Great friendly restaurant. We were a group of newbies and the restaurant tailored a starter with most of their delicacies. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the welcoming Grill. We'll surely visit again.
Nice place to stop off for coffee and cake. Really friendly and helpful. You can find them on the main street in Newton Stewart. They are closed on Mondays.
The staff were very rude, the food was terrible and some of it unedible. i went there with a couple friends and there was a buzzing of flies around, the sausages tasted frozen and not fresh produce. The floors were unclean and the bathroom was unsanitary, as a visitor to stranraer this was recommended but i will not recommend anyone eating here as it has ruined my afternoon. There is alot of dust and its generally looked unkempt. i feel like i have wasted my money paying for a meal i couldnt finish
Under new management with great hosts, Chris and Jacqui, and an excellent chef. The fire is always lit, the pub has a great selection of real ale with regular guest beers. The wine choice is also great with lovely wines by the glass. But the real star is the food. A great choice of dishes with daily specials. Have eaten there 4 times and I highly recommend giving it a try.
Went yesterday with friends for the senior citizen lunch, £13 for three courses! Amazing value for the quality of lunch we had. So many choices for each course too. We ate in the conservatory looking out to the beautiful grounds on such a nice sunny day so that was a bonus too. Already making plans to return
We eat Indian food everywhere we go, regularly cook it at home and we buy takeaways from different restaurants once a week. It is usually excellent. This place was the first really disappointing experience we’ve had in years. Ordered four main dishes which were all basically the same. Characterless, watery veg and really lacking in flavour, complexity and depth. Texture of each sauce was the same too. Pilau rice was just basmati stained with turmeric and the naan was flat and dense rather than fluffy and light. There is not competition for miles around but seriously… must try harder. Not at all recommended.
Delightful and charming small hotel in a rural setting
Superb dinner and breakfast
Very dog friendly - dogs and their owners will love it
Walks nearby
Super hospitality and warmth
10 lovely rooms to choose from
Highly recommend for a mini break
Fabulously friendly welcome for us and our dog. A great find in a beautiful setting. Good food and great cakes too. And our dog Monty insisted we went back next day - for some more cuddles and sausage!
We booked a table although as it was Tuesday it wasn’t necessary. My husband immediately ordered the steak and stout pie, I had pork medallions.
If you don’t enjoy a plateful- don’t bother. We were hungry and we enjoyed the well cooked well presented meals we got
I started with sweet potato and roast pepper soup- hot hot temperature and my husband finished with a cheesecake pudding.
We were waited on by a most charming young Moroccan man; cheerful and efficient and a pleasure to chat to.
A very pleasant evening out
Amazing mini break at the Waterloo Arms. Nothing is too much trouble. Fish and chips to die for. Martha made a wonderful breakfast and so considerate. Angie the manager so friendly and welcoming. Kieran did a great breakfast
Very friendly staff with a warm welcome. Lunch for 8 was fresh, tasty and great service. Dogs welcome out in the decking if needed. Shop was also full of lovely items.
