Quick stop for coffee. Great friendly service beautiful and huge cakes - we had a coffee & walnut and a hummingbird. Latte was a decent size, good temperature and smooth tasting. Good price and nice surroundings.

We had a lovely full Scottish breakfast here this morning. Can't fault anything on the plate although we missed the black pudding, the option of adding haggis was good. Service was brilliant with a good atmosphere and music. Would definitely return.

Another excellent breakfast, great value. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Service is relaxed. It's an informal place, there's no maitre d' or fancy meals, it's a lovely local cafe that we've been visiting for years. Staff (and possibly owners) have changed in that time but we know what we're getting.

First time this Australian traveller has had haggis. Terrified of the first bite I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. Staff are absolutely lovely, go above and beyond and will be remembered from our honeymoon. Coffee to die for as is the big Scottish breakfast.

Bad experience. Queuing system for orders unclear. Someone pushed in before us and then lied to justify. After waiting some time, couple before us had just asked if order at table or order first. We were only others in queue and said we'd got table, then queued. Just them and us in queue then! Earlier I had queued to side of them but moved behind, as found in way of those leaving from cafe, so stood immediately behind although in gift shop area which close to till. When came to our turn, someone pushed in. When I said we were next, they made a fuss, saying they had been there all along (when standing where I had been earlier). They were believed and I wasn't. This was very unpleasant, especially due to what man said. While in queue, I had also seen them walk towards order point, although hadn’t given it any attention. They had pushed in, perhaps unwittingly, but then insisted they were next and made false claims to justify. We left as the queue jumpers insisted they were right and were believed by those serving. Difficult situation for those running cafe. It partly arose due to lack of space to queue for placing orders (gift shelves too close to order/paying point, leaving little room to queue) and lack of clarity on how to order, with no welcome or guidance given. Shame as we’d had a nice day till then and had to leave to find tea and cake etc and a welcome elsewhere.

Apparently this ‘local services’ only serves breakfast or lunch. If you arrive twixt the two, at, say, 11:45, you aren’t even offered a menu for lunch, or coffee, or advised what might be available. Customer service with a sigh and a sneer. Travellers travel. We don’t stop according to a ‘menu’ or a derived idea about when we should or shouldn’t need to stop. Please, for tourists next year, hand the management of this place over to someone, anyone, who understands how to make money and what ‘local services’ mean to tourists.

Came to get some breakfast with my family after reading on their website that they have gluten free options, they only had gf bread that went in the same toaster as the normal bread in a very cross contaminated kitchen and a muffin that was surrounded by normal cakes. Really disappointing

After arranging to meet friends who we were crossing paths with ,we had chosen The Gathering at Glencoe as we had been there 10 years ago and enjoyed it.....don't bother, really useless. Plan B was The Quarry ,as it's dog friendly and from now on it's Plan A. Friendly, nice food, good coffee and superb cakes. Staffed by grown-ups,( unlike The Gathering ),who good-naturedly coped with a busy cafe. Basic fare but tasty and generous and reasonably priced for such a busy tourist area.

Breakfast for most of us was probably 2/3 out of 5. Was fine but basic and fairly greasy. Reason this gets 1 star is it advertises as having gluten free options but turns out everything is cooked together so absolutely no options if you’re coeliac. And absolutely no interest from the staff in doing anything to accommodate you, was so disappointing as my brother couldn’t eat anything and we’d travelled specifically because of the (false) advertising.

We travelled far just to visit this place, great to see it so busy but there didn't appear to be a system in place to take orders properly. We waited so long to get served, then we watched food going out to other tables that had been ordered long after ours. We then had the misfortune of turning away food meant for others, instead of looking at the chit number and matching it up to the table. Part of our order went amiss too but I think the chef finally realised and came out with the dishes. What we saw today was chaotic and it translated into frustrated customers who were paying for a service that wasn't being delivered. It wasn't much of a welcome either and the food didn't taste half as good as it once did. I deeply regret submitting this but I always gave this place 5 stars and shouted it's praises from the rooftops but when things are tough in the world, you're game has to be consistently at it's best of your visiting customers will bypass you and go elsewhere....

Lockdown procedures in place, track and trace enforced and the welcome is good and once the formalities are out of the way, it is a very relaxed and comfortable. The service was excellent (and we are so grateful as one of our party is an autistic child who struggles with choices) and the server was so patient - grateful thanks! The food is always exceptional, as is the coffee and although they always apologise when they only have the 'sofas available' it is our preferred seating area as it means we can allow our daughter to relax and face away from everyone - it is perfect. We love visiting Ballachulish, we love the small gift shop attached and we love the girl (hope you don't mind us using that term) who served us and love the atmosphere and decoration inside the venue. It's a firm favourite of ours and we hope to return before Christmas just to visit the area and drop in again for coffee.

Stopped here for late lunch on way home from holidays - we decided to eat in the car as toddler granddaughter was asleep. We ordered two cheese burgers and a cheese toastie which came to about £21 as I recall. Here we go again, I thought, as there are so many overpriced eateries in the Highlands serving below standard food, but boy was I wrong. We had wanted chips, which the cafe doesn't do and just as well because we could not have eaten them - the burgers were absolutely massive! Real delicious melted cheddar cheese and lovely relish with salad on top of a juicy perfectly cooked burger. We sat in silence looking out at the rain as we munched our way through these monsters! Grandson also devoured the toastie. Plenty of fuel to see us the last few hours home. Highly recommended.

Desperate for food earlier today, this was the only place we could find that was open. The Quarry Centre Café is a perfect example of "you get what you pay for"; food was cheap and not very good at all. Soup took twenty minutes to cool down, it must have been reheated to within an inch of its life in a microwave, the sandwiches bland and tasteless. The blaring Gaelic music was so awful I wondered if this is what Van Gogh was listening to when he chopped his ear off! The so called local arts and crafts was mostly cheap internet sourced junk. If you absolutely must eat and this is your last resort before contemplating cannibalism then go for it, otherwise pack a picnic or wait until you get to your destination. This place is not worth your time or money.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!

We had a wonderful diner with perfect plates of local cheese, dried meat and bread served with a perfect wine. Thanks a lot for the perfect diner.

We both had the Sunday Roast which was ok but we had to order extra gravy which is the 1st time I’ve ever been charged for extra gravy. The restaurant was very quiet only a couple of tables in and the service was ok
