Had a great meal in this fabulous place. Friendly and efficient service and the food was delicious. Called in by chance and so glad we did. The Cobweb burger was amazing! It was busy with local people too, clearly a popular spot for a fine feed!

Canny little spot this, friendly attentive staff. Food is home cooked, from our experience and some care is taken around this. Good selection ofcakes/pies for desert. Very reasonable in price overall when compared to chain restaurants or takeaways. Well worth a visit and a little bit quirky.

Busy place but the food was worth waiting for - freshly cooked and nicely presented. Well done - we would certainly visit here again.

Need to come back. If we could ever leave

Oh dear. Well, your staff are just lovely. Three stars just for them. One of the friendliest welcomes I’ve encountered anywhere. But congrats for inventing the worst steak pie in scotland: one wee square of pastry afloat like the raft of the medusa on a sea of lumpy grey-brown slop. the weirdly multi-coloured chips looked to be the veterans of several campaigns. None of you would eat that tasteless muck at home; why are you serving it here?

This restaurant is ideal for meals in a casual setting. There is a reasonable menu and the chef went all out to provide me with a gluten free meal. The staff are happy and cheerful and the craic is enjoyable. We went on two consecutive evenings as the food was excellent and portions sizeable.

Brilliant meal and very professionally served by Marissa (hope the spelling is correct). Prawn cocktail was huge. We both opted for chicken Balmoral. Fantastic. Didn't have room for a sweet... Place is very clean and the food home cooked. We will return...

Food was excellent - more than generous helpings which we found hard to finish. Very friendly staff making it a pleasantly relaxing atmosphere and we found it a pleasure to be there. Wanted to come back the following day but unfortunately it was closed. Will certainly go there again on my next visit.

This was our second time visiting the cobwebs restaurant,the food was plentiful,healthy and good, myself and my husband really enjoyed our.meals, will definitely be coming back.

Had an amazing fun and sociable time, such a laugh and banter with the lovely ladies working there, such a sense of humour. Anyway food was excellent, plates hot, food hot. Portions were too big for us! Highly recommended as they changed things to suit our needs..

Very average plain food even though the portions were quite large. My Highlander burger was a bit dry and just tasted of haggis! We tried the local beer and it was uninspiring and expensive.

Gosh, don't know where to start...a fantastic little restaurant. Visited on a Monday evening whilst staying nearby. Totally blown away by the whole experience, pleasant decor, our host Marissa was super friendly and happy to chat. Good menu, good prices, food cooked to order and comes piping hot. Produce was local or home grown. Couldn't fault any of it. Just make sure you're hungry though as the portions are big!!!

Was very impressed with this home-style Scottish restaurant. They got everything right that many fancier restaurants overlook - dishes piping hot, and the plates also, freshly cooked, not overcooked, vegetables. Wide choice menu. High quality ingredients. I highly recommend this restaurant, but ring ahead to book as is not a big restaurant. At time of writing is closed Tuesday & Thursday.

Very confused at the good reviews and unfortunately for us we ate here based on them. Our experience did not match at all. Like one previous reviewer, flies were still in the vinegar pots. A clear sign of basic lack of hygiene. Lack of vegetarian options. Chicken burger was just that, fried chicken in a tea cake. No salad or dressing. I had scampi which was basic frozen food reheated. Drinks were forgotten, tea was insipid. Atmosphere was totally absent. We ate what we could, paid and left. Not for us.

Absolutely fantastic food was lovely never mind the review above. Fruit flys are a massive problem in the summer they live in my vinegar bottles back home the staff sorted it as he said. I think he needs to remember it's rural also in these areas so places may be different back home. Anyway my son had the chicken burger and chips. Loved it home cooked he is fussy! My partner scampi and soup to start he loved it. And he is fussy also. Daughter had chicken strips to start and macaroni from kids menu and chocolate cake ( brilliant price for kids) She ate it. I had chicken strips to start lovely and the steak. Server was lovely. 10/10 will be back next time we are down at caravan. Thank you for a lovely meal in a nice chilled out relaxing atmosphere.

