Very friendly and attentive. The mussels and fish and chips were extremely tasty. Would go back at any time.

Honestly, the best mac and cheese, and the best fish and chips, that we've ever had. The mac and cheese was not your everyday pub grub type meal - it was saucy, creamy, with crispy onion flakes and a really flavoursome cheese sauce. The fish and chips were just right - the fish was flaky and not too greasy, nice and crisp, and the fries had just the right amount of salt. I have to say that these were the main vegetarian / pescatarian options we noticed apart from a courgette risotto (vegan) which we didn't try, so if those dishes don't appeal to you and you're veggie/pesce then there might not be a meal for you. But for us it was absolutely worth it. The restaurant itself is really lovely and quirky. It has some beautiful maps, old books and other decorations. We were seated relatively late in the evening with no issues, and had friendly attentive staff. Absolutely lovely dining experience, would recommend.

It was a great dinner. We ordered haggis, sea bass, mussel and chickpea. They all tasted great. The restaurant was also very clean and warmly decorated. It was a great dining experience!

We got a table for dinner (they accept walk-ins, it doesn't appear they accept reservations). The food was great, comparable to other places in town, but maybe a bit more than we were expecting to pay. The mussels were excellent and the Korean Chicken sandwich was really good. Portion sizes were generous. Service was great and we felt like they did a good job not rushing us out the door despite how busy they were.

Absolutely amazing restaurant - very good service, really nice atmosphere, food was very well cooked and Paul was very hospitable.

It is worth waiting 15 minutes at the door. There is a very fast and friendly service. The mussels are highly recommended, along with a glass of Scottish beer. Portions are large.

We knew we will wait a line for this dinner but it is totally worth it. We got mussels, sea bass, loaded shrimp fries… all of them top notch! The portions are large, service is kind and helpful. We waited for around 15 mins, we were the fourth table in line.

Delicious food, friendly staff, definitely recommended when staying in Fort William. There is often a queue outside after 6pm.

I can’t say I expected to queue so long outside a Scottish restaurant, but the quality of this place explains it! We were the last people to be served, and we got there at around 8pm, so be prepared to get there before then at peak tourist season if you want a table. The food was amazing and worth the wait. I especially recommend the wee haggis. The service was attentive, friendly and personable. Well worth the trip.

Extremely good food for a reasonable price

Perfect welcome and service. The menu is simple and there is something for everyone. We ordered starters and main courses, the flavors are good but it is very very fatty. A layer of oil would really need to be removed… A big plus for the very adorable waitresses.

A pleasant discovery, after an exhausting search (the others were all full) we got in line and after about 15 minutes they made us sit at the table, the service was very fast, the food very good and the place is very nice. A beautiful discovery and an excellent restaurant.

Absolutely amazing food full of flavour nicely presented and good portion size at a very reasonable price, the owner also creates amazing art in the shop just up the street called haggish house extremely impressive and beautiful.

You can find better fish and chips in the netherlands than here. The stew was very good though. Boring afmosphere

Absolutely delicious gluten free options!! We came here twice during our brief stay in Fort William! Loved the calamari, the desserts, and the bread.

Won't take bookings!!!! What good is that to anyone???? Unless you like standing in the rain with your young family waiting for 40 minutes for a table!!! LOL, good one. Your flippant response just confirms that you manage to have enough passing trade to not care about customer service. I stand by my original review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Food was lovely, I would’ve liked the sweet potato chips to be in smaller pieces though, that way they could be made crispier almost like the skinny fries! Also went back to pay (again) as the first time didn’t work (but neither we or the waitress realized until I arrived at my hotel and saw the bank app notification) and they were very kind to give a small bottle of prosecco as a thanks for coming back :)

Super recommended. One of the best restaurants in Fort William. They have a variety of food, combining typical Scottish dishes but with a modern touch, and more international dishes. The very cozy atmosphere. They don't reserve, you have to queue but it goes fast. If you are not looking for a pub atmosphere and want something more modern, it is your place.

