Cracking place, called in by chance and were lucky to get a table. (They had a tasting session later in the evening and were fully booked). Burger was very enjoyable, my partner wasn't as pleased with her "pie of the day".

Excellent place to eat and drink. We were staying in the Isle of Whithorn for a week over Hogmanay and visited every day, except for New Year's Day. The staff and locals were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the menu changed every day. Drink was great too. Really made our stay fantastic! Met lots of great people; both local and other guests. Hogmanay was excellent. I'm am a recent wheelchair user and I was made to feel very relaxed and cared for. Thank you all so much. We'll certainly be back.

Fish n chips Friday, it was ok but how come the batter was bigger and thicker than the fish? Chips were ok, side salad nice with pot of peas and tartar sauce One of my party was disappointed by the chocolate brownie which was small, around 1.5” square, small scoop of ice cream, fancy serviette effect biscuit and icing sugar, with some whiskey orange marmalade it was £7.95 and was very slow coming. He did like the Kingdom Pale Ale. 2 fish and chips, 2 halves of Kingdom Pale Ale, j2O, chocolate brownie and a pot of tea for £54.

Great location, great local brewed Five Kingdoms beer, great dinner & breakfast, great room, great service. Will definitely be back

While visiting the Isle of Whithorn and staying in our campervan we like to contribute something to the area by using local businesses. As we had a great park up and for free the obvious choice was to have our evening meal in this establishment. The staff were lovely and friendly with great hospitality not only towards us but our Cockapoo Willow. We were sat in the bar area which was nice with a good friendly atmosphere. The food was lovely with both our meals being more than we could finish 😀 So if your using the free park up and want to have a good evening with food and/or drinks then give this place a try and support the local business.

Fabulous food with a great range of options available, including local produce. Fantastic value for money. I had the Fish Pie and it was the nicest I’ve ever had, full of fish. Staff were also really friendly. We enjoyed it so much we’re going back again for the last evening of our holiday. Highly recommend!

Deciding on a day out we drove 50 miles from home to IOW. The idea was to have lunch at the Steam Packet based soley on the advertised menu on their website that i'd read that morning. As a non meat eater the fish and vegetarian meals offered plentiful refreshing choice. On arrival we had drinks and asked for the menu. A vastly different menu arrived, I asked if the online one was for evening. The waitress replied ' oh that menu was ages ago, it was when we started and just put together to get people in' Well it certainly got us in but didn't deliver. I'm not alone in making considered choices where to dine out by way of an eatery 's online menu. I make my choice to dine there BECAUSE of their menu. The sad reality was an option of mac cheese, ubiquitous county wide as the veggie choice ( or should I say no choice if it's the only v option!) or fish and chips. Both meals eaten at home as a quick go to if i can't be bothered. Hardly ( to quote your page) an evolving menu is it? If you advertise fare to folk to bring them in, then could you serve it? I will travel for good menus, you have to in D and G but not for misinformation. If it had been described as a sample menu i'd have enquired on the phone. As a result we won't call for food again. I'll reward with patronage those establishments that offer what they advertise.

We visited the Steampacket inn for lunch, we found this hidden gem on Tripadvisor and we are glad we went there. We were greeted by we think the owner who was very nice and helpful, some of us had the Cullen skink which by far was the best I have tasted in a long time, I then had a burger with chips, this burger was so tasty and meaty, we were all stuffed afterwards. The food and service overall was fab, I highly highly recommend this place.

Been going here for many years now but unfortunately stopped when it was taken over a few years ago the new people killed the heart and sole of a traditional harbour side pub ? I’m glad to see alister is again at the helm and the Sunday roast we had was the best we have had for months and we eat out a lot More attention to detail or staff training would help but well done and see you next time

This was our fourth visit to the wonderful Steam Packet Inn, our first under the new management. Once again it was fantastic! The staff are lovely and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable with brilliant views over the bay. The food was amazing, the photos don’t do it justice! We can’t wait to come back!

