Greedy landlord puts the rent up during COVID , thus completely crippling the business to the point of it having to shutdown. How sad . What was once a little gem of cafe , now fallen victim to the pandemic , through no fault of their own.

We called in here on a particularly wet and dreary Sunday to a nice warm and friendly cafe. I chose ham, cheese and pineapple toasty. My partner had soup then a toasty. His soup was homemade turnip soup which was very good. My toasty was perfectly cooked and served with a lovely fresh side salad and crisps. The toasty was one of the nicest anywhere. I had a bite of partner's millionaire cake which was lovely too. So glad we called in for late lunch, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Always start the weekend here when we are in the area, which is quite often through out the year as we have a caravan locally. Fantastic breakfast, good menu for lunch but we've never had lunch as breakfast fills you up until tea time.

Stopped here for breakfast before heading home. Nice bright, friendly, clean place. The”small” breakfast wasn’t that small and it included tea and toast. At £8 it was good value. The bacon and square sausages were really tasty and service was quick too.

Had a fruit scone and tea and enjoyed both. Scotland and Ireland know how to make scones. Not much of a tea drinker but this was a good cuppa. Staff really friendly and helpful even at the end of the day.

whilst visiting friends in castle douglas my husband and i popped into the (aptly named) simply delicious for lunch, located on the busy high street. it has a comprehensive menu with children and vegetarians wellcatered to and a cosy interior. i opted for bacon and cheese croissant and my husband had the smallbreakfast (with tea/coffee and toast provided). the food arrived fast and it tasted fresh and delicious, with coleslaw, salad and crisps on the side. efficient and friendly staff, a young waiter (blond) was very helpful in giving us directions to the otter pool in galloway forest park (about 16 miles away). we did not have dessert but noticed a cabinet at the door full of delicious looking cakes. to sum up the food was excellent, the atmosphere relaxed and the prices reasonable we look forward to returning to beautiful castle douglas and the simply delicious cafe next summer

Have been visiting this tea room in the last couple of months whilst visiting my sister in the local community hospital. This is a really good tearoom with a wide menu range. Homemade soup (with homemade soda bread), hot & cold filled rolls, toasties, all day breakfasts, home baking and hot and cold drinks. Service is efficient and friendly. This was my third visit and will continue to do so when in the area.

When you are in Castle Douglas and are looking for a nice wee place for something to eat, then the place that I am about to review is the place for you, and that place is Simply Delicious located at 134 High Street. I visited Simply Delicious for my lunch when I was in Castle Douglas yesterday and had a BLT roll washed down with diet coke which was absolutely delicious and which I would recommend. Other reasons why I like this café are that the place is clean, the welcome is warm and the staff are friendly. I would recommend this place

! Eficiente, rápido y amable servicio.

We visited the ironically named Simply Delicious tea room on Sunday the 12th of March 2017, when we are in Castle Douglas we Normally go to the Scottish Pantry for lunch, unfortunately the Pantry was closed so we went into the only place opened on the high street, my husband ordered a hot breakfast roll (no complaints) and I ordered a cheese toastie which came with a salad garni which consisted of a quarter of a tomato and a tiny piece of salad the toastie was burnt and as flat as a pancake, it amazes me that a tea room can't even make a decent toastie when my young grandchildren can, needless to say we won't be back the next time we are in castle Douglas on a Sunday it will be a trip to Tesco for for a sandwich and a drink.

Went with a friend for an all day breakfast early afternoon. It's great to get such a lovely veggie breakfast all home cooked. Toast and tea/coffee is included. My only negative comment is the cost of having an extra item e.g. tomato, it's a bit pricy! The staff are very friendly and everywhere is clean. There's a good selection of snack food on the menu. It's very good value.

Simply Delicious catered a light lunch for 67 people for me this past week-end. Without exception everyone raved about the delicious food, the wide variety of savories, sweets and fresh fruit. They also delivered the food to us and provided plates and napkins. Their price was ever so reasonable and the quality very high! Would recommended them to anyone for a meal or for catering. A real pleasure to work with them.

Stopped off in Castle Douglas for breakfast after a couple of nights camping at Brighouse Bay. To be honest we only ate here as it was just about the only place open on a Sunday afternoon! Was not disappointed! Had a large all day breakfast for £7.95 and it was LARGE. Had everything (3 rashers, egg square sausage, tattie scone, hash brown, mushrooms, haggis, beans, tomato) and included a round of toast and fresh orange (or tea/coffee if preferred). Absolutely fab and the only possible criticism was the toast slightly burnt. Will be back next time I'm down that way.

I often visit family in the area and find Simly Delicious a fantastic wee cafe to visit as the atmosphere along with staff, is warm and friendly. The staff make a point of getting to know their customers, which is always a nice change. The food is very reasonably priced and the cafe clean. I would definetely recommend to anybody visiting the town.

Went for a coffee and snack but was very disappointed. Firstly prices are well over priced compared to similar coffee shops or cafes in the area. £3.50 for a rather basic sausage and egg roll that was hardly work £2 and tasted dirty is not ideal. Also had bacon and tattie scone in a roll but bacon was over salted. Waiter went into the toilets with his apron still on and came out wiping his hands down the front of it! Skirting boards were all dirty and noticed ants near blocked off door to rear of cafe. Wouldn't recommend to anyone based on this experience. Place needs a good clean and staff need hygiene training. ..

I visited this cafe for the first time in years last Sunday and had a lovely lunch with friends. The cafe was almost full, probably because it is the only cafe that is usually always open on a Sunday in Castle Douglas. Our group had toasties or soup and cakes and everyone enjoyed their food. If you want a more substantial lunch however, this isn't the place to get it, the menu sticks to basic cafe favourites and all day breakfasts. The decor is a bit dated but the staff are nice and the food is tasty and good value.A lovely wee cafe and worth visiting if in Castle Douglas, though other cafes, such as the Scottish Pantry would be better if you want a larger selection of hot meals.

If I could give more stars I would! We visited here on 2 occasions for food, as a family while holidaying along the road. My partner and I also enjoyed a few drinks in the beer garden on sunnier days. So impressed with the lovely, friendly, helpful staff. The food was really good pub grub, tasty and good value. I should have taken pictures, but I was too busy enjoying it!! Also, a special mention to the lovely wee lady behind the bar who got my rum & coke just right every time (1 ice cube 😉). If we lived locally, we'd be back for sure.