So we were on holiday and decided to eat out. This was first place we seen. We got seated and started looking through menu. Unfortunately the vinegar bottle caught my eye due to a number of flies floating around the top - great for scaring the kids with though. We asked for this to be replaced for which we also got an apology from the polite waitress. Tables felt sticky (so kept elbows off), paper towel holding cutlery was also sticking to table. At this point we did think about leaving but decided to give it a go as it had received good reviews previously and we had ordered some drinks. I moved my foot and felt water splashing everywhere - so I look down and low and behold - a dog bowl full of water was on the floor - just what I’d expect. Looking up towards the bar area - a dog could clearly be seen in kitchen area which was visible from our table. Unfortunately I am not one of the contingent who feel dogs should share the same rights / privileges and hygiene practices as humans within a food serving kitchen. So anyway… ordered Nachos for the kids. About 20 minutes later - could see a member of staff come back from coop with a bag of Doritos ! Surely a coincidence ? We also ordered pizza for the kids. Low and behold, half an hour later seen a member of staff come back from coop with a pizza! Had to wait an hour for the food to be served which was ridiculous - food didn’t taste bad but wasn’t particularly pleasant considering chips were pretty much all undercooked (I noticed this also in another review), and batter on fish was undercooked. All in all, 62 pounds in total which wasn’t worth the money. Food wasn’t terrible but not great, terrible hygiene with flies in the vinegar, and the dog issues. Going out to coop and buying the food we were ordering was also really poor. Won’t be going back. Cobwebs however would probably be an accurate description of the business.

Excellent food at the right price. They even offered to deliver to the local pub where we were having a drink.

We visited here on a Sunday in June whilst staying in Wigtown. The place is lovely & clean and the young waitress was very friendly & welcoming. There were 3 adults in our party and we all enjoyed our meal. We were going to book to come back later in the week (we usually alternate our eating out evenings) but unfortunately they were not open Tues or Thurs evening, however it is on our list to revisit next time we're on holiday here. ps our daughter liked the handwash in the toilet so much that she went on line & ordered some! 😂

Popped in for lunch on a whim. Traditional Scottish lunch fare which was very tasty. Staff were exceptionally friendly particularly I’m assuming the female manager/owner who was a lesson in great customer service.

Lovely little cafe on Wigtown Main Street. I had the homemade vegetable quiche which came with a very generous portion of chips, salad and coleslaw. Only down side was card reader broken but free cash point across the way. Dogs welcome and free treato given :) Definitely recommend. Thank you.

We stopped here to grab a bite and it was so good, it’s really good quality food and the owner was so lovely, we were travelling from glasgow to Dumfries and Galloway and it was such a filling meal, I’d love to come back again

Absolutely lovely staff member on, didn’t catch her name! Accommodating and Welcoming. Lack of vegan options, but I was accommodated with a baked potato and beans which was yummy! Very sweet story behind the name :)

Nice find, very friendly excellent service i had steak ale pie my husband had macaroni cheese beef was tasty and tender macaroni was the also tasty we shared the incredible lemon cheese cake. Definitely visit again

Cobwebs was a lovely restaurant with very good tasty food at good prices. We'll worth a visit if you are in Wigtown. Might be worth booking a table at lunch time as it gets very busy.

What a gem of a place to find. Service was lovely and pleasant and food was good quality traditional fayre which everyone should find something they will enjoy. Toilets were clean and tidy although I think anyone with a wheel chair might have difficulties though. The best thing to do is book a table as we saw several people turned away as it was already booked and we grabbed one of the few unbooked tables.