We were doing the Red cycle route around Whithorn and arrived in the Isle of Whithorn hungry for lunch. Having struggled to find vegan options in Newton Stewart we were delighted to find several vegan options on the menu. I had the hot Mediterranean salad and my husband had the chickpea curry. Both were clearly freshly prepared, beautifully presented and very tasty!! I would be happy to recommend both dishes to anyone vegan or not.(The side of seasonal veg had a good variety of veg nicely cooked.) We ate in the bar but they have extensive seating areas and are clearly very popular so it would be a good idea to book ahead for a big group.

Visited the steam packet inn at start of the year and it was absolutely brilliant. Food, service, ambiance, pricing all spot on. Returned again in June and was quite disappointed in the food. Menu has changed and is more expensive. Portions sizes appear smaller also. Had the haddock morney which was pretty tasteless and not very filling. Ordered the cheese board for pudding to try fill me up, was ok but not much variety of cheeses. Mostly all cheddars and quite expensive, not worth the money. Would not rush back. As relatively local, this place will rely on locals during the winter but will need to sort out their menu and pricing to attract regulars.

Wonderful wedding reception! ❤️ We had our wedding reception meal at the Steam Packet Inn and it was amazing, from the planning to the amazing service and food! A massive thank you for a seamless event and a special mention to Susie, Sophie and Ruby for the wonderful attentive service for our party of 12. All of our food arrived within 30 minutes of ordering, it was delicious and piping hot. Drinks arrived without delay and with smiles. Absolutely recommend the Steam Packet for delicious food and amazing service!

OMG this place is so much better than our last visit, staff were so much nicer, welcome was great and the food was so fresh and delicious, monkfish curry was to die for.

Visited the Steam Packet 9/3/24, we are regular visitors. We were eager to try the new menu…. It did not disappoint, we enjoyed starters of breaded mushrooms and scallops…delicious! Main…. we both made the most of the delicious specials, curried monkfish and lentil dhal for me and the chicken burger for the man. The monkfish was perfectly spiced, cooked to perfection and the lentil dhal made the perfect accompaniment. The chicken burger was a full chicken breast, served with proper chips and plenty of them. Service was great, efficient and friendly. Can’t fault anything!

Supper in the Steam Packet tonight was fabulous - we both had scallops on a bed of celeriac with apple and nuts as a starter - not a combination we would have thought of, but really delicious. The lamb to follow was really tender and the monkfish curry outstanding. Thank you very much to all the staff who were very friendly and helpful.

Super, terrific afternoon at the Steampacket Inn....had a lovely lunch with my family and canine friend and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a good, tasty and ample meal. Service was excellent, staff were excellent and we were very looked after. We ate: Wild Boar Burger (my favourite!), Fish Pie, Mussels and Smoked Sea Bream.....all DELICIOUS! Thanks again for a great afternoon!

Lovely food but could do with a couple more pub classics to go along side the fancier Red Deer and Pheasant etc. Shame you can’t sit and have a drink anywhere any more with all bar tables now for dining only.

The Pub has a warm and cosy feel, love all the fairy lights. The Staff are super friendly make you feel at home. The food was delish, from the breakfast ( milk and butter alone) evening meals excellant, Choc brownie FABULOUS. The rooms nicely done, our stay was lovely, Thank you to all for a fantastic New year. This place is a revelation! Fantastically inventive use of the freshest local ingredients prepared with the greatest skill and respect. Don’t miss a chance to visit- currently there’s an astounding festive menu which is as generous as it is tasty- absolutely fabulous value and well worth the drive. The best food treat ever and kind and happy staff- woohoo! We’ll be back as soon as we can make it! Also fabulous beer from their brewery.

Gorgeous meal at The Steam Packet last night, the food was delicious and inventive, lots of variety on the menu, the staff are warm and welcoming and the pub sparkled with lights and Christmas decorations!

