Nice atmosphere, lovely interior with paintings and such. Friendly and accommodating staff, dog friendly too! Not much to hate and no complaints from me. We had local haddock and chips as well as chicken with haggis in the middle and both tasted nice and good portions for value. Limited non-alcoholic drinks but lots of alcohol to choose from. 10/10 would recommend 😌

We stayed here twice in a week, Sunday and Thursday. We were doing a trip of Scotland on out motorbikes. So firstly, there is a hard standing next to the rear entrance that we used, on a Sunday it can be busy until locals leave but you will get parked. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bar is nice with a fire going and a nice pint. (I had a red wine though at £7!) Others said the food was nice for dinner. Breakfast was outstanding though. The gent making and serving it is the previous owner and the produce was not only top notch but cooked perfect. Amazing haggis and black pudding. Rooms.. Ok so room 3 was nice enough, (a twin) did the job, very small shower that did feel to small but got the job done. Plenty of tea and coffee so a drink on arrival and a couple in the morning, Bed very comfy, slept great. Thursday was in room 5, an apparent upgrade even though I asked for a double, but this was a much larger room. Sky box and tv, oddly to the left but still good to have. Bed was comfy again. I didn't mention the issues we had on booking com as wanted to see if they would reply, but haven't so I will now highlight them here. Thursday, after a long ride from the north we really wanted a shower, No Hot Water. Popped to the bar and the lady was helpful to boost the boiler. Still no hot water. The shower oddly was cold to, most are self heating. We tried the shower in the communal bathroom but also cold. They gave us keys to room 3 that worked previous, (noone else staying) also cold.. baffled we boiled the kettle and had a sink wash and went down to the bar. It turns out a friend of the owner (who is in Canada) was in the bar and heard us tell the bar lady about the issue. He said "i think they are waiting for oil" At breakfast sure enough we were told the oil will have arrived but noone bled the boiler. The poor guy doing breakfast having to try put it all right. Had someone called him he may have known to fix it. The place really could be awesome if the owner puts some care into it instead of letting someone do it all as a favour.

A little louder than our usual choice with a very lively atmosphere. However, the service was incredible, even catering for some special requests for a picky eater! The food itself was incredible too! Limited menu but every item on it was perfect. The scampi, battered haddock and steak pie are definitely recommendations from us. Henry the pub dog is really friendly too, even with our own dog!

I had no hesitation, in planning a surprise birthday lunch for my wife, in booking at our local community Inn. We know the quality of the food and the service. For this visit, however, I asked for more. The team were wonderful in preparing the room, and the two young staff members who looked after us were excellent - and the food was as good as we expected. Thank you to everyone. I cannot commend the Wareloo Arms too highly.

We happened upon this pub during our week long stay in Chirnside in October. So glad we did. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious. We booked a table for Sunday lunch, a huge roast lunch served all afternoon with all the trimmings and then went for curry on Wednesday evening. They do a curry night every Wed and also offer a takeaway service too. Again all delicious. There is a fire lit on cooler evenings and the place is used as a pub for a drink and a blether not just for meals. There's a separate dining room too but we enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar area. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

We was in room 3. Bed was very comfortable. As we lied down to rest our weary heads it was like putting a glass to your ear. Everything from the bar could be heard well until early hours of the morning. (Beyond closing hours) a place that cares about it locals more then it does it’s paying overnight customer. Actually rang down to find out what time the pub was closing- people shouting in the bar. Shower sounded like it was powered by a rolls Royce plane engine. The extractor fan, you could use the fluff around it to make your own plump pillow. Or ear muffs to reduce the deafening sounds which came from below. Really disappointing after a long day was hoping for a reasonable night sleep!

Sunday lunch was everything it should be, beautifully cooked and served efficiently and with friendliness and good humour....lovely. Add to that a very nice pint of Harviestoun Bitter and Twisted, and perfection was close!! It was quiet - we were the first guests in for lunch but it felt good to be there and to feel entirely positive about returning soon!!

Visited on a Thursday evening, last night of a week long visit to the area. Tempted by reviews, and unfortunately not impressed. Took over an hour for the food to arrive, on a very quiet evening. For a party of three, ordered tikka masala, cheeseburger, and lasagne. Food definitely didn't live up to menu description. Tikka masala out of a jar, frozen chicken cubes, lasagne swimming with oil, one layer of pasta, plain burger poor quality meat with no additions and frozen onion rings. Can't believe an hour wait for absolutely shocking food. Nice pub, but shocking food, complained when paying bill but no apologies offered. Area limited for food options, but no excuse for food, which to be honest was abominal

First time in this establishment. On entry the public bar was very clean and attractive with a good variety and choice of beverages. The restaurant was nicely decorated and a good size which created a lovely comfortable atmosphere. Two of our party had the fish and chips, one had the steak and ale pie and one had the ham/cheese burger, we all agreed the food was excellent. The waitress was friendly and answered any questions we had. We could not fault our experience and would most certainly go again. The location makes this an ideal hotel for visiting fishermen.

Overpriced very bland food. Had to throw lots of salt on everything just so it was edible. The mac n cheese was the worst as it seemed to be just boiled pasta ..very watery and overcooked broccoli and NO CHEESE SAUCE JUST HOT WATER. And £12 i must add which is shocking..ps the calazone was ok but still shocking what you get for £14..overall will never eat out off here again.

We were staying next door at the Crown Inn to attend a wedding in the area however commencement of their lunch service was leaving us tight for time so we popped in here instead in the knowledge we’d get a decent snack. The stairs may be a challenge for the less able however it’s worth the effort as the produce served is very good. We both ordered quiche which was served with salad, coleslaw, crisps and a Balsamic dressing (£6.50). I’m not usually too keen on Balsamic however I used some from the small pot provided separately and it turned out to be fine. The quiche itself was very good. We had coffee (£3) and tea (£2.80) which were very good too but since we were a bit pushed for time we had tray bakes as takeaway - Millionaire Shortbread for my wife and a slice of Aero Mint for myself. Both priced at £3.50 they went down well with a coffee the following day when we were back home! Service on this occasion by the two young females serving was pleasant and efficient. Overall cost for lunch was a reasonable £25.80.

Went for Xmas lunch today as party of 8. Food was amazing, great portion sizes and price was so good. Our elderly lady took ill and the staff were fantastic, so caring. Waitress stayed with her in bathroom so we could all eat our meal. Even helping with her coat and tucking her scarf in as it was cold outside. Exactly the way you would treat your own mum. Staff are an asset to the tavern. Will definitely return

I have stayed here on numerous occasions recently due to work commitments. Both Curt & Susie are fabulous hosts & I can not recommend this hotel enough. The rooms are modern, comfortable & clean. The honesty bar is amazing & comfortable to chill in, along with the turntables playing vinyl which I loved. I want to keep it all to myself so I can stay when I want , but that would be selfish of me. Congratulations to this lovely family running an amazing hotel where they are nothing but kind , courteous & look after their guests. Best hotel I have ever stayed in & can't wait to visit again in 2025 & catch up.
