Large family meal to celebrate young ones graduation from University. Service was excellent from start to finish and food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal and all our little quirks and dietary requirements where met. Would recommend.

First class meal tonight. All food extremely tasty and great value . As a local it’s way above nearby competition. Dining room nicely done out and it was worth mentioning the professionalism of the young waiting team all of who were very mannerly and pleasant

Didn't stay in the hotel but used the public bar as there's a campervan spot on the Quay just opposite. The bar staff and locals are all super friendly. Toilets immaculate. The hotel restaurant was packed! Bingo last Friday of every month was a hoot. Will definitely return! (If you are the owner, say Hello to your regular Ian in the bar from Ricky & Kaz 😂🍻)

Very good gluten free menu, plenty of choice thoroughly enjoyed my meal, also other menu excellent. The views from the restaurant onto the tidal Nith estuary are amazing and on occasions have seen the tidal bore when tide was coming in.

We only went there for dinner. The food quality is okay nothing special but the restaurant area is hot there's no air con or fan to cool us down.

Lovely hotel. On arrival I wasn’t sure, exterior looked a bit run down. However my room was great, roomy, lots of natural light and a comfy bed. Staff were great, very friendly and available when required. Breakfast was included in price and again a credit to the hotel. Breakfast was very tasty and a big portion. Views from the room were lovely, looking over River Nith. I’d definitely recommend.

Unplanned stop at Glencaple lunchtime on Tuesday 11th June desperate for a bite to eat. Only two places to eat in village the other was full to the gunnels so we had no option but to give the Nith hotel a try. In fairness, hotel looks underwhelming from the outside and the entrance from the car park at the rear even more so, a bit like entering the Marie Celeste. Eventually came across some humans dining in an area with a nice view out to the river Nith. We were eventually greeted by a bubbly member of staff who took me and my better half to a table with a selection of menus to peruse. We opted for a lite bite of toasties, fries and tea which came with complimentary short bread and chocolate mints. Food was delicious and the service was faultless. The main meals brought out for other customers looked scrummy. All in all we were pleasantly surprised with our lunchtime experience. That said, I have no doubt the Nith hotel is well known and used by it's local clientele but for passing trade it could do more to make the premises more inviting from the outside. The entrance at the rear could be better signed especially from the roadside and some hanging baskets (just a suggestion) at or near the rear entrance would be pleasing on the eye and might help to draw people in. Online reviews for the Nith hotel seem to be very good but I do feel more could done to make it more inviting.

We dropped in for lunch and we're very pleasantly surprised by the service and the quality of the food. We met four of the staff and they were all really helpful and lovely, made us feel welcome and relaxed. I had a mixed grill and expected to be lauding the rump steak; but the sausages, haggis and black pudding made the rump seem insignificant. What a well prepared meal it was and at a perfectly fair price. We'd go back at the drop of a hat and would happily stay there given the friendly welcome. Good people, good food.

I booked this hotel on impulse for myself and a fellow biker to act as a weekend base to tour D&G. Did we fall on our feet or what!!! We have toured extensively and can honestly say it was hard to fault any aspect of our stay. *Location* A tad out of the way but only 5 miles from Dumfries. *Room* Clean, very comfortable beds and one of the best showers in our experience. *Food* Outstanding quality and some very interesting choices *Staff* Impeccable across all areas. Waiting on staff were well presented, very polite and efficient. Not stuffy in any way and we had a lot of fun. *Parking* Adequate off road parking in which to park our bikes with the bonus of being able to see them from the bedroom. *Pricing* Very reasonably priced accommodation, food and drink. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and will be returning later in the year.

Great location. Very friendly staff. Lovely clean interior. We stopped overnight in the carpark opposite and had a couple of drinks here. When we stay in an area like this we like to buy local so we give back to the local economy. We will definitely call here again. Thank you :-)

We stopped here for dinner (evening meal) on our way back home. It was very pleasant, the food was good 👌 and best of all, dogs were allowed in the bar area (where we had our meal). Thank you for being dog friendly, Nith Hotel!! 👍

The Hitching Post is everything you’d want in a classic American diner! The food is delicious, with generous portions and all the comfort food favorites done right. The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is warm and nostalgic, perfect for a relaxed meal. Highly recommend stopping by—you won’t be disappointed!

We had a superb midweek supper here with friends in November. Bit of a trek from Dumfries but well worth the visit, and even closer to the M74 for anyone travelling up to Scotland in need of a refreshment. The haggis bites were delicious and the lamb kleftiko simply melted in the mouth. Their Chilean SB was extremely gluggable and very reasonably priced. Abbey and Jack were the best hosts. Highly recommended.

The SWI had our Christmas Meal here this year and pre ordered. I had the turkey and trimmings which was served on a huge platter and three huge slices of turkey. Everything cooked to perfection. I took the apple strudel and ice cream - great ice cream. Everyone enjoyed what they had ordered and a lovely atmosphere, and attentive serving staff who were pleased to see us and cheery.

My wife and I have eaten in this restaurant on numerous occasions in the past and I must say that tonights meal was the best we've ever had there. My wife had the Salmon and I had the Steak Pie which was out of this world followed by two fantastic deserts & coffees. Could not fault the meal or the service that we received, well done to the management and staff for taking care of us - Thank you.
