Arranged to meet a friend for lunch and we were very impressed from start to finish. We were greeted by Courtney who showed us to comfortable chairs beside a warm radiator. This was welcome because Storm Jocelyn was brewing outside. She took our drinks order and brought the menu board which was extensive. She explained that we could order full portions or smaller ones. We both decided to have the breaded haddock, one full portion and one smaller. We chose well because we could find no fault with our meal. Fresh haddock well cooked is hard to beat and it was. The chips were perfectly done and home made coleslaw and salad were delicious. We both agreed that we had to post a review with our positive thoughts. Well done Lauderdale hotel and Courtney. We’ll be back!

My husband and I ate here today. We were greeted by 2 lovely waitresses who were so friendly. Menu was written on a chalk board which was brought to the table, great choices with small portions available. My husband had breaded mushrooms to start then scampi for main. I had lasagne. Portions were reasonable size. We both had a sweet but were really full after. Food with 1 glass of wine and 1 pint of lager came to £57, excellent value.

Popped in here as we were looking for lunch on our journey up to St Andrews. It was such a great surprise. Our reception was warm and welcoming, food lovely and clearly freshly made to order. Husband and i had salads where father in law had scampi and chips. Salads were lovely with al sorts of interesting ingredients rather than the pile of lettuce you quite often get! Scampi and chips also went down very well. Landlord also told us we could have small versions of everything if we wanted so we felt like it was about providing us a nice meal/service rather than just about making money. Also said they had no issues if we wanted to leave something off or add something on to what was described on the menu. Unfortunately, we traveled back to England on a different route, but did debate making a significant detour to call back in! Would certainly recommend a meal here

My wife and I have just ate some of the best food we have had in ages I had Pork in a crRamy mushroom sauce with black pudding fritters. This meal is to die for. My wife had Scampi.. Now I hear you say that scampi is run of the mill.. Not here it was so so tasty and the coleslaw it came with was amazing. I could not eat another THING but my wife went for the upside down pineapple cake 🎂 with ice cream. My wife is now in cake heaven... AMAZING

We went to meet a friend who is a regular and whom my wife has not seen recenttly. The place is nicely decorated and the staff welcoming. There is a reasonable choice on the menu and the prices are fair. We had a nice lunch with no big waitrs for service nor any rush. We would eat there again. Apart from anything else it is spacious and we felt safe.

We have stopped at this place during the busy Easter weekend. Wooden tables outside full with peopke drinking and enjoying the sunshine. Inside there is a bar area and also a restaurant area. The menu s very traditional good food. We had the fish and chips and the fish was flaky fresh and very big. Also sampled some of the deserts: the easter egg cheescake was amazing and the bread and butter pudding was awesome and the portion was huge. Staff was very nice, we did nothave to wait a lot for our food. Good value for money.

Dogs welcome that's why we chose here. Glad we did. Quality food with big portions at good prices. I had mussels to start from the specials board..Superb. fish and chips for my main, yay! A huge thick piece of fresh haddock just perfect! My brother had the baked cod off the specials board and I may even have been slightly jealous it looked so good too and he said it was amazing. It's not fancy but it's very, very good for a nice meal

How refreshing to find a place that is so welcoming, with good food at a fair price. Clearly the young owners are working hard and have a very positive attitude. We wish them every success. We would certainly eat there again.

We were renting a cottage close by and had dinner here twice during our stay. The food was great, we had absolutely no complaints. I expected a very limited menu (like the other pub in the village) but was pleasantly surprised by the amount of choice. Would highly recommend it for a meal or just a drink. Dog friendly too. Staff were all very nice and extremely welcoming.

Sunday evening meal enjoyed by four of us. Lots of choice. All very tasty and of ample size. Chose this venue in preference to the Black Bull Hotel down the street. No regrets at all. Great atmosphere and attentive staff. 10/10

As we were renting a nearby cottage this was our first port of call in the village. After the superb customer care we received, it became a daily visit. Too windy to sit outside we asked if our dog was allowed in at lunchtime. As there was a wedding function due it would have been easy to turn us away, but instead the sitting room was turned into a dining area for us. Brilliant. The menu is standard pub grub, very nicely done. Chips were a cut above, very good indeed.Subsequent visits the sun shone brightly so we were able to use the beer garden, and got speaking to the friendly landlord.Highly recommended.

