Fabulous restaurant!!! Warm welcome and beautiful decor. The mussels as a starter were delicious, the Mac and cheese was delicious! The dessert was also very good. Great place!

Ten out of ten for this wonderful restaurant. Friendly welcome, professional staff- wonderful food and service second to none. We felt so fortunate to have arrived early and had a marvellous dinner here.

One of the best places we visited on the planet. The decoration and atmosphere great, staff friendly as hell and the most important thing, the food, o u t of t h e w o r l d. Like I told the waiter, the most delicious food in Scotland. We’ve only visited once and not a second time, since we got sick on our second and last day. I nearly cried that I did not eat the fantastic calamari’s another time😢. Thanks again for giving us the chance to try your place - an experience we will never forget.

Great atmosphere, service, and most importantly great food. It's popular for a reason. The Venison stew and Seabass dishes were extremely enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and made eating here a fun experience for my wife and me. This place is worth the wait if there's a queue.

KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS INFORMED GEOGRPHER I am sure I would I adding to the many brilliant reviews that this place seems to have received, however, when we visited it, they were closed. This was both disappointing and annoying as, having checked the website, they should have been open. (We visited on Monday 12th May at around 6pm. They should have been open at 5pm according to their website). Furthermore there was no indication of opening hours or any reason posted as to why they weren't open.

Lovely little restaurant with extremely kind and good service and fantastic food. The roasted garlic tomato soup was really good, and the mac n cheese was extremely generous and well-seasoned. I would go back here anytime. The men's toilet was clean but a bit worn. A renovation would be nice.

Extraordinary hospitality. One member of our group has a long list of food allergies and the response to her needs was professional, knowledgeable, and caring. The food was delicious and the warmth of the staff was absolutely top notch. A memorable meal, for certain.

The food itself was tasty, but it felt very rushed. Once you had finished your glass, someone would be there within a few seconds to take it away. The service is a bit overzealous. Before we ordered, we were already asked 3 times if we wanted to order. There is no such thing as a nice, quiet meal at this restaurant. But if you want a quick, simple and delicious meal, I can recommend this restaurant. Price/Quality ratio is excellent.

Fantastic food in a nice atmosphere with excellent service. Popped in here for a meal after reading the good reviews - it lived up to expectations. It can get busy, but for good reason.

We were satisfied, the service was fine and very nice. The only annoying thing is that no reservations are accepted in high season and you then have to wait in front of the door to get a table. On our first visit, 14 people were waiting in front of us. We left again, I'm not going to stand outside the door for more than an hour.

Had a very lovely meal here. Everything was excellent and the sweet potatoes were a particular standout. Great atmosphere and service as well! There was a short wait in a line outside which seemed to be consistently there the whole night, but did move quickly and is understandable given how quality the meal was.

In Fort William, this restaurant is worth a visit. While there is often a wait, the quality of the food and the attentive service justify the wait. The dishes are excellent and the service is impeccable. Advised.

Great food and service. The venison stew was to die for and the Haggis delicious as well. Get there early if you can, though, as there can be a line.

Highly recommend the local mussels which were so hearty!! One of the best we’ve ever had. Also discovered Cranachan, a Scottish dessert - a great discovery!! I would advise to book in advance - we were lucky enough to just wait 10ish minutes :)

One of the best places to eat in Fort William. A bit of wait outside but the wait is worth it. I had the wee haggis, which was delicious. I would come back just to have it again. The venison casserole was very rich and fulfilling, with the black pudding that add an extra. The place offers really nice local beers.

Fantastic restaurant. Great menu choices. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Starter, main & dessert were all brilliant. Didn’t wait more than 10 minutes for each course to come out. Delightful atmosphere too. Would recommend to anyone!

Seriously, this is the best food I’ve had in the UK! It was so wonderful, it was even ranked among the top restaurants I've eaten at before! It’s so delicious that people can’t stop eating it. I think I will miss this taste very much when I go back🥹 The mussels are very delicious, the venison is tasteless and tender, the seabass is very refreshing, and even the side dishes on the side are not sloppy. I feel that leaving a bite is a waste! Dip the remaining soup into the toasted crispy bread and enjoy it. It is really comfortable. I recommend that people who come here and even those who come to the UK try it if they have the opportunity!

Shared a large bowl of local mussels, which were absolutely gorgeous. A glass of Chardonnay to accompany. What a perfect meal.

The Geographer is one of the best restaurants we tried during our stay in Scotland. The grilled sea bass fillets with potatoes were really excellent. Fast service. On the other hand, the restaurant does not take reservations, whether by telephone or even directly on site. So it’s first come, first installed.

The food is so good you wouldn't know it's all gluten-free. Truly delicious meals and a joy to find a restaurant free from the possibility of gluten cross-contamination. The restaurant also has a lovely atmosphere with the owner's own paintings on the walls.

