We enjoyed a great dinnere here! Service was mostly very young people which is nice to see. They were all lovely, polite and friendly. For a starter we went with chicken & ham terrine which was nicely seasoned and went really well with the tarragon mayonaise. As a main we had sizzling steak (peppercorn sauce was incredible) and lamb 3 ways - delicious! Tender meat, rich gravy, nicely roasted carrot. For pudding we enjoyed the lemon tart acompanied by super tangy lemon sorbet and chocolate mousse! Definitely worth a visit if you're around.

Food was delicious and service was very good. Convenient restaurant if you’re staying at the hotel.

The staff was lovely and managed to find us the table even though there was a wedding reception going on in the hotel. The burger was too well done, the oat latte was off, and tasted a little bit funny. The £18 fish I ordered was supposed to be salmon and on the plate I got some other white fish (which was delicious but not what I ordered). We didn't have a heart to tell the waiter because we knew they were extremely busy. We were very hungry so the portions seemed small. Worth a visit if you're in the area but stay clear of the coffee ☕ Scotland | UK | Restaurant

Lovely location. Looks and Feels posh and expensive, staff is very welcoming and friendly. If you came to see "The map" you should definitely pop in for coffee and cake, priced at only £5 it's an absolute bargain and is very tasty.

Absolutely dreadful. Tasteless badly cooked and presented - and expensive. The complete package!

Welcoming hosts and staff, great base to explore the area. Good food and drink offerings, cater well for allergens. Room was homely and comfortable. Would recommend!

Usually happy with everything but this visit was poor. Coffee was barely warm twice. The sitting area at the back was cold with the overhead heater blowing cold air. Not going to rush back. 👎

I had a hugely disappointing stay at Ednam house. It looks like a beautiful building on the website, as do the rooms and the food. The building itself is very pretty from the outside but it needs to be completely gutted and renovated. None of furniture should even be kept - throw everything out and start from zero. Everything was dirty and dusty, the lampshades stained, the shower mouldy, the carpets old and horrible. Black hairs in the room and the carpet clearly not hoovered. The food at the restaurant was so bad we didn’t touch it when it arrived. Do not order the cod dish as it is completely flavourless. We also ordered green beans and the waiter let us know 10 minutes after our other food arrived that “there is a problem with the green beans”. They never arrived which left us wonder what on earth this problem could have been… The staff were not great and often got our orders wrong or forgot things. This place is completely misrepresented online and it would be such a shame for people to use their well earned holidays at such a badly run establishment. They need to start from zero and close this hotel for months to make the fixes it desperately needs. The location and house from the outside are beautiful so all I can say is that it has nothing but potential. I feel truly catfished by this hotel so please think twice before booking
