Amazing food, great value for the quality. The service from our waitress was also excellent, extremely attentive and welcoming plus helpful with menu choices. Also, provided a small gesture of a homemade cherry tart and a candle for a family members birthday. Real top quality food and service. Minor note; was a quiet evening at the restaurant, could have done with slightly louder music to help with atmosphere of the place.

The Del Amitri restaurant at the Powfoot hotel offers high quality food and a varied menu in a dining room with lovely views over the Solway. The pork belly and the cheese souffle were particularly good, and the wine/drinks menu was very well curated.

We’ve been here several times. And it has been fabulous. Sadly not this evening, I ordered lamb, and I couldn’t even cut through it, let alone enjoy it. I asked for a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and got a Sauvignon Blanc. So the main course was inedible, and whilst I was offered a substitute, no reduction was made from the final bill. Real disappointment, what has gone wrong with a once really nice restaurant?

Delicious dinner. All dishes are prepared carefully and presented beautifully, and the service is attentive and friendly. Lovely views from the restaurant and hotel across the Solway Firth. Do book in advance for dining or afternoon tea, but you can also call in for hot rolls or a scone in the morning. The Facebook page can alert you to available tables. We’d particularly recommend the rhubarb panna cotta with stem ginger ice cream - it was fabulous and looked really pretty.

Stopped for launch with family and had a bar meal, service was excellent staff very friendly beer was first class, and food was God but not special so only four stars.

The weather was terrible but we were looking forward to our dinner with our 10 year old granddaughter. She has an anaphylactic allergy/reaction to anything with egg in. The staff could not have been more accommodating, they bent over backwards to help us, and she loved the “biggest hotdog in the world”. Both my wife and I had meals off the specials menu. Fabulous, and very reasonable price. My family are regular visitors to the Del Amitri restaurant in the Pow Foot hotel, my first time but certainly not the last.

We were looking forward to another del amitri delicious alacart tasting menu experience however ended up with no choice but to take the few selections festive 2 cource set menu choices! Everything was verygood but everyone on the group was dessapointed as it was a long drive for all and they were not able to have their favourate dishes.

Had the most amazing vegetable roulade today which was on the special menu. One of the best meals I have ever tasted. In fact I have never had anything as delicious. Followed by a chocolate desert which was just chocolate heaven. The staff are lovely people who are so helpful. The whole atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Log fire, views over the solway , perfect . Could not ask for more.

Had a fantastic lunch with plenty of choices for all. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Prices are very reasonable, which is nice to see nowadays, but food still excellent. Lovely lunch with plenty of variety and small selection for children. Food was tasty, hot and well presented. View over Solway was spectacular as always. Sadly, the disorganised service really detracted from the otherwise enjoyable experience. We asked 2 different members of staff 5 times to order our food before someone actually took our order. Normally, I would have got up and left, but I was a guest so didn't feel I could. Hope this was just a one-off.

We had a lovely meal here, their summer menu is tapas style, staff were lovely & explained the menu really well. The food was great & quite reasonable, our only complaint was that they don’t have high chairs for kids, they do offer a booster seat that fits on to a chair but this really wasn’t suitable especially for a lively 2 year old toddler. We were staying along the road at the caravan park so nipped along & brought our own or we wouldn’t have been able to wait for dinner. Please consider splashing out for high chairs as this could be a deal breaker for families of young children

Tasty lunch overlooking the Solway Firth. We had baguettes with a portion of homemade chips. They were the best we have had for a while. Excellent service by the waitresses. Hopefully we'll be back before returning home

Popped in for lunch on a Sunday. We had not booked and it was busy and they found us a table in the lounge , they did say there would be a wait as they had big tables but service was excellent and lunch was excellent as always and we had no wait at all.

We last ate at this restaurant many years ago when it was based in central Annan. We were so pleased that the quality and experience hadn’t been lost ! The foods is excellent value and the highest quality. The staff can’t do enough for you. We can’t wait to return !

We visited as a group of 7 people to celebrate a family birthday. From the moment that we arrived the staff were warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them. This high standard of service continued throughout the meal. The food was stunning, the portion sizes were perfect. It was the best meal that we have eaten in a very long time. We cannot wait to go back and try out other selections from the menu.