The food was really delicious!! I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s good. I was extremely impressed with their kind service and the quality of food. The staff were polite and very attentive. It’s 10/10!! Quality of the food was also good. I particularly loved the muscles!!! So fresh and so delicious!! My new favorite!!! The smoked salmon salad was also extremely Smokey and flavorful. We also tried the desserts and loved it as well! Must eat here!! Oh and the vibe of the restaurant was also top notch! Very lively and loved the hanging vines from the ceiling.

Super recommended!! Service of 10, very friendly and attentive. We had to wait 15 minutes because they don't take reservations and it was full! Spectacular food (we ordered Seabass, mussels and squid), and everything was spectacular. There are also some options for vegetarians and vegans! Very good craft beers! 100% would return.

We have eaten at The Geographer twice within the last 2 months and on both occasions the food has been great. The waiting staff were really friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was able to cater for my children's multiple food allergies and they loved the food on both occasions. Very much recommend a visit for anyone visiting Fort William.

Really enjoyed dining here, we did not have a booking so waited outside. We were updated throughout our stay outside and staff were great. When inside the food was great,the service was great and really enjoyed my visit! Will be back when I return!

Great wee restaurant on the High Street. The staff are very friendly and gave me a warm welcome. The food could be described as pub grub but with a twist. I had the red pepper and coconut soup followed by the Chicken and Pesto burger - so good !

Amazing Fish! I had the Fish&Chips and I mean.. just look at the pictures! Usually, at most places, you eat like 60% batter and 30% fish, here it’s a beautiful thin and crispy batter and the fish tasted so fresh, delicious!

The service was very pleasant and the interior of the restaurant was very nice, but the food left much to be desired. It’s basic to get by. I had the fish and chips, they were frozen fries It's more fast food than restaurant food.

Fantastic meal, service, and atmosphere. Can't fault it. The staff were all amazing 👏 I had the prawns and feta followed by the sea bass. Lovely big portions, delicious flavours, and everything cooked to perfection. We hadn't booked, had a relatively big table, and 1 wheelchair user. They were very accommodating. They got a ramp for us and an easy access table. Several people in our party have Tourette's, the staff were all accepting, understanding and engaged in appropriate conversation to ensure we were well looked after. Even when there were coprolaic or inappropriate tics no-one batted an eye and we were made to feel so welcome in this inclusive environment. Thank you all so much for a fantastic meal and lovely evening.

Very friendly service, laid back pub/restaurant, cosy. The food was delicious, we had the soup of the day, the venison stew and the veggie casserole and all of them were delicious. If you are looking for a healthier option than the one offered in pubs, this is the place for you.

I tried the wee haggis for the first time ever and it was delicious. The mussels were really good too. Also the Geographer hamburger was one of the best burgers I have tried. Dined here on a Wednesday night. Food was fresh and delicious. We ordered the fish and chips, mussels (starter serving was massive!), and the calamari. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

We had haggis here for the first time: excellent, I haven't found anything comparable since then! Later we had the mussels which were excellent! The staff was very friendly and gave us nice tips for sightseeing in the area and explained the weather for the next few days from a local's perspective. P.S. Don't be surprised, the waiter will take your jackets at the entrance no matter the weather :)

We visited from the U.S. and found this place on Google Reviews and other travel sites. We’re cautious about online ratings since they can be hit or miss in the U.S., but this spot fully deserves its high ranking in Fort William. We came for lunch, were seated quickly, and the food and drinks arrived fast - a huge plus! Our server (who seemed like she might be the owner or manager) was incredibly welcoming. She gave great recommendations, suggested we share a portion of haggis to see if we’d like it, and wasn’t pushy at all. The haggis was fantastic, and the mussels were melt-in-your-mouth good. I couldn’t resist the cranachan, which was also delicious. There’s also paid parking just 4-5 minutes away, and it’s only £3 for 4 hours.

Amazing experience, wait staff incredibly friendly, helpful and kind. we got two gins and tonics which our server suggested a gin for us to have that was incredible. We also got Fish And Chips and the half pound burger. Highly recommend, the fish was incredibly fresh and the burger was perfection. 10/10

Honestly, the best mac and cheese, and the best fish and chips, that we've ever had. The mac and cheese was not your everyday pub grub type meal - it was saucy, creamy, with crispy onion flakes and a really flavoursome cheese sauce. The fish and chips were just right - the fish was flaky and not too greasy, nice and crisp, and the fries had just the right amount of salt. I have to say that these were the main vegetarian / pescatarian options we noticed apart from a courgette risotto (vegan) which we didn't try, so if those dishes don't appeal to you and you're veggie/pesce then there might not be a meal for you. But for us it was absolutely worth it. The restaurant itself is really lovely and quirky. It has some beautiful maps, old books and other decorations. We were seated relatively late in the evening with no issues, and had friendly attentive staff. Absolutely lovely dining experience, would recommend.