If you are travelling to the Isle of Whithorn, this is the place to eat. The owners have made this a beautiful place to stay and to enjoy food and drink. We had the Fish and Chips and the Boar Burger which were very tasty. The homemade tomato ketchup is delightful. They also stock local beer. We were so impressed that we booked in for breakfast the next day which was equally as good. The service was friendly and attentive. We will visit again 😊

Two couples both with dogs were made welcome from the moment we arrived. Lovely food, delicious starter’s (lobster ravioli being a highlight) and quality mains (a mix of Ox cheek, pork, pheasant and beef Wellington between us) all with good service. Would definitely recommend a visit if in the area.

I have been coming here for many years on and off whilst travelling with work and wouldn't usually comment. However, there something not just not right with this place and I feel the present management are just there to make a quick buck whilst everything falls apart. The gents toilet cubicles are in a right mess with either being closed off or toilets seats hanging off for over 4 months. And for the beer!! How can you run out so often when the pubs brewery is just down the road. Food is okay but slightly overpriced then again most places are now days

We were quickly welcomed and shown to our reserved table. Our drnks order was also taken and delivered. We decided to order main course and dessert. I had a lovely Beef Wellington (medium rare) and my wife really enjoyed her Barbary Duck which was cooked to her choice of medium. We were very satisfied with the quality and quantity of food. The restaurant was busy and the only negative of our meal was that the staff did not seem to notice that we had finished the mains. I had to call a waitress over to ask for dessert menus. We had a Gingerbread Cheesecake and a Chocolate Almond Dartois. The ice cream was delicious. A nice touch was that as my wife has mobility issues, she was shown to a downstairs staff toilet. The total cost for the meal and drinks was £74.30, not cheap but worth it.

Very popular so book ahead and ask for lobster in advance. Best lobster ever! Steaks and beef wellington also excellent.

A perfect base when staying in the village. Michelin standard meals. Good variety of drinks. Cannot wait to return.

Pub and restaurant only. Friendly staff with great service, ambiance left something to be desired (we sat in back) but the food was fantastic. Get the lobster ravioli or two!!! Sea bream was well prepared and perfectly served. Ribeye was perfectly cooked to order.

Very friendly staff, popular with locals & tourists & dog friendly in both the bar & restaurant. Excellent local ale “Private Idaho 7” brewed in the village at Five Kingdoms Brewery. Went in for a couple of drinks & ended up with the fish & chips as they looked amazing. They didn’t disappoint - gorgeous fresh white fish, light batter, perfect chips served with homemade lime & capor mayo & homemade ketchup. Would not hesitate in recommending or coming back here if we’re in the area again.

My mum moved recently and lived by. I had heard good things so popped on over for a meal and was blown away! The food was well presented and delicious. When discussing price I would say it's well worth it. I had the good fortune of speaking to the chef who told me it is his goal to source all the food as locally as possible and even shared with me their sources so I could buy the meat to cook at home. Wonderful place with great staff, food and atmosphere.

Probably the best fish and chips you can possibly have, none better. Great beers too. Lovely people.

Table for 2 to celebrate our wedding Anniversary . We were greeted on arrival by a very warm welcome by Suzie , who shared her knowledge of the food and drinks menu which is filled with a fabulous selection of local produce . A short time later drinks were brought to our table , swiftly followed by our food which was simply delicious and no less than we expect when dining here . The starter and main were beautifully presented on the plates and after our meal it was wonderful to have the option to retreat to the comfort of the sofas to enjoy our lattes . A real home from home feel . We are most fortunate to have this 5 star Harbourside eatery just down the road from us , and it sincerely never fails to disappoint. Had to let the staff know that the fish they served today, as in Fish and Chips, was simply the best I have ever tasted. Perfect fresh white fish, and a good size, was cooked/steamed to perfection in a unique tasty batter. Honestly don’t think it could have been cooked better.
