Great food indeed, very good quality friendly staff, only downside it did take a while. Ham hock starter was to die for and the steak was perfection. The dessert certainly hit the spot. Certainly what you need after a long day in the saddle.

A friend and I stayed at the Hotel this weekend. We are both keen mountain bikers so the location was just perfect for the Glentress forest trials. What a weekend we had! First of all the staff at the hotel were friendly, efficient and very helpful. Under new management this place is on its way to be amazing. Perfect for anyone wanting to explore the bike trails or surrounding area. The restaurant is lovely and the food.....just fantastic. The steak is lush! We are planning to return in October with a group of friends. Cant wait! Thank you Murray and Alex for a brilliant stay.

In Peebles visiting family and was told this place was very good. Booked for 8pm and restaurant probably half full with 2 wait staff. Menu presented on one sheet of paper, no specials board. Had smoked salmon which was very good with healthy portion. 2 of the 5 in the company had the leek and potato soup which was very bland and tasteless and no bread to accompany it (until asked for). All 5 had the steak, that and burger were the only meat options for mains. Steak was excellent but chips were very disappointing. Personally, I would want chunky steak fries with steak, not the skinny fries we were given. Only other veg was a small portion of green beans. Service was friendly but very slow considering it wasn't particularly busy. I understand that the restaurant has recently changed hands and as such the new owners are not quite up to speed. However in an area where I understand there is a lot of competition, this new venture needs to get organised quickly to build up a loyal customer base.

This hotel/restaurant has under new management and recently has been refurbished. It is a vast improvement on the old place. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is good quality pub food and the view is wonderful.

Sadly now seem to be closed. Unfortunately the Main Street of Jedburgh offers nothing in the way of dog friendly cafes... the only town in our trip across central Scotland to have that issue.

With its dark wood furnishings, including a very large gantry, and most of the wall space covered in framed rugby strips, photos etc, the public bar in the Black Swan could almost be described as dark and old fashioned. It can also feel cramped at times as everyone tends to shun the other bar (and rightly so - ‘cos it’s horrible). The public bar is a place where you have a decent chance of meeting some wee, unintelligible drunk bloke (or two) in the corner, but it is also a place where it is easy to strike up conversation with locals at the bar. In many ways the Swan is like a pub from the past and is pretty unique in Kelso. Perhaps that’s why we always come in whenever we visit the town. It is an ordinary, no frills, traditional Scottish pub with good service and good lager and good banter. It suits us perfectly well.

A very welcoming atmosphere, heat staff who were very dog friendly. Food was good and would recommend the restaurant and beer!