Been meaning to come here for a while. We had afternoon tea delivered from them during lockdown and it was delicious so looking forward to trying their lunch menu and it didn't disappoint. I had lasagne and himself had chicken strips in pepper sauce. Both came with chips (proper ones), salad and coleslaw, a right plateful. Both were very tasty indeed. We managed to fit in a scone for himself (warm, with butter, jam and cream) and carrot cake for me which came with cream and ice cream! Along with 2 delicious coffees, we were very full and happy. We'll worth a visit, we shall be back.

Lovely little restaurant found on a rainy night in Scotland. We were made very welcome by the staff. Menu consists of good home cooked food, fairly priced. We couldn’t eat pudding so they kindly packaged it up for us to takeaway and it was delicious! Thank you.

A fabulous restaurant in Wigtown. Staff welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. I asked for a ham salad that wasn't on the menu. Very tasty and about 1/2lb ham. My husband had the fish which was that fresh it fell apart...

Dropped in here on a Wednesday evening, when my accommodation let me down. Place was fairly quiet, but the staff were very cheerful and efficient. Menu is fairly standard pub grub / cafe standards, but freshly cooked and a seemed good quality and nicely cooked....

I’ve given Cobwebs 5 star reviews in the past, but today at 2:20pm they had no food, they said they were waiting on a delivery and could offer only drinks and cake. We were extremely disappointed, if true, this is basic stock management, all around us people were eating hot meals, I’ve worked in the industry and this is very poor. The nice lady said ‘we have no chips’ without offering a us menu, so no chips means no sandwiches, no pasta, no rice, no wraps, no soup… sounds more like no chef.

Lovely little cafe with good food and service. Only downside is the limited hours it appears to be open.

We had lunch which was very tasty and the servings are so large we didn't have to eat for the rest of the day! I would not hesitate to recommend Cobwebs to anyone visiting Wigtown.

The 4 of us called in for afternoon light bite. Soup, sweet potato and chilli, absolutely delicious. Panninies served with side salad, coleslaw and lovely homemade chunky chips. Flat white coffee again lovely. Very generous portions provided. Would revisit again.

Arrived here for our evening meal as there was no where else in the immediate area that was open. Host was friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Gammon steak which was very nice, along with chips (some of which were unfortunately not fully cooked). My partner ordered the lasagna, which when it arrived turned out to be quite watery and lacked tomatoes. Not sure if we would eat here again - as mentioned the host was very welcoming it is just a shame that the food let this restaurant done in this instance.

I went here for the first time because of the Book Festival and by the time I left it was full so they have a great location. Which is a shame actually. It’s hard to go wrong with lasagne but they managed it here today...

Absolutely fantastic little restaurant with the friendliest and most helpful staff. We needed gluten free, dog friendly and a table for 6 today and this met all our needs! Went above and beyond even though it was really busy, even going to get some soya milk for our dairy free person too. Nothing was too much trouble, they even brought out a doggie treat for my dog as well which was so unexpected. The food was amazing, really tasty and filling and very hot and the drinks were timed so we still had enough left while we were eating. Overall a great experience and one I would highly recommend.

Lovely little place, food was very nice massive portion sizes. Staff friendly and clearly part of a family concern it clearly showed that they cared about the business.

Visited cobwebs today had been in here before covid and it was ok but today was a different story the waitress was pleasant enough but when I was asked how the food was and replied the macaroni cheese was watery she quickly said I will pass on and walked away the sauce was like soup and the chichen dish my daughter had was the same no alternative offered I had to go and look for waitress to pay bill the manger asked me about food very abruptly said ot charge for dish not an issue she said and walked away the two dishes where obviously previously frozen then zapped in microwave although denied when asked the chips where good and did not pay for 1 dish will not be back very disappointed in this place

We had sandwiches that came with fresh salad and a bowl of chips. Very reasonably priced. The chiller has a selection of very nice looking cakes. I ordered cheese cake with carrot cake topping. It came with a big dollop of fresh cream. It was amazing. The whole cafe was spotless and the staff were very friendly and polite. Would definitely recommend a visit.
