). TIP Please book because in the busy times there might be no spaces left.

We have been and eaten in many places around the UK and Europe. The last time in Scotland we ended up in some snide curry house in Nairn. The ship was a whole different story, its food is fresh, wholesome and provides a different perspective to the usual ‘Gastro Pub Grub’. Our food was spot on and Eyemouth has certainly got a little gem here. The prices are very reasonable also, compared to our home city of Liverpool and certainly the other city in the NW, Manchester. Congratulations, and we will be back.

Enjoyed two evening bar-food-style meals here. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. Although it looks like a pub, this is more of a restaurant and has a good range of dining choices, so it isn't truly 'pub grub'. Very tasty. Large portions. Excellent value. May 2024: I visited here for an evening meal with my family. Great first impressions - the venue looks nice, great location and very clean and tidy. Also got a lovely welcome from the staff member who showed us to the table. The food was absolutely incredible, the steak pie was one of the best I've ever had. Portion size is generous too! Also highly recommend the haggis bon bons for starter. The interior decor in the toilet area is a sight to behold - if you've seen it, you'll know what I mean! Only downside to our visit was the pace that the staff operated at. They were constantly darting between tables, gathering plates from multiple tables at a time and very quick to serve/clear up. The (very) fast pace just slightly overpowered what would be a nice chilled and relaxed atmosphere. That being said, the food was amazing and for the price/portion size, I would highly recommend and will be back in the future.

Four of us ate here, passing through the town for a night’s stay. Having been told that the inside was full, and that we’d have to eat outside (it was spitting with rain), we waited 15 minutes and tried again with a different server, and found that inside there were now several open tables: more experienced staff might have said “we’ve got a table coming up soon, would you like a drink at the bar”. Now seated, two of us ordered fish and chips, only for the server to realise half way back to the kitchen that they had run out. So we chose the “Steak ‘n real ale” pie: this was a curious concoction, as the beef was bland and a tad dry, yet the gravy was distinctly salty: presumably the two elements were assembled late in the process. The puff pastry top was good though. The Macaroni cheese was certainly cheesy, and served in a decent quantity. Scampi too was OK. The chips were good. For drinks, the glass of white was OK, but no more. Belhaven’s “Best” bitter is said in the brewer’s blurb to be “a sweet malty beer bursting with notes of toffee and caramel”), but this pint was disappointingly flavourless and thin: if that’s truly their best, this is one beer to pass by. We didn’t worry about desserts as we’d spotted an Italian ice cream shop just down the road. A little over-priced for what it actually was (£16 each main dish), this was average pub food, but no more than that.

Decent place. Food was good overall, though seafood linguine lacked much flavour in the noodles. The chorizo special was good. Haggis Bon Bon’s were tasty and well presented. Menu is a bit confusing, with a nautical theme, yet the sea bread was not at all sea-based. Beer selection was basic, nothing really ‘crafty’ when compared to other places these days, but fine - the Ice Breaker was solid. Good, friendly service. Decor is clean and modern, but a bit soulless. This isn’t a cosy, welcoming place you might expect from the outside, but more modern in the Ikea-vibe of things. A bit of a miss, perhaps. Good but not great for the price.

We have eaten here in the past and it was lovely. Tonight we encountered a lazy menu seafoods linguine advertised the catch of the day we were fobbed off with the catch of the day was just tiger prawns highly unlikely and an insult. Just call it that her prawn linguine and stop misrepresenting. The rest of the menu was limited and basic. I think complacency has taken over hopefully now this will change now Eyemouth has other eating options like the auld bank, tavern and contented sole.

Called in here for fish and chips. There is seating, but we opted for a takeaway. It was cooked freshly to order. I believe they use beef dripping ( the proper old fashioned way to cook fish and chips) They were the nicest fish and chips I’ve eaten. The flavour and texture of the chips was lovely. I don’t usually each much of the actual batter on the fish, but this batter was the lightest, finest, crispiest batter I have ever tasted, so happily ate it all. The meals were delicious …..would highly recommend . The staff were lovely too!

I have stayed here on numerous occasions recently due to work commitments. Both Curt & Susie are fabulous hosts & I can not recommend this hotel enough. The rooms are modern, comfortable & clean. The honesty bar is amazing & comfortable to chill in, along with the turntables playing vinyl which I loved. I want to keep it all to myself so I can stay when I want , but that would be selfish of me. Congratulations to this lovely family running an amazing hotel where they are nothing but kind , courteous & look after their guests. Best hotel I have ever stayed in & can't wait to visit again in 2025 & catch up.