We have family in Lauder and while in Lauder decided to have a meal out. Visiting in the afternoon we were advised to book a table for the evening as it was going to be busy with it being a bank holiday.Returning later for our meal I have to say the staff here are friendly and efficient, we sat outside in the sunshine, ordered and were subsequently told our table and food were ready. The food on offer is above average pub fayre, very nice, nothing to complain about from the five of us.At one point we dropped a mobile phone on the table, a member of staff heard the bang and dashed over a cloth in each hand ready to mop up any spills, there weren't any but you get the impression nothing is too much trouble for the staff here.

Met a friend for lunch and decided on this Hotel as we had not tried it since it changed hands. Loads of parking and easy access. Warm dining room cum lounge bar with plenty of light. Friendly courteous service from start to finish. The menu is standard stuff cooked properly and served attractively. Everything we had was tasty and properly served. We had soup, chicken goujons 9outstanding) followed by steak pie, fish and chips and lasagne. Rounded off with ice cream and an eye watering cheese board. Great value and well worth stopping off here for a bite.

We have not been to the Lauderdale for a number of years because the food was rubbish, But as it is under new management we decided to give it a try, unfortunately nothing has changed ordered two fish and chips and two fish pie, the salad and the coleslaw arrived on a very hot plate with the battered fish on the top, the fish pie, well there is more fish in a goldfish bowl we would say % 90 was potato, so will not be back , o and by the way very slow service. and not cheap.

Travelling home from a wedding in Scotland we stopped at the Lauderdale Hotel for lunch and were disappointed to see it was busy and that they were expecting a large party, the disappointment did last long.Quickly a table was found and the two staff on duty were very efficient, menus and drinks promptly provided, the soup (Lentil) was hot and tasty, were went for the roast which was Lamb, well cooked and a good portion. My wife's only complaint was that of no Yorkshire Pudding, seriously she doesn't normally like roast potatoes and no option was offered.Normally a fiend for sticky toffee pudding, I managed to resist, this is our first visit to the Lauderdale Hotel, despite passing often. We won't pass again lunch was certainly worth it and the staff were excellent.Good parking, definitely a good choice.

A warm welcome from a very helpful lady who was a star multitasker (she did the drinks, took the food order and served the food as well as delivering good humour). The menu choice was broad but not to much so, and with some interesting specials. Ali all a most convivial dinner experience.

We were welcomed by the owner who was very cheerful and pleasant indeed - a full breakfast for the four of us was served with cereals, fruit juice, toast, bacon eggs, haggis, tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms, black pudding, tea and coffee all cooked to order, served promptly and nicely presented. Go here now before everyone else figures out what amazing value this place is! The drive through the Scottish countryside is stunning (a half-hour drive from the railway stop at Galashiels). The owners have created something special that I simultaneously want to keep to myself and share with the world. Oxana's hosting (and baking and wine-pairing) skills mean you are welcomed with friendly service, clear explanations of the wine pairings and amazing, sweet treats. We have been twice - once in September and once in November - and from beginning to end, our glasses were never empty, and we were treated to amazing service. Now, the food is really something to talk about. Bryn is doing something special here. The food is fresh and innovative while remaining down to earth and approachable. A simple parsnip soup sent our table to heaven with its perfect spice. We had pork belly with the crunchiest crackling and lentils with vegetables that were flavoured so beautifully I couldn't tell what was in them. Blue cheese with truffled honey had all of us begging for more. Every bite is a delight, and some of it was items I wouldn't normally order. This food, this place, is truly something special, reflecting our Borders community and some of the best food in Scotland. Go now!

Stopped in for some lunch today. Friendly service with a good and varied choice of menu. Offers half portions of meals if more suitable. Brilliant value. Hot and cold options available. Felt like the teapot was bottomless, think it was 3 cupfuls in total!

Wonderful food and so nicely presented and the young man serving was so polite and professional. Only negative was the disappointing vegetarian options for my sister. Macaroni cheese is more suited to a cafe menu. But a lovely evening none the less.

Got to say, I’ve never had a bad meal or experience in here. The ham hock and lentil soup as amazing, the steak and mushroom pie was outstanding. It was packed with lean steak in a lush, beefy broth type gravy. Great fies, a la dente peas and everything was piping hot and cooked to order. Even the plates were warm, which I always appreciate. The staff were great and the owner is a real friendly guy. If yer heading North or South on the A68, make sure this is yer pit stop, even for a coffee and cake. Made me smile today whilst I was eating, it was that good. It looks like a greasy spoon if you pass it on the road, but it’s not! It’s on a par with very good pub grub, and it’s really clean inside, as is the kitchen which I passed on the way to use the bathroom.