I arrived at 1:20pm on a Wednesday, their hours online say they're open until 2pm and then close until 5pm. However, they had placed a closed sign on the door with customers still inside. I'm sure there's a valid reason, but I find it frustrating when I specifically made the trip here for lunch as I'd heard good things about their gluten free options.

Very good food, soup and mac n cheese was very good. Top price/performance ratio. Atmosphere was very pleasant and quiet despite a lot of hustle and bustle. Service was too accommodating; asked 4 times in 5 minutes if we were still eating or if they could take it away. Were asked too many times that it became quite uncomfortable. Otherwise very good!

Lovely place. No reservations, be prepared to wait outside for a bit. But it's worth it - lovely atmosphere, great friendly service, and the food is great and quite clever somehow. Definitely a cut above the other places in the area. Clearly labelled options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc.

Honestly not 4.6 star worthy. The Fish and Chips were bland, no real flavor. I had the Korean Fried Chicken sandwich and the batter was bland with no real flavor. A bit dissapointing for a place that's rated 4.6

This place was recommended by our B&B host, and we're happy to say that we've had a great dinner. Chicken for me, seabass for my lady, and a great cranachan for dessert! We eat well, the team is very nice... A true good place to eat!

We came in for lunch just after they opened at 12:05 so we were the first in, service was wonderful every member of staff was really friendly and attentive. I had the salmon salad and buttermilk chicken and my partner had the halloumi and fish and chips, all of them were delicious. The presentation was amazing and all of the food was prepared perfectly. The restaurant itself is lovely and cosy, it’s smaller than I expected so I imagine they get full quite quickly. We had a lovely experience and would definitely come back. Thank you to all the staff

What's not to like? lovely staff, great food and a good drinks list. The food was very tasty, with large portions, however self control is required as not leaving room for an exceptional Cranachan dessert would be a huge mistake. ! There is no booking system but there is a small awning to provide limited cover. Well worth the effort !

Very famous restaurant in the center of Fort William. It is not possible to book in the summer months so I advise you to go early because there is a queue. Very kind staff and excellent cuisine. We had a starter for two (Haggis), a delicious hamburger, an excellent salmon and a dessert pudding. Bill in Scottish standard (£60-70 per couple)

My wife and I went there and we shared Korean Fried Chicken sandwich and extra cheesy Mac & Cheese. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was cozy and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely go there for a great meal. On the wall in the enclosed photo they have a map of where visitors have come from.

Extraordinary and fresh mussels! One of the best I have ever eaten. Very good haggis and cranachan. Nice and smiling staff. All in reasonible price. Fantastic experience, highly recommend this restaurant!

Amazing Langoustines and Fish & Chips!

We didn't particularly like the food, the salmon was really too salty and there was too much raw onion in the salad. Other than that, the environment is nice and the service is excellent. Be careful, you cannot book and after eight o'clock in high season you can queue for a few tens of minutes to get in.

After queuing up with many others, we had a lovely meal. Excellent fish & chips and mussels. Good service Restaurant does get very busy so expect a wait. Toilets not very clean would be my only criticism

The owner could not be kinder. 4 of us were dropped off to get dinner on a Friday night with less than 1 1/2 hours to get dinner. One of our friends is gluten free so we chose the Geographer. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate our time frame and we can't thank him enough.

Very tasty food in a cosy restaurant. We had bruschetta, chicken burger, halloumi and coconut soup. The children's special requests were perfectly catered for. The staff were attentive and caring. We had a very nice chat with the owner himself, including recommendations for excursions. A place to feel good.

Arrived with family for lunch at 12 p.m. Impeccable service and very attentive to children (provision of paper and pencils). We quickly received our drinks and food. The wee haggis and the fish & chips were very good. We can only recommend!!! Little extra for the decor which is very pretty!