What a great restaurant with good choices and superb staff too. So glad we chose to eat in there. Excellent value especially considering the quality and service. Will dine in there again the next time we are in the area.

We celebrated a friend’s birthday here and what a treat it was! The food was exceptional! Taste and presentation was that of Michelin star standard. We had travelled from Cheshire en route to Isle of Arran and wanted to eat in the Hotel's restaurant. Had a meal here as a family. Must say it lived up to the reviews and we really enjoyed our evening. We were served by a lovely lady who said she only worked weekends, she should work more, she was a delight. Not in your face but very attentive and down to earth. Had heard mixed reviews so decided to try for ourselves, we were all very hungry and looking forward to a meal. When we arrived it wssnt very busy. We sat at a table and waited...and waited. Nobody acknowledged us so we asked for a menu at the bar. There wasnt a huge choice on the menu but we chose and waited...and waited. Decided to order at the bar to be told somebody would come to the table, but again waited and waited. The waitresses kept walking past but never looked our way, so we left. So never got to try the food so cant rate it but service is dismal.

Me and my wife have been coming to this restaurant for a long time now and never once had a bad starter main or dessert. Lisa and her staff all make you welcome, on our visit today we both had the crab dish my wife went for her normal beef main while I had lamb then we both went for the warm banana dessert. It is advisable that you book ahead as it is a very busy restaurant. The price is on par with a lot of eating places today but the food here has to be tasted to be appreciated. The people that moan about the prices here should stick to there two meals for £10 at there local pub they obviously don’t appreciate fine dining.

When we visited in May the restaurant was closed but the Powfoot Hotel offered the Del Amitri meals. No need to book a table. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly. Nice being at Powfoot again.

A quite nice culinary experience. Great view (we were here for lunchtime) on the sea, but also very nice food. Definitely Scottish and using the good ingredients from the region, but also modern, inventive and quite tastful. Smallish but delicious portions. Great dessert too.

We re-visited Del Amitri’s as a Birthday was close by and we had family to stay. As always the food was delicious, presented beautifully and the service warm and welcoming. This was a last minute decision and booking on a Sunday. The restaurant and hotel overlook the sea and an unspoilt coastline. The restaurant takes full advantage of these views. We had the 2 course Sunday lunch for £18. I chose the Scottish mussels with bacon in a creamy sauce and my husband had a wild garlic leaf mousse. Both were beautifully presented and tasted divine. Then we opted for the traditional roast beef, Yorkshire pudding etc. It was both plentiful and delicious. Everyone was very pleasant and service was excellent. Best meal we have had in ages, fine dining at everyday prices.We will definitely return.

Had visited Del Amitri on several occasions when it was above the Cafe Royal in Annan and always enjoyed it, but this was my first visit to the Powfoot restaurant. The setting is lovely - we were seated with a view over the Solway. The service was charming as it always has been and our party of 12 were made to feel very welcome. The food was beautiful and imaginative both in taste and presentation. We had a very enjoyable lunch for my Mum's 80th Birthday. I don't think it could have been any better!

Lovely restaurant with great views. The meal was nice...ccould maybe have been a bit more on the plate. We went on a Sunday and unfortunately only one starter and main option for vegetarians. The starter was nice although small, the main was ok..didn't have much flavour and could have done with some gravy or jus as it was quite dry and bland...I did ask and they gave me some kind of flavoured mayo which didn't really make it any better. The desserts were nice. Staff were very friendly and happy to help..prices reasonable.

Great restaurant..service is always excellent. I love the option for either restaurant or bar dining. Menus change with seasons and the quality of the ingredients and dishes are outstanding. In my experience this is one of the few places that excel at both.

Seasonal menu which is also changed on a regular basis so keep the dining experience interesting. Beautiful coastal views available at certain tables. Lovely, relaxed but professional service and food is served to a high standard.

We decided to have lunch here after it was recommended by quite a few of the locals at Gretna. We met up with friends and had a delicious lunch including dessert. Our friends had many questions about the food and the staff were able to answer questions knowledgeable. It has a very peaceful and relaxing ambiance and although they did initially comment that I wasn't able to bring my dog inside they were quite apologetic when I educated them regarding the public access rights of Assistance Dogs. Perhaps some staff education would be helpful in this regard.

