While on a Motorcyle tour called here looking for somewhere to get a bite. after being directed by local shop keepers that we asked to find some where to eat and were surprised by the varied menu, ham and gruyere toast was very very tasty, service was reasonably quick considering they were almost full, staff were spot on, price was maybe a little dear but everything has had a hike, so considering the quality on a par, would recommend and use again when in town

Disappointed with our lunch and even more disappointed by the staffs reaction to our complaint. They didn't care at all and charged us in full. Gluten free bread fell apart and no coleslaw or salad even though it was on the menu. Very disappointed.

We enjoyed an early dinner on Halloween. Lovely relaxing atmosphere, excellent customer service and superb food. Imaginitive vegetarian options, perfect sea bass and gorgeous steak pie. The sticky toffee pudding was the star of the show! We will definitely be back.

I'm aware the house o'hill has just opened back up but our experience was as if we had just walked into faulty towers, there was a boss lady trying to take orders but didn't have a clue, a boss man that just wanted to stand at pizza counter and do nothing and a poor girl stuck on till not knowing how to work till and don't forget jack and Victor in the kitchen, there was 6 tables with people sitting and you thought there was 36 most meals came out late and wrong, also no alcohol sold people will wait for a meal if there drinking alcohol but not if there drinking coke, food was basic but good when we eventually got it, for the life of me I don't know what the problem was cause me and my wife could have served and cooked what was sitting on Saturday night ourselves with no help, I really hope they can turn this round

I visited Thomas Tosh last week while passing through Thornhill. Delighted to see that my favourite lemon and raisin cake is back on the menu, and that as always, the coffee, service and general atmosphere is good as ever! Thanks again to the staff, will be back next time I’m in the area

Came across this place randomly. Did not disappoint. Decided to go to southerness after a day at Caerlaverock castle. Had been to the lighthouse over 20 years ago and wanted a trip down memory lane. Stumbled on this place. Sat outside to have a drink in the warm sun. Had look at menu and ordered Cajun chicken macaroni. Massive portion and delicious. Place was busy which is surprising as it feels like middle of nowhere. If you are down this way then the Paul jones bar and grill is a must. Cater for dogs too.

We visited this cafe on a Sunday lunchtime and their weekend menu was mainly brunch dishes. We had an Eggs Benedict and a Chicken Club sandwich - both excellent, with pots of caravan and mayfair tea, chosen from their extensive range. To follow we had a pumpkin spiced cheesecake and a large meringue with cream and a couple of americanos. We couldn’t fault anything, it was all delicious and served by lovely friendly staff. A lovely experience and we wholeheartedly recommend!

Popped in for a Saturday lunch. The place was packed. The staff were ran of their feet but the server let us know she would be with us soon and couldn’t have been more apologetic. We did want to have some cakes but nobody came back to clear the table despite it quieting down. Food was tasty.