The table reservation system has not yet reached the owner of the store. As a result, you may find yourself. Waited in line in front of the restaurant for over 30 minutes. This would be easy to solve with a reservation system. That would then be customer-friendly as opposed to profit-maximizing.

Absolutely worth the wait! Beautiful decor and friendly, attentive staff. The staff had no trouble at all amending our mussels to a dairy-free recipe, and were able to inform us of all the meals on the menu that were dairy-free or could be made so. The mussels were absolutely delicious! It's a beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere - not to be missed if you're visiting Fort William.

This was our second time eating at the Geographer - we returned as we had very fond memories of our first time in 2022, especially their fish & chips. A great first experience is always hard to match, as you expect the next one to be as good. It was absolutely the case. Lovely people, great service, and everything we had was delicious. In addition, the price is more than fair. The only thing I would change would be the size of the portions - we did not manage to finish, despite how excellent it was :) Also, and this is just as a suggestion - some jazz would play nicely with the atmosphere. But the music is agreeable and not too loud as it is. Note that there will likely be a queue when you get there, but the waiting is soon forgotten as you enjoy the food.

To get a good impression of the national food, I highly recommend Fish and chips.

We had a pretty long wait, about 30 minutes. It was totally worth the wait. I had the lobster and mussels, it was delicious. The Mac and cheese was rich and filling. The loaded shrimp also got rave reviews. The desert was delicious. The staff was fantastic.

We had a larger than normal party (5 people), and the owner was gracious and ensured we were seated together without an extensive wait. The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was inviting. If I'm that way again, I will definitely eat here.

We had a good meal at The Geographer on our only night in Fort William. We chose it based on the Google reviews. The food and wine was very good. The service was also very good all round, however we did feel there was a rush to get us through and out so they could fit another few people in. Not the end of the world, but we would’ve liked a little more relaxed dining experience.

Very nice location and amazing food!

The Geographer is a special restaurant. You can't pre-book here, you just have to show up and show up early as from its opening time of 5pm on my visit there was already a queue. There's a good reason for that. The professional staff are backed up by exquisite food. I opted for the calamari as a starter which was excellent and the special was langoustines which were perfectly presented, cooked in a garlic butter and served with a side salad and fries, the flavours were superb. The ice cream sundae is highly recommended for desert also. The only recommendation for improvement would be the restrooms which are in need of modernisation but it's a small issue in what is otherwise an outstanding restaurant that is a real gem. If you're in the area make a visit a priority.

Fantastic experience, staff friendly and attentive. Main meals and desserts were tasty and portion sizes were large. Particularly enjoyed the Venison and black pudding stew and the cranachan dessert.

This restaurant is tiny and always packed! They don’t take reservations and typically only have 2 or 4-top tables available. In the off season it’s not hard to get in, but expect a line during the busy summer months. The fish and chips are some of the best I’ve had, as well as the mac and cheese.

Food and service was average. Mac and cheese was nice, mussels were tiny and the sauce was too runny, squid was not the best, just soggy rings))) sweet potato chips were too chunky which made them like boiled chunks of sweet potato, they have to be fries, is a must. Wee haggis was very delicious, I could eat that again. Staff is not attentive to the basics, like offering you a new drink or taking away empty bottles or giving you a new glass with new ice, etc.

Great service with amazing staff. Our servers were excellent. Food was not knock out of the park but above average. Enjoyable for pub style if you want to sit back and enjoy a nice meal around nice people.

OMG delicious! My husband had board special, whole lobster and I had hot smoked salmon and salad, he had the best ice cream sundae of his life, I had raspberries, whiskey cream swapped out for ice-cream, oats, honey and a dram. This was a perfect meal. The queue was up the road waiting for a table, so dine early. Really good !

After finishing the West Highland Way and trying the fish and chips at every stop, I can confidently say this was the best of the bunch right at the end. A light tasteful batter with fish that melted on the tongue. Nice cozy atmosphere, friendly to packers.