This was a great find. We'd visited Del Amitri when it was a restaurant in nearby Annan and really wanted to revisit. When I googled it and found that it was now part of the Powfoot Hotel we were doubly delighted! The hotel is beautifully situated right on the very breezy edge of the Solway Firth at the end of the road, so no traffic noise etc. The room was spotlessly clean and well appointed, with a massive bed. Gorgeous white thick towels also provided. A very brisk walk then a lazy bath and down for dinner. The staff were a joy! Attentive, helpful and just lovely. The food was superb, as expected and we had a lovely evening.

We called in for lunch in the bar area a couple of times before walking along the shore. We found it to be a very relaxing place to eat. The staff were very friendly and patient. It was an interesting menu with snacks in addition to sandwiches. The views across the Solway were fascinating and ever changing. We would certainly recommend this.

Pleasant, relaxed venue, same men offered in restaurant and bar area. Have eaten here a number of times and never had any complaints. Some dishes better than others but on the whole probably the best restaurant in the area. Pleasant efficient staff.

There were 12 of us attending a suprise meal on Friday evening at the restaurant. The food was out of this world, not one of us could fault it. The duck that I had for my main course was delicious and cooked to perfection as sometimes it can be chewy. The rice pudding for dessert was fantastic. You are spoilt for choice with the menu and I must admit I found it hard to decide. The service and staff there are top class. Exceptional evening in such beautiful surroundings. Thanks to all concerned who made our evening one to remember.

We booked a table at 6pm just when the restaurant opened. We arrived early and had a drink in the lounge overlooking the Solway Estuary. At 6 prompt, we were shown to our table. The dining room was all set up with lit candles, jugs of iced water on the tables and all the chairs set at an inviting angle. Such a lovely touch.

We called in for lunch today, a very cold day too, but soon warmed up in the bar area. I chose the soup and sandwich combo, creamy potato and garlic soup with a roast turkey and cranberry mayo roll, made with fresh butter, other half had the classic burger, both meals were delicious. Served in a lovely warm bar area, not rushed at all, staff very polite too, even offering us a larger table and offering to turn the volume down on the tv, which was ok anyway. Yes we will definitely return

I booked late having mistakenly booked the wrong restaurant. They had lots of space (on a Thursday night). The food was good and the service was very friendly. The ambience was slightly lacking though. I would go back.

Fish , chicken and salmon pasta dishes with soup for three, was spot on. Very quiet for a Friday night - 8PM, but, apparently Annan locals had ate and gone. Place needs a bit of a revamp and you could see it more, with being so big and empty, but can’t fault the service and food. Think it is in new hands, and waiter was very optimistic, knowledgable, helpful. Food came out after not too long of a wait, and would certainly recommend.

Our party of 8 had a great time on Saturday night. Top notch, quality food pushing the boundaries of presentation and tastes in every way. I had the smoked Haddock Aranchini - amazing. Followed by the lamb medley with shepherds pie - fantastic. I really didn't need dessert, but managed to demolish the Panna Cotta - beautiful.

The staff were really friendly and efficient, and the food was amazing. It felt like fine dining but at a really reasonable price, it was easy to see why this place has got such good reviews. The location was beautiful, overlooking the sea and the atmosphere was really relaxed and calm. We even took photos of our food which I ordinarily judge people for, but it was so good we just had to. Will definitely be back!

Our bar lunch was lovely. 2 of us had the fishcakes and 1 had the Caesar salad with smoked chicken and bacon. The portion of chips was large enough to share. The rice pudding was enjoyed by 1 but the fabulous bramble and almond tart with bramble ice cream was really really scrumptious and if it is still on the menu go for it. The service was good with friendly and helpful staff and the view out across the Solway was spectacular. This hotel will certainly be visited again!

I have rediscovered Del Amitri in it's new location in the Powfoot Hotel.I have been back with hubby and visiting friends from abroad. It has always been good perfect even. The menu is not ordinary and service is excellent.On a lovely day the view from the restaurant facing the sea is gorgeous.
