I visited today for lunch with my sister. Whilst the food was nice, the service was terrible. We got greeted by a waitress who had a mouthful of food and was chewing it as she took us to our table. We then witnessed the same waitress counting out tips whilst chewing a mouthful of food when another customer was trying to pay their bill. I had spilt a little bit of gravy on the placemat, before getting desert, before it came I asked to get it cleaned and I was handed a napkin to do it myself. All in all I wouldn’t have minded if the waitress had manners. The staff here need to learn some manners, not just one either. Most of them.
Just been to the newly refurbished Port Pantry and we were not disappointed. Lovely cosy surroundings, excellent service and tasty food that was plentiful. I even managed a cheeky wee Prosecco with my lunch which was a bonus. I highly recommend The Port Pantry & look forward to visiting in the future.
My husband and I had a delicious 3 course meal and drinks and could not fault anything. The food is so good and we would definitely recommend the duck for main course.
The staff are so welcoming and friendly - a great team. After dinner they asked if we’d like our coffee in the lounge which was lovely and we had a couple of drinks while chatting on a comfy sofa.
Can’t wait to return in the lighter nights so we can also appreciate the view.
We had a really tremendous meal at The Globe. Food and service were of the highest quality. We would highly recommend and will definitely return ourselves soon.
Our charity took 100+ lighthouse enthusiasts to Mull of Galloway lighthouse and this coffee house opened up specially, by pre-arrangement, on a day they are not normally open. They offered full service to us and the quality was excellent. For such a remote location to have such a high quality place to chill out and socialise with great food and drink is amazing. Brilliant.
This is the perfect place to sit for a coffee and a cake while waiting for family browsing the bookshops of Wigtown - or for a pit stop if you are on a bookshop marathon yourself.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The chairs and sofas are comfy. The coffee is spot on and the cakes…Oh. My. Word! I had the apple and cinnamon and my husband had the lemon and ginger. Both were so light and utterly delicious - I was told the owner bakes them all herself, and my goodness she is good at it!
Went into the cafe after never visiting Kirkcudbright. Was greetd by a lovely young lady that was friendly, took our order and had a wee chat.
Food was beautiful. Home made soup especially, and desserts.
Lovely homey feel.
authentic Italian restaurant with lots of charm & traditional vibes. The early bird 2 course menu is excellent value for money at £13.50 pp with all the classic dishes on. We opted for the regular menu, i had the calamari fritters & sea bass with mushroom ravioli ( was lobster on menu but they had run out). The fish was cooked to perfection & the ravioli was amazing in the red pepper sauce. My partner had panzenolle ( probably spelt that wrong but it was pieces of pizza dough with a garlic mayo dip ) & steak diane. He said the steak was one of the best he had, very tender. The restaurant was full, which apparently it is mostly, good atmosphere & lots of attentive staff. very good👍
Visited for a meal with family & friends. Seated straight away & grabbed drinks from the bar fairly quickly but food service was very slow - I feel they can only handle 1 table/group at a time (due to small kitchen?) & they were unable to provide amendments to meals (peas instead of beans or mash instead of roast potatoes etc) or provide extra gravy when needed.
Overall happy with the friendly atmosphere & smiley service. Thanks
Just superb all round - the food [first and foremost] was fantastic!
The vibe & atmosphere were spot-on - great music, decor, everything.
Will be back for sure - gotta try that Malaysian Curry next!
Had the burrito this time, which was awesome! And the Sticky Toffee Carrot Cake… Ummm… Can I have some more, please?
Took me far too long to get my bum in the door - won’t be dilly-dallying about for Round 2, I can tell ya that!
Wonderful little cafe, the breakfast was amazing. The haggis and lorne being standouts. The staff were also super friendly and accommodating.
Looking forward to visiting again next time I’m in Moffat.
I love this place a very special restaurant with super friendly staff who give you a great welcome, we are locals who lunch regularly and the warm inviting atmosphere tops anywhere locally. Great presentation of home produced products , tasty and delightful also the farm shop with amazing products a true gem of a place in Dumfries and Galloway
We stopped here on the way to Kippford. We knew we had stumbled on a gem when we saw how busy it was.
The food was tasty, service was pleasant and the atmosphere was warm and inviting.
My wife and i enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea at the Abbey Cottage today.
The afternoon tea consisted of freshly made sandwiches of your choice , fruit or plain scone with clotted cream and jam and a choice of different sponge cakes along with a pot of tea. It may be advisable to book the afternoon tea in advance as we did.
The Abbey Cottage has all the best attributes of a traditional tea room The staff were welcoming , conversational and friendly. The premises were very clean. The food itself was a treat.
There is a convenient car park behind the cottage which also serves as the car park for the ruin of Sweetheart Abbey which is next to the cottage.
In addition to the tearoom the cottage also has a shop selling locally produced goods.
The Abbey cottage is very much worth visiting if you are in the area.
