Priya in Scottish Borders

The ordering and Collection process was efficient and promising, this impression was then reflected in the excellent poppadams and the chicken and vegetable pakoras for starters But it became a great disappointment as we moved on to the mains, Chicken Chettinad promised great flavour in a rich sauce but was seriously watery with only a hint of the taste promised whilst the Prawn Tikka Masala lacked any of the characteristics of a Tikka Masala we have come to enjoy over many years eating it as a go to dish. We disposed of most of the sauces down the sink once we realised this, quite a waste. We did register our dismay with Priya but were fobbed off with a half excuse about an mis set hot cupboard temperature and a 10% discount on future purchases. We had no intention of a revisit given that we are not local and due to depart in a couple of days, why risk it? We have had many great meals on our travels but this one was a serious disappointment

First time customers. We used the click and collect service and our order was really lovely, a variety of dishes all looked mouth watering and tasted excellent. The meat was beautifully tender and the vegetables definitely all fresh. Cashew rice was amazing as was their breads. In our opinion this is Restaurant quality food being served from a takeaway, such a treat. The quality of their food is high end. 10/10 all round.

Whilst on holiday in the Scottish Borders we came across this Indian takeaway on google and decided to place an order. Our meal was enjoyable and highly satisfying. It was ready on time when collected and everything remained hot until we returned to our cottage. The dishes were all really flavoursome and moreish. Would say it was the nicest Chicken Korma I have had for a long time and my partners Karahi was delish. Naan bread was generous. Would definitely order from Priya again the next time we visit the Borders.

We have used Priya Fine Indian Cuisine several times now and the food has always been wonderful. Based in Earlston they have a good menu and helpful staff at hand too. We have so many favourites from the menu, the chicken tikka masala and bhuna dishes are highly tasty. The food looks very appetising and you can tell that it has been cooked from scratch by how good it tastes. They now offer a click and collect service online so you can choose your day and time. I visited India last year and the food was truly out of this world . I’v been a huge lover of this food for years. Living in the Borders I have struggled to find an Indian restaurant/takeaway that serves anything that resembles authentic Indian food. Bangladeshi and Pakistani fayre were the only options available. About a month ago I was recommended by friends to try the food from Priya In Earlston. I ordered a variety of dishes from their menu (veg and chicken mains) which were in all honestly - superb. The smell, taste, flavour and textures all took me right back to India. The food is authentic and completely fresh. Well packaged and was ready on time. Gold star. Highly recommended

There were many choices close by for Indian food but we chose Priya because of their positive customer reviews and they had a very good website. Our food was ready on time when we arrived to collect. Makhani chicken and Chilli Garlic chicken were delightful. The pieces of chicken were perfectly cooked and we could tell it was good quality meat. We shared rice and bread which were plentiful and well seasoned. The meal was still piping hot by the time we got back to Melrose. A very enjoyable meal, would order again next time we are back in the area.

We were recommended by friends to try Priya. Everything on our order was simply amazing in heat, flavour and taste, special mention to the biryani dish, which was absolutely gorgeous, served with a vegetable curry sauce. It was quite busy when we arrived and our order was ready on time. If you are a lover of Indian food definitely give them a try. Impressed.

Priya has been our 1st choice Indian takeaway for the last 4 years now. They have a wide variety of wonderful curries on their menu with something to suit everyone’s taste. We normally order a selection of both meat and veg mains with sweet nans and mushroom rices. The Jaipur is highly flavoursome, Chicken tikka masala is melt in your mouth, Tarka Dhaal medium spicy and a great healthy option and the korma .... well every bite makes you smile! Consistently excellent food, and they don’t use anything artificial so it looks and tastes exactly how it should. Highly recommended.

Having read excellent reviews about Priya we decided to check it out ourselves and ordered the signature Chicken Makhani and some of the vegetarian main dishes. They were all exquisite and with this takeaway being in close enough proximity to where we live we will definitely be using it again. Full of flavour and spiced just perfectly. A very good menu with all the favourites included with some specials like fish dishes. Online ordering system very convenient and easy to use.

The go to place for Indian Cuisine in the Scottish Borders. We have tried so many places for Indian food and found the best is served at Priya in Earlston. Patia and tikka masala are exceptional. Super quality meat used in the Curries. Delicious every time!

One word best describes this Indian takeaway and that is quality. We travel from Galashiels to their kitchen in Earlston regularly to collect our meals. Everything tastes fantastic and the staff are lovely too. Korma & Rogan Josh with cashew nut rice and garlic naan are our top favs. They locally source their produce which has to be commended.

