The Silver Sands Restaurant & Bar in Highland

Very unpleasant stay. It is understandable to treat the customer poorly since there are only two restaurants in the town and that the tourists would not return anyway. However, how little care was given to the customer as a house of hospitality. For every dish, our plates were taken away before we have finished. We were rushed to make decisions and to pay the seconds the plates were taken away. 5min after we paid the bill we were asked to leave and stay in the lobby. The food is reasonable and the restaurant would be well suited for ones who had a tight schedule and need to dash straight after the meal.

I had a beef burger, at 18 pounds it was horrible, I don't know if in Scotland all burgers are like this.. but it was tasteless, the minced steak was I think a mixture of minced beef and of soy / weight the bread was just industrial bread served with two tomatoes and salad and no sauce in it! I regret at the moment not having taken a photo to show it to you.. In short, really not exceptional at all... the service was normal, nothing extraordinary either. My friends had a lamb and a salmon which was a little more decent.

We really enjoyed our evening meal. Our smoked salmon and scallop starters followed by steak and ale pie and prawn curry were all delicious dishes. Tuan and Akram served us well and the sea and mountains were amazing.

Very friendly service (Tuan) with a few exchanges (in English and/or German ;)). Not a lot of choice on the menu (but enough), we had a curry with shrimp, which was really very good and a small translation error on a steak which ended up being a sort of stew with puff pastry placed on top. .. but again, excellent surprise, it was really good with the mashed potatoes. Small failure on the crumble which was not cooked (but the gesture was made so that we did not add it to the bill), and the orange sunset on the terrace (directly accessible) succeeded in making it for us. to forget ;)

Service très sympa (Tuan) avec quelques échanges (en anglais et/ou allemand ;)). Pas énormément de choix à la carte (mais suffisant), nous avons pris un curry avec crevettes, qui était vraiment très bon et une petite erreur de traduction sur un steak qui s'est terminé en sorte de ragoût avec une pâte feuilletée posée dessus... mais de nouveau, excellente surprise, c'était super bon avec l'écrasé de pommes de terres. Petit échec sur le crumble qui n'était pas cuit (mais le geste a été fait pour qu'on ne le mette pas à l'addition), et le coucher de soleil orangé sur la terrasse (directement accessible) a réussi à nous le faire oublier ;)

Excellent meal again at Morar Hotel, staff very friendly and attentive, would certainly recommend this restaurant.

Wir waren auf der Durchreise hier. Uns ist vor allem der gute Service aufgefallen. Tuan und Akram haben uns sehr freundlich und aufmerksam bedient. Tuan kann perfekt deutsch. Wir haben uns für das Curry entschieden, einmal mit King Prawns und einmal mit Chicken, beides war sehr lecker und gut scharf gewürzt.

Amazing food and amazing service from out waiters ( Tuan and Akram ) Ordered appetizers, main meals and a desert and it was all amazing food! Highly recommend you visit if you are in the area!

Beautiful setting with friendly staff. Room not like the pictures, tables not laid properly, had to ask for cutlery. Starters were ok. Mains were disappointing, 3 of us had chicken balmoral, dry chicken, fatty bacon, mashed potato not the promised new. We were told it came with chef's seasonal vegetables, in fact boiled carrot, peas and maybe swede. We came to celebrate our daughter's birthday as part of our holiday, we were disappointed. Having a meal out we expect tasty food, value for money and a nice experience. We received none of these. We did not complain at the time as it would have upset our party and ruined the evening. One of our group compared the evening to school dinners. We left feeling flat and underwhelmed.

Traveled to Scotland from India. Brilliant curry and rice dishes. And excellent service from Tuan and Akram. They both made us feel so welcome and at home. Came for dinner here and ended up coming again because of the lovely service.

Very nice friendly accommodating staff. The food was tasty and the price was okay.

Ordered dinner for two, got one. After 10 Minutes and almost finished dish of person one waiter said dish two was forgotten. Waiter himself was kindly but nevermind thats a no go. Quite expensive for quality you get also. Wouldn’t recommend.

As at Aug 22 this restaurant is marked in the wrong place on the map. It is actually located inside the Morar hotel. Call ahead as they change their restaurant opening times day by day depending on guest demand.

The cosy restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide wine list and wonderful dessert. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again.

We decided to pop into The Morar Hotel, where we were welcomed by the gentleman at the desk and we booked for dinner at 6pm. We had no expectations and were pleasantly surprised and impressed at the quality of food and the great service. Our server, Tuan was extremely pleasant and very obliging. We had a lovely meal and a very pleasant evening. The hotel itself is a beautiful building with fabulous views over the Silver Sands beach.

We ordered tomato soup, garlic bread, penne pasta, chicken curry and toffee pudding. Everything was great. The staff is very courteous.

Dropped in for breakfast as had a couple of hours to kill in Morar. Had the £12.95 breakfast. Staff were lovely and efficient. They don't do espresso, which is not unusual but is a real missed opportunity these days. I think it was cafetiere coffee which was OK but slightly bitter. Not great. The orange juice was pretty average too, certainly not freshly squeezed. I was served one slice of OK Wholemeal toast with no choice of marmalade/jam/Marmite. Never mind. The bacon was OK, haggis was good and fried eggs not bad. The food needs some love and a bit of thought. Shame cos its a great location and the staff deserve better. It feels like it's prepared by a tired chef going through the motions. So, get an espresso machine and learn how to use it, get some locally baked bread - try the bakehouse in Mallaig, offer a basket of marmalades, get some better OJ, and cook with a bit of love.

Booked the restaurant for a Friday evening and was pleased I did as it was busy. The food - Cullen Skink, Roast Salmon and Sticky toffee pudding was excellent and the service we found to be extremely prompt and pleasant. Even under the COVID conditions a very pleasant evening.

staff great but could i give a true account of my visit food good but to small a menu , no tea or coffee facilities in room and please add sky to all rooms not just in bar !!!! tv reception terrible and just when it was going fine no draught beer or cider of any kind £5.95 a bottle a bit steep

The restaurant closes at 2PM despite its own website having 3PM instead as the closing time. Nobody there seems to be even aware of the info on the website. Thanks for nothing... Shame because the view from the terrace is wonderful and the staff is otherwise friendly.

Part of morar hotel but unfortunately this place is way past it’s hey day and the new owners have a lot of refurb to undertake. The photos of the bar are quite old but the views from the terrace are wonderful and a lovely setting to enjoy a cool beer watching the sunset over the silver sands beaches.

Such a shame, this a lovely place and the staff were friendly but the food was appalling. It is the only place to eat out in morar but this is really no excuse. I would suggest getting a takeaway from the Thai instead or a walk to Mallaig, it’s worth the trip.

The food was not good, service was friendly and I do not blame the staff however trust me for £80.00 you do not want to eat here.

The meal we had here was terrific. The menu was varied and original, the staff were friendly and the service was excellent. Reasonable prices for good quality and fresh food.

Very pleasing food, well presented and professionally served. The Sirloin Steak was a real treat....tasty, meaty and tender. And the views from the restaurant: quite outstanding. Breakfast in same location also very good indeed.

Lovely meal in beautiful location. Stunning sunset while we ate overlooking Morar beach. Food tasty and reasonably priced. Would recommend
