The best restaurants in Fort William and Ardnamurchan Highland Highlands and Islands

We went to get some lunch after we finished climbing Ben Nevis! Fantastic foods and such a comfortable place to relax and take in the warmth of fire wood! I had an entree haggis and venison burger main which was a super delicious and generous portion. Clean bathroom and helpful staff. We traveled from overseas and couldn't call the taxi on our mobile but the staff helped call one for us to get back to the train station. Definitely recommend for food and drinks if you are in the area!

This was the highlight of Fort William. Had a wonderful breakfast there with muesli and a Matcha Latte! Both super delicious, service was outstanding, atmosphere was nice!

Visited for afternoon tea being recommended by friends and family who have stayed. We had similar reaction to them, albeit without experience of the bedrooms. Fantastic service, warm ambiance in a historic setting of great beauty but somewhat living off past glories, inside and out signs of update/modernisation needed. Lovely food for tea and my pot of Marsala chai was the best I’ve ever had. Our thanks to the team.

First time visiting Scotland. I'm from Cascais, Portugal however we live in north London. Visiting Scotland for the week. Tired of the same old British pub food this find was heaven! Just off Fort William, exquisite views to lake and mountains. Fantastic seafood, crab, mussels, fish pie with attentive, fast service. Very helpful and good value when compared to other restaurants in the region. Wine list well above average with good pairing for seafood and good standard. Something to repeat next time for sure! We ate here last night, 2/11. We believe this is a temporary venue for this fabulous restaurant whilst their other premises are being renovated. We were warmly greeted and seated in a busy restaurant that had a warm and friendly feel. All the food sounded delicious especially the specials. Of the three of us I was the only one to have a starter - the hot smoked salmon tart - delicious! Crisp pastry, tasty hot smoked salmon and rich veloute. My dad the venison which was rich and soft - melt in your mouth tenderness. Whilst my husband a generous portion of seafood pasta - it was tasty, hot and very fresh - he said it was amazing. I had the monkfish special - loin wrapped in Parma ham with scallops. Again delicious! Service was the right mix of friendly and competent. A lovely restaurant serving very delicious food. We will visit again if we are up in Fort William.

The food here was absolutely amazing worth every penny

We had an amazing 3 courses. The meal was one of our best on our trip to the highlands. Beautifully cooked venison and Lamb and an amazing cheese board. We made a booking to ensure we got a table and I’m so glad we did.

A wonderful location for dining. We came for dinner. Limited menu and apparently it was too difficult to swap chips for potatoes . Very poor.

Great wee coffee shop, food was really good from hot rolls to soups and wraps and delicious range of cakes. Also liked the fact they provide a pot of hot water with your pot of tea so you can top up! Staff are friendly and welcoming and the gallery is an added bonus if you want to view and purchase a beautiful painting.

Old Pines, Spean Bridge was a charming, quiet retreat. On arrival, a pygmy goat basked in the sun on top of a picnic table, outside of the dining room. Wandering goats and geese provided comic elements. A spectacular view of Ben Nivis and the surrounding moors filled the floor to ceiling dining windows. 5 course dinners, generous Scottish breakfasts and comfy beds provided the perfect decompression from a hectic schedule. Across the lane and over the style, a walk through the moors offered surprises with wandering sheep, lively river waters and an unexpected view of an old stone viaduct destroyed in the clearance disputes. Emerging near Spean Bridge village we walked to the Commando Memorial and looped back on the moor trail to the Old Pines. A lovely, slow paced retreat.

We had: the award-winning steak and black pudding pie, scotch pie, and soup of the day. To be honest, it seems like all restaurants / food places are "award-winning". The food was decent - nothing special. The customer service was pretty sub-par - it did feel quite rushed and not smiley. However, it is a convenient place to grab a quick bite when walking around Fort William.

Another excellent breakfast, great value. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Service is relaxed. It's an informal place, there's no maitre d' or fancy meals, it's a lovely local cafe that we've been visiting for years. Staff (and possibly owners) have changed in that time but we know what we're getting.