Was recommended by our friends to give Priya in Earlston a try. We were not dissapointed. Very good sized portions - all served fresh and hot. Nice menu, lots of options from mild to hot. Chettinad was amazing - never tasted a curry like it. Makhani was also very enjoyable and good for somone who likes it mild. We went for the Chapathis - which were really light and delicious. Will be ordering again for sure.

We regularly order from Priya Fine Indian. There is something to suit everyone's taste (good mild options for children like makhani or korma) with a great vegetarian range too (chickpea main course is excellent). The Naan breads are plentiful and very tasty. The staff are friendly & provide really good customer service - always take time to answer any questions we have. The ‘click & collect’ system is user friendly and accepts card payments. Added bonus we have still been enjoying our curry nights during lockdown. :) Highly recommended

Been using Priya since start of the year and they have continued to provide delicious meals for collection through the lockdown. Korma chicken and jalfrezi lamb are the usual choices. Lots to choose from on their menu and always fresh and bursting with flavour - you can taste the quality! Thank you for the lovely meals.

Priya is fantastic. The menu isn’t exhausting like other takeaways, customers are given a good choice with all the favourites available plus their own house specials and signature dishes. The food is cooked fresh to order and the waiting time is reasonable. Everything ordered came hot, fresh, beautifully spiced & nicely presented. We liked that Priya served us ‘authentic Indian food’. Other places that we visited have served us Bangladeshi/Pakistani or Nepalese and claimed it was Indian. By a country mile - the best in the Scottish Borders.

I have used Priya a number of times to cater for events. They have always been very accommodating of my requirements and flexible in their approach. The food is excellent (and plentiful!) always. Will definitely be using Priya again in the future.

Our annual Christmas Buffet. We have used Priya for several years and they always produce top class Indian Cuisine and cater for our vegetarians, gluten free and carnivores with no hassle and really good value. They really take the hassle out of catering at Christmas. Perfect reward after a winter run

Recommended by friends who use this takeaway frequently . Food was hot, fresh and seasoned very well. Collected food was ready on time and customer service was really good on the telephone and when picking it up. Starters (veg pakora and onion bajhees) were delicious and salad was fresh, yogurt sauce was refreshing. Our main courses were both generous sized portions with plenty of chicken and vegetables. Had a good amount of flavour and the sauce was just right. We asked for something mild and something medium and they recommended both perfect choices. My Korma was simply delish!!!! Priya finest rice was a real treat with cashew nuts and the peshwari naan was the best we have eaten from a takeaway/restaurant. A real gem to have this quality of food in the Scottish Borders , we will be back for more. Keep up the good work Priya.

Priya is one of the best Indian takeaway I have had for May years. I’ve been approx 5 times now. Never disappointed. Thank you and never let the quality reduce.

No delivery service as a warehouse on industrial estate. No starters available. Three disappointing meals , as more like a soup! Chicken korma swimming in sauce, that needed to be thicker consistency. Chicken tikka masala was the same, with a dark grey area inside one piece of pale chicken ( therefore not cooked in a clay oven). Pilau rice had very little saffron or spices, chick pea masala burning hot with chilli and again too liquid a sauce. I’ve had much better in Kerala.

First time of using and I am not disappointed! Ordered on the phone from the extensive and interesting menu on their website. Delivered at the time stated. Food was hot and plentiful. Tasted delicious and will definitely use again, plenty more dishes to sample!

Have had delivery from them before no problem but phoned up an order tonight and they are refusing to deliver. They said they can only deliver to houses 7 miles from earlston not the 8 miles to our house despite it only being one further mile up the main road so not even 5 minutes further and we were happy to pay an extra few pounds for the one mile extra. But alas no they were suddenly not interested in our order and quick to get off the phone. They didnt even say sorry ! 😔 Such bad customer service. So had to order from another indian which is 12 miles away in galashiels. Gala tandoori who said they are very happy to deliver to us even though their delivery driver is off work. Now that is above and beyond. Unlike this company 😔

Fantastic food and creative menu. As experienced indian food lovers my family have used the home delivery many times now and have always received great freshly cooked indian food . Excellent vegetarian choice and veggy samosas are to die for. The dal makhani is a particular favourite main. Advise you to order in advance as all food is freshly prepared.

