The best restaurants in Dumfries & Galloway Lowlands

The Steamboat Inn is a lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere. Great views over the sea aswell and little beach to explore before eating. Kids loved it. The pub has a lovely little children's area if you are out for a family meal with little ones and the food was great, clean plates all round. The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back again soon.

Cracking place, called in by chance and were lucky to get a table. (They had a tasting session later in the evening and were fully booked). Burger was very enjoyable, my partner wasn't as pleased with her "pie of the day".

Fast service, good, tasty meals, nice atmosphere. Bruschettas as entrees are rather odd, as the original ones are on small pieces of toast, while the restaurant serves one big slice of bread.

Went for a lunchtime meal. The food was exceptional. My son said they were the best chips and macaroni cheese ever! I enjoyed a chicken burger with a delicious relish. Lovely staff and service too. Will definitely be back again x

Have visited here a few times and the food is always delicious and very reasonably priced. Restaurant is very nicely decorated and very clean. Lovely staff.

Lovely woman served us...we were on motorcycles so she brought our stuff to us...very pleasant

A very welcoming and relaxed establishment with good beer and service...

Stayed in the village for a few days and this was the only option within walking distance for an evening meal, and very good it was too. We booked for two nights, one night was quiet and another was full - and this was midweek in early March so I think that says a lot. Excellent friendly service from coming in the door, the menu was mainly basic pub grub but there was a very good selection and it wasn't overly expensive. The food was excellent and there was plenty of it. We only decided not to have dinner on the other two nights of our stay as we were still a bit stuffed from our previous feeds! As the only pub in the village they are certainly not resting on their laurels and when we revisit we will be making bookings again.

Currently sitting here now .. service is brilliant young girl is lovely and helpful...food is absolutely lovely here is defo recommend here...not here staying so can't comment on rooms or hotel part ..all staff are really friendly aswell x

Great menu with a lot of choice. Some of our family are vegans and had a lot to choose from. Staff were friendly. Food was tasty. Would recommend.

Visited recently during the week and although really busy the food and service were outstanding. My partner is from Edinburgh and couldn’t believe how reasonable it was for the quality of food we were served. She can’t wait to go back. Fab u Lous

The food was great best I’ve tasted in a while. Not recommended for people with disabilities. Very difficult to get to restaurant and toilet facilities not good. View from restaurant fantastic. Service was top class

Visited today with two coach driver colleagues for an amazing Scottish breakfast. We had dropped off some excited school children at the Lonsdale to watch Paddington in Peru. We didn’t have marmalade sandwiches but a delicious breakfast and such a large portion which kept us going all day. We would like to also pass on praise to Claire for such a warm, friendly welcome who was very complimentary to our Christmas jumpers well for the two of us anyway.