We had been given Priya as a recommendation some time ago. We called for 15 minutes before getting through so this was a good sign. When l got through l placed my order, then was asked if paying by card l was to give all details over the phone or if paying on collection it was cash. I was then asked at what time l would like my order done for, said when would it be ready, reply 1 hour and 35 minutes. Having just opened 15 minutes previous l thought this was a long wait, but we agreed and payed over the phone. Putting the postcode into the sat nav took us to an industrial estate with a sign for Priya. The restaurant is a door with a bell. You are met by a gent who said it would be a couple of minutes then disappears back inside. This explains why it's cash on delivery as you are not allowed inside. Two minutes later my meal was handed over. The meal was Chicken Pakora and Onion Bhaji. For the main it was Chilli Garlic Chicken. The starters were good and not so good, the chicken Pakora was thin strips in batter but over cooked and dry as sticks, most of this was put in the bin. Can't really go wrong with Onion Bhaji's and these were nice and cooked well. The main course was well cooked, chicken was soft and moist the sauce was very tasty and medium hot. Overall l will return but will just stick to main courses just a pity about the Pakora stopping this being 5 🌟

A great little take-away place with friendly service and competitive prices. Everything on my order was delicious and of a decent quantity. I put my order through close to their closing time and they went out their way to accommodate me. Since decent Indian food is hard to come by in this area I'm glad I stumbled across this place on Tripadvisor. Please note it's takeaway/delivery only (no sit-in) and located in an industrial area. Had several the away meals from Primary and never been disappointed, food is always fresh, tasty and portions and menu selection good. They like you to give a bit of notice of you order which is always reassuring as I think it indicates your food is freshly prepared from scratch, and they are accommodating if you want your order tweaked. Worth a try if you are looking for a good takeaway option.

Mi esposa y yo fuimos a Earlston por azar y busqué TripAdvisor para una posibilidad para comer y las críticas de Pryia prometedores. No estamos muy familiarizados con el las costumbres locales en llevar-en-a-hotel, así que fui con mi moto en el lugar (que no es muy pintoresco, pero entonces, ¿por qué? Es una cocina profesional, no es un restaurante romantice! ). Todo estaba oscuro y parecía cerrado, pero por suerte, el hombre de entrega llegó con su coche (el lugar no estaba cerrado), me preguntó si podía dentro pedir algo en la puerta, y podía.

Priya proporcionan una comida para 25 personas en vacaciones en Earlston. La comida era excelente, un montón de gustos interesantes, y siempre que el almuerzo (y, en algunos casos, el desayuno!) para todos nosotros para el día siguiente. Tried Priya last night. They can cook reasonable food and we would order again. What is lovely as another reviewer mentioned is that they deliver which is unheard of in the Borders. We had a good Naan bread, decent rice, and tasty chicken curry, lamb madras, potato and cauliflower vegetarian and some dhal. It is quite expensive but the food was fresh and tasty and had good portions so we probably could have saved £10 as we ordered too much. That being the case a good meal for 4 for £30 delivered would not be bad at all.

Bland tasting and basic, way too expensive, my advice is to go elsewhere. I personally found this to be ridiculously over priced for extremely basic food.

Being rural, good quality takeaways are hard to come by. We have lived in the Borders for 10 years and stumbled across Priya on Trip Advisor for some help for a good Indian take away locally to us. Our takeaway from Priya was simply delicious. Locally sourced ingredients and wonderful authentic tasting food. A bit more expensive but worth every penny. A really pleasant surprise and won't hesitate to recommend. Thank you Priya. We shall be back!

This out of the way takeaway is an absolute find! All freshly cooked, the kitchen a hive of activity. meals amazing, full of flavour. Authentic Indian cooking at it's best.We had chicken chettinad and a lamb vindaloo with alloo gobi side, pilau rice and a large naan bread. We will certainly be going back soon.

Most of the so called "Indian takeaway/restaurants"are basically cook in Bangladeshi style.But Priya although slightly expensive is distinct with authentic Indian flavour.

Delighted to have Priya on our doorstep! This is a takeaway with a difference - the food is so fresh, huge chunks of fish and meat all uniquely flavoured, which sets Priya aside from most other Indian takeaways we've tried. A very varied menu too which we look forward to working our way through.

We are now regular customers of the Priya. The food is fresh and clearly cooked to order and the service is faultless. Best to order well in advance of time now the takeaway is gaining in popularity, but we reckon it's worth the wait!

£8.25 for a chicken korma £7.50 for a madras chicken £2.10 for plain rice £4.00 for a pakora lol yes a pakora I don't mind paying money for good food what I won't do is pay premiums prices because I love Indian food this village doesn't have many eateries and no competition equals black mailing customers into paying top money for sloppy food the only time I have given a negative review The curries was tasteless and watery the nan was doughy and at 90p for a popadom they were saggy not nice ( we get em free) at our local

Didn't much fancy cooking or washing up, so Priya seemed a great alternative.What a feed!! Packed with Eastern flavours, a delicious feast, fit for a king !!!!

Like the title says. I would be highly surprised if anyone leaves a negative feedback on Priya.A delivery service providing high quality Indian cuisine. Hence you can have a hot meal delivered to the comfort of your own home. The ingredients are authentic and fresh. Food is prepared to the true high standard of an Indian chef, this means the food is second to none. All food is freshly cooked hence customers views at the forefront. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. Accessible website and online/PDF menu so you won't have any difficult in choosing the right meal for you. If you want to taste the real food of India then you have to try Priya and you certainly won't be dissapointed.

Very highly recommended. I ordered the Pathia and requested that it not too spicy, which Priya made the Pathia just right. Very decent sized portions with big chunks of chicken and can really taste the difference knowing that it has been freshly made. My wife and I agree that it is the best Indian meal we have had. Just had a delicious take away from Priya and was it tasty!! It was the best Indian we have ever had. From the ordering service to the cooking and presentation I couldn't fault anything about it. We will definitely be regulars to this Gem!!

Just got a take away. Fabulous service. Shane they don't deliver to galashiels but they did meet at garage in earlston which was fabulous. Food is amazing. It's the best I've had. And it was still pipping hot by time I got home with it. Highly recommend it.

Booked Priya for a running club function in our clubrooms. With 40 hungry runners to feed after a run and some specialist dietary requirements to cater for Philip and his team at Priya delivered a great function with piping hot freshly prepared food in ample quantity, professionally prepared and served at a reasonable cost. Cannot recommend them highly enough for a function and thanks to the team for sponsoring the prizes for our event. Lots more people in Lauder now know about Priya as a result of our really successful event.

Perfect Indian meal. The real deal. Bhajis and pakoras the best I've tasted. Would recommend their "speciality".Everything is freshly cooked so don't mind waiting.Would definitely recommend.

Priya had been recommended to us, we are in Lauder and knew they did not deliver here yet, however, upon calling at 5.00pm to place quite a big order for 6.30pm they agreed to deliver. They arrived on time and the food was hot and really fresh. Everything was delicious with a range of meat and vegetarian dishes all being equally good. The Naan Bread was exceptional, in fact, I would go as far as to say everything was exceptional. First Rate. We will definitely be using this service regularly. I hope they get enough business to make regular deliveries to Lauder.

I have been lucky enough to visit India, had Indian meals in the West Midlands. My meal from here surpassed them all.

We held a men's evening where around 14 men enjoyed some of the best food around, well cooked and prepared, with a great variety of tastes from mild to hot. There was ample quantities to fill even the largest appetites and everything seemed to be authentic Indian. Priya is not a restaurant, but caters for functions like ours and we will be having them back for another funtion in the near future.

The food is ok But this place is not a restaurant It's a takeaway expect a 45 min min waiting time on a Saturday The food is good If it's not been laying around

Friends and I have really enjoyed our home delivered meals from Priya. Freshly cooked, deliciously tasty food. Try the peshwari naan and the onion bhajis...they are the best I have ever tasted. Thankyou Priya for bringing such wonderful Indian food to the Borders.

This is a meal delivery service rather than restaurant but they can cater for special occasions and outside events, as well as provide delicious take away food. The food arrived piping hot and labelled clearly, no greasy bags, all very inviting. The plain naan I ordered is the best I ever tasted! Yummy! We also had chicken Korma and plain rice. The Korma was lovely and creamy, and the rice portions generous and cooked to perfection, so fluffy. It all felt like every care had been taken to make it all delicious. I was confident also of the ingredients and have eaten some very suspect things in the past from other indian outlets. However this was the real thing, meat tender and tasty. They pride themselves on fresh, locally sourced ingredients which really enhances the flavours. The onion bhajis are also beautiful, light batter and crispy, as are the poppadums. I am looking forward to my next meal from Priya and hope to also use them for special occasions when I have guests.

Not really a restaurant, home delivery service only, so sit back and wait for your meal to arrive. We used them for a dinner party, so ordered a good selection of dishes from the excellent menu. The menu is well presented with clear accurate descriptions. The food arrived well packaged and on time. The portions are good sized, with everything beautifully cooked.

L'agnello si scioglieva in bocca, il pollo era buonissimo, le spezie di ogni piatto avevano un balance perfetto...niente cose unte, pesanti e "inchiummanti"...tutto assolutamente perfetto.
